Katy, What a beautiful poem. I love Mary Oliver but haven't read her, or any poetry, lately. Such a beautiful simple reminder. Also thanks for the binge TV rec. I'm going to look for DI Lewis series.

Thanks everyone for helping me process the MRI schedule decision. You all helped me have the confidence to determine that it is MY choice when (and if) I have this test. I think it is also my choice whether or not I see the MO or the BS- they keep pushing me to the BS. I think I will tell my MO or BS that I am willing to have the MRI either the first week of December or the first week of January, with the preference the first week of January ( because it might just lead to more tests and more waiting and anxiety). Sure, i'll be a little more in crazy town, but I'm a bit out of sight out of mind- but for my daily bouts of gas cancer , leg cancer and the like. Whatever.

Gaia- I just turned 50 in June. I love your beautiful beautiful picture. You look so strong and healthy. I'm hoping the Herceptin and Tamox will be gentle for you. I'm imagining that your healthy lifestyle will make the treatment side effects more manageable. When I first found my lump, I didn't take it seriously- after all I had no history of BC in my family and no thought of it at a very healthy 47- Also I wanted to enjoy a family trip to Sweden. So I thought I'd take my own watch and wait approach (thought it might disappear with my cycle- didn't!) . So probably 6 weeks after finding it I contacted my PCP and it all began. I was shocked- my PCP was very surprised as well (I guess she never got the memo that dense breasts are a risk factor). .

Sula- I'm so impressed with your cooking prowess and the cooking company you keep. Can only imagine how good the chocolate cake is!

Ducky- what a great big family! I have a very small family but DH's side is big and fun- I feel so lucky I married into it as mine is smaller and more sad dysfunctional (theirs' is a big Irish Catholic happy dysfunctional).

Rain- your comfort food sounds perfect. Also, I'm always on the lookout for a good healthy eyebrow pencil. I'm sure the Crazy Town pharmacy would stock them if anyone had a good recommendation. My brows are so fair you can't even tell they grew back and I got used to the brow makeup so now I use it every day..

Slow- thanks for the good words. And I love the tulips- they make me so happy:)

    Hugs and good night!

Tomboy- count me in on the party in your pocket tomorrow. Mojo drip hooked up for you now. Pharmaceutical grade. Hugs. Breathe.

momwriter- EFFING BRILLIANT!!!! Crazytown Pharmacy! Why has this not come up before? Oh shit I'm laughing so hard tears are coming down.

At the CTown pharmacy, nobody will accuse you of drug seeking behavior when you need pain meds.

At our pharmacy, we can get Tamoxifen and Femara with no SEs. Even SE free chemo!

And of course, this iswhere we fill the ice cream prescriptions. BAAHAHAHAAAA !!!

Recruiting for a pharmacist.... Roserx- interested?

I'm thinking we will be needing a human resources director. Any takers there?

    hey there crazies.....

    Jumping in here late tonight.

Dear Tomboy thinking of you tomorrow sending white light shooting out your way!!! We are all with you.

    Ducky,

I am amazed at your family! Such a great looking bunch, and so close. I'm envious as my entire family is gone, mom and dad in 2013 and my younger sister in Dec 2010. I love the way you all care for each other.

    Slow,

Looking forward to catching up with you tomorrow. Now that we're into the script with both feet it's a full work day, something that feels strange since I was not doing anything for the bulk of the year as my chemo SEs kept me out of my office. Then, I feel tired at the end of the day and just want to do nothing.

Jack that's a gorgeous poem. I'm not familiar with Mary Oliver now I have a new thing to look up and learn.

    Gaia,

Such a great picture of you and your man. Seems like you guys had quite the vacation.

Anyway...I know I'm missing people and forgetting stuff. I've got my feet up now as I think my knee cancer is back... At least I don't have the gas cancer... Today .

    Night all

Arg, I just typed a paragraph and my browser crashed.

Hi everyone hope everyone is doing well. I haven't been on the board since my MRI. I unfortunately caught a cold right after and it took a week and a half to get over and then life got the best of me, trying to get back into the swing of things juggling kids school schedules, volunteering in their class and working and helping out my sis who had foot surgery.

I am trying to get caught up in this thread but I think I'm too behind. :(

I got my MRI results back and my Onco doc said and I quote "they (referring to the radiologist) think it's a benign liver tumor, we will do another MRI in 3 months." I guess I should be relieved but it sorta left me frustrated. Think? Geez, could they be any more vague? Why not do a biopsy? Is the risk too high on a liver?

I decided not to worry about it which is sorta the reason I didn't jump back on the boards as I was trying to keep myself from thinking about it. I'm over it now and I can talk about it without stressing out about it anymore.

    Anyhoo, I'm back, how's things!

Pardon me asking, but what are gas cancers? If it's what I think it means I have them often. :/

well my Pa Dutch mom and grand mom, never called it Bechemel, it was just white sauce as in a way of stretching out some of the food, like ground beef

feeling crappy, went to see the spine doc, he is fine to give me more script for PT but the issue is Medicare, seems I am at my yearly max so no more till Jan when the new year starts, was hoping for better news but it seems my options are to try acupuncture and to continue with my home stretches and exercises. Sort of blue, well more than sorta. The next step would be spine injections and have not gotten my mind in gear for that yet. sitting on my heating pad now

Iris- I'm very sad to hear this. I remember what a total turnaround it was for you when you started PT.

I'm sending hugs. I'm still in PT also, and some of what they do is manipulation, but some are safe exercises I can do at home (when I'm not too lazy). If there is any stuff you can remember that you can do on your own it will help keep you stable until January.

I know that doesn't help much. I can hear the disappoint the in your words. Just know I'm thinking if you. We all are

Katy. the Pt guys gave me a bunch of stretches to do on my own, I was just hoping to be able to get back to the center for their help

least now I know how many sessions my Medicare will cover

actually doing the home stuff has been going fairly well but still not happy on it

Good Afternoon Crazies (evening for some),

Sula, Pepin was on Rachel Ray today. I didn't watch the show, but saw the promo. They were celebrating his 80th birthday too. Made me think of you. You've been busy, busy writing and cooking!! So good for you to be productive!! I really do want that recipe for your chocolate cake!!

Ducky, I really like that group pic you posted!! Grayson is one lucky little girl having so many people that love and support her. I always enjoy looking at your big group family pictures. Knowing that all of those people came from you and your husband. It's quite amazing if you think about it. Thank you so much for sharing the picture of your mom!! She was a very pretty lady and reminds me of one of the old time movie stars but I can't think of her name.

Katy, Thanks for that list you posted about the unsafe cosmetics. Great information!! I wrote down that series that's on Amazon (DI Lewis), and I will put that one my list of things to watch. The Mary Oliver poem was perfect for Gaia.

Gaia, The picture of you and your man is just beautiful. I must admit I had a slight tear in my eye when I saw it. I'm sure I must have had something in my eye!! Thanks for sharing it with us. Would be a perfect picture to go on your bridal party invitations. The one we are having for you in Crazy Town!! Hope you're feeling good today after the Herceptin infusion from yesterday, and hope the acupuncture went well.

Octo, Thinking of you!! I hope you're feeling better with each day.

Momwriter, I'm glad you were able to make your decision about the timing of the scan. Just remember, you never have to hang out in Crazy Town alone. We will all be here helping you through the holiday if it ends up being in January. I agree with Katy....as I almost always do....the Crazy Town Pharmacy is a great idea!!!

I'm going to expand on Katy's great ideas for the pharmacy though. I think we should each have one of those pneumatic tubes that banks have installed in each of our Crazy Town homes. The tube would connect directly to the pharmacy. This way we can get our drugs without having to leave home!! None of those ridiculous lines.

Italy, That gas cancer really is the best one yet. I laugh every time I read it. hahaha....I think that one was yours??? I lose track!! If not, NEVERMIND!! haha

Mulligan, Good to see you again. Sounds like you've been caught up in everyday life - as it should be!! I miss having kids at home. Miss the crazy schedule and the kids in and out of the house. Enjoy every second you can!! Catching up on this thread is like running after a gopher wearing a blindfold. haha.... It's a fast moving thread. So you've joined the wait and rescan crowd too?? I'm thinking we should start a club. Or, maybe we can have our own street in Crazy Town??!! I've reached the same conclusion as you. Whatever....I'll worry about it if, and when I need to.

I've come up with the perfect solution for gas cancer SE's. Here it is.

    image

M0mmy, This is Crazy Town. No apologies are ever necessary!!!

PTS, That's a real bummer about the Medicare. I hope you're able to keep up with the exercises at home, and it continues to help you!! Seems to me Medicare should make an exception if it's helping you. Far less money for them to put out in comparison to back surgery. I would call them directly with a letter from the doctor showing your progress. Of course I'm really grouchy that way, and have no patience. It just irritates me knowing how much it's helping you.

Uh oh.....DH is calling for my help with dinner. BBL!!

Hey, just saw this about the makeup in Look Good, Feel Better: http://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/health/makeu... It's starting to hit the media!

Momwriter, principles aside, until I'm sure I have viable eyebrows post final chemo, I will be using my Loreal Brow Stylist Sculptor. It is perfect: pencil at one end, crayon at the other, a little brush all in one package. I'm not a cosmetics genius and this one meets my every need, which is to make me look as if I have eyebrows! If it is carcinogenic, then I will have eyebrow cancer.

Iris, so bummed about the medicare. Will they at least let you grab an appointment spot now for the first week in January? And yes, my mom doesn't call it béchamel either. It's macaroni and cheese sauce. Or chicken pot pie gravy. Sort of like how I grew up saying noodles, and then entered adult society and realized everyone else called it pasta.

On the positive side, my energy is coming back in a good way, and I'm spacing out the time between Tylenols. But unfortunately one of my drains may have been pulled too soon, and there is definitely fluid buildup and possibly the start of an infection. So I'm going back in tomorrow and suspect there may be in my future 1. a new drain 2. IV antibiotics 3. Crazytown! At least they gave me an appointment first thing in the morning; the sooner this gets sorted out the better.

Beppy, I hear you about missing having kids at home. DS is a junior, so we'll have an empty nest in just under two years! It is really hard to imagine, especially with him doing math homework on the rug just a few feet away.

    Good evening to all!

WOW! See what happens when you get involved Katy???!!! Thanks for that link Rain. I'm sure the media will be all over this one. I'm so proud of our Crazy Town Advocate!!! Gooooo Katy!!!!!!!

It was a big adjustment when my son moved out. I got so used to him yelling at the top of his lungs while playing those online games!! I never thought I would miss that, but I really do! He was 24 though and I know it was time. haha It was difficult when my DD moved, but I still had my son at home. Although very unrealistic, I wouldn't mind if they lived with me forever!!

ETA - sorry to hear about the possible infection. I hope they can get it under control with antib's quickly!!

Rainn- glad you are getting around but boo on a new drain, infection, antibiotics, etc. Wishing none of that for you tomorrow. That you wake up and not infection. Maybe they can just drain a little fluid. Keep us posted.

I remember a good friend in New Jersey who was as Italian as they come, but his last name was Jones. Haha. He called pasta sauce gravy. I got that book today about lost Hoboken ravioli recipes (aka as food history) and can't wait to dive in. I think that was your recommendation?

And thanks do much for the link. I hadn't seen it. Yessss!

I actually feel less pain when I'm writing those letters. It must be adrenaline or endorphins. If I felt that good when I exercised, I'd be running marathons.

Love to all Crazies tonight, and the quiet ones too.

It is pathetic and almost, but not quite funny to see the back pedaling going on.

"Because they are undergoing treatment, it is important for LGFB participants to discuss possible adverse reactions to these products with their doctor."

Right. I can just see me trying to have a conversation with my MO.

Me: "So, Dr. Cook, do you think I should go with the Revlon or the Max Factor?

    Hi to all:

wow! the cape looks like it has a grown up version of Gabe on it! :-)

I am feeling slightly better after doing a while lot of nothing today. Fever went away, came back. gone again. The only thing that tastes decent is meat, especially beef. So too bad it isn't good for me, it is New York steak for dinner, grilled by hubby. Hey, if I can't be there.....

Sorry I don't have energy yet for much in the way of replies but I am hoping tomorrow is better. Just knowing you are there helps.

I want to be a fly on the wall during your cosmetics conversation with your MO, oh fearless advocate!

Regarding gravy, did I ever post the Mark Bittman/Marcella Hazan video? I thought it was where I'd first heard the term "gravy" for sauce, but I just watched it again, and I was wrong. No matter, it's priceless: http://www.nytimes.com/video/magazine/100000002536...

Octo, I had those meat and only meat cravings during taxol. Go with it. And feel better!

Visited with the NP today for my consult for my very first colonoscopy. For some reason, discussing the procedure, iv, anesthesia, biopsy and so on sent me straight to Crazy Town. Near panic attack. Grrrrr. I just want my body to be left alone. So tired of being prodded and poked.

    hey fellow Crazies,

    Proud,

It's sucky that you'd gave to wait til Jan for more PT, but everybody here seems to really have great experiences with acupuncture. It sounds like a good move and if it's covered , a win win. I'm sitting on the couch in the family room with my knees all twisted up pretzel like ... Perhaps the source of my knee cancer???? I'm almost thinking of trying Duckys acupuncture suggestion too. The Writers Guild insurance covers that, and massage too but my mom and dad always swore by the acupuncture too so maybe it's time for me to put a pin in it...and also untangle my legs.

    Slow,

That is one stuffy cape, and I will be posting the cake recipe probably next week... This week it's vegetables. And yes to the tubes!!!! It's a great idea instant relief. Who wants to sit at the controls???

    image

Also, since we have those tubes for meds... How about something fun too?? Like this

    image

    Burger tubes anybody????

    Rain,

Glad you're feeling better and getting your energy back. I hope all that drain mess clears up for you soon and you don't need a new drain. Hopefully you can clear all this up with just the meds.

    Jack,

You raised the sauce /gravy conundrum. My family is from northern Italy on both sides (Tuscany and the Piedmont) my mom called anything with no meat, sauce and it's cooked quickly...gravy contains meat and is cooked like...forever.

Anybody hear from Tomboy today??? Hope she'll be along later.

    Gaia,

The idea of rain sounds sooooooo good. Soup and stew weather and a fire.... In the fireplace where it belongs. Oh, and béchamel bring it!!!

    Welcome back Mulligan!

Well off to start checking what everyone is up to and catch up...oh , I started to get all ragey today when this showed up on my Twitter feed...

    image

    Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

    Ok, back in my cage
