Wow!  Katy!  Thank-you for writing all of that out!!  Yum!  I will attempt this soon!  My Mom was not much of a cook and never taught me!  I know the basics...feel I might be getting some amazing cooking lessons right here in this thread!  A welcome surprise!  Thanks again!

Ducky: gorgeous! And Mikayla's not bad looking either.

Katy: Oh, that's what bone broth is! I always called it "soup stock that I forgot about and left simmering for way too long." Just put some in the pneumatic tube.

Attempting a catch up from where I left off. You're a chatty bunch of food porn crazies!! haha

Queen, (wails) How come I didn't get the cancer that would give me trendy eyebrows? (I have, er, strong eyebrows.) hahahahahahaha.....!!
I can't tell you how many people said to me, "Well if you have to have cancer, BC is the best one to have." Spoken from someone who obviously never had BC. Katy requested a cape for you. I couldn't remember what your chosen profession is in Crazy Town, so I improvised.. I thought it was appropriate for the occasion.

    image

Octo, Sorry I missed world octopus day. I hope it was good for you! Great news about the healed incision. Great mom story.

Katy, Tomato porn looked fabulous. I love avocado. So generous of you to make a recurring donation to BCO. I've got them on my list this year. Ask and you shall receive. See Queen's cape above. Also, I think you're underestimating your food porn. You definately have inspired some of my drool. I think I will enter my DH in the bread throw down. Holidays are coming up....I'll take pictures!!

Italy, Big happy dance in your honor.

    image

That's great news. Test free holidays are always nice.

Maggie, Awesome news for you too!!! You get your own happy dance! Enjoy your break. We are here when you need us.

eggroll, I'm glad you had help in reading your path report. I'm always gobsmacked on how much I don't understand. I learned that word from Lucy!! Isn't it great?????? I try and use it whenever I can.

rose, Cherry Garcia is one of my all time favorite ice creams!! I can eat a whole pint in one sitting. I also like mint chocolate chip from Baskin Robbins. Also, caramel pretzel and.....oh never mind ...I like them all!! 101 is a very long time to live. Did you ask what her secret was for longevity??? Inquiring minds would really like to know.

Lucy, Hope the birthday lunch for your son went well. Where did you go and what did you eat??? Something totally scrumptious I hope! Chicken laid the onion. hahahahahahahahaha....I was thinking the same thing!! The beach looks so inviting.

Mulligan, Sorry to hear you're having problems sleeping. I used to have such problems sleeping. My normal amount of sleep was about 3 to 5 hours. Five hours on a good night. Probably why I got BC...oh wait...maybe it was the hair dye...or...the hours of sun bathing....or possibly, stress....I stood on my head a lot when I was younger....maybe all the body cancer went into my breasts. Sorry....got distracted there. Anyway, I now take a muscle relaxer every night and I sleep at least 7 hours now. So much better than before.

Chloesmom, Are you trying to trick me?? You said here is a shot of your Chloe, and I don't see one??? Is it trick Beppy day?? hahahaha I'm teasing....I'm guessing you forgot to attach the picture. That's something I would do. I've also been known to post to the wrong thread. Leaving people scratching their heads, wondering what the heck I was talking about. I'm happy to hear Chloe has her wag back!! Having a wagless dog is just no fun at all. Hope you got all your insurance stuff sorted out.

shorfi, I see a deleted post by you. You ok???

PTS, My mom used to shop at Shoprite. They don't have Shoprite here in CA. I still have nightmares about shopping with my mom as she got older....another mom story. She would go into the store for a "few" items and come out an hour later. She definitely had a few items, but it took her an hour to pick them out. She was the only woman I've ever know that would look through each bag of peas to make sure one wasn't marked down in price. I've since referred to the grocery store as the black hole. Must be why I detest grocery shopping so much.

Gaia, I wish I could chase away your blues! Not sure why, but this flower reminded me of you. Natural beauty.

    image

Sula, Hope you're feeling well after your Herceptin infusion. I'm not a fan of figs, but you sure do make that cake look good. I think I'm partial to your chocolate creations!!

Jewel, The Crazy song by Patsy is perfect for CT. Who doesn't love Patsy??!! I hope your rash clears up soon.

Rain, Still sending those healing vibes your way!!

Pennsy, The Bento box looks yummy....minus the sushi!! Never could eat anything raw - except veggies.

Ducky, Makayla looks gorgeous and she just towers over you!! You're so adorable. I don't believe you're 80 - never have, never will. I hope all went well for her at the Frosh Hop. Did your DD chaperone?? She DOES NOT look 14.

Tomboy, Oh man.....so hot today. This heat is wearing me down!! Sorry I didn't get to text this afternoon. Long story....I'll tell you all about it when you have a few hours!! haha.....Hope you're feeling better without the Tamox. The hotter it got today, the more I thought of you. I saw this and it reminded me of the freezer/fridge conversation we had.

    image

Ok...think I'm all caught up. That only took two hours!! hahahaha Guess I should go to bed now....2:05 am. YEP.

    Goodnight wonderful crazies!!

Hope you're all sleepy soundly and dreaming about dancing desserts.

slow, last night I needed one of those muscle relaxers, dang but the back was having spasms, so much for the suggestion of ice after stuff rather than heat

back to the heating pad now. So you do a muscle relaxer on a regular basis? I have some but have not used them so thinking tonight will try them, else I will be a permanent resident of CT, course I am now but....

SlowDeep: my very own cape! awwwww, I belong. As for my 'elected' role in CrazyTown, I think I'm the vice-mayor, though a bowl of matzo(h) soup will do nicely.

    Thanks Ladies................

Slow, no my daughter did not chaperone....at the last minute Makayla told he she didn't have to..........she said she had a good time

What is even better then anything else.....she is a good girl with a good head on her shoulders.........she carries a 4.0 GPA, is a Pitcher for her HS softball team, and such a thoughtful girl......just hope she stays that way.............

    Good morning all..

Well, I went into CT for a bit last night. I had a headache that just wouldn't quit....and that conventional OTCs couldn't touch...headaches aren't all that common for me, and usually a few advil or some such will knock them out, so when hubby swore he didn't mistakenly buy decaf (You know i inspected the Peet's bag to be sure. I am caffeine addicted!), I made the mistake of going on the internet to try and figure it out...anyway, I don't recommend that approach when one already has bc. It is a scary disease, not a pretty pink one.

I've even had a doctor tell me that 'if you have to have cancer this is the good one to have'. sigh.

I really wanted some sleep, so finally took the sensible green approach (well actually the buds are a nice brown color), and that did the trick with the anxiety and the headache, although I am more than a little fuzzy headed this morning. Going to take a walk to see if that clears the cobwebs. It is a beautiful day out here in the Great Central Valley, if a bit warm. I want to see fall colors!

octo, I too rarely get a headache but do find if I do not drink enough water during the day, I get dehydrated and get a headache. So when a headache appears, I grab a glass of water, if headache goes away, then it was dehydration. Nurse at my gym told me that years ago, worth a try

LBF, I think you may be 34 chronologically but you have the wisdom of all of us 'old' ladies!!! And really, your bank uses pneumatic tubes still? I'd like to visit it someday....But of course you are always part of us. We love you too!!!!

PTS, thanks for the reminder about water. as you say, worth a try. Going to try that if the headache comes back. I am trying to be good about staying hydrated while on chemo, but there is that whole water-tastes-bad-but-I-am-now-afraid-to-put-a-lime-in-it thing, so it is possible I wasn't drinking enough (water.)

    Woohoo QMC!!!!

I did take a long walk today. Definitely helped my disposition. We do get nice fall colors here in the Central Valley, but they aren't showing up yet...

    Hugs

Octo: lemon seltzer. We have a sodastream, which has been my favorite kitchen appliance during the long months of Taxol. There has been many a day when water tasted like soap, but lemon or lime (I know, I know) seltzer tasted like something vaguely resembling a drink.

Littleblue- of course you STAY. As was said, you are agelessly graceful and wise.

QMC- yay! Sprung! And yes. Elected Vice-Mayor.

Octo- sorry about the headache and Brava on your resourcefulness.

Beppy- that looks like the flower of a dogwood tree. It is a beautifully structured tree plus has beautiful flowers, and the natural, simple beauty of it suits our Gaia very well.

thanks but yeah, unfortunately cran juice also tastes bad to me. But I will try seltzer. And the fruits on my lemon trees are almost ripe (I'd say another week or two at most for the conventional lemons and the Meyer lemons aren't far behind; I have both types of lemons in the back yard)...I do like a squeeze of lemon. and maybe lemons don't disappear the way limes do.. :-)

Now safely home in my quiet house. Just for starters: the food porn drive helped immensely!

I will enjoy my own bed tonight. My quiet, dark bed with my husband snorking next to me and Pete the Paw (cat) elbowing me into a more comfortable position. I will also enjoy my own garden, my own tea, my own bulbs.....and not being bothered chirpily every hour or so by some medical professional or other.

QMC- so glad you are home. Yes. Your own everything. Nothing like it!

Octo- I have two Meyer lemons. They are still small but flowered profusely this year and I have lots of little green fruit. They are in containers on my deck. Yum.

Might try to get a photo. But right now it's green on green, haha. Might be hard to see.

Have bought a chicken to roast in honor of Katy. Might be a bed of rosemary, however.

Plan to make stock with the bones after we're done with the meat.

The real question, however, is: what do I have to take out of the freezer in order to make room for the stock. Oh, for a stand-alone freezer.

Rainny- I hear ya on the freezer space! I live alone, it shouldn't be such a problem. But an inventory reveals two problems. I still keep a lot if ice packs/gel packs in there for post BMX pain, 10 months after the fact, though the situation has improved, and the vessel for the ice cream maker. I have 2, and as they require freezing 24 hrs in advance, in order to EVER be able to enjoy ice cream spontaneously, I must sacrifice the space.

I don't guess I'll get much sympathy for THAT!

I have the same problem. I don't know where I'd put an ice cream maker. Party at Katy's house!!!

Yes!!! Party here!! You are all invited. Lots of places to sleep! Just one bath though. Wouldn't we have fun?

I do love how we share.

Rainny- here's the problem with my freezer. That's the last of the old batch of limoncello. Always keep a small bottle in the freezer. I just realized I could insert that inside the ice cream maker vessel behind it and buy a bit of space. You inspired me to have a closer look at the whole bizness. Fridge too. Results later.

    image

And Octo- can you see my little beauties coming on?

    image

I count about 10!!! The leaves are so pretty. Can I do something with them? Throw them in the bathtub? Make tea?

Drinking my first cup ofbone broth now. So delish!

Oh man. You guys are all so good in the kitchen. The only thing I can really really make is chicken and cheese enchiladas, with lots of chopped onions and green olives. I always do a green tomatillo sauce. And sometimes i now do a "greek" variation, with red onions, kalamata olives, and feta cheese. That's pretty yum, made it first one day with the ingredients on hand, and they turned out surprisingly good! In the fall, I am the pie maker, this lady I knew from when I babysat her kids when I was a kid, gave me the recipe for 'never fail pie crust'. It does use crisco, but man is it good. I never made pies until my man asked me if I knew how. Um, noooo! And he taught me how to make pasta sauce, where you just throw in a little everything, my friend told me it was sort of like 'puttanesca,' which I still need to look up! Lotsa capers, olives, artichoke hearts, pesto, squeeze of lemon, cherry tomatoes halved, and whatever, simmered with a little water from the pasta to thicken. Really good and easy! That is the friend who makes limoncello for xmas prezzes, so we both steal the meyer lemons from a tree a few houses down from me. (it's okay with the man who lives at that house, he doesn't use them, he is kind of a Boo Radley guy--nice and child-like, but almost never comes out of his house). I had some in the freezer, and now it is gone- I wonder if she will make me more? (I hardly ever have a drink, but would add a teensy amount to my Ice tea, or if I had a small glass of vanilla ice cream with it drizzled over. It was a tiny bottle, about the size of yours, Katy.

Gaia, you are being awfully quiet over there, hope every thing is okay.

I just got back from the grocery store: mango, watermelon, limes, this amazing small batch apricot yogurt these brothers (local) make. It used to only be availiable at the farmer's market, but my store started to carry it! I wish everybody could try it! It spoiled me for any other yogurt, it's made from sheep milk and has a great tang! So thick! I could live on it! But guess what??? My breast surgeon was there! She did the air hug thingy... I told her we forgot to feel the lump on my neck. The one that is making my voice do funny things. The one that was the main reason I had called her a week ago. Duh. So she said she would set me up with a consult for their ENT there... It was funny, because she asked me if I knew who she was.. Dumb! of course I do! How could I not recognize her! I invited her over to look at my art, meet my boymanfriend, but she had to say no, but asked me for my phone # and adress....I don't think she will be calling. She looked like the proverbial deer caught in the headlamps. I should have followed her home..Ha! I wouldn't, but She looked like she thought I might..

oh Tomboy! How awkward! I am having a healthy giggle imagining you stalking her. You make that yoghurt sound to DIE FOR.

I had this brief fantasy today that we could have a real Crazytown reunion somewhere and it would be like a big farmers market/swap meet. We would all being our special things, and things only available in our areas, and share around and everybody would go home with a wonderful variety of things. Not to mention the fellowship. I'm pretty sure my portion of the yoghurt would be eaten on the way home.

I make lots of limoncello, always with organic lemons but strangely, Irarely drink it. It is good. I love the color and smell. Mostly I give it away in little bottles like you saw in my freezer.

    Guys,

Just popping in to say hi!! Reading what everyone is up to. I have been taking it a bit easy this weekend as herceptin tends to give me a bit of nausea, and some of the big D. Will be posting tomorrow. Cheers all you crazies!!
