hi crazies
Dipping in. Miss you guys
Katy I love send in the clowns.
Ducky thanks for the background on the song. And you do mean so much to us here and definitely don't call yourself names! That was also a good share about enjoying life and that this is not a dress rehearsal!
QMC I hope the iv helps resolve the issue quickly. Sorry you have to be in the hospital.
PTS ice cream sounds like s great addition along with the massage
Octo glad you are have less issues with taste buds. Post pictures of your soup when you make it
Clhoesmom what a drag those days on the phone with insurance and red tape. But happy for you that Chloe turned a corner
Slow how are you? And rain and sula. And mommy? And all.Sorry to be short but I hate typing on the phone
I think the blue feeling is in the air. I'm in a beautiful place getting to take part in a spirit filled and mind stimulating workshop but I am huddled in bed in a pool of tears. Just want to be home. I think it's all the unknown.
Argh. Home on Sunday night crazies but I'll keep checking back.
Hugs

Queen,
So sorry about e ersipelas. My mom told me I had it on my face as a baby , but I don't remember. That is some rocking done From Jack and Octo, wow!!! Ok, how's about some dessert from me???
How about a lovely piece of fig, lemon and olive oil cake???
There's plenty for everyone.
Also, if you'd rather have something vegan and gluten free here's a chocolate truffle cake with a raspberry coulis
Meanwhile, I'm really pooped

Hug gaia.... I don't know if this might help, but it might be the tamoxifen. It has a depressive effect on my mood.. kind of takes the "want to" out of me somehow. I really struggle with this. It is for sure ok to cry though in any case. Cyber hug coming your way.
QMC, I am gonna go read up on erysipelas. What took them so long??? I guess maybe they had to culture it, to see which anti b would be most effective for it. Hope it clears up quick, so you can get to you own home sooner.

Awe QMC a hospital stay for abx, no fun. Will start working on the foodporn. I have had ham 3 days in a row and happy to report the leftovers are gone.
Working at a hospital for 20 yrs I know what to pick and choose. More importantly what to stay away from.
Hope the time passes quickly.

Sula, was just reading your blog, and I do believe I am going to attempt the bengali dish with peas and taters tomorrow. Its fresh veggie market day in the morning, and I can get the rest of what I need. There was a store, India sweets and spices, that was near my house for years, and when I went there a few weeks ago, it was gone! I hope I can find where they moved to! I know there is an asian store where I can buy kaffir lime leaves, maybe they will have curry leaves too.0
-
Ok Sula. I want that red one.

Tomboy, True about the tamoxifen. After 4 years of it I ran out of gas (givea$hit) So I took a holiday or break but then Aunt Flo returned for 14 days then 50 days and got a D&C and the b still came back. I should have started back on the Pristiq. Hindsight is 20/20 so they say. Gaia talk to your doc and see if they can point you in the right direction. Don't spiral too far down.

Hi everyone! I have been a quiet one for awhile but decided to come forth and say "Hello"! I just love how you are all so supportive of each other. I live alone in Santa Monica, so get a bit lonely and sometimes need people around who really get it! I am in CT waiting on my second appointment with my MO. I am a little over two weeks out of radiation. I started having some bad itching and red bumps yesterday...called my nurse and she said its normal. Delayed reaction I guess. Freaking out a bit about it tho. I am so nervous about starting AI's in a couple of weeks. And, scans? What if they find something else...Thanks for letting this crazy girl join your club. I keep hearing the Patsy Cline song in my head...CRAZY. Sending love and good thoughts out to all.

tom,
If you live near Venice. Or Washington Blv in Culver City go to Samosa House/ Bharat Bazzar they have everything at their market. It's where I always shopped when we lived in Santa Monica. I used to go to I dis assets and Spices at first but Bharat is better. Also, sliding a piece of the vegan truffle cake down the communal table toward you!
Hey Jewel!!
I lived in Santa Monica for years. I hear ya about the scans, nobody likes those which is why we've got this place!!
Gaia,
Hope your weekend brings you better times and you have a peaceful weekend.
Jack and Octo still so impressed by that amazing soup. I was thinking of some kind of soup tonight after my day of herceptin but it was in the 99s here do not exactly soup weather!! Those matzo balls look perfect.
Rose,
That's great advice for Gaia.
Proud,
I have no ice cream, can you shove some in a tube for me and send it along????
Ducky,
I really envy you your enormous family. That's something I really miss having. probably why I'm glad I married a guy who was one of four!
Ok, popping out again.

Jewel58, welcome! Beppy will be along soon for her special welcome! I saw you over at the artists posting their work, and you've made some lovely pieces with antique elements, so nice! You are in the right place! We don't keep any restraint equipment here, just lots of hugs and good food to make you feel better in the meantime. Not necessary to have a big family, Ducky will share hers!
Hmmm, Sula, I might have to get in my car and go to Santa Monica, I almost never do! (whew, that freeway), but I think with your recommendation, I might! BF's sis lives right by Culver City, so could swing a visit with her too. Good night to all! (edited to say whew that freeway instead of week

Jewel- Welcome! We are all crazy here and being together here makes us all feel a little bit more normal. Glad you've stepped in from the shadows. SlowDeepBreaths will be along soon to issue you your survival kit.
You've made a brilliant suggestion! Patsy Cline and Crazy for the Crazytown theme song! I don't think we had one of those yet. Thank you for contributing so soon after arrival.
Who will second the motion? For your consideration,
Patsy Cline Singing "Crazy" (this should be CTown theme song)
Sula- I'm so sorry. I can't let this fraud go on any longer! Yours is the only food that looks like (well actually is, in some cases), a magazine cover. QMC was in an emergency situation so Octo and I lifted our soup images from the Internet! Please be kind in meting out punishment, but we did it for Queen.

Welcome Jewel, sorry you are in the club but CT is a great place, everything under the big top. We've had clowns today, food, music, reno,... Bring your posse and sit a spell. Or swing from the trapeze. Waiting is the worst. Glad you made it through rads. Even more glad you are here!!!

Aww...already my heart is warmer. I reached out to Sula privately, months ago, and she said you were a wonderful group!! Thanks Sula! So admire your cooking abilities! I am a terrible cook! I grew up in Montana and was the tomboy who wanted to build forts and play in the forest instead of learning the skills of the kitchen! I hope to be inspired by you and others here!
Thanks for the welcome Tomboy, Jackiebirdie and rosesrx! I saw your beautiful work too Tomboy! What a fun idea the Moderators had with that thread! Thank-you all for the kind welcome!
Haha! Jackiebirdie! I am happy to contribute! Not intentionally but love it!

love the soup! I make it for my family but don't eat the matzoh balls myself. dHs mom made them with seltzer water to make them fluffy

Sula: dessert well and truly taken care of! (Chocolate with raspberry coulis by a nose for me, but my husband perked up at the pear tart.)
Tomboy: not sure they did culture the thing, just eyeballed me and tried oral antibiotics first.....which didn't work. If I'm extremely lucky, I get out tomorrow afternoon. Most probably Monday afternoon. Unlucky?Tuesday. AAAARRRGGGHH!44444444444
Roserx: thank you...sigh.

Good morning, crazies. I've been chilling out and letting the oral antibiotics do their stuff, elevating arm, all that good stuff.
Queen, sorry you're in the hospital. And going stir crazy. Hope the food sent by everyone here is doing its virtual mojo.
It has occurred to me, crazies, that in this virtual town, it's pretty clear that everyone is a certain age, i.e. old enough for pneumatic tubes rather than 3D printers to be the default mechanism for conjuring up healing substances. Just saying. And then there is Send in the Clowns....Patsy Cline....
Jewel, welcome.
Ducky, just keep posting. You're perfect the way you are, and I love your posts! Sending you a virtual hoagie or possibly some veal parmesan.
Gaia, hope your conference is rewarding.
Chloesmom, I hear ya on the insurance. Have been chipping away at a thorny problem involving not me but my basically healthy DS--takes forever.
Sula, I've gained 5 lb just on the pictures!
All for now. More later.

Yes, the food porn drive is helping immensely! Imaginary chicken matza soup with my hospital bland meals, grand.
0 -
Bento box lunch for you, QMC.
0 -
pennsy, that looks GREAT! and even though I am avoiding raw fish for the time being, the virtual kind can't hurt me!
What do you want for dinner QMC? Hope they break you out of there soon!
haha on the tubes vs 3-D printer thing...though the funny thing is, while I am definitely of a certain age, I do encounter 3-D printers more than most folks in the course of my work....and just this am: hubby and I are talking about how my slow to heal incision/wound where my nipple used to be is FINALLY healed (I had lx plus nipple removal due to the location of tumor at six o'clock just below the nipple) and how happy my bs was going to be when she sees me Tuesday for my next check up...but anyway, during the conversation I told hubby that I was going to miss the nipple and was thinking about a 3-D tattoo when this was all over. Hubby: 'no problem, we will just get one of the guys at work to print you one on the 3-D printer!'
which may actually be how they do it in the not too distant future.
HUGS TO ALL!
Octogirl

Hey hello and welcome to Jewel! You have found a great place, I love opening up the thread each day although it is tough when you are absent for a day or so!
Tomboy, did you say most folks in LA do not have AC? I am amazed as I think of LA as being much south of me in NJ and well, my AC is just on!
OK, so I confess after buying a pint of ice cream yesterday, I ended up snacking last night on good old Hard pretzels. it is the PaDutch in me that is hooked on pretzels. May do the ice cream later. Pretzels are great with wine....
Hugs to all and lets get those pals out of the hospital and healthy again, maybe the pneumatic tubes can help there?

Yeah, Proud, weird, huh? I have been in lots of houses here because of my former work. And most houses were built without A/C, and many have never got any installed. Most of the time it has not been a problem, but there have been a couple of doozie years like this one, the humidity or then yesterday like that hot wind... omg I can barely feed myself on those days. Just awful. I don't know, it never used to bother me, but other people are shrieking about it too, so I know it's not 'just me' !!! Ick. Time to go jump in the ocean again. I wish.

QMC- turning your dream into a reality. But they didn't have matzoh meal at Safeway! I must stop my pinktober ranting lon enough to complain to the Safeway manager haha. Found another source for it, happily.
Here's where I am so far: completely sidetracked by the pinktober thread this morning. Only cooking has the possibility to bring me back to earth.
