Friday, June 22, Patty was discharged to home, and hospice was at her place from 8 to 11 pm getting her settled and filing out paperwork. She had mentioned that she was comfortable at home with pain pump and pain nausea meds.

Sunday, June 24, I texted and she answered back. We talked about other stuff.

I've texted a few times since then, but Patty hasn't answered back.

I will always post if I hear from Patty.

    Thanks all for support

So yes went home from hospital last time on hospice. I had s good tripbabout 3 hours one way to the lake. My sister from Alabama was in so she took care of me. Knew it would hurt but gonna hurt anyway might as well try to live whatever life I have left. We went and watched fireworks on the lake and seen my bro and sil which I hadn't seen in prob 9 or more years. My ds2 went and my bestie also went. It was great to have a ROADTRIP. I have been in horrible pain since the night before we came home. We only stayed 3 days.

So today they admitted me to hospice house for the weekend so dr can change some of my pain meds up. I've been on the same ones for many years. The last prob 7-10 days have been either major crying pain or completely knocked out from pain meds. I really wanna find a medium and the hospice dr acted like that might be doable. Right now I am hating this portable pain pump. It's just so much to take every time I move and it tangled so easy. Got them out changing the med bags whenever it runs out so it was midnight was night and like 3am another time. Plus everywhere I go people can see it attached to my port and between that and the bald head it's pretty embarrassing for me but major embarrassing for my dss.

I don't expect to get to a zero pain scale but I do expect to be able to be alert and upright where I can at least visit with my dss instead of them seeing me miserable or asleep.

Been reading a lot today about how end of Time looks for cancer patients. So many different experiences then I have had with my family members who have died of cancer and used hospice.

Talked to the chaplain again today. My hardest part is having no control on how my dss are raised after I am gone. So much tension between them and their dad. Just want the best for them. Keep hoping their will be a rapture before my time comes and I can go to heaven with my dss. I was teasing my older brother and sister this weekend that they better be nice to me cause I am likely the first person to see mom and dad in heaven. And I will tell on them if necessary. Lol. Some people don’t get my humor but if laugh or cry are my options I choose laughter.

    Hugs

    Dearest Patty,

You are always in my thoughts and prayers.

Your experiences will guide us all. Of course, everyone's "final days/weeks/months" are different, as the path we choose for pain meds (w/the help of hospice and drs) will differ depending what WE decide to do.

It's very, very hard for you because you have young sons, and a difficult r'ship w/the boys' dad. Those of us with older kids (mid 20's and beyond) and intact marriages have it slightly easier. The kids can fend for themselves if they're out of school/college. [I'm really bickering w/DH these days...so I don't know how stable my r'ship is anymore. I guess it's the stress of knowing I won't be around, and I'm trying to get them (DH and DD) to do a little more around the house b'cuz I certainly won't be here to do it ;>).

I plan on going VSED (voluntary stopping all eating and drinking), with palliative sedation to keep me knocked out so I won't feel too much pain. Depending on how my liver and kidneys are doing at the time (i.e. how quickly they're shutting down) it may take 4 - 5 days for me to transition home to the Lord. Unfortunately, it could take longer. My matron of honor finally stopped her dialysis so she could go home, and they told her it would only take one week. She lasted almost three weeks. It was awful. So, it could take longer for me, too. Hope it doesn't, but it's not something I'll have any control over. Our Lord will take me when He decides to take me...on His time table, not mine.

I'm praying that you get great pain management and can enjoy the time you have left. It's great that you got to do a little traveling. Your attitude is that of a TRUE warrior.

Blessings to you and your family, my dear,

    Lita
