    The window of blooming sunflowers is small. ..Like the window of time we have with cancer. We can only hope God blesses us with another season filled with blooms.

    After my mom was diagnosed I was determined to share what I had seen a year before...only to find the farmer had planted corn this year! I frantically searched for another location that still had blooming sunflowers. I feared we missed the window. WE DID NOT! It would, sadly, be the first and the last time i would share the beauty of the yellow sea with my mom. It will forever be a holy place for me.

    Time- Is Never Enough.

    Wishing ForJust a Minute With You...

    When I discovered my Mom was a collector of watches, I asked her to pose for me. It seemed a fitting portrait. Her eyes tell her story. .. Deep and Blue.and Strong....Yet ,...Longing- for more time. Perfectly Frozen In Time - Beautifully.image

    Mamachickie - such beautiful tributes to your Mother.

    The loss of a mother is truly the loss of a lifetime. She is the one person who has known you from the first spark of your life.

    May God bless you as you deal with your bereavement.

    Onco, your write up below the collage speaks volumes about so many of my feelings. What a wonderful piece to express your thoughts, my thoughts, and probably everyone on this site. Ever since my dx my emotions run so close to the surface and your wonderful words brought on the tears.

    Mama, only this AM while looking in the mirror did I remember just how much I do look like my mom. She has been gone now for 23 years and I still miss her and have on occasion dreamt that I am having a phone conversation with her. Shortly after my dx I dreamt that both my parents told me I would be fine........wishful dreaming????? Your homage to your mother comes through so clearly, thank you for sharing this part of your life.

    Thank you for nice comments on my collage. I worked on it for a long time and it is quite large, that by the time I finished I was sick of it. My teacher said it was important to share it anyway and so I did.

    Mamachickie, lovely quilt/blanket. And that incredible photo is such a poignant reminder of how precious our Time Together is.

    Thanks for your post. I am amazed at how so many who are going through such challenges can take the time to respond to someone else's grief and be supportive and encouraging. I am encouraged and amazed at all the shared art. Prayers for each of you.

    Artsee, love your work. It's very bright and creative.

    Warriorwoman - how cool, an announcement of your strength and recovery

    I made a couple of new pieces, but have to rephotograph them; seems I don't have the lighting set up right

    Dear talented ladies,

    I have been sneaking peeks periodically to see all the beautiful creations from such a talented group of ladies. Some of the things I read tonight and the tributes to loved ones who have passed brought tears to my eyes. Onco, your collage must have been very cathartic. Your poem does say it all.

    I think that creative outlet for all of us brings a type of healing to our soul. Keep up the good work lady warriors. I love seeing your artistic expressions.

    oncowarrior.... I paint on the heads of tambourines. That particular one is my version of colored zentangle using fabric markers, drawing pens and a bit of acrylic paint in some places.

    Thank you!

    SPRING

    The Mother cloaks herself in green

    This early springtime morn.

    And everywhere new life is seen

    A world again reborn.

    The cycle of the seasons clicks

    Just one more turn ahead;

    We suffer time's relentless ticks;

    Lost dreams, and words unsaid.

    The silence of the Winter snow

    May once again appear;

    But only just a taste to show

    What it will bring next year.

    The swollen streams have had their fill,

    They hold it with no lack.

    And though the days are colder still,

    There is no turning back.

    We always seem to want to hold

    Onto the old ways too;

    But if your choice is always bold

    The future is for you.

    And so the Mother's cloaked in green

    This early springtime morn,

    And once again new life is seen

    As we, once more, are born.
