Not sure whether anybody still looks at this forum; it's been a while since most of us had our last treatment. But I'm curious whether anyone else has had any recent experiences like mine.

I had a "lopsided headache" that lasted from early December through the beginning of this week... and just hit me again this morning. Last month, my oncologist ordered an brainstem MRI (both with and without contrast), which came back 100% clear. YAY!!

So it's not the evil c-word, or any of those scary circulatory problems that can lead to aneurisms. DOUBLE YAY!!

My question is therefore not medical, but totally mental -- as in "am I just being Totally Mental??" Loopy

Why can't my headache just be a headache?? Will I go through the rest of my life worrying that every headache, knee pain or stubbed toe might be... Something More??

Anybody else in this boat with me? Scared

I’m triple negative so plan is AC every 2 weeks x4 then Taxol weekly x 12. I started on Feb 2. Not happy with side effects so I’m seeing a functional medicine/TCM specialist today for complementary care same as 33triple. And I’m also in Atlanta. Not sure how my medonc is going to react to adding natural medicine. Anyone else getting push back the natural medicine? The hospital nutritionist was useless so I did some research and am totally cleaning up my diet to achieve more alkalinity.

I’ve seen an acupuncturist for years and I have to say it helped me feel so much better. Had chemo on Friday with constipation as a result of Zofran and a hangover toxic feeling as well as jittery from the be steroids. Saw acupuncturist that Monday and totally alleviated the hangover feeling and the general unwell sensation.

    Onward!

elise - I'm with you! So glad your MRI was clear. Hope your headache goes away soon. Try getting more magnesium.

WarriorKat - I hated the steroids! Drink lots of liquids. I loved having pho after chemo. The gelatin helps. And magnesium helps. Hope your treatments go well.

Disclaimer: I recommend magnesium for constipation, muscle cramping, insomnia, etc. It's my Windex.

Elise-- I too would get lopsided headaches with each of my treatments. Thought it had to do with blood count drops more than anything, but MO went ahead and ordered a brain MRI with and without contrast like you described. Had it this morning and hoping to have great results just like you! How many days did you have to wait for results? Praying all clear!

Warriorkat-- I practiced complimentary methods. I checked with my MO before trying something. He usually said "doubt it will help, but go ahead." Glad I didn't have any push back. I do better feeling empowered by doing things to help my body manage through chemo. I just finished 6 treatments of TC. This last one has been the most difficult due to cumulative effect, but feeling better every day and so happy I don't have to receive any more. Good luck with acupuncture and managing your chemo!

    Best wishes all! 😃🦋🙏🏻

Serenity, thanks for the tip! Whether or not my case has anything to do with a mag deficiency, I totally agree that it's a helpful nutrient! I'll give it a shot!

Felice, I had to wait one week for results. Felt like at least a month. Praying for your results too!

WarriorKat, I also hated those steroids! My chemo was done in Ithaca (college town), so the oncology staff actually encouraged complementary homeopathics; a nurse even recommended my own acupuncturist. Nerdy

Just make sure your team is aware of *everything*, and be wary of online hacks! A friend of mine absolutely swore by colloidal silver to treat her own cancer -- before she passed away last year. Can't imagine any treatment with metals were helpful in any way! Sad

Hello Fab Febs. So great to see this thread, you all were my lifeline two years ago. I say, hooray for clear MRIs and mammos, and full stream ahead. Went to Jamaica with dd last summer and just got back from New Zealand, catching up with old gal pals. Considering how much longer to work and trying to say yes to all great ideas. Love and light to you all

Dear Fab Febs! I think of you all often and hope you are all well. I wanted to drop in and share with you my miracle!

In August of last year at the age of 40 after coming out of chemopause I got pregnant!!! My husband and I didn’t freeze eggs... she came out of nowhere on her own!

I was taking a few months to allow my body to heal and normalize before starting tamoxifen and surprise!!!

She is a darling, healthy, and happy 6 month old. I breast fed her with my one functioning breast until 2 weeks ago so I can start taking tamoxifen and have my first MRI since diagnosis. (I was pregnant last year so couldn’t get one).

    Sending love your way!!!

    Xoxo

    Hello ladies

Just checking in. I've reached my 3 year after diagnosis milestone. Still NED. Still having trouble with arthritis. it has affected my quality of life. I'm determined to not let it get to me.

Hi Valstim. I’m coming up on that same anniversary and I keep checking to be sure it’s three years. Seems like I’m not that far away from it. I have arthritis or something else causing joint pain and it’s getting in my way now. Keep wondering if it’s arthritis or the anastrozole or something worse.

Wishing you, and all of us, the best

Hi all, 33 triple what a beauty and a blessing. She is gorgeous.

I also have joint pain but am very glad to still be here, 3 years ago I was convince that I would not be!

Hi all! A friend asked for the best resources for BC and I told her about bc.org. Just checking in to say hello and hope you are all well and thriving! I switched over to a whole-food plant-based diet and lost 40 lbs. I have a lot more energy, less pain and feel a zillion times better. message me if you'd like info and I can send you some really good links.
