MexicoHeather - Hope your massage is amazing and your visit with your son is as well.

Just thought I'd update this group on what's been going on with me. Had my pet scan on 8/12, and got the results on 8/16. The SBRT in May worked on the lime sized liver tumor and lymph nodes, but unfortunately, the Xeloda failed me and there was new growth - small spot in liver & a different lymph node area. I did another 5 rounds of SBRT to attack those spots, and just started Gemzar today. The last month has been insane as an AC water leak also caused me to have to redo the entire floor of my condo right when all of my colleges were starting. Fun times, Fun times, lol! Hope all is well with everyone!

Update part 2 -- Having just finished radiation, I expected that my tumor markers would flare in my latest labs. Instead, they came down from 24.3 to 20.7. They've typically been very reliable though they've been in the normal range with small amounts of cancer, but its the lowest its been since April 2015 when I hit my lowest during NED of 19.9. That is incredibly encouraging to me! Gemzar so far has had some mild nausea and fatigue along with headaches (but I get those pretty regularly anyway). But so far.....its been manageable, and I've worked everyday, etc. Very thankful!

Yes. Thanks for the update. We didn't get the hurricane, but you still had to dry out. Big sigh. I hope everything is going well musically for your students.

Greetings, Tampa Bay! I'm baaaack. Happy HalloweenSillyHeart

Hope to see you all soon!

Unfortunately, I and my PCP feel a small lump in the outer side bra area of the same breast which had ILC. So will be having another breast ultrasound. The small part I feel is like the end of a pencil eraser. The area PCP felt is 5-6cm of more than lump. Yikes! Prayerful it's merely scar tissue from all the breast surgeries and drains.

Hey galsal! Welcome back - are you permanently back, or visiting? Sorry you are having lump issues - crossing fingers for fat necrosis, scar tissue, or another benign finding.

Hey all - we need to do a get together soon! I am happy to host a gathering but need dates of availability. Nov. 23rd, 24th, or 30th work for me. or, Dec. 1st, 7th, or 21st.

Galsal - Glad to see you check in!

For getting together -- the first 4 dates would work for me as long as I'm not quarantined for counts. Dec 7 & 21st would be more challenging due to some other commitments, but I would love to get together with everyone. Hope we can make it happen!

SpecialK - glad you are doing well down there. All is well here in The Villages. A fellow survivor and I started a survivor group here and there are 9 of us (so far who meet once a month for coffee, chit chat, support, or whatever anyone needs. So I think I probably will not be trekking down to Tampa anymore. I appreciate all of the group being so very welcoming and supportive. You are all a great group of wonderful caring women and I wish everyone the very best.

If anyone is ever up this way, please send me a PM!

    Ann

snickersmom - good to hear from you and that you are doing well, and though we will miss you it is so great that you have formed a group at The Villages and are meeting regularly! If you find yourself in Tampa for any reason please get in touch, and of course it goes without saying, you are always welcome at any of our local gatherings!

Dec 7th could work out, or perhaps the 21st? My relatives from Austria are here until 12/1.

I was at Moffitt yesterday. I'm going to have a CAT scan at the end of the month. I don't think anything is really wrong, just checking on some symptoms. I think I just had a mild case of shingles and my lymph nodes are upset about it.

Yes, back permanently. Currently house-hunting for a condo in Pinellas County. I'm open for most any date.

Great NEWS!!! It is believed to be a Cyst. There's no blood flow, echo is good, no spiculation but a purely smooth border. Follow-up in six months.

The CAT scan is off. Insurance didn't want to pay, and I am not pushing it because I feel great.

galsal - good news - on all fronts!

mexico - if you're glad no scan, then I am too!

Sorry for my extended absence, and lack of a get together plan - had a wicked case of strep. I have not been that sick in 15 years - eeesh!

Big appointment tomorrow with Dr Rutherford of TGH's Cancer Center. The VA is sending me there. Questionable complex cyst in cervix. Fibroid has mass affect on Endometrial Strip. Two separate cysts on Left Ovary have become one that is septated. Size of the two cysts combined is over 8cm. Also cyst on right ovary.

Have a bad feeling about this one since the VA has basically ignored it and merely watched it since June 2016.

Please feel free to go along in my pocket!

Thank you for such good thoughts! Well, I'm having a fully hysterectomy on Jan 3rd at TGH. We won't know if there's any cancer involved until afterward. I'm praying and accepting prayers that it is NOT, of course.

Much love and hugs to you for asking!!!

Greetings, Galsal: What a grandiose way to start the new year! I'm praying that your doctors will have great skill & wisdom and can bring you good news. May you heal quickly and move on from this episode to a peaceful (and more boring?) year. Please update us when you can.

galsal - hey you, hope the surgery brings you only good answers and is a solution to these issues. I had an abdominal TAH/BSO almost 20 years ago - it went well, hoping the same for you. Keep us posted!

Happy 2020 my Tampa area friends

Thanks, Ladies. This is rather rapid. Saw Gyn Onc on Monday, having surgery on Friday. Dr Thomas Rutherford at TGH. Have read up and he's an Ovarian expert. Still, rather concerning on how swiftly he wants this done.

    Galsal,

Prayers for speedy recovery. You gotta do what is needed. If I may add. Surgery itself has only one side effect which is no energy for a few days. Ok a few additional but all and all I am glad I got it done. Please let us know how you are doing when you feel up to posting.

    Hello ladies

Galsal, hope you are feeling better!

I was happy to have found this thread and see all the locals. I had a bilateral skin sparring mx at St Joseph women's hospital on New Year's Eve. I have my first post op appointment with the BS tomorrow morning. Hope 2020 is going ok so far for everyone. 😊

San1975 - Good luck with your appointment tomorrow! Who is your BS? Do you know which oncologist you will be seeing yet?

Nbnotes- My BS is Dr Evan Tummel with Womens care in Tampa. He just referred me today to an oncologist closer to me up in Spring Hill, Dr Rao. He is with Florida Cancer Specialists. My PS is Dr Joseph Brown. So far I’m very happy with both my BS and PS, hoping the same with the oncologist, I have my first appointment with him tomorrow morning. Just got my final pathology today, lymph node involvement so that’s why I was referred to Dr Rao.

Who is your oncologist? Just in case I’m not happy with who I was referred to.

San 1975- I see Dr. Cogburn with FCS here in Tampa, and several members see Dr. Wright in the same practice. I have been very happy with the care that I have received from Florida Cancer Specialists. I hope you will as well.

San175, thanks for the good thoughts. I hope things go smoothly for you! I'm now at home although still coughing. Seeing the Gyn Onc on Monday to review the Final Pathology report. Praying for NO cancer found!!

Galsal-Prayers and good vibes for a negative for the report! I am having surgery tomorrow morning at St Joseph’s North. My PS doesn’t like how my left skin flap is looking. So he is going to repair and re-suture. Never been to that hospital before but I trust the surgeon so I should be in good hands.

Hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to the cooler weather we are supposed to get next week 😊

San1975 - My sister had her surgeries at St Joe's North. It is a nice location, and she was very happy with the care received. Hope your experience is the same!

Galsal - Please let us know how it goes. Thinking of you!
