I am with you Michelle! I dropped off a big box and bag of "stuff" at the local thrift store yesterday to. We have a nice size utility room off our carport and it has been a disaster since we moved in 4 years ago. It was so easy to stick a box or odd item in there when moving here. I cleaned 2 areas yesterday and made one just for pool supplies.
Yesterday and today are difficult days for me. 4 years ago yesterday (the 26th of June ) our oldest daughter passed away at the age of 26. (I have a disliking of the number 26) and today is my sister's birthday. She would have been 53. She passed away unexpectedly 2 years ago. We were only 11 months apart and so very different. We didn't even look like sisters.

Vargadoll, I am so sorry for your losses. I can't imagine losing a child or sibling. Gone too soon. Were your daughter or sister diagnosed with a latent illness? I feel so bad for you and your family. Losing my dad at 89 was very heartfelt, but I knew that he lived a very long life, against all odds. He was orphaned and lived through the depression of the 1920's. I will be thinking of you this week and saying a prayer for you. I have two twin sisters who I am very different from as well. They have grandkids, I have teenagers. Sending big squeezing hugs your way (Lori does the gentle hugs.)

My sister had been sick with bronchitis for weeks. She lived in TN and I talked to her daily. I would tell her you sound like you have pneumonia. She said her doctor ordered her a chest xray for August 17th. I told her just go to the ER and get one! She died on August 14th from aspiration and insulin pump failure. 3 days before the chest xray was scheduled. She had been to an appointment at the VA medical center with her husband and sat down in her recliner when they got home and never woke up. She had only had the insulin pump a few weeks. I never felt she was a candidate for a pump because she didn't manage her diabetes that we'll to start with! I was just getting myself back together from our daughters death. She died from a drug over dose. We know she wasn't alone and the her boyfriend left her to die with her 3 year old daughter alseep in the next room. She was alone with her mother's body for atleast 8 hours. (By the estimated time of death) oddly enough it was the boyfriends mother who just happened to go her house. Coincidence, I seriously doubt that! Either way they both are in heaven and always sending me signs that everything is ok. God knows when to call his children home and I have to believe that. If I didn't I could not function. Thank you for the squeeze and prayers.

I am so sorry to hear that, Vargadoll. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers today

Michelle, I love it when I find the floor! It's a truely awesome feeling! My DS and his family will be here in about 2 weeks so I need to get the house cleaned ASAP! I hate cleaning to early as it's messy again by the time they get here. This house has no closets on the main floor and all the corners are taken up by my hubby's stuff so mine goes out into the shed or I toss it. I just want the here and now around me. Gone by years are just that, gone lol
I came across this poem the other day and thought I'd share. It reminds me of my childhood. Enjoy
In winter I get up at night
And dress by yellow candle-light.
In summer, quite the other way,
I have to go to bed by day.
And does it not seem hard to you,
When all the sky is clear and blue,
And I should like so much to play,
To have to go to bed by day?–Robert Louis Stevenson (1850–94)

Lori, you have inspired me to get out my book, from the 1800's, called "Sunlight and Shade." It is poetry by seasons. Yep, they knew about seasonal affective disorder in the 1800's. We are going to have so much fun with the poetry!!!

I just had something amazing happen for me. I say "for" and not "to" me, because I lucked into some vintage chandeliers. A women, that I don't know, advocated the price for me. They, were marked one price, and were going to charge me 5 times as much. The woman in line with me found a pricetag and called for the manager. I was able to purchase them what they were marked plus 25% off. I am so excited because I have always wanted crystal//glass chandeliers in my 100+ year old house with high ceilings. I think I have been giving so much stuff away, advocating for others, and helping my niece, that the big guy upstairs found a way to help me find something that I have always wanted.

Michelle, can you post pictures of your new to you vintage chandeliers? I love poetry, I'll have to look for my book too.
Vargadoll, oh my goodness! Such sudden sadness for you. Praying for smoother and happier times in the weeks and months ahead for you 🙏💜

The chandelier has pieces that hang down and the bulbs are directed downward from those glass saucers. I have to clean it and have it put up. When I do, I will take a much better picture. It is hard to appreciate in this picture.

I cleaned one of the chandeliers today and got it ready to be hung. My husband has to find the right parts to attach it to the power box in the ceiling. I used a photo filter on it to get the crystals to show up better in the picture. Getting excited to see this beauty hanging above my husband's grandmother's 1930's ornate dining table.

Michelle, that is gorgeous! I have to small table lamps that are very similar. They were left at a rental unit. They are not in great shape but the two together would make one gpod lamp. I had planned on redoing them before BC took over my life. I can wait to see the picture of it hanging!
Rainy here in NC today. It is a nice gentle rain so I am hoping that it will help our new grass grow!

Michelle, absolutely beautiful! I love it!
My poetry contribution for today ❤️
Warm summer sun,
Shine kindly here,
Warm southern wind,
Blow softly here.
Green sod above,
Lie light, lie light.
Good night, dear heart,
Good night, good night.–Mark Twain (1835–1910)
We're headed to Peoria on Monday then back home on Tuesday. Just a quick visit to see my MIL who has stage 4 lung cancer and she is not doing well at this point. She refused all treatments at time of second diagnosis and has just been wasting away. We were both diagnosed about a year apart, her with LC recurrence and me with BC. I decided to fight she did not. My hubby said he is proud of my decision to fight back and not give up like his mom did. So sad, she is only in her mid 70s with so much to live for. We'll watch fireworks with hubby's BF from high school which is an annual thing for us. Happy 4th of July weekend everyone! If your traveling please travel safely 💜💜💜
Gentle healing hugs to All 🤗🤗

I love the chandelier too!!! Be forewarned. Once installed, you will find that the room needs a few other "tweaks" to match the glory overhead. It should be great fun though.
I am having a weekend (mostly) away from work. However, I am in training mode as the BIG RIDE is only 2 weeks from now. I actually do the ride to force me to train and get super-fit at least once a year. Of course, the one-day riders would laugh at what I consider fit. But they are in the 0.1% of all riders, and they can laugh. I will take being fit and strong.
It's just glorious out, so got to sit out last night on my deck with a drink and fashion magazine. And I am meeting a friend for wine and jazz this evening after a spot of shopping. This will be after I do my IRS response. I got a big bill but they are missing some documentation, so fortunately I don't owe anything. But I have to write the letter and get it off along with supplying proof that I gave them the money.
It wouldn't hurt to slide by the car wash......
Wishing everyone the most wonderful weekend ever! - Claire

And, let there be light....... still more work to do on the hanging//adding replacement crystals......

Michelle, WOW! Definitely a great addition to the room! Looks lovely!
I spent yesterday chasing my 2 y/o grandson. He's such a ham! I love that baby guy! My DD and her husband are moving this weekend. (They will still be less than 5 miles from me) Chance was unpacking as fast as they were packing so he got to come to Ahhh's (he calls me Ahhh and I love it. The 3 older ones call me Gowa) for the day. I just wished the back yard wasn't a mess so we could have played outside. With all the grading for the pool we had to sow new grass. We have had scattered showers for a few days which makes it a muddy mess. We had a great time inside. The grandkids bring me such joy!
Have a blessed Sunday ladies!

Thanks, for the compliments, ladies!!! Sounds like everyone had a busy weekend. One thing we have in common is the the drive to do things: Claire on her bike, Varga with her grandchildren, Lori with her yard, me with my thinning the belongings and working on my chandy!! Last night we went out for dinner with my husband's family to celebrate a birthday. It was fun to go out. All I kept thinking about was how am I going to find a medallion to take the extra 1.5 inches between my canopy and the ceiling. Working with an older chandelier has its challenges. I think I am going to redo the second chandelier by taking it apart and redoing the metal connections between the crystals. I may have to add in some replacement crystals, because I appropriated a few to complete the chandelier in the main area.
I am still walking, but not hitting my 5 miles per day. I have been so busy that I try to get in 3 miles per day, but plan to bump it back up in a few weeks. As soon as my closet is settled, I will feel so much better and will breathe easier.

Today I kept working on how to create a space extender for 1.5 inches between my ceiling and the canopy/cap on the chandelier. I purchased some PVC pipe with a cap on it, came home, and contemplated. While contemplating, the air conditioner went out and our service was called. To Lowes I went to measure a ceiling medallion that could have been a potential space holder plus ceiling interest. While walking into the "In" door, I was looking ahead for the lighting section, and promptly rolled my ankle on six 12 foot, 2 inch round, pvc pipes that were left in the walkway by a customer. I did not fall, but instead my feet became twisted in the pipes. The customer returning the pvc pipes laughed at me. I hobbled and picked up his pipes and moved them out of the way. I also told him that it was not polite to laugh at someone that hurt themselves. I limped along the paint section and had a meltdown, my ankle swelled up and my leg hurt. Management was called and they helped me out to my car, in a wheel chair. Everyone I knew was either gone or sick. I made it home okay, but think that they need to have a procedure for returning items that does not include leaving them on the floor in front of the entry way. I was glad that I did not fall on the concrete, but probably will followup with an orthopedic specialist. Ugh.
My son left today for Las Vegas to celebrate his 21st birthday. He and two friends made it safely to the hotel. I put them at the Luxor where I stayed in April. I felt that if I needed anything, it was better to know a bit about where they were staying. a/k/a The helicopter is still flying (helicopter mom.)

Oh Michelle, so sorry to hear this. Our ability to stay active is so important to our overall well being, hurting yourself due to someone else's negligence/being inconsiderate is sooo frustrating. Take care and be proactive in getting it checked out! I'm so sick of doctor's that when I have done something new I try to avoid it...and that hasn't really worked out well.
True story -- I got my hand hurt last summer at Vacation Bible School by a band of 5 year old boys giving me the high-5....ridiculous but it really hurt my hand and by the time I finally had it checked out, I had developed a trigger thumb...that I still have! I had a cortisone shot and it relieved it for a couple of months, but trigger finger is an SE of arimidex, so once hurt and vulnerable, the SE took it's shot. The ortho said we could try a second shot and I really need to get that scheduled.
My trip to France was great! Mr Fitbit said I had over 20K steps one day, got a new badge for that! Also had two weeks of over 80K for the week...so was able to return home after 2+ weeks in France and had not gained any weight.
Happy 4th to all.

TT, did you go to any Paris flea markets? I wanted to stay in Paris for a month this year, but with everything going on internationally, it just did not feel like the right time for me. Where did you stay? Was there alot of smoking (I am so allergic)?
The 4th went off without a bang. It was a difficult day for me, as my son is celebrating his 21st birthday in Las Vegas. He did call me at midnight and sounded like he had been imbibing.

Michelle, your chandelier is beautiful! I'm sorry to hear about your foot/ankle! Is it feeling better at all yet? Did you get the name of the a**hat that left the pvc pipes laying in the walkway? I would have and told him to expect a call from my lawyer and to receive the doctor bill as well! What a fool! We'll be in the Peoria area on the weekend of Aug 5th if anyone in the area would like to meet up? That would be great!
Sending out gentle healing hugs to All 🤗

My foot // ankle area is getting better, but it hurt to put full weight on it. The manager was standing behind the counter when this happened, so they witnessed the entire event. Today was kind of down day as yesterday was my son's birthday and he was not here. For 20 years I have celebrated the 4th of July with a birthday party and fireworks. I have to plan better for future years, so that I am not sitting at home feeling sorry for myself. I took my dog to the vet today to get his toenails trimmed. We have to knock him out to do so. His nails grow in long and gnarly, so he gets a show cut - very short. I painted the ceiling medallion today and hopefully can get it hung tomorrow. I need to get back to the weeding out of unnecessary items.

We flew in/out of Paris (CDG) but never made it downtown, so missed Paris shopping. We took a northern driving tour from east-most Strasbourg on France/Germany boarder, through champagne country(Reims), over to Normandy (Rouen/Bayeux) and most west at Mont St Michel, actually staying on the Mont for two nights...that was magical...as was an afternoon in Monet's gardens in Giverney.
I have a girlfriend with a July 4th baby...at first she thought it was a bummer to have a holiday birthday, but now it is a special event focus for the family...I feel for you the disappointment of this milestone birthday away. You and your husband need to plan next year to go to your club or something!
Hope the ankle continues to heal, TT

Michelle - Hope your ankle continues to heal. Sending you healing thoughts.
TrmTab - Your vacation in France sounds magical. If the movie "Paris Can Wait" is playing in your area, would highly recommend (PS, it will make you hungry for French food). Attaching a pic of Van Gogh's Mountains at Saint-Remy (minus the accent mark over the "e") taken at the Guggenheim in NYC while on vacation last week - for everyone's viewing pleasure. .

We have to celebrate the fun stuff with each other, as well as the agony of our diagnosis. As some people say, on here, "I'm in your pocket." I think everyone is in my pocket on my adventures, vicariously. I take each and every one of your girls with me in spirit, as I trod along daily. Here is the finished product of my last 10 days adventures. I painted my medallion a "modern white" which looked more like an antique white. Now I am moving on to the next thing, a birthday party for my son at our lake club. I just finished baking him a cake, vanilla this time.

Michelle - The ceiling medallion and chandelier are stunning. Well done! What a joy to have such beauty in your home. Uplifting for sure.

Tonight was my son's 21st birthday party at our lake club. It was very nice and we had our amazing chef prepare our food. I made the cake, and it was a bit dry. I will have to figure out why that happened. It was a yellow cake as opposed to my chocolate cake. I may have baked them too long. I use 4 round pans and fill them partially full. That way, I make a four layer cake. Gluten free, of course.
I spent the day picking up a few items for my son and then had to wrap. My husband's aunt, who is our age, needed me to pick up a present from her to my son. So, I shopped a little more and dropped it to her house. Everything came together very nicely and it was a terrific birthday party!!
I am making sure to live in the moment and soak up all the fun and festivities. My new hashtag is #LIVE_EVERY_MOMENT.

The chandelier is stunning, Michelle!!! Just fun. I am off in a few to do a training ride, one which has hills, and a route I haven't done in several years. Not quite sure about the route from Monroe to Sultan, though. However, I will figure it out. One of the stops is the bakery in Sultan, well known to cyclists...think the word "legendary" fits here. Then there is the pie place in Snohomish.....
Last night was a touch of adventure as I had forgotten about the trail event in Redmond, so I had to come back via the main road. Not much space for cycling between the blackberry bushes and cars. All was just fine, and I took a different route back to my car, one I have travelled many times, but never cycling. So a bit of adventure on what was supposed to be a routine ride. No flats thank goodness.
It's glorious and sunny here, but relatively cool.
If I get moving, I will be able to hit the farmers market too.... We shall see.
Now to figure out the best way of getting to the start of my ride as they are paving the main road here thank goodness, and it's closed for the weekend. Hoping I can cross at the light, if not, It's a really round about route, but at least feasible. - Claire

Claire, you are lucky to live in such a bike friendly place and your rides sound so fun!!! Bakery, farmer's market, awesomeness!!! When I went to the University of Arizona for pharmacy school, all I had was my bike. I rode a racing motobecane, fully equipped with the curly handlebars. Later in life, I graduated to a cannondale, larger tubes and seat. No more skinny seats for me. When at the U of A, I got my groceries and blender, etc. at the Safeway, and rode my bike with a backpack to my dorm.
Today, I am glamping//glamming my patio table set. My husband pressure washed it and I am painting it a dark hammered bronze. I will take pictures and share later. It is hot here in Illinois, so I have to spray and cool off, spray and cool off. It is also taking longer for the paint to dry, even though it is spray paint. Later, I will post before and after pics.
I have learned from so many of you, don't put off what you want to do, just do it. So, I am doing, doing, and doing. No regrets. #Live_every_moment
