    Good evening ladies,

I had my PET yesterday and no results yet of course. Dr appt Tuesday. The machine is new at the place I go and I love it in comparison to old one. It's shorter and larger in circumference. Now it only takes between 16-18 minutes for a full body scan. Drink is still disgusting and of course I have no veins so... still sucks.

I change my clock when the news tells me to. LOL

Love from Philly I'm glad you checked that new fellow about her aggressive demeanor. At least that's on her record as a complaint.

Moomala I pray your new treatment works and doesn't cause you any significant SE's.

Candy maybe I need to write a comprehensive list of questions and concerns and send them through the patient portal before my appt.

Stage IV we live between asking every question proactively and asking no questions so we don't have to face Stage IV prognosis. It's a balancing act between too much reality and clarity to ignoring CANCER and living without the anxiety and stress.

    Have a good evening all

    Tanya

Moomala when I signed on today there was a promo of a new study done in Ireland about vitamin D and Breast Cancer. I didn't read it but now since I read your post I intend to read it.

Thanks for pointing that out Tanya. I am kind of proud that advice I gave would be picked to help out newcomers to this dread disease. I fully believe that advice that my social worker gave me. Once I started thinking that way, life was easier. Yes there are SE to deal with and regular life issues, but that framing of living with cancer instead of dying of cancer helps me. That was one thing my social worker gave me that really, really helped me out.

Tanya- Good idea about sending a list of questions thru patient portal before appt. But I once asked the nurse if they use the portal for messages and he said No. Portal/computer relatively new to office and they still rely on good old fashioned phone calls. And I know they are VERY busy, so I don't want to bother with extra calls. So I wait for appt and bring in my list then. Remember, rural area and still do things the old way. Sometimes I wonder if the onc sees my results just prior to walking into the exam room. Not much prep on their end. At least I have had 3 days to mull on the results.

Feeling in the dumps today - I just want my back to stop aching so I get back to swimming or even getting out of the neighborhood. I felt up to cooking last night (and made some really tasty chicken popper things from an AIP protocol recipe with chicken and sweet potato and some broccoli on the side) and by the end of it I was pretty tired. Feels like the fatigue is getting more challenging, but I sleep like a log at night! Maybe its the grey weather - wish I could book at ticket to somewhere, anywhere, even home for Thanksgiving, but I can't until I know what to expect and get a lid on things.

Does anyone know if its ok to eat pepperoni? I'm guessing no as its a preserved meat and all, but damn I would really like a pepperoni pizza.

    Philly,

I try to show respect to everyone—whether you are the janitor or the MD. But if you want to see the claws come out, push me or give me attitude, and that’s when I dig my heels in! I laughed at the comment “Bitch, you don’t know me”. So true. These folks need to be reminded that they cannot step on our patient rights. I like your approach about the constructive criticism. I’m going to try it. Will let you know how it works out.

Oh, do I miss my Philly cheesesteaks. Hubby and I usd to go into the city every year and try different places. Philly is a wonderful city

I eat whatever I want. When I want it. Especially if I have an appetite. Even just a few. But my indigestion would be horrible !!! Now I’m hungry!!

    Sondra,

Hoping your day improves. Time for popcorn and a good Hallmark movie!

BTW, those chicken poppers sound awesome

    Tanya,

Do you go to Baycare for your scans

Yeah fuck it, im going to go with the pepperoni :) Its not like the pizza is covered in it and who knows if the drugs will let me eat it ever again. Is pepperoni really the worst thing I am about to put in my body in the next week? I'm guessing not.

Of course when having a day like this a Letter from the MO shows up, which is just a summary of what we discussed. I get why they are clinical and all, but damn its like 'whole spine scan ordered due to burden of disease'. It didn't come off in the discussion that way! It makes it sound like Im going to croak any minute! Anyway, Ive started just glancing over those letters and then filing them away.

Boo - here is the recipe if interested - you can make them in different flavors and I bet they freeze real good too. I only needed about three as they were pretty filling (this is the base version, she has a Mexican one which is what we did). I don't eat AIP, but came across it when looking for new healthy recipes to try:

The one thing I miss are peanuts. Especially Reese peanut butter cups. Chocolate full of soft peanut butter filling. I grew intolerant of peanuts in 2016 and vomit and get diarrhea an hour after eating. Even so, I still miss them and wonder if I could have them now with digestive enzymes and all my drugs. Who knows.

Morning all. Well it is raining buckets here in Southern Illinois. Weather forecast says 100% chance of rain and totals of 3+ inches. So another day inside. Woohoo, not.

Sondra- I feel your down in the dumps. Me too. Fatigue, pains, and lonely. I too sleep at night, but tossing and turning with body aches. But still, the fatigue is frustrating. I sit down during the day, to read for example, and doze off. I love pepperoni pizza and I eat it. Like Mel said, I eat what I want. I am not into nutrition watching. I know of people who were health fanatics and still got cancer. So I say, especially with us Stage 4's, eat what you want. And food is comfort. So take comfort in what you want. The heartburn is rough though after the pizza.

I will be checking in here a lot today. Reading, flipping through the TV channels, and visiting here. Wish we could all get together in Mel's living room for real today. I am alone in my house and it is going to be a long day.

I had pepperoni pizza last night! It was delicious! Every Friday is pizza night here. When I'm really paying close attention to diet I make a Naan pizza with veggies and feta cheese but other weeks it's just down the hatch plain old pepperoni take out pizza. And I love it. Today for lunch I had a PBJ - which I could have easily made a salad but I was not in the mood. So I am a bit half and half on the healthy eating. It did not keep me from getting Stage 4 cancer but I figure a good balance between healthy foods and comfort foods is good for my overall wellness while I'm on treatment.

Grandkids were scheduled to come over today but they had a change of plans so I'm at loose ends this afternoon. Maybe a little outdoor work and then some piano before DH comes home from work.

okay now I want pizza ! Lol we are having fried chicken... which I love. Maybe shouldn’t but I do But only have it once a month. Can’t be that bad.. I just need to eat. I am a bird woman when it comes to eating I never know what to have. My ibrance mouth does a number some months.
meat away ladies. Moderation for everything is my way also..

Checking in. Still pouring rain here.

I cleaned out my kitchen cabinets today. Not too cluttered, but now much more organized. You know we all have the drawer, or in my case cabinet, that everything gets thrown into. I found things I forgot I had. And I wanted to clean when my cat was asleep so he wouldn't be bothering me. So that is now done.

Maybe a stroll on the treadmill next. 20 or so minutes at a slow, calm pace.

    Just a lazy, rainy Saturday.

I had pepperoni pizza yesterday :) I'm trying to get motivated to move things in my garage so my car while fit. It gets colder after this weekend.

I am busy purging things and getting them tossed out or donated at my apartment today. Moving things around so the exercise bike doesn't keep taking up the whole place. Moved some furniture around too. Cats are annoyed with me upsetting their apple cart. Did laundry and used my spin dryer. Too lazy to set up the portable drying rack so just hung them up. Also trying to get rid of my recycling. Get too many amazon boxes from some of the groceries I buy. I have all the time in the world but need to take advantage of my motivation right now before I am motivated to relax on the couch with my laptop and movies.

My SIL also brought yarn and knitting needles for me to try my hand at knitting. I am getting the hang of the basic stitches and it is enjoyable to have my hands busy too. The knitting would be great to do while waiting for my appointments and infusions. SIL tried to show me crochet but for some reason my mind can't figure the 2nd row. First row was never a problem. Knitting seems to be my craft of choice.

    Hi all 😀

I took a quick break from binge watching Whitechapel on Hulu to return a coat I purchased online, which ended up being too big. I swapped it for a size down in the store and it’s perfect. Then, while at the mall, I picked up my favorite fish tacos from the only place in Houston that does them Baja style, these tacos are so good that my eyes close when I eat then, lol. These little things have made today a great day so far.

    That sounds really good Mae.

I had a good lunch too. I order beef patties and junior chicken patties from McDonalds and grind them up so I can make other meals out of them. I took the chicken patty today and put some queso on it with nacho shredded cheese sprinkled on top. Microwaved for 90 seconds. I really enjoyed that lunch. So much better than the whole burger. Not that expensive to order for delivery either. I never get the bun or the other fixings, just the patties. I know I can buy hamburgers at the grocery store but I would have to cook them which I usually cannot be bothered with. I may try cooking some in my little Breville oven. We will see.

    hi Mel! Hi everyone!

I’m at work, 1.5 patients to go!

Then I am headed to a big wild Halloween party on a ship here in Philly. I’ve always been TERRIBLE with Halloween and getting my act together to find a costume and have some fun. So this year I made a point of getting a cute costume and purchasing tickets to an actual Halloween bash. I treated myself to vip tickets which means open bar basically. I can’t drink a lot because it gives me terrible hiccups but I will def get a top shelf something or other :-) I’ll post a pic of my costume later!

Booboo yes Philly is an awesome city. I absolutely love it here. It’s so diverse and people are cool for the most part :-) I am very lucky to have good friends here!

So one thing that happened which I am trying to figure out how I feel about is that genetics video was shared on Facebook by one of my old professors from Chinese medicine school. Now all the Chinese medicine people I went to school with and teachers know. Cats outta the bag. It’s kinda weird. I am not active on Facebook but I looked (every once in awhile I lurk there) and saw people reacting to the video and news about my health. It’s soooo weird! It’s like watching a movie. Like - huh, who are they talking about????

A lot of love coming through the messages, but still feels surreal.

Hey Mel! DH is here😊 We're currently driving 2 hours east of Nashville to have lunch with my MIL then 2 hours back. She's an amazing woman. She's 78 and still works full time as a nurse at the hospital in her town.

Candy, it's pouring rain here too. Has been since yesterday. They said we could have 4 inches by tomorrow. I expect we'll have some flooding in some areas. I knew you would handle your scan and any results with the same awesomeness you always do.

Mae, Mara, Moomala, your food talk has me starving!! It all sounds so yummy! I'm still an hour away from my lunch destination and I'm ready to eat the seatbelt, I'm hungry!!

I hope everyone is enjoying this day as much as possible.

Took a nap today. DH is processing fresh pumpkin and will be making some pumpkin goodies! He’s amazing in the kitchen... hope everyone had a good day. I spent my day with DH. It was special. Each day I get with him is. Now I can’t wait for bed. When the rain comes, I want to sleep... Hubby has to leave tomorrow... I’m gonna beg for Monday again. Wish me luck....

Good luck with the DH, Mel. Mine leaves tomorrow also. Our rain is tapering off finally. 68 and sunny here tomorrow. Looking forward to that.

Glad you enjoyed your day with DH and all his culinary goodness in the kitchen.

I had a good day. We got the rain a few of you are talking about so did not go out. It is still raining, leftover Olga. I rearranged some furniture in my apartment creating more space and did manage to get rid of stuff I was not using. I think my new furniture arrangement makes my place feel bigger. Other than that, I watched TV and movies taking it easy for the most part.

You guys got me hungry. I waver between healthy and I’m eating whatever I want. Pizza and fish tacos sounds about right. With a bottle of tums on the side.

    Sunny and warm here.

Good morning ladies~. Wow it’s raining cats and dogs here. I don’t think I will be going anywhere today, needed a grocery run. Geeze. Now it’s going to be the second wet Sunday in a row and DH has to drive home in it, which I hate! I wish he could stay. Try to dodge the rain today lovelies.
