Happy Birthday to Mel. Try to have some joy in your life today even as you ponder the heavier things going on. And eat some cake!
Candy, I know that it's hard to wait for your scan results. Take a deep breath and just for today, assume that your MO hasn't done anything with your results -- as you said, perhaps even not seeing them -- and for today at least, assume that all is stable and that's why you haven't heard anything. Unfortunately, I don't think our MOs realize how much we wait for these results and how much it impacts us when we don't see them.
Hope you have a good book to read today and that you can find some peace as you wait for your results.

I know your brother is having a rough time of it, and I am sorry you are all dealing with that but I still want to say......

Thanks BevJen. I guess I want to think our MO's have it all under control, you know. I just would like to think the docs are reviewing our cases and are on top of things. She would say.... " Ok there is progression, but I have been thinking and researching and our next step is ___". But I have to also understand she is young with 3 small kids and she is probably busy this Holiday weekend with her family and she is certainly not thinking of me and my cancer. And if she has not seen the results, we will learn them together at the appt. Not the way I wish it was.
I will be ok today. Looking forward to a TV movie tonight... about Lorena Bobbitt and that case from the past. Sounds like a good movie.
Just voicing my scan concerns here because I know you all would understand.

Happy birthday Mel. πΈ. I hope there is something for you to enjoy today, maybe just reaching the milestone of 50 and a nice meal prepared by your DH? Your brotherβs situation is a difficult one. Iβve not experienced stroke in my family but I hope he recovers well like I think many do. Iβm sure youβve been a great support for him already.
Candy, Boy do I know about your mind going all over the place while waiting for results. Do you think your doc would understand the anxiety if you brought it up? And hopefully would suggest a way to get the results to you ASAP in the future? The holiday weekend worked against you this time too. I usually donβt see my MO until a week after the scan so I call after about three days and the nurse reads me the summary over the phone. I also see my MO every other month so the scans are more like 4 months apart. Who knows how my new MO will do things after July. Good luck, please report back!! πΊ
Runor, You have a way with words. π
Tanya, Hello! Thatβs so kind of you to reply to so many of us! I have trouble remembering the posts I canβt scroll back to.. I hope youβre staying cool and comfortable. π»

Mel, Iβm sorry you are worried about your brother now. Why does life keep knocking us down, eh? It sounds like he is already doing fairly well. It will be important for him to start therapy as soon as possible. People do make amazing recoveries, so there is lots of hope!
Speaking of hope, you made it to 50! Half a century! Just keep going. Can I have a bite of that cake?

Happy 50th Birthday, Mel! This is a real milestone and it sounds like you had a lovely celebration. Your DH is definitely a keeper!
I was so sorry to read about your brotherβs stroke and, like so many here, I will keep him (and your entire family) in my prayers. It is so hard watching someone we love go through a difficult time but it is possible to recover from something like this. (And donβt forget to lean on on other people when you are feeling down.)
Take care of yourself!!

Mel so happy to hear your day was good.
My husband had a stroke in 2012 he was 62. He did physical and speech therapy afterwards. He has been going to acupuncture since then and it has extremely improved everything. You can barely tell he had a stroke no visible facial paralyzation or limp. I hope your brother gets some good physical therapy and healing.
Really a nice treat to see so many help you celebrate 50

Morning ladies.
So I just signed off from my virtual MO visit. I wanted to post here how it went. Lasted about 10 minutes. MO said my scan "looks good" and no change in treatment. I told her I had not seen results yet and could she click for it to flow to patient portal. She said to give her till end of day to finish her in-box stuff. So I don't know specifics (size of liver met this time, etc). I will be looking for results so I can read them for myself- I read every word of the results and pick it to death, you all know what I mean. We discussed my upcoming dental appt and if I could have a cleaning. Yes to cleaning, but anything else would need to be off Xgeva for a period of time. No antibiotics before cleaning--doing on week off Ibrance. She did not say when I will "see" her next. So I need to verify next appt. I go to office this afternoon for blood draw, Lupron, and Port Flush.
Thankful for no changes in treatment for now. Plan on using the next 3 months getting some things done that I need to do-- haircut next week (I hope), service vehicle, get new eyeglasses in July, etc. COVID lull before fall/winter surge and cancer "stable" till next scans. I still have to be careful about virus-- still cases in our area. But I want to do something other than sit in my house all day every day. Some things just need to get done. I will be careful though. No eating out, no in person church services, no crowds.
Hugs.

Micmel: The potted plant next to your bouquet of flowers is called a cyclamen. You can put it outside over the summer but bring it in in the fall. Belated happy birthday. Seems like you had a great day.

Betrayal~Thank you very much. I should get it it's own pot I assume I don't know much about plants and I don't want to kill the poor thing. I love it. Outside... likes sun then. Noted Thank you for your sharedknowledge, I knew someone would know. π€
Candy~So glad for your stable scans!!!!!πͺπ€β₯οΈπΎatta girl with no change in treatment either. Big deal! The virtual meetings I could get used to. Not going into see routine crap. Poke poke. How you feel? Anymore pain? Blah blah. Doing well (thank goodness) This way you see them, they issue medicine And off you go. I can hang with that! For sure. Congrats again!
I'll try not to kill that pant. !

Candy, saying it again, so happy for your good results!! I will definitely enjoy getting my haircut. My appt is tomorrow. It may be interesting with wearing a mask but Iβm up for the challenge. Enjoy your day now that the wait is over. π

Great News Candy!!! Woo Hoo!!!

Mel, all of those flowers are beautiful.
Candy, woot woot on the stable scans. That is great to hear.
I am training to walk in the heat and humidity. I have been out twice, one of those times with heavy groceries. It so humid, the real feel is 104 F. Both walks were 20 mins. I prepared by wearing a damp headscarf around my neck, I had the liner under my wig that stays cool and loaded up on sunscreen. I also used one of my older umbrellas so the sun could not hit my head and face. That makes a heck of a difference in how I perceive the heat and difficulty of the walk. It was not difficult and did not cause me any difficulty. I wore shoes and socks and leggings. I felt protected from the sun and not so hard done by with the sun beating on my head and neck. I do train for this kind of weather because I will not take a cab or bus if I can help it. Feel more comfortable walking outside. Added bonus of the heat is there were not a lot of people out. Came home, took off the wig and everything, drank water and am parked in front of a fan. My apartment is cool from my air condition. Probably going to walk after my next meal. I figure, if I can walk in this weather, there is not too much summer can do to me.
Rosie, glad to hear you can get your hair cut. Not all of us have hair that a clipper can do and it is nicer to have someone else do it. The mask will be weird but even I am adjusting to wearing a mask indoors when out in public.
