I was kind of sad when I could not log on. Quiet at home and you are my friends. I thought "Wow I am hooked on this site". Never been "hooked" on social media before. Too old for that. LOL. I rely on you guys. Thought if BCO would quit I would really miss you all.

Candy-678: I was thinking the same thing yesterday. I thought how I didn’t have a different method of reaching out to the fine metsters here and that was sad. Felt alone, for sure, even with other family members home with me. I don’t talk about BC pains, SE, and worries with family as I figure they have enough to deal with with me being terminal. Was glad to reconnect last night

Dodgers- Kind of scary how much I rely on you guys. I did reach out to one member and we traded phone numbers, but otherwise no way to connect to eachother.

What was Lindalou's screen name? When did she last post? And what Thread?

Tanya~ I am going to send you out some masks. Please pm me your address. If any of you ladies would like some as well let me know. I’ll do my bet to end them out as I get requests. My sisters can share them with me. So let me know if you have any interest.

Yesterday I couldn’t log in. The item was down Or the server. It was on and off all day long. I got kicked a few times as well. It wasn’t just you ladies. I was thinking something was wrong with my account.

Glad you’re back on, Candy and Dodgers. I think of everyone here as my friends too. I’m not always part of the conversation but even in real life I’m kinda quiet in a big group! But I do check in here and a few other threads pretty often and would miss it a lot if I couldn’t. 👋 to everyone here!

I’m sorry to hear about Lindalou. Crappy disease.

    Tanya, how are you doing

Rosie thanks for asking still having a slight headache at the end of the day. Nothing more no dizziness. Wednesday started my day off of ibrance so finally felt energy today and so I did a pool workout, made a good dinner and drank a lot of water.

GiGi27 Sad to hear about lindalou. I remember her posting. Always supportive and kind. Condolences to her DH family and friends.

    Where’s Mara?

Candy I check in daily here too and if I don’t I miss you guys. I don’t talk cancer with family really. I did tell my DD about Tuesday night though.

Dodgers girl I agree about family cancer talk. I also don’t let them talk as if I’m going to be around and the cancer is not stage 4. You know just keep it reality based but not too dismal. Does that make sense?

Mel thank you and I’ll message you.

    Have a good night all.

    Tanya

Tanya, yes, I agree with your post. I do want my family to understand that I am terminal but I don’t want to add stress to their lives by talking about my SE or fears, etc.

You all provide a safe place to say how I feel and to ask questions. And following everyone’s experiences here let’s me learn and see ways of coping, and paths of hope. You all rock

    Waving fervently to all

Candy, Denny123 posted on the Xeloda thread she had the same connection problems as you and she notified the Mods. Re: Lindalou, that was her screen name. She last posted in the brain mets thread in May 2019 I think, but she was "last seen" in Dec 2019. I first met her on the bone mets thread, but she later posted here and also on the liver mets thread. She notified this thread about Keetmom's passing.

    Tany,

So glad you are feeling better. You are my FL sister, and I’d be there if you ever needed me.

I am the same as the rest....don’t share much about my cancer with my DH. He always says that I’m going to live a long time. Denial works for him, so I’m fine with that. Whatever works!

Today is my 60th birthday! It feels so weird to say 60. I’ve never been one who cares about age numbers, but 60 sounds OLD! Of course, I don’t feel old, but my body does. Anyway, quiet day at home. Hubby is making me a nice dinner....bought flowers and candy....

I feel the same as you all. Would not be able to function properly without Mel’s living room. Thank you all for being here. We really are a family.

I did not know Lindalou, but I am still sad when we lose a MBC sister. May she Rest In Peace.

Happy Birthday booboo! I remember turning 60 very well. It seemed like that was the turning point to old age. I didn't mind that too much, but it was a bit startling. I hope you have a lovely day!

I'm still struggling with back pain and weight gain. I had an epidural injection but they injected the wrong vertebra and made my situation way worse. I am very hesitant to go back for another injection. So for the moment I'm stuck in a chair with a heating pad. I am trying to walk as much as possible but basically walking to the kitchen and back is about all I can handle. I got my lumbar and thoracic MRIs back and they are pretty much a mess. I don't know what they can do for me other than pain management, which they are not doing a great job with. My oncologist has gotten involved but you have to go through a certain medication protocol and she's following it too. sigh. Not having a great summer at all. Gross realization that pain meds only give some relief - not a hundred percent.

The weight gain is not happening yet. I am as skinny as could be and so ashamed of it that i am actively keeping people from seeing me. The oncologist is stumped. I am eating normally and adding ice cream and cake a few times a week. I upped all my dairy from zero percent milk fat to 2-4 percent. So we just do not understand it. I'm hoping at this week's check up to have gained few pounds this month.

I did not know LindaLou but I also feel so terribly sad losing MBC friend. Damn this disease.

    Morning all.

Kind of interesting about you all having family- DH, etc- and still not talking much to them about the cancer. I live alone. I do have 2 sisters and a brother, but they have their own situations/families. And I do not live with them. I would think that living with someone would be different. Could cry on their shoulder, etc. I am kind of comforted that I am not alone on that front--- that we here can rely on each other to discuss the hard things/feelings we are going thru. We need to be able to talk with someone about all this. I do, at least, or I would explode.

Thanks Bliss. I guess I didn't know her. But may she Rest in Peace.

Booboo- Happy 60th!!!!! I turn 50 in the fall. So not too far behind you.

Moomala- I wish they could do more for your pain. I have chronic low back disc issues. I sleep with multiple pillows and sometimes have to sleep pretty much sitting upright. I feel like when I complain to my PCP it goes in one ear and out the other.

So church service online in a bit and then not much. Still have not found that "thing" to keep me busy.

Sorry to hear of Lindalou's passing. I did not personally know her but seen her around for sure for many years.

Happy Birthday Laurie, Have a good day.

Candy, I am having one of those days myself. Not sure what if anything I want to do. Doing some laundry now, mixed up some more laundry detergent. That was about it.

Moomala, if I could, I would split my ability to gain weight with you. I know we cannot do that, but I would definitely let you have it.

I will probably walk indoors today unless DB and SIL text to go out. Going to get dressed. If not, treadmill walking will do. Got a hole in a pretty shirt I have so will repair as I sit here. The only other interesting thing of note for me is that Costco has been added as one of the stores I can shop from on the instacart website. I don't have a membership with Costco so this is an interesting development. Don't have anything I need now but if laundry supplies ever run out, I would order bulk from there. Would have to compare food prices as well. May need to have someone come in and build me a tall pantry in the living room to accomplish this as I woiuild need good storage.

Everyone else, Bliss, Tanya and Mel with the masks, have a good day. Anybody else I missed and I know I did, you have a good day to and in pockets for anyone needing that.

Mara - Costco in the UK has an online membership option that is a third the price of the in-warehouse version, and they deliver a certain range of groceries/goods for a flat fee. While I love a good warehouse wander, we can't drive here, don't have a car, and can't store a lot anyway so the online option would work for us to use once or twice a year. Perhaps something to look into?

    Happy 60th Boo!

Moomala - how the hell do they inject the wrong vertebrae? Jeez does that suck! Are you eating plenty of carbs as well? Like full on lasagna and mac and cheese, etc? Lord knows it sounds appealing to be in the position to have to put on weight but to actually achieve it is another matter. My brother was sucking down milkshakes and pizza left, right, and center to gain some padding before his head and neck cancer treatment started and then he almost didn't get to leave at the end because he was a little too close to underweight so he hit the shakes as much as he could since everything tasted like ash by that point. He really had to force it to even gain a pound, so I don't envy your struggle :/ I hope you get some relief soon.

Hello to everyone else - have a nice, cool Sunday!

    happy birthday Boo!!! 🎂🍰🍦

Moomala - sorry to hear about the pain. Pain is so exhausting. I hope you get some more relief soon.

Candy - have a lovely day. Wish we could all get together for a gossip & sweet treats & tea IRL

I had a hard time logging in yesterday and then when I got in, my posts disappeared. I missed the board!

I'm watching a hallmark movie (a dash of love) to start the day - & then I will see if I'm up to tackling some clutter in my room.

booboo, Happy 60th Birthday! I'll be 62 in December. When I reached that milestone, I thought, too, it sounds so odd to say I'm 60, but then again, I was so happy to have reached it. Now I'm out to collect as many as I can.

My mother will be 88 in October, and I swear, I feel as old as her. She's one I can talk to about my BC although I know it bothers her to think of me dying maybe before her. I told her we're kind of in a race to see who goes first. My husband listens, but he likes some denial, too.

Moomala, That's awful you're having such terrible pain. I hope they get to some good management for you. Pain just makes everything else worse. Here's to you gaining some weight, too.

Sending hugs, love and hellos to all.

Booboo, Happy 60th!! 🎂. I hope you're having a nice day. 🌻. I have about one more week of being 60.

Moomala, That's so infuriating that you're now in more pain due to an error with your injection. I wish there was something we could do for you. I hope the weight gain comes. I was going to suggest more heavy calorie/carb things like pizza, and burgers but looked back and you said you were eating normally. I know they're not really healthy though. It's definitely puzzling.

Mel, that's really great that you're enjoying the mask making. It looks like they'll be needed for a while so I'm sure they'll be useful. Ohio just started a statewide mandate for masks since things have ticked up here in the last month or so.

Hi Minnie! Nice to see you here.

Tanya, I'm glad things have improved some for you.

Not much new with me. Hot weather with humidity and trying to take walks in the morning or evening, occasionally both. Sticky feeling skin. I wear a Fitbit and have a goal of 7,000 steps a day. I usually don't even make that. I know some of you do a lot more walking. DH has turned a corner with his stomach bug but it took about two plus weeks. The negative Covid result was nice to get. I don't have any constructive hobbies either. I do like jigsaw puzzles and traded some back and forth with my sister. Some can't stand them, I know!

    I didn’t know Lindalou. I’m sorry she’s passed.

Moomala, I also can’t gain weight, but mine is because the cancer is in my stomach. You’re not having trouble filling up too quickly, are you? That’s how it started for me, I felt full really quickly and lost a lot of weight in a short amount of time. I have stayed within one or two pounds of the same weight for over a year. I have to say I pretty much can eat whatever I want and not gain. Not the best way to stay thin. I finally stabilized with losing once they put me on the Ibrance and Letrozole.

I’m sorry about your back. When you say your back is a mess, is it cancer or something else? I have a little trouble keeping everyone’s diagnosis straight, even when I read them.

booboo, happy birthday. I hope you had a great day.

So I went to bed at 8:30 last night and woke up at 5:20 this morning. You should have seen my face when I looked at the clock. I can’t remember the last time I slept through the night. I am celebrating because it probably won’t happen again for a while. I’m usually up three to four times a night just to pee. LOL

Sondra, that is good to have direct delivery from costco themselves. The instacart allows me to shop a few grocery stores, Walmart and now Costco and have it delivered in a couple hours. I don't need anything yet but when I need laundry supplies or soap, I'll get it there.boo

Laurie, that part of your dinner looks delicious. Bet you really enjoyed it.

I took my nap today under a handmade quilt donated to chemo patients. I got it in 2018. When I started school I in Sep 2018 I was still doing rads and would go to my van between lectures and take a nap with this quilt. The volunteers who used to give out the quilts (& had a trolley with hot drinks and snacks) are not allowed in the cancer center since covid so I guess the new pts aren't getting quilts anymore. I feel lucky

Booboo, I love it, looks delicious!

DH and I went to Whole Foods today for seafood, we prefer ours from non Asian waters. I’m happy to report that I cooked (except the scallops, DH seared those). We had blackened snapper, seared scallops, roasted carrots and wild rice. It was so yummy!
