booboo - glad it's cushing! I mean not glad but yes, it's treatable! We had lots of dogs come through rescue with cushing because their prev owners woudn't even go to the vet to get a diagnosis, never mind agree to treat. (Grrrrr. I had to step away from rescue cuz it was making me hate people)
On the topic of metastatic representation, from the alternatives to pink crap thread, this ribbon is very clever. Adds blue for men and tints 30% black to signify the ones who die. If you carry sharpies it's a quick edit to pink ribbon signs posted in offices etc for pinktober :P

I found a tri colour one as well that represents metastatic and updated my facebook picture with it. I also gave the figure from the article I posted that only 3 to 5 per cent of funding raised goes to early stages versus metastatic. I also noted on my page that 30 percent of people diagnosed early stage will become metastatic. I don't honestly know if that includes people who are Stage IV De Novo. I just hate being awash in all the pink crap.

Yay, booboo. I’m so happy you can treat. My guy got so fat, and I just tried so hard to get him skinnier. As I said, he survived two more years. It was awesome. You’re too sweet thinking I should have been a vet. I’ve had seven dogs through my marriage, and all of them had one issue or another. Strangely, my first mutt was in great shape her whole life. She was husky schnauzer. Dad was the schnauzer, of course. The other mutt I had was the one I just lost. He was petrified of fireworks and thunder. One had really bad allergies. One rolled over and peed every time someone came in the door and greeted her. Lol. One boy loved to lift and pee in the house every now and again. I wouldn’t have traded any of them.

Speaking of pets, DH and I will be looking to adopt 2 dogs from the local shelter once we’re settled out there. I picked some to get to know better, if there still available when we’re ready. The middle one really makes me laugh with that “derp” face.

This morning I went to Dollar store, early, for some stuff. Now I am going to sit down and try to attend some of the New York MBC conference sponsored by Susan Komen, virtual and free. Then Zoom gaming tonight.

KBL, we’re going to pick two, preferably a bonded pair, otherwise two that the shelter knows get along. Personality is a big part but we wouldn’t know that until we meet them. As far as looks go, Alana makes me laugh, Ramsey has very interesting pigment markings and Jaclyn just looks so sweet. It was tough just narrowing it down to those 7 finalists, lol

hlo i hope ur doing well i need my mother was dianosed with breast cancer 7 years ago after matestocmy chemo and radio therapy she ot well now after 7 years she diagnosed with metasasis in bones that is now spread to lungs and liver too i donT UNDERSTAND WHAT Should i do she is taking armidex endoxan and xeloda doctors are saying to go through liver biopsy to confirm her PR ER and HER 2 neu status
actually she 7 years ago when 1st biopsy was done she was weakly positive ER andPR and HER @ NEU is equivocal
plz advice me any should we go through liver biopsy or no she get too weak due to recurring pleural effusion

Mae, Ramsey would be my top pic with his looks but I'm not a pet owner and I'm sure personality is more important than looks. (He called me!). Getting two seems very kind of you, for them to each have a dog buddy. How far away is your new home (cabin?) from your current home? I missed something I think!
Sarakhan, I would suggest your mom have the liver biopsy. For me it was a pretty easy procedure (no pain other than IV for pain and calming meds). Knowing her tumor specs is important for treatment. Best wishes for your mom.

I agree the liver biopsy wasn’t bad. She should absolutely have that. I don’t think theyd move forward without it. Xeloda sounds reasonable. They. Just need more information. In order to treat her the best way possible. I wish you luck darling.

Mae, that’s a great idea. I had the opportunity at the time to take my doxie’s sister. I chose not to have two puppies at the same time because I had my big guy. Sometimes I regret it, but she’s doing fine by herself now. I think she is going to be our last. She’s 2.5, and with me being sick, I don’t want my husband to have to have two die on him in the future. It’s too tough. She goes almost everywhere with us and loves it.

Rosie, the cabin is 9 a nine hour drive from Houston. It’s beautiful and isolated, which we like. We previously had 6 bulldogs and that was a lot of work but two seems reasonable. Sometimes an owner gives them up or dies and I just hate to see a pair split up, if there’s no situation like that, then we want two who like each other, I’m over breaking up dog fights, too stressful.

Hello all.
Just finished church service online. They mentioned a conference next Saturday I wish I could go to----blasted Covid. Wait... I have MRI next Saturday. Blasted cancer. Then they mentioned a weiner roast and bonfire on Halloween night. Yet again, Covid. I know outside event, but most won't wear masks (they think silly) so I do not feel comfortable with being there. I love October. I love Halloween. I wish I could enjoy things again. This is a lonely time.
Watched some of MBC conference yesterday (online). Another couple of sessions today. Pretty good. Learned some stuff.
Miss Moomala too. And Philly. We meet people here and then they leave. Sad.

Mae~thats a very scary thing to be in the middle of. You could be injured. I agree you have to be sure they get along. No question. I am so jealous. I miss my Tag! 💔 but happy for you guys I remember your loss of your dog as well. I wouldn’t want to replace Tag because I don’t want to have to do it all over again, it is a lot easier with just one than two. I’d rather have Tag back. But since I can’t do that, I won’t replace him. He’s not replaceable anyway. Those dogs are precious. I seriously couldn’t choose.......9 hours is quite a haul! Wow!

Candy, I am sorry COVID is causing so many missed opportunities for you. Cancer sucks enough but covid is also bad. Our province has rolled back some of the stuff that opened up and is suggesting we stay within our social bubble for now again. We have been declared to be in a second wave. Some regions are worse off like Toronto and Ottawa as well. I stay within my family, older DB and SIL along with niece, her partner and nephews. I don't think I would be seeing my other friends for a while. I will shop while I can and our restaurants still allow eat in here in London. Our university students are being fined now if they hold a party, 10000 dollars and people attending risk a 750 fine. I hope bylaw enforcement is in full force. I must say there were a couple of people I noticed on the bus without masks and it took everything in me not to say something. I figure if the driver is not enforcing and he is protected by a plastic box, I am not the enforcer either. Just thought really dirty thoughts about them.
I have mostly been walking on the treadmill and doing my elliptical as well. Not sure what else I may want to do I should do up some laundry and take out garbage as well. I need to make up some liquid fabric softener out of my dryer sheets and some vinegar. Works just as well and is still cheaper as I just use a dryer sheet per litre of stuff. Only put a cups worth of the actual fabric softener liquid. I put 375 ml of vinegar, another 375 ml of water (totalling 3 cups), one dryer sheet, Put it in the microwave for 5 mins to bring more solution out of the dryer sheet. Once done, I remove the dryer sheet and then top it off with 250 ml of actual fabric softener. Creates a thinner more water texture but will soften clothes just as fast and save a lot of money. I also find the vinegar and dryer sheet done this way keep clothes from getting the build up. The smell is toned down a lot. I would just use vinegar but I don't like NO smell at all. I just love concocting my fabric softener and liquid detergents as well as my powdered ingredients.

I agree about Moomala and Philly. Especially with stage IV, we always fear the worst for people even if they are just taking a board break but I am aware both are dealing with a lot healthwise from what I have read. I have tried to check their last few posts. I am hoping they both do better soon and I am in their pockets whether they realize I am there or not.

My oncologist told me to like my House because I'll be spending a lot of time in it. It's not going anywhere anytime soon. Masks are going to be the norm and it's going to last after winter yet until a vaccine. He said people Like us are at high risk, we shouldn't take chances and do anything to put ourselves at risk. No community gatherings. No hospital groups. No where I don't have to be. It spreads with crowds and a lot of close proximity being together. He said none of that for me. He went out of his way to talk about it. So I got the hint. I don't want to deal with anymore sickness. We have to keep our homes and people around us protected. I haven't seen some friends in over 10 months. My best friend. Never would happen ever before. Sucks. This is just unreal

I agree that for anybody used to seeing friends often, family too, this is very hard which is why I think so many people are bucking the masks and not staying home. Getting more volatile about the issues too. So much stress involved. I don't stress so much but that is just because I only see family on a regular basis. Not all of them either. I have so much hand sanitizer, I could sink a ship because all the weeks after it was more readily available, I started picking up one or two per grocery trip. I ordered purell from my local dollar store website as well. I fill those up and keep those in my purse with the bigger container filling up the smaller ones. Even got the stuff from bath and bodyworks. I sanitize when I leave home from my building. Sanitize upon entering a store. Use my own bag at the store. Sanitize upon leaving. Sanitize after getting on the bus and off the bus too. Sanitize again after entering the building I live at and my keys too. The rest of the time, I steam bags I have brought home and that is sufficient to kill any infection. I also wash hands with soap and water too. Never done so much sanitizing as I do. I intend to get a flu shot as well. May keep up the sanitizer anyway as a way to avoid cold and flu. May wear masks when out and about going forward as I am past the age that I care what people think of how I look.

Today was the third straight day of rain here. And not like a light mist - like RAIN. The cats are all confused and agitated and BORED, which means they are driving us nuts!
I did walk to the store today in the rain and got fruit and veg for the week and then came home and made a pumpkin bread with maple glaze and a multi-step process vegan lasagna that turned out awesome. I'd been saving that recipe for a boring weekend afternoon and today was IT. Talked to parents - they said Covid is really bad in their area so have remained hunkered down at home. Still glad we didn't waste the time/money on traveling back.
Day off tomorrow, which will be spent seeing the second-opinion MO in the morning and writing a cover letter for a potential job move to another department in the afternoon. Should probably workout and clean the bathrooms as it feels like I am through the fatigue days for the month.
Mae - is that cabin still in Texas?
I wonder about Moomala and Philly too - they have both been on my mind over the last few weeks.

DH is getting overwhelmed by all his stuff in the garage. He said “you know this might not happen by Halloween, right? Have you considered that?” I replied “no, I did not consider that at all, I was under the impression we we’re doing whatever it takes”. He’s been pretty busy since then.

Here's DH's birthday dinner. Spinach and feta bacon wrapped stuffed chicken with roasted rainbow carrots and red potatoes. Dessert was an apple and walnut filing in puff pastry with vanilla ice cream.

How is Deeohgee doing? I know our time will come for Huey, and I’m wondering how Teddi will react when Huey is gone. He’s never known a time when Huey wasn’t here, so it will be an adjustment, that’s for sure. Thinking of you. My heart hurts thinking of you missing him.
My niece got married yesterday and of course I as the only family member not there. So yes, COVID sucks. I am trying to hang in there like the rest of you. But this IS going to pass. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but before we know it. We just have to keep on supporting each other through this.
