mocame: So glad you got the stitches out. Did they not see the black ends of the thread when they were removing? Can you take them out with some tweezers? I'm always doing my own 'nursing' so don't do everything I do.
I might have to pick both your brains about selling online. I need to get rid of some of my treasures to make room for others. Have either of you tried Etsy? I'll look into Ebay and Facebook as well.

It was just the ends of the stitches and yes, Kamboka, I did pull them out by myself. Yay!
I have not sold on Etsy but I have sold on Facebook locally (I don't ship the items). I've had okay luck selling things. I've had someone drive almost 2 hours for a $10 item (ended up selling her more things for another $10). But I've also had some scammers and a few people that said they were coming and never show up. I hear that from a lot of people that the buys don't show up. I've only sold maybe 1/3 of the things I listed. I also do porch pickup, that way I don't have to be there. But you could also meet the person at a neutral location.

Hi, Ladies. I have not sold on Etsy, only on Ebay. I glad you got those stitches out. That is a relief.

mocame: Glad you got those stitches out. My niece couldn't believe that I picked a splinter out of my hand. I asked her but she was scared. I had to do it with my non-dominate hand since it was starting to get infected.
I've had fairly good luck selling small dollar things on Facebook but normally I have to reduce the prices. There are a fair amount of folks who say they are coming and never show up. I've gotten better with weeding out those folks and not giving my address. I need to take some photos and start listing some things soon.
Today I had one of my palm trees trimmed. They took almost four hours and didn't do the greatest job but at least I got a reduced price. Homeownership is costly--always something.

Kamboka, I wait to trim the trees until after all the cold weather is gone. Feb. is usually the worst month for freezing and we usually have at least one more freeze in March. The storm of the century aka No Name was in March. My bird of paradise is looking pretty sad. It was a mild winter last year and it really grew.

petite1: A few of my flowers that I planted in October didn't do well with the freeze we had at Christmas time. I think it will come back alive when the weathers gets warmer. I love bird of paradises. I hope yours survives. The tree guys yesterday said I had a "dud" Magnolia tree. I've been complaining that it never blooms and they said mine was the kind that didn't. It sheds so much, at least I was hoping for some beautiful white blooms.

Kamboka, that is too bad about the Magnolia tree. I love the big white blooms.

I am so jealous of you two! You keep talking about frosts and freezes while I am happy if it gets to be a high of 40 to 45! LOL!
I apologize if I haven't been on here lately or may not be on here much in the next month or so. This is our busiest time at work. With me being off for the surgery and then off again because I was sick, I am way behind on my work and it all has to be done within the next month.
What is the vaccine situation where you are? I am hoping to get my 1st vaccine done on 1/19. My work has another company coming in tomorrow to do some employees and residents but they have a lot more paperwork involved to get it done and it's a different vaccine maker than before. I'd like to keep with the same company/vaccine as the majority of employees and residents have had. We haven't had anyone have any major side effects so far but I know the 2nd round is supposed to be the worst.

mocame, The Dept. of Health has a drive through for people 65 and up. It has very long lines. Publix is providing them by appointment. The website went down when they ran out of appointments. I haven't tried since. I will check after 9 and see how it is looking.

I think I will wait for the vaccine until I'm forced to take it for work. It might be required to travel again. Tomorrow, I go for my nerve block in my back. Wish me luck.
My brother and sister in law are coming on Thursday for the weekend. I'm so excited. We are very close and he is also good to help me do repairs around the house.
I had my palm tree trimmed. They took off the dead fronds and then they were supposed to 'scale' it. They did the bottom half really nice and then I think they gave up. The hacked the heck out of the rest of the tree. I am feeling sorry for the tree.
mocame: With my old job, the busy season for May and June. I'm not sure if I will have one with this new job. It will get busy if the new Administration decides to give more money internationally. Then I'll get busy.

The nerve block didn't really work. I had to get over 50% improvement to move to the next step. I didn't get much relief. That means there is some other problem that is causing the pain and muscle weakness. Oh well, I guess that means another office visit to strategize on something else.

Kamboka, I am sorry to hear. What happens now?
My BFF is having cold like symptoms and is getting tested for COVID today.
0 -
Kamikaze - That stinks that the pain block didn't do anything for you. I hope they can get it figured out and quickly. Could it be a pinched nerve?
Petite1 - I hope your BFF tests negative and its just a cold. I'm hearing more and more people getting it and it seems to be affecting the women the worst.
0 -
mocame, Just heard from my brother. He is sick and got tested yesterday. It is closing in on me.
0 -
petite1: Keeping my fingers crossed that your family and friends are negative. Two days ago I had another relative that died with COVID. She had been in the nursing home with problems for years so COVID just pushed her over the edge.
mocame: Since the nerve block didn't work, they will probably rule out a pinched nerve. I'm still have the muscle weakness but like most medical folks nowadays, they seem to only be able to work on one thing at a time.
My brother is coming tomorrow and I forgot to fill up the hot tub. Luckily he called me to remind me. I'm too scared to go outside in the dark since that's where I saw that snake a few months ago. I'll have to wait until morning. The heater will take all day to warm it up. They are bringing their bikes. I bought one months ago but haven't ridden yet. I might try.

Good morning, ladies. No results on my BFF and brother, as yet. Another gray day. I am ready for warmth and sunshine.

It was nice here today but tomorrow morning I think will be gloomy. The weekend will be cool (high 50s) with wind. We are supposed to ride bikes. I guess that's good weather for exercising.

Petite1 - I hope your family and friend are negative. My SIL tested negative twice but had all the classic COVID symptoms including no smell or taste. Dr's to her probably false negatives and to act like she has it.
Kamboka - High 50s sounds wonderful! LOL. We hit 49 yesterday and people were outside enjoying the warm temps. I hope you have a great time with your family and get to also enjoy the hot tub.

Good morning, ladies. It was 37 when I got up and going into the 60's with rain around 3:00. I wanted to take a nice walk while the sun is out. No one has the test results back, maybe today. My left arm has been tingling all the way down to my ribs. I wonder is that is SE or something else. My fingers are not working.
0 -
petite1: That is some strange symptoms with the tingling down to your ribs. Have you had this before? Do you have a portal where you can at least write the doctor and let them know? Remind me if you had neuropathy from chemo or something else.
We did the hot tub tonight and it was so nice. We'll do tomorrow as they will leave on Sunday.
We had about 15 minutes of rain today and it was nice and in the mid to upper 60s. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny but only in the high 50s with wind. We might drive up the coast to Fernandina Beach or go down to St. Augustine after the bike rides.

Kamboka, I have had it in the arm before. I think it may be from have the lymph nodes removed. As I am typing it is in my deltoid. I took benadryl last night and slept good.
Both my brother and bff have tested positive for COVID. My brother has more symptoms. I am surprised he got it. He is a germaphobe. They say wearing a mask protects others, not you. If he was with others that did not have on a mask, he could have been exposed. My friend does morning walks with her neighbors and one of them tested positive, so she may have gotten it from them. They don't wear masks when they are walking.
0 -
petite1: I always try to remember that 99% of people recover from COVID. Hoping your folks have an easy time with it and recuperate soon.
Those lymph nodes can cause problems. I keep my fingers crossed that mine will not have problems.
Today I rode my bike. First time in almost 40 years to be on a bike. I rode with my brother and SIL for about quarter of a mile and then turned around and went back to my car and left. They stayed in the park and rode for almost two hours.
0 -
Kamboka, That probably all I could do. I use stationary bikes, but it is not the same. My friend is doing well. My brother has more problems. He sounded down, last we talked. His wife is in North Carolina taking care of her mother. I think he is wishing she was home to take care of him.

Petite1 - I'm sorry they tested negative. I know people that have had it to only have mild symptoms but some struggled a lot. My SIL supposedly had it. She had every symptom including no taste or smell...but tested negative twice. Her husband didn't have symptoms and tested positive. A lot of people around here are talking about the connection between your blood type and how easily you get it/how well you do with it. A and AB tend to get it worse and O does the best.
Kamboka - I'm glad you are having a great time with your family. Enjoy that hot tub!

Good morning, ladies. My brother and my friend are doing better. Freeze warnings for tonight into the morning. That hot tub sounds good.

Glad your family are feeling better. One of mom's friends died on Friday. He was in his 80s but healthy. He just got the COVID vaccine that morning. By the afternoon, his wife said he was almost catatonic. She barely got him into the bed after he was just sitting in the chair not moving for hours. She called her daughter who came and call an ambulance. He died that night. My mom is not going to take the vaccine now. I found an article online that 55+ people in the USA and 30 in Norway died after vaccination. We are damned if we do and damned if we don't.
My sister in law is from New Orleans. She did a shrimp boil on Saturday night with fresh shrimp off the boat from Mayport. Oh my, it was so good.

Petite1 - I'm glad your family is doing better. I mean to say positive in my post, not negative. Duh moment. I must've been tired. It was a little after 5:00AM when I posted that.
Kamboka - I'm sorry about your mom's friend. I should've read this post tonight instead of this morning...I'm supposed to get the vaccine today. I wonder which vaccine he got. I haven't heard of many reactions to it but from what I have heard, it's more the people who got the Moderna vaccine that had reactions.

Kamboka, Sorry to hear about your mom's friend. Scary stuff. On the bright side. YUM shrimp boil!
mocame, Both are continuing to better. I haven't gotten the vaccine. Publix keeps filling up appointments. Maybe I'll just wait.

I Googled and found these articles about the vaccine deaths.

Well, I got the 1st dose of the vaccine at work. It didn't hurt or bother me until about the time I went to bed when my arm started to feel sore. Kind of like a flu shot. It's also the side that I usually sleep on so that didn't help the soreness. The whole setup to get the vaccine at work didn't go well. It wasn't very organized and I waited almost 2 hours in line and had to wear an N95 mask because so many employees showed up for either their 1st or 2nd dose. The company/people administering the vaccine weren't great either, except for the one pharmacist who was giving the vaccine. I have a list of allergies to medications plus all of my health issues and answered the questions on the form accordingly. The girl at the computer station was going through the paperwork really fast and I don't even think she looked at my answers. She never asked me about what my allergies were and I thought maybe the person administering the vaccine was going to do it, when I heard her ask someone else what their allergy was. That same girl then started administering the vaccine because the lines were so long and unfortunately I got her. When it was my turn, I told her I had a list of allergies and she stopped and asked what they were, so I got out my list to show her. She didn't see anything of concern. You have to wait 15 minutes afterwards for any reactions but they didn't put out enough chairs (socially distanced) and people were getting done with their shots and had nowhere to sit. Other people got up and left within 5 to 10 minutes of getting the shot to let someone else sit down. You were left to monitor when the 15 minutes was up. I stayed for the whole time to make sure I was fine.
Our governor just said that now people over 65 and are high risk can now get the vaccine and gave a list of places to get an appointment. From what I've been hearing, the companies on the list didn't know ahead that the governor was going to announce that and were not prepared. If you could get through to the companies, they didn't have any availability until March. I know the president-elect said he was going to get 100 million doses out in 100 days but I hope he lays out an organized plan on how everyone is to get it because in our state, it's been somewhat chaotic lately.
Kamboka - I don't like reading those articles/hearing those things about COVID deaths/reactions because I'm in a no-win situation. I have had so many people around me or people I know get COVID that it's scary. On the other hand, the stories that I hear about reactions is scary too. I have a coworker who is a breast cancer survivor, is more fit than me, is not taking cancer drugs, and is refusing to get the vaccine. Even her son, who is a nurse, is telling her to get the vaccine, but she refuses. I don't know if I'm making the right decision or not. Time will tell.
