petite1: How did the mammo go?

I'll check out the video. I have to wrap up over 100 pieces to take to the auctioneer on Sunday. Ugh, I keep finding other things to do than that.

They did the ultra sound first and then mamo. The tech doing mamo was upset because the hospital never sent the old records and they will need to compare. Evidently there is something under the scar tissue. Fingers crossed on that.

petite1: Mine keep finding scar tissue. Hopefully, that is all that you have as well.

Petite1 - Hoping it's just scar tissue and that they can get answers to you quickly.

Been busy at work and at home. My coworker was out all week so I started work earlier every day since I have to do the work of 2 people. It was not a great week there. My son came home from college this weekend. We have to take him back tonight. And then I'm trying to list more on ebay for Q4 but I just can't seem to get stuff done. I only got 3 things listed so far this weekend. Hoping to get 1 more added but we will see. I box all of my items ahead of time because I need to know how much they weigh and how to ship it. Each of my items are different so there is no uniform packing/listing.

mocame: you are so organized. I'm always scrambling trying to get things out when I sell something. I only have 5-6 things listed now. I took over 100 items to the auctioneer today. it was almost a two hour ride each way but it was scenic and I enjoyed it.

I've had a busy four days as well. I started a new project on top of what i was already doing. It took more time during the day. Then my relative that came to live with me to find a job her had an emotional episode on Thursday that lasted until she let to go back to where she was living today. I found out she had not been on her meds for over five months. I got her an assessment on Thursday and she was supposed to have counseling and meds appointment this week but she gave up and decide to go back. I think she will not be happy doing that but she was not receptive to reasoning. It was stressing me as I had trouble sleeping for the last three nights. I don't want to get myself stressed. I have a coupon for a massage but don't have time during the week to go. Maybe this weekend.

mocame, You do sound organized. My packages are usually under 4 ounces, so most everything I charge $3.50 for shipping. I am thinking about raising it as the price of shipping supplies has gone up. I have a run of bad luck. I had someone leave me negative feed back, but he removed it after I gave him a refund. I had a lady give me neutral feed back because the pendant she bought was smaller than she thought it would be. Now, I have a refund on a rhinestone necklace that arrived damaged. And to top all that off, the stock market is dumping.

Kamboka, I certainly hope she gets the help she needs.

If my bed wasn't covered with little boxes to ship, I would just go back to bed.

I really hope my auctioneers come through for me. It's easier for me to prep a few boxes to ship to them than the individual ones for Ebay. I have some purses and shoes outstanding on Ebay but nothing yet. I might try some more glass items later. My new job responsibilities is taking up all my extra time during the day and I'm out estate sale-ing on the weekends.

Petite1 - That stinks that these people are leaving you bad feedback and it's not your fault and they didn't contact you first. It's funny you mentioned it, though, because I just got notified yesterday of my first return. I sold a popular 35 mm camera at a little bit of a lower price since I haven't sold one before. I explain in my listing that I only put a battery in it and tested the zoom, flash, the screen, if the modes turn on, etc. but that I haven't tested it with actual film. (I actually tested it twice) The return (from a zero feedback buyer) said she put a battery in, changed the date, and the camera died and wouldn't turn on again. She was very nice, didn't leave me negative feedback yet but started the process of sending it back, which ebay automatically approved and froze all of my funds. I have been messaging her and now she is wondering if it's the battery she used and asked what battery is supposed to be used in the camera. She still has the camera and manual to look at! I don't know if it got damaged in shipping or she used the wrong battery or what but I finally said I would rather she returned it and got another one that worked and she would be happy with. I will refund her money to her and just eat my charges when I get the camera back. If it is broken, I could probably sell it again but for parts.

Kamboka - I hope you get some success with the new auctioneer. It sounds like you have been very busy.

Sounds like all of us are having some struggles with our side businesses. With my new work project, I've definitely slowed down. My cousin that left me this weekend want to take a bunch of pictures and a lovely mirror that I have in the garage. I de-listed them and now she's gone so I need to relist. I was so happy that she wanted them and I could get rid of them.

Good morning. I am heading to the Dermatologist this morning. A lump showed up on my leg and now has become infected. I assume it is an ingrown hair or a cyst. It is on my calf and painful. My grandnephew and his wife came up for a visit. It was a pleasant day.

mocame, That is a shame about the camera, Most of the stuff I sell is low cost, so if they complain about it, I just refund and tell them to keep it or throw it away. If it is higher dollar I take it back. I am going to raise shipping costs, because my little boxes and padded envelopes have gone up.

  • mocame
    mocame Member Posts: 564

Petite1 - That sounds painful. I hope everything went well at the Dermatologist and they can take care of it. I've never been to a dermatologist but my MO wants me to go so she sent a referral to get an appointment...First available...April 19th!!! Crazy. Do you use ebay to get your shipping labels/ship through? I mostly ship via First Class or Priority and ebay gives you a discount on most shipping options (buyer pays full price). I use that to help cover the cost of my shipping supplies. I originally added a handling fee to cover my shipping but then the price would go higher than the competition, so I stopped. But I agree that the costs of supplies are increasing so I need to shop around more for them. I did buy some cardboard boxes at a decent price from Staples. Unfortunately, the quality isn't very good so I won't buy those again.

    petite1 Member Posts: 2,293

mocame, I do ship through Ebay. I buy my supplies online. The little boxes run about 33 cents and the envelopes about 24 cents. If a piece of jewelry only sells for a couple of dollars, I barely break even. When i add in ebay fees, it gets discouraging. In the old days, I use to start the auction at $.15, now $1.04. That is for a no name piece of old costume. There are sellers that start at 1 cent.

    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

I've sold some costume jewelry in a bag at one of my auctions. I don't have the inventory sell list yet and I don't remember what it went for. I have some glassware that I want to sell on Ebay. I get most of my boxes and wrapping sheets from previous shipments from the auctions and amazon. I've not had to buy anything yet.

My buyer hasn't shipped the camera back yet. Tomorrow will be a week and she has until 10/13 to ship it. Unfortunately, my funds are frozen until then. I've sold a couple of things since then but they are small and haven't covered the refund amount. I had to pay for the shipping with the new sold items with a credit card, instead of existing funds. Frustrating. I was so busy this weekend. My daughter came home for the weekend and she convinced me to go to a community yard sale. I haven't gone for 1 1/2 months so that I can focus on getting what I have listed. I made a couple of bad buys and 1 good one. Over a couple of months this summer, I had accumulated two totes full of miscellaneous toy figures and playsets. This weekend I sorted and researched every single item. Now I need to get ready to list the quick/easy sellers and then work on the others. I did list one item on Facebook Marketplace. I hope it sells but I haven't had much success there.

Good morning, ladies. ebay has been a dud this week. I think people are just doing other things and not buying. They aren't even looking at some of my stuff. I have never seen that before. My bug sting or bite is slowly getting better. It was so pleasant this morning, I went for a 2 mile walk.

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

petite1: The weather is wonderful this week--low humidity and low to mid 80s. I love it. Glad to hear your bites are getting better. I think the worst part seems to be the itching as it heals.

mocame: Hopefully, the person will send back the camera. I assume if they don't, you get to keep the money. I just relisted a bunch of purses and shoes. They've been out there for over three weeks with only 2-3 views. I lowered the prices. This weekend I went to four sales all over the place. I think I drove almost 200 miles. I ended up with some interesting things. I bought two Samoca cameras. I'd not sure how much they will bring--I need to research.

I had a work call last night at 9:00. It lasted till 10:30. I've got late calls four nights this week. Ugh, I'm not loving my new assigsnment. It's getting me out of my rhythm.

    mocame Member Posts: 564

Petite1 - I'm glad the bites are getting better.

Kamboka - Ugh! I'm not a night owl and those calls would have me up until midnight because I would need some down time between the calls and trying to sleep.

So I only do Buy It Now listings and from what I hear from other sellers, it could take months to find the right buyer for your item at the price you want. It seems that if you do Auction listings, unless it is a highly collectible item, they tend not to sell or to sell for less money. It's all about finding the right person. So far that has held true for me. I sold another camera yesterday. Now I'm praying everything goes well for this one. I also sold a Harry Potter scarf yesterday that I barely had listed 24 hours! I probably sold it too cheap but there weren't any comps for this exact one so I didn't want to put too high of a price tag on it. I hope your sales also start to pickup. Christmas is coming soon and from what I hear, there will be shortages this year so more people will be going to ebay and other places to find items.

    petite1 Member Posts: 2,293

mocame, November is usually my best month. This month has not been that great. I have some items that had not even had one view. I may have to just do some lots to get rid of some of the stuff.

Kamboka, those late night calls sound bothersome. I am glad I am retired, especially during COVID.

I still have not heard about my mamo and ultrasound results. Since it is taking so long, I guess it is safe to assume there is no a problem.

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

petite1: Your results are taking forever. I have to give Mayo credit, they are very fast with posting results.

I've started buying up more goodies since I have two auction houses that I can count on to take them. I've got stuff outstanding in four houses that I should hear back from in a few weeks. It's hard to keep up with. I'd like to list more on Ebay but with my new assignment, I don't have time. I started work at 8:30 and am still answering emails. I have a call at 9:00 that will probably go over as it did last night. It was almost 1030 before we ending. Then I couldn't sleep.

I'm also taking on my family's reunion for next July here in Jax. I need to run out tomorrow to look at some hotels. Not sure what I was thinking about when I took this on, again. We will have a lot of outdoor activities so maybe folks will be comfortable enough to participate.

Petite1 - I think no news is good news. I hope your sales pick up. Christmas season is just barely starting now.

Kamboka - I'm glad you have found places that will sell your things properly. Buying is half the fun! How many people usually come to your reunions? That's a big job.

I had sales most days in the last week but nothing for about 3 days. I was going to just work on selling what I have in my death pile and around the house, which is a lot. Then about 11:00PM Friday night, I see there was going to be 2 yard sales in a development behind my house. My husband, unfortunately for him, said that I should go to them...So I started looking at what other yard sales were happening. Needless to say, I didn't get to bed until around 12:30AM and got up (barely) at 6:00 to get ready to go yard saleing. I was gone for 3 hours! I had to drop donations off at one of our local thrift stores so of course I had to go in and check out what they had! LOL. At least I didn't run to the other 3 thrift stores that I passed while yard saleing. Haha! I got some good stuff, not big money, but decent and I said I would list those things right away. :)

mocame: LOL at your story. Sounds like my life. My mom is coming back to FL with me at Thanksgiving to spend a few weeks. I really think it's because she is missing going shopping with me. I hit five estate sales this weekend and picked up a few interesting things. I found one house with loads of Harley things. I bought three mini Harley model cycles. I think I can turn a small profit with them. I think it's the hunt that I'm loving. Just need to unload all this stuff. :)

petite1: We finally had about an hour of rain. We've not had any in over a week. I was going to have to turn on my sprinklers but this has saved me. Are you guys having problems with yard waste pick up? I've had some palm leaves outside for four weeks. The Mayor said there is not enough workers so they are suspending recycling to try to catch up on yard waste. Apparently, there have been over 40K complaints. I'm hiring a lady to come do some weeding, plant flowers and replace mulch. I can't wait. My little gardens are pitful.

mocame, That sounds like some pretty good finds. I went to an estate sale at a place called Estate Liquidators. It is in Ocklawaha, which where Ma Barker had a shoot out with the FBI, The estate sale wasn't much for me, but my friend picked up some vintage silver serving pieces. We did have a lot of fun exploring the town and eating at Gator Joe's on Lake Weir, established 1929. It was a great trip, even if I didn't buy anything.

Kamboka, We haven't had any rain. It has rained in the area, but not at my house. My yard is getting crunchy. Still no results on my mamo and my infect bug bite has not gone away. I think it is a cyst and not a bug bite. I go back on Thursday.

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

petite1: what are you using on the 'bug bite'? Hopefully, it's not getting infected. I would think that if your mammogram was not good, they would have contacted you already so we'll think positive thoughts.

  • mocame
    mocame Member Posts: 564

Petite1 - Hoping that your bug bite or whatever it is gets better soon. Also, I hope you get some rain soon too. Crunchy grass is not good.

Kamboka - I hear that anything Harley related sells very well! I hear people saying that they're either having a ton of sales or this is the worst they've ever experienced. I haven't sold anything in 5 days and I've listed a bunch. Usually I sell in a week as many items as I list. I'm leaving early Friday morning for a weekend beach trip with friends so I have put my business on Time Away starting Thursday and ending on Sunday. We get home on Monday so that will give me time to unpack and mail anything that might sell while I'm gone.

  • petite1
    petite1 Member Posts: 2,293

mocame, The bite or whatever it is did get infected. I am on Doxycycline, which is tearing up my gut and topic Mupirocin ointment. The infection is starting to look better. I still think it is a cyst and it needs to come out.

Kamboka, My mamo results came in and No Cancer. Yeah

I had to raise my shipping charge, due to the major increase in postage. Somehow, I didn't see that coming. After Christmas, I am going to downsize my ebay listings. I have had a good 11 year run.

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

    petite1: Wow, 11 years. That's great.

I finally was able to sell my dresser mirror on FB. The people came this morning to pick it up. I let it go for nothing since I've been trying to sell for almost 8 months. It was beautiful, I just didn't have a place to hang it. I've prepped a box of coins to go to auction but not sure who I'll sent it to. I've got two outstanding auctions to be done soon and I wanted to see who got the best prices.

mocame: Enjoy your beach trip. I've only done the beach once this year and I only live 7 miles from it. I'm going to visit my sister in south FL on Friday and come back Sunday. I think she said we'd go to the flea market and I'll look to see if there is a good estate sale to hit as well. She doesn't like to shop but she'll go with me.

  • mocame
    mocame Member Posts: 564

    Petite1 - Yay! Great news!

Kamboka - Have a great weekend with your sister. I hope you find some great shopping, too!

A couple months ago, I bought a lot of toys and action figures at a yard sale for $3.00. I'm starting to list them in different lots/individual listings. Well, I had a lot of 3 action figures that sold for $70.00! Yay! I need to list the rest of them. The person that wanted to return my one camera finally shipped it back. She had until 10/13 to send it. It will be interesting to see if it actually does work or not since she seemed to suggest that she had the wrong battery. If it doesn't work, I can just sell it for parts.

  • petite1
    petite1 Member Posts: 2,293

My ultrasound results came in and I have a Seroma under the scar. I hope it goes away on it's own. I go to the Dermatologist in the morning. I doubt she will do an excision this soon.

mocame, that is great on the toys. Your camera story is similar to a vintage watch story I had. It was an old mechanical watch and someone bought it and complained because they couldn't put a battery in it. LOL

Kamboka, Have fun with your sister.

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

mocame: congrats on your action figures. I just bought about 40 beanie babies cheap. I'll need to research and see which ones can be resold. The others I'll give to my sister in law, the teacher. She gives stuffed animals to her kids as rewards. I found about 20 small stuffed animals made in India a few months ago. Her kids loved them as many of them have parents from India. I was happy as I got them for $10 at an estate sale. The were so well made. I now have four vintage cameras that I will send to auction. I sent one auction house 30 German coins and they sold for $60. I'm happy.

petite1: Maybe the fluid is disappearing and you won't have to get the excision. Tomorrow, I go back to Mayo for lab work. I'm always good in that department so hope they extend the time between tests soon. It seems a waste of money.
