My appointment with the Dermatologist was disappointing. The thing on my leg, she is now calling a pus pocket, has not healed. She put me on a different round of antibiotics.

petite1: too bad it wasn't an easy fix. How long will you have to take the antibiotics?

I had my bags packed and in the car at noon today when it started raining like crazy. I cancelled my trip to my sisters as they were forecast to have almost 70% chance of rain on Saturday. I'll go next Friday and hope the weather cooperates. I have a 3 day weekend so am very happy to have to extra time to do some other things. My new coin auctioneer said the next one will be January. I will wait as I think I can get more money in their auction. I'll find another one or two auction houses for my other things before Thanksgiving. I think people won't buy as much in December so I'll take a break until January.

I sold two purses today on Ebay and two beanie babies on FB yesterday. The prices were so low it's more hassle than it's worth getting them wrapped and to the USPS. At least I'm making space for more things. I have my coin club tonight but will probably not go. I can run around all day long but when the sun sets, I don't want to go back out.

Petite1 - I hope the new antibiotics work and it can finally heal.

Kamboka - You must have more luck at FB than me. I can't seem to sell anything on there.

I got back from our long weekend trip yesterday. The weather was better than predicted but very windy. It was rainy and windy when we left which makes leaving easier. LOL.

My ebay sales and views tanked while I had everything on Time Away. I did list one thing last night but the things I had ready to list aren't very good movers and don't normally bring a lot of money. Why is it that when I'm about to buy an item, I look at the completed sales and think they are selling well but when I go to actually list it, it's not a good a item? {Sigh} I need to source better.

My leg is slowly healing. My ebay sales have been low on most, but some went higher than I expected. November is usually the best month for me, but my inventory is low. I may have to dig in my personal jewelry box to supplement it.

I do seem to do better with FB than Ebay but I list more there than on Ebay.

mocame: Maybe if you are only going away for a weekend, you wouldn't put on your 'away' sign. I sold something Saturday but they know it can't be shipped until the USPS opens on Tuesday.

petite1: Glad to hear that your leg is healing. Sometimes it takes a long time. I dug into my jewelry box last night trying to get some goodies to make my pitch for this auction house in South Florida to take my items. They are very picky about 'quality' goods. Of course, I think my things are quality but they have a different baraometer.

Kamboka, Good luck with that auction house. I plan on doing some junking on Friday. My leg is much better.

I found one that will only take my paperweights and jewelry. Very few want to take nice glassware. I have some wonderful Wedgwood, Fenton, Bavarian, etc. but it's not selling well. I packed up about 40 items to take. I reached out to anohter house and he has not come back to me yet if he will accept. If he does, I'll have to pack up them tomorrow as I plan to leave about 1000 on Friday.

Petite1 - I'm glad your leg is getting better.

Kamboka - Hopefully the auction house will take them. That's frustrating.

I finally sold one item since coming back on "Time Away" on Sunday. Phew! I was starting to get concerned. It was an item that I listed the end of July. I need to be more patient and give my listings time to sell. That's why I only do Buy It Now instead of auctions. I can't reach the people that would want it in just a week's time.

I will try to list some things with the Buy Now after I try my go to auction house for the rest of my things. I might have a garage sale in December when my mom is here to help me. She loves garage sales.

I'm heading to my sister's tomorrow and will come back on Sunday. I found two estate sales in Melbourne that I will stop at on my way back. :)

Kamboka - I hear online about how great estate sales are. People seem to get great things cheap.

    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

I stopped at two really nice houses near the beach in Melbourne. The first house was really fine antiques but the prices were too high, even with 50%. The second house was at 75% discount. I didn't realize that till I was paying so I didn't get as much as I would have knowing that. I spent $24 but got two nice sweaters for my mom, vintage teddy bear, sun glasses, wine holder and a 4 inch jade? Chinese sculpture. I came home and had six boxes waiting for me from stuff I have ordered previously. My auction on Saturday was awful. I wrote the auctioneer and told him that he is not managing his lots well. He doesn't take but one photo so people can't see what is in these large lots. Also, he needs to break up the lots into smaller ones and he'd make more money. I was very disappointed so will not be using him again.

Kamboka - I'm sorry the auction didn't go well for you. Has he sold things like that before? Is there any other type of places to sell them?

Since I was off, the traffic on my items dropped so much. Both of my kids were home from college this weekend and it was great getting to spend time with them but they were both helpful in getting other things done so I could list. I got 6 things listed and packed up to ship over the weekend and sold 2 items yesterday! Yay! Not a lot of $ but I'll take it and it should drive more traffic to my things. I'm starting to see part of my dining room table now! LOL!

I'm so busy at work and home but I really enjoy selling on ebay.

Kamboka. Sounds like that auction house is looking for a quick buck and not a smart buck.

mocame, The changes with ebay are stressing me out. I didn't list everything I was going to. I got grumpy and had to just walk away. I may list the rest tonight.

My leg is doing somewhat better. When I was working and if I had a wound like this in my building, I would be all over my DON. LOL I still blame the Dermatologist. I think it was the tape she put on it. I still have not been able to remove all of it.

I realized today that I had about 100 beanie babies. Why I don't know. I'll try to sell a few good ones and give half to my sister in law, the teacher. The others, I decided to give away on Halloween with my candy bags. My exercise (warehouse) room is getting full again. I emailed my auctioneer in Tallahassee and told him to stop by when he's next in Jax. I think if I hadn't started on this other project at work, I'd have more time to do FB or Ebay. I'm hoping to get off the project in mid December but we'll see. My mom is coming here after Thanksgiving and I plan to have a garage sale.

Petite1 - I'm glad your wound is healing but pray it will heal quicker. What changes in ebay is stressing you out? Is it the that they are requiring more information? I've heard about that but I haven't been required to add more information...yet. Maybe it depends on the category?

Kamboka - It's nice that you can have garage sales all year long. Our yard sales are pretty much done now until spring.

Kamboka, That is a good idea with the Beanie Babies. Sometime we have a few kids, but most of the time we don't. This year there are many more kids in the neighborhood. There used to be an organized Trick or treating group and a map of houses that are giving out treat. I have never signed up. The door bell ringing freaks out the cats. Last year, after we turned out the light around 9:30 pm, a bunch of teenagers stood outside screaming "Shame on you. We know you are in there." I think they had been watching too many news channels.

mocame, Since I sell jewelry they are a zillion item specifics they want me to add. They changed the categories and have fine jewelry specifics in with costume. It is stupid.

I had a call from one of the estate sale people I frequently deal with to check out pre-sale items. There was over 50 designer purses, still in the dust bags and most look like they have never been used. I bought the whole lot, plus the jewelry and a bunch of Russian painted boxes. I dug around in that house for hours. LOL I have Christmas gifts for all the women on my list and still have tons to put on ebay.

I am heading back to the Dermatologist, today.

petite1: That's exciting that you got that large lot of designer purses. I had a few from estate sales. My auctioneer will only take Vuitton, Coach, and that caliber. So, now I'm collecting vintage mesh purses. They do fairly well at auction. I have five sales this weekend. Can't wait.

I finally called Mayo and wanted to get a neuro and uro appointments. They act like an HMO and I have to see the primary first. They keep giving me residents for primary and it changes every year. I'm losing my second doc in December and I've only been here 15 months. I'm in for two weeks from now so that's good. I'm trying to get my appointments in before the deductable starts again. Also, one of my crowns is loose and the dentist says I need a graph to keep the implant in. More money!

I was trying to send you pictures of my yard before and after the yard lady came today. For some reason, this site says that the picture is not allowed. I changed the name from before and after but it still will not let me upload the files named "yard". I don't know what that is about. Anyways, it looks so much better.

    mocame Member Posts: 564

Petite1 - That's great that you got all of those purses. I'm weird that I'm not into purses. I buy one from Kohls, use only that purse until it is very worn and falling apart and repeat. So, I can't tell the real deal from the fakes.

Kamboka - I'm trying to get my son in to get his wisdom teeth out this year yet and can't. They are so booked far in advance that I could barely get his consultation in before the end of the year. My insurance through work is very expensive but it's also very good. They are changing to a cheaper policy starting 1/1/22 but thankfully most of my doctors are still in-network. My boss did tell me that next year they will totally be shopping the insurance for 2023 and that scares me. I have Obamacare PTSD. LOL.

My ebay sales have not been good this week, despite listing a lot more. That's so frustrating. I even put Best Offer on most of the listings to try and get stuff going but nothing is happening. I did sell one of my son's video games within 20 minutes of my listing it. I guess I sold it too cheap.

mocame: Insurance, whether medical or dental, is way too expensive. It's sad how overpriced and underwhelming healthcare is today. Many times in my past I've seen doctors overseas. they take longer time to talk to you, examine, and charge so much less. As a nurse, I'm ashamed sometimes of our services. At least you can get the consult taken care of. I was able to get in to the periodontist but don't know how much will be covered by my insurance. I might list some more things on Ebay but I'm trying to sort in three boxes: auctioneer pick up, yardsale, Ebay/FB.

I sold one thing over the weekend and listed 6 things. Traffic picked up yesterday on my items so I hope more sales come in. I am selling some of my kids' video games and have more to do. They usually sell pretty well but we will see. I am so behind on everything and I can't even think about Christmas yet.

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

mocame: Do you usually list more things around Christmas time or do sales slow down? I was thinking of skipping December for my auctions and picking back up in January. I'm collecting things for my yard sale as well. It will be in December. My job just switched me from southeast Asia to southern Africa. So instead of doing calls at 9pm, I'll switch to 6 -7am. I'd rather do the early hours so I don't start going to bed so late.

Kamboka - This is my first Christmas season so I'm not sure. I would think it would be busy through to the middle of December? Just sold something else yesterday, which is great because I have over 50 things listed and need to get them out of here. I'm already stressing over Christmas because I host my family a few days before Christmas and the day before we travel to my husband's family and maybe also host them on Christmas Eve too. I have yet to figure out table favors, family gifts, and just gifts in general. I'm so busy at work too. Kamboka, I would rather do the 6-7AM calls too. I'm not an evening person. Then you would have that already done and can move on with your day. Will changing locations, change the amount of work you have to do?

November is my best ebay month. These purses are from QVC or something like that. I have sold 2 that have been paid for and sold 2 to a "No Pay". Jewelry sales have been down. I have some Russian painted boxes that did well. I think there are 3 more of them to list. I am glad I am over 65. The years between 62 to 65, insurance was VERY costly. I didn't qualify for "market place".

It's been raining all day. So dreary but tomorrow should be back to normal. It was good to water my new flowers so I can't complain too much.

I bought three Chinese wooden type plates and a vintage telephone. One shipper sent me a quote for $245. They are crazy. I was expecting $30 - 50. The phone only cost $6. I've reached out to another shipper but they haven't come back to me. The total order was about $50. I might tell them just to keep them. It would be cheaper for me to buy a plane ticket and go pick it up personally. That's the problem with auctions. Some houses are very reasonable with their shipping and others are out of this world. I keep trying to make notations so I don't use those high ones again but sometimes I forget.

Kamboka, We had a lot of rain and today it is windy. The coast flooded. The purses are slowly selling. I have put a bunch away for Christmas gifts. So far, I have only kept one, but there is another one should it not sell, it will be mine. The shipping on some of these is over $20. I could not carry a purse that big and heavy.

petite1: It was cool today and not as sunny as it was supposed to be. Tomorrow should be sunny. My house doesn't get a lot of direct sun so it stays fairly cool in the summer but the winter, it can get chilly.

I have lots of heavy glass that I'd like to sell but the postage is crazy. I'm going to try my regular auction guy for somethings and one different house for some of the glassware. then I might list on Ebay or Facebook or sell in my garage sale. The problem is that most folks don't want to pay much in garage sales.

Kamboka, I use to sell some glass and ceramics, but so often they broke. I gave it up. I am back to my regular jewelry today and a few Russian painted boxes. I sold 2 last week and they did well. I hope these do, too. It is chilly this morning.
