Kamboka - I love your flowers! So pretty! Doesn't your part of Florida get oppressively hot in the summer? I've only stayed in the middle or just south of the middle parts of Florida and it's always been so hot. Usually our hottest days are in the middle of July but not this year!

Petite1 - I'm always afraid of getting a bad buyer but I've been fortunate so far. I did have 1 sale this weekend. Yay! I listed a few more things this weekend.

Kamboka, It is beautiful. LOL. I could say something about politics, but won't. I prefer not knowing.

My husband bent down to turn off the remote and passed out. I was already asleep. About 1:00 I got up looking for him and found him in the floor. He was some what confused and could not get up. I called 911. They got him up and into the bed. He would not go to the hospital. I am barely functioning, but 16 things to ship. Husband has an appointment Tuesday.

Fred is just about even with me, but out in the Gulf. It is dark and gloomy. (fits my attitude) The rain is suppose to start around 11.

petite1: Yikes, that is scary waking up to find your husband that way. Glad he felt better and can get to the doctor tomorrow. Wow, you are really selling if you have 16 items to ship. I had bought a pretty Lladro geisha lady and it arrived with the flower broken off. The seller is accepting it back but I'm disappointed. I got it at a great price and was so happy. It's been raining off and on here and I think tomorrow will be the same. After that only a 30% chance of rain. I do not like dark and gloomy. I bought a light that I'm supposed to use everyday for one hour to combat winter gloom.

mocame: I would say that it's not as hot here in the summer as in some other places. I can't remember when we got above 94/95. It's humid but many times there is a breeze. I'm about 7 miles from the beach so the closer you go there, the cooler it is.

I found another auction house near Ft. Lauderdale to take some of my pictures. I'll send them with my sister who is coming through on Sunday. I think my auctioneer in Tallahassee doesn't do too many pictures so I'm happy to get them to someone else.

I think I forgot to send my other hibiscus photo.

Kamboka - Wow! So pretty! You must have a green thumb. I do not and my flower beds consist mostly of weeds and grass. After weeding them a couple of times this year and the weeds were back in a couple of days, I gave up. I don't have time to weed whole flower beds and around the house every week.

Petite1 - How scary! I hope he can get some answers soon! I sold 1 thing yesterday and I was excited to sell 2 things on back-to-back days. You must have great sales. I only have 24 things listed now so I don't have big volumes of items. I want to increase that but need time to take pictures and list. Hopefully after this week which has already been so crazy busy.

We are supposed to get Fred tomorrow, I think, and we are supposed to get a lot of rain. I hope they are wrong.

Kamboka, another beautiful flower. Sometimes I see an auction house near the Villages advertised. If I learn anything about it, I will let you know.

mocame, I relisted about 18 items that didn't sell. Maybe this time around.

Husband had 9 tubes of blood drawn. The girl said it was the most she ever drew on one patient. I guess they are testing him for everything. He should know more in the next couple of days.

mocame: you should see the weeds in my flower garden that didn't produce many flowers. I keep threatening to call a gardener person but every time I think of it, I have another bill to pay. I just got my property tax bill and it had gone from 3200 to 4400 and Mayo keeps putting that one night at the hospital back on my bill.

petite1: I'll keep my fingers crossed that both of you can get some good sales. I'm working on another coin auction and I told the fellow in Tallahassee to come back to Jax and get some more goodies.

We had some sun today with only a few sprinkles. Maybe the front has passed over.

Good morning, ladies. I don't feel right this morning. I think it is post reaction from the drama from finding poor husband on the floor. He has little memory of it. He knows 2 women got him off the floor, but that is about it. He wants to send them a Thank you note. I have 3 things to ship. After that I might just read a book.

petite1: Are you feeling better? Sounds like PTSD. Stress is so tricky. Are you close to the mail center? I have to go about 7 miles in any direction to get to the post office.

Petite1 - I hope you can get some rest and feel better soon. That is a lot of blood that they drew! They can barely get 4 out of me, but 9?!

Kamboka - That is a big increase in taxes! The only time we've had such a big increase was when 1 couple in our county complained and went to court that their property wasn't assessed correctly (it would've lowered their taxes). The whole county then got reassessed and our taxes jumped about $1,100. We pay about the same amount as a new house in a development. Our house is small, needs updated, and built in the 1920s. But we have about 1 acre in land.

Kamboka, I am better and so is he. We even went out and had a blackened fish dinner. Then came home and went for a swim. I am also about 7 miles to the post office. That is a big increase in taxes. After we replaced the roof, the tax collectors office sent someone out to take pictures of the house. I figure it will go up as well.

mocame, I think the most I have had was 3 tubes.

My home insurance went up after my new roof but I forgot to pay them so had to switch to another company and the price went down. I guess it was a blessing in disguise.

My brother, SIL and I have been vaccine hesitant. They finally got the shot a week ago. Today, he called and said he was sick and went to the test. They couldn't find a quick test so has to wait another day or two for the results. I broke down and got the one dose on Monday because my job was 'mandating' it. So far, no problems. I never worried about the short term problems but the long term ones that we don't know about yet. Go figure, me being a nurse would be hesitant. :)

Next Tuesday I go for my mammogram and to meet my new MO. I don't miss my inner city hospital in DC but I do miss my MO from DC.

    Petite1 - I'm glad you're feeling better.

Kamboka - I hope your mammogram goes well and you like your new MO. It's so important to have a team of good doctors to help you.

I probably won't be back on here for at least 2 days. I'm moving my son into college on Saturday morning and their move-in process is a whole day. Then my daughter moves back into her apartment at college on Sunday. Tears will be shed and then I come home to a quiet house and a dog that will miss them terribly. They entertained him so much that I know that will be the biggest adjustment with both kids gone and he will want me to play and take him outside for walks constantly. :)

Kamboka, I did the one shot. I did it because it is more like a usual vaccine and not messing with RNA. So far no booster is needed for J&J.

    mocame, sounds like empty nester.

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

petite1: I did the one shot just for that reason too.

My brother texted me and said his test was positive. He had the Moderna 10 days before this. I honestly have so many questions about these vaccines but what to do. He had a temp all day but the fever went away and he's just tired.

mocame: In a year, you'll be saying how much you enjoy having a quiet house where you can do whatever you want and have more time for yourself. :) I hope the family enjoys the trip to university and getting all settled in. That's always a fun time for new students.

I'm back! Move in went great. They had it down to a well oiled machine. He does not have a roommate which he is happy about but most of the guys on his floor are part of the baseball team and have already formed a group. They were more of a loud and rowdy bunch on the first day and that's not my son. He is an introvert who has a hard time making friends. Hurricane Henri caused them to cancel all but one of the freshman social events yesterday. As a mom, I worry but I'm doing a lot of praying for him. My daughter left yesterday for her senior year of college. My husband and I went to lunch with friends within minutes of her leaving so we have started the empty nest fun. The one that I'm worried about the most?...The dog. He will miss running around and playing with the kids.

mocame, The poor dog will need extra petting. I remember the picture when you got him. Cute.

Today is 2 years since BC surgery. It is a busy week with appointments for husband, cat, and me.

    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

mocame: glad you enjoyed your first empty nest outing. There will be more wonderful times to be alone or just with hubby. I'm sure your introvert will adjust. I'm an introvert and have learned how to be social when I have to be.

petite1: good luck with all the appointments. Mine is tomorrow and I'll let you know how it goes.

Petite1 - I hope all of the appointments go well this week. I had my BS appointment a couple of weeks ago and my MO appointment with Prolia injection is in another 2 weeks. I hope your husband gets some answers as to what is going on with him.

Kamboka - I hope your appointment goes well too and you like your new doctor.

My coworker who is stage 4 has been eating a strictly plant based diet with salmon and eggs twice a week. She lost a lot of weight eating this way and found out the end of last week that her cancer markers have dropped to about 2/3 of what it was this summer! Incredible. I've been slowly building myself to that point but I can only do it gradually or I will never stick to it. Her and I have been both been doing the Square One modules that are free right now from Chris Walk who is the author of Chris Beat Cancer. It's actually made me stop, think more than I was about what I eat, and changing some things at least. Will I be able to go completely plant based? I don't know but I'm at least eating more of the anti-cancer/anti-disease foods. I also got a couple of Dr. Fuhrman's cookbooks to see if I can find some meals that both my husband and I can eat. I'm not very imaginative/creative when it comes to putting foods together and need a recipe to follow. LOL.

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

mocame: I bought that book about Chris but not sure if I even read it. It was during my treatment in 2019 so I probably didn't. Today at my mammogram, I had to go back three different times for them to take different angles. They said I still have the spot that I had six months ago but it hasn't grown, so that is good news. I have my full mammogram and bone density in February. I realize that I still have the same MO but they had me seeing a NP today. She was actually very nice and we had a good chat.

  • mocame
    mocame Member Posts: 564

Kamboka - I'm glad that spot hasn't grown. My MO also has an NP now. I really like her too. It seems like she is the one who actually talks to you about what is going on and any problems and then reports that information to the MO before they see you. I think it keeps the amount of time that the MO sees you down so that they can see more people. It doesn't bother me as long as I feel I have enough time to go over everything.

    petite1 Member Posts: 2,293

mocame, My follow up appointment went well. Labs are normal. Mamo is to be scheduled. The appointment with husband's kidney doctor went better than expected. She is referring him to a pulmonologist. He is not feeling well this morning and just went back to bed.

Kamboka, I like my MO's NP. She is very nice and knowledgeable.

petite1: Glad you made it through the maze of all those appointments this week. Hope you all don't get hit by any bad weather with Ida coming close by.

Petite1 - I'm glad the appointments went well.

The end of last week didn't go as I expected it would. As a suggestion from my PCP, I got the Shingles vaccine on Wednesday. Wednesday night I didn't sleep well. I kept waking up at least 1 or 2 times an hour and it was painful to sleep on the side where I got the shot. My favorite side to sleep. Thursday morning I woke up so tired. I could barely keep my eyes open and go through the motions of exercising. I went to work but by 9:00 all I wanted to do was go to bed. I stuck it out to lunch time because I had things that needed to be done that day. I had a headache, achey, chills and by the time I left, a slight fever. Went home and right to bed for 4 hours. It wasn't until the evening that my fever went away and I started feeling a little better. Went back to work the next day but I was tired. My arm still hurt yesterday morning. Crazy. Why don't they tell you about these side effects. I would've scheduled it on a Friday. After talking to other people, they say the 2nd shot is worse. Great.

I hope you two stay safe from Ida. Even though we are far away from the hurricane right now, they are predicting that Wednesday into Thursday we could get 3 to 8 inches of rain. Ugh! This will test our new waterproofing in the basement. The last hurricane that dumped rain on us, we had 3 feet of water in our basement.

I sold a couple of things last week but nothing since then. I did list a number of more items this weekend so hopefully I will have more sales this week.

    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

mocame: Sorry to hear about those side effects. I didn't know people had them either. I guess if it's a certain type of vaccine, it can give you issues just like the disease. I've had shingles twice and it's no fun but I keep refusing to take the vaccine. I keep thinking I won't get it again. The last time was a horrific three months.

It's been sunny here today. I think we are supposed to have a little rain tomorrow but Thursday through the weekend are supposed to be sunny. My brother and SIL are coming on Friday. They have recuperated from COVID and are busy checking in on family who are in LA going through Ida. It's always something. I hope that your pumping system will hold up.

I had send 12 pictures to an auctioneer in south FL. He told my sister that they were not high dollar enough for him to try to sell them. Now, I have to go get them so my other auctioneer might take them. I think I'll start trying to get rid of some things on Facebook and Ebay. I'll wait until after the holidays. I have three auctions coming up over the weekend. I hope they do better than the other ones I've been involved in. I have some really nice items and in other auctions they sell really well but not so far in the ones I've had.

    mocame Member Posts: 564

Kamboka- I'm glad you are far enough away from Ida. I can't imagine what the people in LA are going through. I hope you can sell your pictures. I hear some people do fairly well on FB marketplace. I didn't but then I didn't ship through them either.

    • I sold 2 items on ebay today, including my most expensive item. I was so excited until I noticed that both buyers have 0 feedback and 1 just signed up today for the account. I did Google each buyer and they might be legit but I'm going to wait to send it out until both payment gets approved. Usually I ship out right away. Also, I sent a package to a buyer! and Saturday after it was Out For Delivery, it was back at the post office and marked Held At Post Office. The person lives in an apartment so I'm hoping they just weren't home and will go and pick it up. Unfortunately I checked her feedback and there were at least a couple where she left positive feedback but she said she decided she didn't want the item. So now I need to figure out what to do next.

mocame, I am sorry to hear about your vaccine reaction. I had shingles twice and did get the vaccine. No problem with the vaccine. Shingles are terrible. I have had several people with 0 feedback that turned out to be good. Everyone on ebay started sometime with 0. I do have one that is a no pay for a week. That one has all positive feedback, but 2 of the positive has just - in the comment section. I think that may mean a no pay.

Kamboka, It seems you are auctioning all over the state. There is a big antique thing at in Webster on Labor Day. Webster Flea Market Swamp-O-Rama 516 NW 3rd St, Webster, Fl. It runs from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm. It is off of 301. Sometimes I get some good finds and sometimes a dud. They do the big antique thing on Holiday Mondays. Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc.

I got a surprise call from my auctioneer in Tallahassee. He was sending a fellow to Jax to look at someone else stuff and he could stop by my place. The problem was that he wasn't the boss so he didn't take all the stuff that the boss would have taken. I only got rid of about 1/4 of my things. He wouldn't even look at the pictures. I will try to sell some of the things on Ebay or FB that I can ship easily. Then I'll contact a local auctioneer who might be interested in the rest. He doesn't get much for the things but it's better than nothing. The auction houses that sell stuff I have seem to do okay but they are not local. My goodies are too good for a yard sale.

petite1: I once send an item before I realized that they were scammers. I immediately asked the USPS to recall the package and luckily they did. I've had good luck so far with Poshmark and Ebay so far.

It was just weird that within an hour or two I got 2 zero feedback buyer's. I sent their items out today because with the forecasted rain and flooding I wanted to make sure I was able to get to a post office. Also they finally delivered my other package that was sitting at the buyer's post office.

We are supposed to get anywhere from 3 to 6 inches of rain but they said we could get up to 11 inches!! The local weather guys are saying 8 to 11. Ugh. I just hope I can get home from work tomorrow. In hurricane Lee, we had problems getting around because every small and large bridge was washed out or damaged. Hoping they are wrong but we are preparing for it to be bad. Even lowered the water in our pool about 6 inches. LOL.

Petite1 - Good to know not all 0s are scammers. You're right that we all were 0 feedback buyer's at one point.

Kamboka- I hope you can find a place that will sell your items for good money. The thing I like about eBay is being able to reach so many more people that may want my items.
