    petite1: How is your husband?

mocame: Did the best man have any vaccines prior to getting COVID? I'm hearing that some of the adverse effects are blood clots. It's almost you are 'damned if you do and damned if you don't" get the shot.

You are lucky to have the PO close to your work. I looked quickly at Nurse Flipper's you tube. She was at a flea market. When I have more time, I'll watch some of them. My mom was amazed at a 8 piece Russian lacquer set that I won at auction for $15. She is 'buying' it from me to give to my sister for one of her Thrifty Gifty Green Christmas gifts.

mocame, I remember you mentioning "Nurse Flipper" before and I have checked out the youtube video. I was out yesterday and found the thrift shops have raised some of their prices. I did pick up a couple things, but not that great a buy.

Mom and I hit 6 estate sales and 2 garage sales today. We put 90 miles on the car. It was a fun day. At one sale, I noted this china that had my middle name in it. It was marked $48 for the set. It's a 12 piece setting with plates, salad plates, small plates, coffee cup and plate, gravy, sugar and creamer with two serving plates. It was 50% off day. So the lady, said she'd let me have it for $20 instead of $24. then I noted two other stacks of salad plates that didn't go with this, that were pretty. Well, she threw those in too. So I got all this beautiful stuff for $20.

    Kamboka, Nice

Kamboka - Nice! I love when that happens! I don't think our friend was vaccinated but I don't know for sure. His wife got it bad too but she (and some of her family) aren't vaccinated because they have an inherited blood disorder that runs in their family. The last we heard about her is that they were concerned she had a blood clot too and was going to get it checked out this week.

Petite1 - How is your husband feeling?

I haven't sold much in the past week but I've only listed 1 thing too. It's too busy with the holidays, work, and now my daughter is home and my son comes home tomorrow.

mocame, My husband is better. I think it was just a cold. My BFF's husband had it also and is now better. Ebay sales have been slow.

petite1: Glad your husband is feeling better. Weird how we all get excited over the sniffles in this day and time. My brother came down yesterday and we are all going to St. Augustine for the day and then to my sisters on Friday. It was a crazy busy week for me but I have off tomorrow and Friday. I'm not taking any other days off during the holidays.

I think sales might pick up again in January. This inflation is crazy though. I went to the grocery store the other day and was amazed at the cost of some things.

Petite1 - I'm so glad he is feeling better. I agree with Kamboka that it's crazy the way we react to just sniffles but our friend had just the sniffles and it was COVID...so crazy.

Kamboka - I'm glad you are getting to spend time with your family. It is a busy time right now. All of my family gatherings are this weekend. I was supposed to host one of them but they changed locations due to COVID. My house is smaller and less open than others. I hope you're right about sales picking up in January. I need things to go so I can make room for other stuff. I took some best offers or I counteroffered on others to try and get rid of some things.

Good morning. I have finished shopping and everything is wrapped. My wonderful lady that helps me will be here this weekend to help me clean the house. My brother is coming Christmas Eve and then we are heading down south to be with the niece, nephew and the grown grand niece and nephew. My husband is grumpy. It is hard for him to do much travel anymore. Last year was wonderful, they came to us. It was nice, not stressful and I felt loved. I have a feeling the trip will be not so pleasant. My husband wants to dump the gifts and run. I am sort of in agreement. To many people in a small space and 2 big dogs. It is better when we celebrate it at the grand nephew's house. It is more spacious and only 1 tiny dog.

petite1: I agree with your husband that I'm not so comfortable in other's houses especially if it's a small space. I guess all these years of living alone, I've gotten use to my own bed and bathroom and don't like sharing. I think my mom and I will have to sleep together tomorrow at my sister's. She only has three bedrooms. I feel bad for my mom as I get up every 2 hours to go to the bathroom and she is a light sleeper. I might see if I can have the couch and use the other bathroom. My brother will be in the other bedroom.

I contacted my auction man again since he was supposed to come in October to pick up more things. He did not answer me. I really hope he can come in January to take some things. My work load might be lightening in January as they hired someone to help me. If that is the case, I might have more time to do Ebay.

mocame: I think my house is larger than my sister and brothers and I'm centrally located so I'm the go to spot. They all know that I'm not much of a cook so the brother-in-law loves to cook and he does most of it. My brother is the grill master and my sister-in-law is from New Orleans and a good cook. We will have our Christmas meal on Friday. BIL says it's surf and turf. I'm bringing key lime pie from my favorite pie shop.

Petite1 and Kamboka - I agree. I don't like being with a lot of people in a smaller house right now. My husband's side of the family gets together on Sunday and they aren't changing anything but they also have the biggest and most open house. The kids will be in 1 or 2 areas of the house while the adults will be in 3 rooms that are completely open to each other so it should be better.

Kamboka, Back in the old days, my childhood, the aunts, uncles and cousins would come down to Florida and we would all pile in my parents house. Somehow it worked and was a lot of fun. Their house was under 1500 sq. ft., but it was an open floor plan Midcentury house. My mom loved entertaining and cooking for a crowd. Many of her wonderful recipes died when she died. My brother wants me to try to make mom's walnut cake. Since I didn't care it, but loved the icing, maybe mine will even be better. LOL

mocame, I had a long message typed and it suddenly disappeared. Anyway, it is the big dogs that bother me the most.

petite1: We did the same thing at my grandmothers house back in the day. It was a four room house, less than 1000 sf and each room except kitchen/dining had a bed in it. So we would have company and people would set on the beds like they were chairs. She would cook and it would so so far. She had wonderful desserts. Since they were on a farm, most of our food was 'organic'. I go miss the good ole days!

Mom and I will leave for TN on Tuesday. We will drive halfway and stop again in Biloxi. The weather is going to be really good for TN the week of Christmas 50s/60s in the day.

You both have wonderful family memories! My mom's parents lived in a trailer but there was only about 9 of us so it worked. My dad's side of the family would take turns hosting until they got too big and then we would gather in a church basement or fire hall. There is over 150 of us now and I don't even go anymore because it usually lands on a weekend that we are away and I only know a fraction of them now.

I got 2 of my family gatherings done now. Yay. Hoping the rest of the week and holiday is calm. Sold 2 things last night which is great because i have SO MUCH to list. My death pile is growing but it's hard to resist buying when items are free or costs next to nothing. My daughter says she is definitely moving out after her college graduation in May. I already am designing my ebay office in her room. :)

Kamboka, I bought all my fruits and veggies from the veggie stand. Most is Florida grown. This year I am not doing anything canned. It will be a FLO grown old fashion dinner. Just outside of Jax, you have some farms up there. Just in case you want Fresh. I won some stuff on Dudley's auction. I will pick it up this afternoon.

mocame, Hope your busy week goes well. Husband and I share a room for the home office. I usually end up in the family room because he violates the smoking policy. I don't want my ebay stuff to stink. Makes me grumpy.

mocame: I'm being moved from my time-consuming project in January so will have more time to try Ebay, again. My 'warehouse' is so over crowded. I can hardly walk in it.

Our reunions are productions. It's usually three days in different cities in the USA. We have a huge banquet with entertainment. One year I had a hypnotist and another time we rode on the Lowe's speedway course. It's fun but a lot of work. This year will be a simplified one so we can do our 41st year. This year was a virtual call. I'm thinking it might be between 100 - 150 folks show up.

petite1: I forgot to check out Dudley's auction. I'll see if it's on Liveauctions. Although, I keep saying that I need to stop the auction buying and just stick to estate sales. At least I don't have to pay S&H. That is what is costing me so much. Some houses are reasonable and others are outrageous.

Kamboka, I got some nice Victorian gold filled pieces, some Bakelite and Celluloid bracelets, and a vintage brush, mirror, and dresser set. While I was there I previewed the stuff for an in person auction for today. I am heading out and hoping to win all the lots.

My husband and I already share an office on our 1st floor. He is self-employed. My storage area consists of wherever I can find room to put boxes, mostly our walk-in closet.

Kamboka - Wow! That is quite the family reunion! It sounds like a lot of work.

Petite1 - It sounds like you have a great auction house near you. I'm hearing a lot more people trying auctions.

Well, ladies. I had the best treasure find, ever. I bought a box with some Sterling silver and lots of rhinestones or cubic zirconia jewelry and found in the bottom of the box a ladies Rolex. I took it to a authorized Rolex repair shop and it is real. The auction people missed that one. I paid $60 for the box.

Petite1 - Wow! Great find! I bought a mystery bag of jewelry at my thrift store yesterday. They do get some gold pieces sometimes..No Rolex...Nothing much of anything good. Maybe get $5.00 a piece for 2 of the items but that's it. I don't know jewelry very well and I was afraid to try it but did. I shouldn't have. :)

petite1: Oh my gosh! You are so lucky. What a find. I'm excited for you. I'm always hoping for some find like that. I do like getting the mystery boxes with all that fun stuff inside.

Mom and I made it to TN in our two day journey. We managed to turn each days' 6-7 hour drives into 8-9 hours. We just stopped a lot and then we found a casino in the middle of nowhere MS and stopped for two hours. I had to work this morning but hope to rest up over the weekend.

Good morning. I hope you both had a pleasant Christmas. I did and the visit to the niece's house was not bad. The big dogs behaved. Someone made an offer for all the remaining purses, but hasn't made for it. Hope she does.

I was supposed to fly back on Wednesday night but I decided this weekend to cancel my flight and take the rental car that I have to rent to get to airport (2 1/2 hrs from mom's) and just drive to FL. It's about 10 hours. I do stop a lot and don't like to drive in the dark but had no choice. Tomorrow is thunderstorms in TN and any flight that wasn't cancelled for COVID will be for weather. Thursday is the only window of opportunity as thunderstorms come back on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, they go from 70 to 35 and possibility of snow. Glad I'm getting back to FL.

Kamboka - Have a safe trip back to Florida!

My daughter is leaving tomorrow for Maine. She comes back after a few days and leaves the next morning for Florida. She and a friend are driving straight down to Florida because her friend is going to be living there for a month and plans on moving there in a couple of years and is scoping out places and things for her business. Then my daughter is flying back home alone on 1/7. I'm hoping her flight doesn't get canceled but I'm concerned.

I haven't sold anything for two weeks even though I have been listing things every day. I'm getting concerned because I'm running out of room to put stuff and I have more time over the holiday to list items and want them gone. Hopefully things pick up soon.

    Kamboka, Have a safe trip.

mocame, Hopefully sales will pick up after the first of the year. The buyer that bought the remaining purses did pay. Yay.

    Happy New Year!

Petite! - Yay! I'm glad your buyer paid!

Kamboka - I didn't stay up until midnight but our neighborhood fireworks did wake me up at midnight so... :)

My daughter made it to Maine with a few adventures in the snow and came home around 9:20PM last night and then left again at 9:40PM last night for her road trip to Florida. Only the young can do that! Actually, they left early to try and beat the snow and storms that were predicted to hit on their drive down. They are staying in a house on the beach at New Smyrna Beach. Anywhere near you two? She did tell me it's cold. 60 degrees and breezy. I think she was disappointed it wasn't really warm. LOL.

Well, sales have definitely picked up this past weekend. I've been listing all weekend and have had sales every day! Yippee! I hope it continues.
