I did hit two estate sales today as the rain stopped at about 1030. I didn't buy a thing. So, I came home and started taking pictures. I've worked about 3 - 4 hours to be able to post 21 purses to Ebay. Some postings had multiple purses. These are just my 'not the best' ones. I have another 20 -30 good purses to go. I will wait on them and next week try to get some of my other items photographed. I was slowed down as a colleague that I hadn't talked to in 18 months called and we talked a long time. Tomorrow should be back in the mid to high 50s with sun. Can't wait.

We got a dusting of snow again yesterday. Roads were slick last night. Temperature this morning is 23 degrees. I'm done with this. Thankfully I am not going many places right now. COVID is still really bad here and we have so many employees out that my work has put us (strongly recommended since they can't officially tell us we can't) on restrictions. We have departments where there are literally only a couple of people still working. So, I haven't even been to church because we are supposed to avoid crowds. We have over 600 people at my church. This past weekend was the first weekend in a while that we went out to a local pizza shop for dinner. Hardly anybody was eating in the restaurant. Most people do take out.

I haven't sold anything in a week. I'm getting frustrated. Hopefully just the January slow down. I've been listing every day and would've listed more this weekend but I'm trying to finish up the bookkeeping and get ready for taxes.

Petite1 - Did you find that having the LLC was beneficial at all? I was hearing that you should have an LLC but just within the past week, I now heard the opposite. I haven't been doing this long nor sell a lot so I haven't done it.

Kamboka, Good luck with the purses.

mocame, When the rental business had 11 properties, it was needed. Now that it is only 3, not so much. We did it to protect ourselves, making the business a separate entity. I did file and pay the fee, so the LLC is still active. It also makes filing the taxes a little easier, because it is separate. We sold several of the when I was diagnosed with BC. We didn't know what the future would hold and didn't need the stress. Post BC we have sold 2. We will be raising the rent on the remaining, so people may move out and we will sell those, too.

I forgot to say, 26 degrees when I get up. BRRRRRR

Not sure what the temp was last night but today was sunny and somewhere in the 50s. I saw some frost on the grass when I hit the computer at 7am this morning. Tomorrow is supposed to be rain. I actually like the winter months since it doesn't rain that much.

No bites yet from my posts. I want to do some glassware or other type stuff and see what happens.

It is warmer, but rainy, nasty day. Good day to jest read a book.

Kamboka, what kind of purses are you selling?

About 15 are vintage evening beaded purses. Most have no labels. The other 15 are my larger bags. I have Aigner, Fossil, The Sak, one handmade, Argentina made, etc. I'm saving out my better vintage evening bags that are Whiting & Davis, Japan and Hong Kong. My large better bags are Michael Kors and Coach. Funny, I use the same black leather purse for years until it tears up. I go to some estate sales and there are so many purses that's where I'm picking these up from. I only sold a few in my yardsale.

Good morning. It is over cast, I think it started raining, but a little warmer. It is one of those weird days that the temperature doesn't vary much through the day. I haven't done my old lady walk for several days, nor the gym. When I start back it will be like starting all over. Hoping I get a little more motivated later today.

This weekend is supposed to be back to the high 40s. But maybe after that, we are heading up to the mid to high 60s. Last year, February was nice. I was video chatting with a colleague in Seattle and she had to show me the sun. So unuasal for Seattle to have a beautiful sunny day. It's a cute city but I could not stand the gray days.

It's 7 degrees right now! I'm officially over this cold weather. My husband has a colleague that invited us down to Fort Lauderdale for a few days in March. I can't wait!

And I'm frustrated with selling on ebay right now. I didn't have a great thrift day yesterday and I only sold 1 thing so far this week and it was a very low-priced item. Hoping it picks up soon.

mocame, I only sold one thing since Sunday. I sell the most on Sunday night.

Kamboka, I think we will get a little sun today. but mostly cloudy. It looks like it will make it to 60, then back to 28 on Saturday.

Today was mid 50s but windy. This weekend will be very cold, for us, but full sun so it won't feel as bad.

Good news, I sold one purse today. I was so excited. It was full price and not one of my high end name brands. It's a nice leather though. I got 20 more to go. :)

Sounds like it is pretty cold in Florida too. Yuck! I hope it changes soon. They are calling for a few days in the 40s (but raining) next week. Maybe you will warm up then too.

Kamboka - Congrats on the sale!

Posted posted about 12 more lots to Ebay today--some dolls, glass and teddy bears. Slowly but surely.

Good morning. It is 21 degrees. BRRRR

I covered my plants last night with towels. I hope they survive. Today was much nicer since the wind stopped blowing and the sun was out. I think we are supposed to hit 77 on Thursday.

I spent several hours this afternoon washing up a bunch of lots of costume jewelry that I won at auction. I must have 20 pounds. I'm then putting them in small bags for sale at my garage sale. My sister is supposed to come the last weekend of February--as long as the weather is good. My mom taught me that things sell better if they are clean and nicely displayed. I'll see how well I do. On Tuesday, I supposed to buy another clothing rack from a FB ad. I only have one and need another.

It's 10 degrees outside right now but it's supposed to get to 32 degrees as the high. Heat wave!

I've sold about 1 thing every day for the past 3 days. I will take it.

Kamboka - I have 3 teddy bears and some glass listed too!

Good morning. It is warming up. I had a good ebay weekend, hope you two did as well. Now I am shipping 15 little packages.

    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

Haven't sold anything since my purse last week. My prices might be too high but I'm just trying to list and then I'll go back and adjust the prices.

Wow, 10 degrees. I've just been in FL 18 months and I can see I'm getting more sensitive to the cold. Have pulled out my socks. Today we got up to 70 and sunny. I love being in the 70s.

Kamboka, It will be a beautiful day here, as well. Maybe I can go for my old lady walk. I bought a bunch of vintage MONET jewelry. Since, I still have the Dudley auction stuff, the Mount Dora stuff and some stuff I bought at a pawn shop, it will just have to be stored under the bed for a while.

mocame, I hope your sales pick up. I hate selling glass. I have had too many things break.

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

I've stopped buying glass at sales unless it's something I want to keep for that reason of breakage and extra care to pack to ship. Today, I'm washing more jewelry so I can package it. I bought a clothes rack from FB for my clothes at the sale. It's actually a lot of work for these garage sales. My mom was a great help as she loves these and knows how to set them up. My sister, not so much. I'll end up doing most of the work. I hope I can clear some things out of my house.

We might hit 40 today! Woohoo!

I'm continuing to sell about 1 thing a day and although I wish it was more, I'm not complaining. I'm only able to list about 1 thing a day. I've been working longer, more stressful days and that's all I can do right now.

Because of my health issues, I'm trying to go vegan. My stage IV coworker is literally eliminating her cancer by her vegan diet. She has the same oncologist as I do and our MO is amazed. But I may need to go off of my migraine medication. I've been having bad reflux for awhile and I think that is what's causing it. I can't take meds for reflux because I get bad side effects from them and esophageal cancer is not curable. That's what happens when you let reflux go and don't do anything about it.

mocame, I am adjusting my diet and trying to eat better. I have labs this month and last time my blood sugar was 147. There are so many good vegan options on the market. I love veggie burgers. I hope it works well for you.

Kamboka, What kind of jewelry baggies are you selling? You sound like you are becoming a garage sale professional.

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

mocame; Good luck with the diet. It really does make a difference. My mom had a friend who was in her 70s that had stage 4. She lived for many years more than expected because she became a vegetarian. Since I backslid and ate more sugar and junk food over the holidays, my back started to ache more. I need to detox. My sister is working with a nutritionist and is doing a three day detox. She sent me the menu but too many ingredients and prep time. I'm more apt to do a 3 day protein shake fast.

petite1: I put all my jewelry in separate bags. I have loads of earrings, necklaces, etc. I have two full grocery bags of jewelry. I bought these lots on auction as costume but I found two pieces that were gold and one silver--so that will pay for the lots. Anything I get in the garage sale will be gravy.

mocame, I am having trouble staying on the healthy diet. I ate an eggo.

Kamboka, That's like this last auction I won from Dudley's. It had a lot of gravy.

No sales since last week. Maybe this weekend I'll send out those offers. It will probably be feast or famine. My brother is building me some sort of contraption box in which I can take all my staging photos in. I kept telling him that I had an area but he is gung ho to do it so I'm going to see what he comes up with.

  • petite1
    petite1 Member Posts: 2,293

Kamboka, My pictures are usually the biggest problem. I end up with shadows that look like plating loss. Sometime they look out of focus. Let me know what happens with the box. Maybe I can create one. My auctions have been pretty good. It has been beautiful the last couple of days.

    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

My main auctioneer just said that he will not be in the area anytime soon. I think my things were not big money makers. He says he's been going out of state for more things. That means I got to get really busy with my Ebay selling. A lot of my things are too nice for garage sales because people don't want to pay much.

Yesterday and today have been in the low 80s and lovely. Tomorrow it falls into the mid 50s and rain on Sunday. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the last weekend of the month will be nice so I can do my sale.

If I can get my passport in the next month, I might have to go overseas to support my work. I usually love working overseas but I do not look forward to 20 something hours wearing a mask.

Kamboka, the weather has been wonderful. I have been taking longer old lady walks and enjoying it. We had a little rain this morning. The weekend is my ebay listing time. I do lots and junky stuff on Saturday and the true vintage, designer, and good stuff on Sunday. Wow, back to oversea travel. When will that start? Back to South Africa?

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

I posted 10 more things today. It was a variety of stuff. No additional sales yet.

I'm not sure where I might get to go in Africa. there are a few countries on my list. I guess it depends on timing. I need to be in the States most of this spring to plan my family reunion.

I only hit two estate sales today and bought some clothes for my mom. I don't have any sales tomorrow. It's probably best since it's supposed to rain most of the day.
