mocame, Sometimes purging stuff is such a relief. I put several lots of jewelry on last week, just to get it out of here.

I went to the PCP who changed my thyroid medication and did a referral to the Cardiovascular surgeon that did ablation on some of my veins when I was 62. Glad that is over.

Had a wonderful day at Zion national park. I'm so tired as I'm doing most all the driving but I'm having a great time.

petite1: I'm seeing something about a hurricane near Tampa. Any updates.

Kamboka, It is predicted to become a storm. He hasn't come into the gulf yet. I am doing preps, gas tank top off, new batteries for flashlight, propane tank fill, etc. The worst thing is no power for extended period of time. Hope Hermine the second won't be as bad as the first Hermine in 2016. We were OK, but so many of our friends were flooded. It took some people years to get their homes, particularly condos repaired.

    Subject to change

Good morning. Still watching, preparing, and hoping. I will be glad when this week is over.

My parents are supposed to leave early Saturday morning for Florida so we are watching the hurricane closely. Most likely postponing that for a day or two.

I hope you two and your homes stay safe. My thoughts and prayers are with the people living in Florida.

mocame, Waiting a few days is very good idea. At this time they are saying it will come in by Tampa and St. Petersburg. That is about 100 miles south of me, but it is still subject to change. I am not in an evacuation zone, but my friends are. My brother is in Largo, which is in Pinellas county. He will stay at his office, which is in Lakeland. My niece is in Pinellas Park and she will ride it out. My grand nephew is a St. Petersburg cop, so he is working. My grand niece will probably stay home or hang out with her mom. My BFF is in a waterfront home and she is evacuating. My biggest concern is the power going off for an extended period of time.

Kamboka, one of the projected paths has it crossing the state and coming out by you.

    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

petite1: I came home a day early to be here to prep for the hurricane. I'm thinking we might get some winds but nothing like what you guys are expected to get. I heard on the TV that Tampa hasn't had a direct hit in over a 100 years. Let's pray that it stays that way and you don't get one this week. I think we have three days of heavy rain. Today is cloudy. At least if the power goes out, it's not that hot like it would be in August. But again, fingers crossed that where ever it goes, it goes fast and doesn't cause too much damage. Keep us posted.

As I was typing this message, I got an alert on both my phones that scared me. :) It's a 36 hour alert. The next days, I should get used to getting these. Already getting lots of emails from JEA, GEICO, etc. with prep messages. I have lots of expensive glassware and that scares me. I need to sell all this stuff but heading back overseas in a week or so.

Oh, wow. My thoughts and prayers will be with you. I just saw they are expecting it to go across the state and then head up the atlantic coast. My parents' mobile home is in Lorida so that's not great news for them.

    petite1 Member Posts: 2,293

Kamboka, stay safe. It looks like it will be a tropical storm as it weakens crossing the state. We are out of the cone, but tropical storm conditions may occur and 3 to 5 foot storm surge.

mocame, definitely not good news for your parents. It will still be hurricane strength. Are they full time residents or just in the winter?

mocame: I had to look up Lorida as I'd not heard of it before. Looks like it's in the area of the hurricane as it comes inland. I hope that their property will not be affected.

petite1: I was glad to hear that Tampa was out of the direct path but the folks south of you will be hit hard. There are a lot of elderly in that area. I hope they evacuated. My cousin lives in Sarasota and she and hubby decided to stay and ride it out.

Just this hour, we started getting sprinkles and some wind. I think I've moved all my outside stuff in. I'm sandwiched between two houses and that can provide some buffer from the wind. However, I have a pond behind my house but don't think it will overflow.

My parents have postponed leaving for their trip until next week as long as there is electricity back by then. They just bought this mobile home last winter when they were down there. They bought it for them and another couple to spend the winter. My parents were going down to start preparing it to be lived in this winter. I also have an uncle that was supposed to leave tomorrow for Sarasota. I don't think they will be going right now either just because they would have to drive through the rain/wind to get there.

I hope and pray both of you stay safe!

mocame: It's supposed to be sunny here on Saturday. We've had a little rain all day with a bit of wind. The wind is picking up and tomorrow afternoon/night we'll see winds in the 40s. I have an early morning doctor's appointment so I hope it's not too bad. Winds expected in the 30s. I haven't received a cancellation so I'll try to go.

petite1: I'm thinking you might have lost power. Hope everything is okay with you and your family.

We are OK. Just wind and rain. My niece has been without power since 2:30 pm, yesterday. Looking at the damage, it is too much to even imagine. Kamboka, stay safe.

I hope both of you are safe and have not much if any damage. My parents place is fine. The eye of the storm went over their trailer park, thank God. The good news is that because of this storm, they found out the park has a safe house where people can go in case of these storms.

Good morning. The sun is out and it is cool and pleasant. My family members are all good. Kamboka, I hope all is well.

petite1: I'm glad you and the family weathered the storm. It's pleasant here too but the sun will come out later this afternoon. I went to Lowe's to get some spikes to re-spike my tree but their garden center was still closed. Went to Home Depot but they didn't have spikes. I'll have to order from Amazon. I did get a stake and tried to straighten the tree up. It was between 45 - 60 degree bend. My trip back overseas might be postponed till late in the month. I really need to be there before the 20th as I'm replacing someone. I'll start working virtually next week but that means getting to work at 4am. Ugh.

I'm glad you are having nice weather. We started with rain from Ian on Friday night and it hasn't stopped being cloudy and raining since. It just won't leave. My husband and I are going to the beach this Friday with some friends and I'm hoping it stops before that.

One of my friends was just diagnosed with BC. I told her about breastcancer.org, hope she checks it out. We talked a long time about my experience. She needed details and I gave her the details from my personal journey. After the conversation I was drained from reliving it and bummed out. Her sister will stay with her the first week post op and her brother the second week. I will try to help her out with what ever she needs. :(

petite1: Sorry to hear about your friend. Hope that they caught it early and treatment is tolerable.

I've noticed that both my big toenails were turning black for the last 6-8 months. I first thought it was bruises but it doesn't go away. Since I wear polish all the time, I just don't look at it. Last week, I noted an area of skin that is also black so now I'm thinking melanoma. I have a dermatology appointment on Monday. If I'm lucky, it will just be a fungus and I can get treatment.

My overseas trip might not happen until after the 20th. I'm actually happy to stay home until then, but now, my pay will be less.

Petite - I'm so sorry that your friend got diagnosed. She is so fortunate to have you as a friend to help her.

Kamboka - Please let us know how your dermatologist appointment goes. I'm praying it's just a fungus.

I'm also dealing with making some hard decisions regarding the meds my MO has me on and wants me to change to. I'm off the Prolia and she wants me to change to either Fosamax or Reclast. Neither one I want to take but it may put me at higher risk of fractures for the 1st year off. I'm trying to work on diet and exercise instead and I'm meeting with a bone/joint specialist on Tuesday. I'm having a few problems with my teeth that I think are stress related but complicated due to having taken Prolia or any of those type of meds. My calcium levels are on the border of being high. So, I plan on going off the calcium/D3 supplements. I did research and found that a lot of drs/hospitals say not to take calcium supplements because too high levels can put you at risk for a heart attack. So why did my MO put me on them?! I also have a video consultation with a functional medicine nurse practitioner on Thursday to discuss my reflux and see what she says about the calcium/bone issues. I'm going to try and treat almost everything by diet and exercise. I'm about 75% whole foods plant based already, and I've seen a big improvement in my joints and overall feeling better...except when I eat something like butter or meat...then I don't feel so good. :)

mocame: Sounds like you are doing some good things for your health with the diet and exercise changes.

I have a spillover of CA in my urine so they changed my BP meds to one that will help to rid it from the kidney.

My doc told me that I had to do Reclast or Prolia because the pills would cause GERD. I had the Reclast in September and so far I've not had any problems. I saw the dentist today and she is wanting me to get a crown and filling before it gets bad.

mocame, Maybe the high Calcium levels come from malfunctioning Parathyroid glands.

Kamboka, Sounds like toe nail fungus. Husband gets it on one big toe. It clears up and then comes back. He has to keep treating it. He is using OTC meds and should see a doctor for stronger meds.

I hope it's just fungus. I'll let you know on Monday.

Non of my estate sales this weekend have much that I need. I have one to go to and one of the communities near my house is doing a neighborhood yardsale. I'll check that out. My sister has agreed to come up here for our fall yardsale next weekend. I'm getting my things together.

I am having Ebay burn out. Some left me negative feedback, but revised it when I sent a refund. Some one bought a Very old necklace and bracelet set and didn't like it. I don't think she understood the very old bracelet hingepin clasp. c. 1880-1890. It was a lot of money, so I am waiting for it's return before refunding. Next month is usually the best sales.

petite1: Clients can be very picky. I've only had to refund once but I get so many picky questions about items. Hoping your November goes well. I'll be pulling my items soon and probably won't get to repost till next Spring. The weather looks like it will cooperate so I've posted my garage sale online. My sister is coming up to help. I hope I can clear out the garage a bit. Some of my items, I just can't give away. I have some really nice pictures and can't get rid of them. The frames are worth more than the pictures but people don't do them much.

I went to the dermatologist today and at first see thought she'd have to biopsy as I had a spot that looked black to me. After looking, she said it was blood. It takes four weeks to get the results. She thinks it's fungus. I have to use some kind of polish that doesn't allow for regular polish. I love polish so I'm bummed. Having to buy some new shoes that have closed toes to take with me to Africa. I usually only wear sandals.

Kamboka - I'm so glad it's just a fungus. I had the kind that you just brush on and it worked. If I ever see it may start to come back again, I brush it on for a few days it gets rid of it.

My ebay sales have tanked the past couple of weeks. I only sold 1 thing.

I was away this past weekend. My husband and I go with 4 other couples to the NJ beach every year. It was a wonderful vacation and just what I needed. The weather was beautiful except it was a little chilly at night and on Saturday the high was only in the 50s.

I go to see the bone/joint doctor today.
