Petite1 - So far it's just like a cold. I'm not stuffed up anymore but it's progressed to more of a cough now. Can't complain, though. I need to get into work to get some things so I can do more work. I get out of isolation tomorrow. I have to test again on Tuesday and if negative and no symptoms, I can go back to work. If it's positive (and I think it will be) or I have symptoms, I can't go back to work until 5/27. I'm hoping that they will let me pick up some of my work on Monday or Tuesday so I can get more work done because I'm very limited on what I can do right now.

mocame: so sorry to hear that you have COVID. I guess on the bright side, you now have much more immunity. I hope it doesn't get any worse than the cold-like symptoms you have. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it comes out negative and the symptoms go away. I have to test on Tuesday before I can leave the country. Most countries in the world require a test 72 hours before the flight. THe USA requires a test 24 hours before the flight. That is a tight timeline considering it take 2-3 hours to get the results back here. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can get out.

Kamboka - I hope your test comes out negative. My in-laws were in another country over New Years and went to test to come home and tested positive. So, their time was extended. Not fun for anyone when that happens. I'm sure you are ready to get home. Have a safe trip!
0 -
mocame, I am glad it is mild and you are able to work from home.
Kamboka, I hope you can get home soon. Have a safe trip.
Last night my nephew was found dead in his home. My niece kept trying to reach him by phone and no response. She went to his home, found the truck there, the house locked and the alarm clock going off. She called for the police to do a wellness check and he was found dead in the floor. The Medical Examiner said it was natural causes. He was never married and had no children. Sad state of affairs.
0 -
Oh, Petite1, I'm so sorry! That must've been quite a shock. My prayers are with your family.

The Medical Examiner said he died from respiratory failure due to COPD. No one knew he had COPD.
I have an ebay no pay person that bought several items. I check their feedback and it seems that no pay is a bad habit this person has. I will give them a couple more days and relist the stuff and block that buyer. I went to an estate sale on Monday and bought more stuff. It is stored under the bed.

petite1: I'm so sorry to hear about your nephew. How old was he? There just seems to be so many people leaving us much too early.
I got home late Wednesday and have managed not to have any jet lag. I immediately went back to my regular sleep time. Yesterday I relisted all my 60ish items to Ebay. Today, I've been taking photos and posting about 15 more items. I listed a silverplated tea set and got a buyer within the hour. I'm so excited. Just a minute ago, someone bought one of the purses that I've had listed forever. I guess it's not a bad idea to stop all listings when I'm gone and relist.
I have a question about shipping through USPS. Should I ask for a receipt at the post office when I take my boxes in. I've not been doing that but was thinking how anyone knows that I actually took it to the post office. When I do UPS, they give me a receipt.
There were no estate sales that I liked today. I might go to one tomorrow jsut to do something but they didn't have much either. Maybe next week will be better.

Kamboka, I get a receipt from USPS when I take packages in. I thought my nephew was older than he was, but he was 54. Welcome back!
0 -
petite1: I had just been putting the packages in the bin but if they are lost, the post office can say I never brought them in. I have three post offices the same distance from me and they are always slow with only one person working. I guess I'll just have to do it though. I listed 88 things this weekend and sold three.
This holiday weekend went so fast. I did get to the movies to see Top Gun: Maverick. It's was so cool to finally go back to the cinema. It's a new one with nice reclining chairs. I might do it again sometime but there are few movies I want to see. I don't like all these Marvel comic book films.

Kamboka, That is why I get the receipt. They can say it never was here. I have had lost packages too many times. To go just about anywhere they have to go through Jax and that is where they lost. It was very bad for a while, but seems better, now. If I am mailing within the county, I have to tell them so it doesn't go to Jax and back. Speaking of shipping, I have a pile to go out and need to get busy,

I know it is nearly 3 years out, but I have something strange going on at the spot where the drain went in. It started tingling this morning and now has moved down to just above my hip. I am starting to get a little tingle in my upper arm. I get the arm tingle sometimes, but down my side is something different.

petite1: I'm wondering if there is some nerve regeneration that is causing the tingling. The nervous system is very complex. Perhaps, see if it continues or worsens and then reach out to your MO. I've had so many things occur but only last a day or less and then on to something else. Hoping it's something as simple as that.
Thanks for the tip about getting the receipts. I was in a long line yesterday and started talking to a lady behind me. She only needed a stamp. I found one in my purse and gave it to her. No need of all of us wasting time in line.

Kamboka - I'm glad you are back! I always get a receipt from the post office too. That's my guarantee that it was sent. Both of the post offices I use know me and automatically give it to me.
Petite1 - I agree with Kamboka that it could be nerve regeneration. I had some tingling after my bilateral surgeries. I'm so sorry for you and your family's loss. That is hard, especially when it is so sudden, and he was so young.
I was only allowed to go back to work this past Friday, after my COVID quarantine. I was able to work a lot from home. Then on Saturday, I went to a surprise party for a friend and then went right to my niece's wedding ceremony at my parents' farm. It was beautiful. Sunday was food and house preparations for my daughter's graduation party on Monday (Memorial Day). Then it has been back to working crazy hours. I've been working from 6:00AM straight through to 4:00PM every day. Thankfully I have this Friday off. Yay!

I wore a compression bra, yesterday and the tingling went away. It didn't hurt, just annoying. I see the PCP today and eye doctor Friday. Saturday I will go to lunch with one of my friends and Sunday is the celebration of life. I will work on my ebay stuff this afternoon, since I won't be doing it over the weekend.

mocame: Glad you have recuperated from COVID and they let you work from home. It's hard going back to the 'full speed' at the office, I'm sure. I had a transition when I was in Africa going to an office everyday when I've been working from home for two plus years.
My family reunion has been impacted by this inflation and gas prices. Normally, I have over 100 people and now I only have 30. I might lose money since I've already booked some things that I can't get my money back from. I was hoping to at least get to 50 but don't think so.
petite1: Sounds like the bra helped. Maybe I should try something like that on my feet. The burn so bad at night.
I had spoken to an auctioneer who was supposed to come to my house today to look at my things. When he didn't show, I called. He was on the phone and said he'd call back, which of course he didn't. This is the second time he has promised to call and didn't. They are about the only ones in Jax that do online auctions so I'm stuck.

My PCP was out an another doctor was covering. It was a pretty worthless visit, though she did think Prolia would be better for me. Eye doctor today.
0 -
petite1: Is Prolia the shot that has to be taken twice a year? I think that's what I'm supposed to start. My appointment with the Endocrinologist is on the 27th. I'm sure that appointment will be like your--nothing substantive and very expensive.
I was able to sell two things today. I'm finding that sending out offers is working well. It's just that I don't always have 'watchers' for all my items. I tried to call the auctioneer again and he doesn't answer his phone. How can he run a successful business when they do not answer the phone. He doesn't know what kind of goodies I might have that can make both of us money. I'll try again next week since Ebay is too slow and I need to clear these out by the end of the month. I think I have about 200 items!

Eye doctor visit went well. No changes.
Kamboka, I hope you can find an auctioneer. You could call Dudley's (352)637-9588. The only thing I attempted to sell with them was a house. It didn't go over the reserve. My friend had some Americana stuff that they auctioned. It went over what she expected. You can do 24 hour auctions on ebay. I have done it, but it was years ago.
0 -
petite1: I wanted a local auctioneer so that they would come to my house and pack up the items. Otherwise, I have to do that. I've done that before and spent hours and then the two auctioneers didn't sell them well. My fellow in Tallahassee isn't coming through Jax often as he's off around the country.
I found out at the post office Friday that there is a self service machine that I can use to scan my packages to get a receipt. I don't have to stand in those long lines. I sold one of my old dolls this morning.
mocame: When are you coming back to Disneyworld?
0 -
Kamboka, I guess auctioneers are going by the way of brick and mortar stores. Everyone wants to do shopping online. I went to a TJ Max on Saturday. The new parkway makes it a breeze. It was nice to shop somewhere other than Dollar General or once in a while Walmart. With all the home building going on, I guess more stores will be coming. Sad to see all the trees going. It makes it so much hotter.

Petite1 - I'm glad your tingling went away. Hopefully it doesn't come back. I get the Prolia shots every 6 months. I have zero side effects from it, but you do have to take care of your teeth because having any kind of dental surgery, implants, etc. could be risky.
Kamboka - I hope you can find an auctioneer. That has to be frustrating, especially with ebay being so slow now too. The high prices on gas, food, etc. has certainly taken a toll on everyone. Gas here is now about $5.03 - 5.09/gallon. I am cutting back on spending and driving as much as I can but both of the kids are home now and my grocery bills are so much higher! My son and I are going to Disney in May of 2023. I just got the quote yesterday and have been pricing flights and will probably book the flights as soon as they come out for those dates. Should be in the next couple of weeks. Right now, that seems to be when prices are the cheapest.
I continue to work 10 hour days straight with very few breaks. No end in sight to that schedule. I don't get any additional money either for working long hours because I'm salaried. Boo! Both kids are home, which is nice, but I also am trying to help them and spend some time with them while they are home. My daughter got a really good paying teaching job and I'm so happy for her. In my spare time, I've been yard saleing and thrift store shopping for books and other things for her classroom. She has also officially moved home so now my house is packed!! She hopes to find an apartment and move out by the end of the year. Before the gas prices had gone so high, we had planned a beach trip this coming weekend with my parents, my sister, and her boyfriend to my sister's new beach house in Rehobeth Beach, MD. We are carpooling and eating most of our meals at the house to cut down on costs. I've been selling about 2 items a week on ebay, which isn't bad considering I haven't had time to list anything for a month. I had been putting out offers and putting promotions on my items so that has helped.

mocame: You sure are busy this summer. I'm glad your daughter got a good job. I can imagine the stress from both sides when kids have to go back home. Hopefully, it will only be a short period. I've had to do it several times in my adult life when I was living overseas and had to come back to the states with no where to go.
I tried an experiment this week. My car has not been getting good gas mileage. Normally, I would get about 125 miles by the time I used a quarter tank. Then this year, it was down to 80-90 miles. I'm using the BJ gas. So, I read that ethanol gas does not burn well. I broke down and paid 5.55 for 'real' gas at WaWa. So far, I'm at 82 miles and not even at an eighth of a tank gone. The report said that keeping the high ethanol gas when you don't drive much can cause damage. I wanted to go estate saleing on Saturday but it would be 66 miles round trip--so I decided not to do that. I hate that as I love driving outside of the city.
Today, I had about eight items ending on auction. I sold one at a great price, six did not sale and I'm waiting on one more. I've been listing like crazy and reducing prices like crazy. I just need to get this stuff out of my room.

mocame, I remember 10 hr work days. I hope it lets up soon and you can enjoy time with your family. That is great your daughter got a good teaching job. I am shipping 16 packages and 4 of them are combine orders, so it was a good weekend. I still am waiting for a few that have not paid.
Kamboka, My truck can run straight ethanol or regular, but no higher octane gas. I don't drive much, just to the post office or out with my friends. My BFF and I take turns driving. I went to an estate sale last week and got some good stuff and also junk. Sometimes, in order to get the good stuff, I have to buy the junk.

mocame: I am salaried but get comp time for when I work overtime. I like having the extra time off as I don't get a lot of vacation time. It seems like they are abusing folks not to offer them one or the other.
I am selling only when I sent out offers but I don't always have watchers. I sold my vintage typewriter this week and two other items. I'm happy to get the big stuff out of the way.

I had trouble getting into the forum. They wanted additional information. Did either of you have to do that?
0 -
I'm still hating this new format as I have to sign in each time. The old format saved my details. I seem to forget my password from day to day--too many to try to keep up with.
I've had a few sales this week but only when I sent out an offer. I'm actually not always even making what I paid for some things but at least it's helping to clear out my room. I've got over 120 things listed. I'm heading back to Africa in July so will have to unlist everything then--that's why I'm trying to sell as much as I can.
I'm getting ready for my reunion in two weeks but so disappointed that I have less than 40 people. I was expecting between 75 - 125. This inflation has caused folks to rethink travel. However, it cost me money since most of my purchases only recoup funds with a number near 75 - 100.
Also, my western trip for this fall is getting re-routed d/t the Yellowstone flooding. We had a hotel room in Gardiner which will not be back to normal this year. I feel really bad for those folks as these small business owners will have no income.

Petite1 - I'm so glad you are getting sales. That's great because, from what I hear, ebay sales are really slow.
Kamboka - I'm sorry you don't have as many family members coming to the reunion. The economy has hurt so many people and things. I just wish there was an end in sight. I've never been out west besides flying to California. It's my bucket list. I hate to hear about all the damage that has been done.
My sister and her boyfriend bought a vacation home in DE and so my parents and my husband and I carpooled there this past weekend. It was only in the low 70's and very windy. We didn't have much beach time and it was too cold to just wear shorts and t-shirt, let alone bathing suits. It was so cold overnight and yesterday morning, we were in jeans and sweatshirts. This summer has been cooler so far around here.
I haven't sold anything in a week but I did have my ebay listings on vacation for a couple days. I don't have time to list anything right now so sales will be slim to none. I still have 115 items listed and I will be happy if anything sells.

Kamboka, I had trouble signing in again. That is too bad about the reunion. I think people aren't traveling as they did. I did see the news about Yellowstone. Wow, the video of the houses washing away. So scary. Many years ago, in my past life, we bought an RV and went up the Atlantic coast, crossed diagonally across the country and ended in California. It took over a month and the RV started breaking down. I started remembering states by the part that broke. I think I was in my late 20's, early 30's.
mocame, You both have so many things listed. I have 59 on this week. Sales went pretty well this weekend. I went to another estate sale and bought some junk and some good stuff. In order to get the good, sometimes you have to buy the bad. LOL

mocame: I've been to DE but not to the beaches. I hear it's nice. Too bad the weather was cool. We've had normal to higher temps here. I know my mom in TN is near the 100s. We've been very dry but I see that a front is coming next week with rain--just in time to ruin my reunion plans. Hopefully, they will be the short afternoon rains that we are used to. I have 127 things listed. One of my auction items should sell today. Yesterday I took three small items to the post office.
petite1: I've not been to an estate sale since I got back. There has not been any ones with stuff that I think I can find something. I miss going so maybe this weekend will be better. I think it's the "hunt" that I enjoy most. I finally cleaned up my exercise room with all my goodies and stacked them around the room. Now, a visitor can use the room to sleep in.
My brother and SIL have a trailer and have been on a two week mid-west tour. They love it. The truck only gets 8 miles to the gallon but they don't have children so can afford it.

It took forever to logon, again. Wish they could get it fixed. My husband is having cluster headaches, again. He had them last year at about this same time. He takes Sumatriptan and has been taking over the correct amount. It causes additional headaches and now he is going through a withdraw. You can only take 2 a day and it is limited to 9 a month. The other day he had 4 headaches and took 4 pills. When we were at the neurologist, she did not mention the limitations on the med. All we heard was 1 every headache, but 2 hours between. What a nightmare. She gave him additional medications. He takes so many pills, I don't know how he can keep it organized. On top of all of that the 9 year old refrigerator is malfunctioning, repair person is coming this morning. The trees are getting trimmed this morning. I guess I had better get in the shower and get ready.
