In all fairness to the dead Republican, he was alive when the ballots were printed & it was too late to redo them. But people, however, DID know that he was dead when they marked his name. Will he vote by Oouija Board?......No, the Republican Governor will get to pick whomever he desires to replace him.
I think the Trump fanatics just marked Red all the way down the ballot. We had some really good Democratic candidates, some already in office, for state offices and they just about all lost.

OK, I'm indulging myself and allowing myself to picture Donald losing and just how it would be to be in the White House from (roughly) now till January 20th.....
Worse than being in hell!

Ladies, we were right in line with the rest of the country on this one:
Americans sought out junk food and booze as election results trickled in
New York(CNN) — As Americans waited and watched election results slowly roll in Tuesday night, many sought ways to soothe their anxieties about the 2020 presidential election.
And their priorities were reflected in these Google searches that reached all-time highs Tuesday night, according to Google Trends:
- Cookies near me
- Chinese food near me
- Liquor stores near me
- Pizza near me
- Burgers near me
- Fries near me
New York Times tech columnist Kevin Roose tweeted about a Ben & Jerry's shortage Tuesday night, saying, "Anxiety index: the entire Ben and Jerry's freezer at the grocery store is empty."
Dozens of tweets followed in response, showing photos of empty liquor shelves, freezers packed full of desserts and empty ice cream bowls.
Cravings for food and alcohol during a stressful times are a well-known phenemenon. Foods filled with fat and sugar seem to have a feedback effect that curbs stress-related responses and emotions, according to a Harvard study. The foods seem to counteract stress — and this likely contributes to people's stress-induced cravings.
Americans are also drowning their worries in booze. On Election Day, alcohol delivery company Drizly reported a 68% increase in sales compared with the average of the previous four Tuesdays.
Drizly, which operates in 26 states, said orders were up across the board, but blue state sales were up 75%, while red state sales were up 33%.

A side story:
Mississippi on Tuesday voted to replace its state flag, which had been the last one in the U.S. to include an image of the Confederate-themed battle flag.
"This will be the new state flag of Mississippi. Voters overwhelmingly approved it. This is a great day for the state as we move forward from a divisive emblem that now rests in the past," tweeted resident Sam Hall.
The new flag features a magnolia, which I love, we had a magnolia tree in the backyard when I was growing up.

For support, remember to breathe!
If that doesn't work, I have a fresh bottle of Ativan.

Breathe.
Ativan.
Emotional Support Canadian.
That oughta hold me for awhile!

We have a magnolia in our backyard too, and for three glorious weeks every late spring it's a riot of pink & white blooms. There's a singer-songwriter, Annie Gallup, who has a song (I think it's "Grandma's Best China") about her very Southern grandma, and observed magnolia blossoms look like delicate china teacups--lyrics were something like "Every spring Grandma's tree would burst into teacups."

The best part of Trump being a one term president is that he’ll no longer be president?

I'm not going to believe it until it's all counted. That said, at least this is encouraging.

Love the new Mississippi flag.
I want an Emotional Support Canadian too. If WA becomes part of Canada, I'm moving.
Fingers crossed, toes crossed. Come on, AZ and NV.

Love that teacup description of magnolias, Sandy. It truly is a glorious tree in bloom!

The new Mississippi flag is very pretty.
Yay for an emotional support Canadian.
Found my Ativan...I actually had more left over than I realized.
If WA becomes part of Canada I will move immediately. I have always wanted to live in WA so this just makes it doubly wonderful.
Until it is final (who am I kidding...until he is sworn in) I will be holding my breath, but this is very positive and makes me very hopeful.
Must remember to breathe.

glennie, your last two memes really say a lot.
I agree about not counting the chickens before the ballots are counted. It is nice to feel some true hope. I'm not sure what Trump's devious plans are to try to steal the election by taking it all the way to the Supreme Court. But I have read that Biden’s camp has a slew of lawyers ready to take him on. I am glad this doesn't look like a case of Biden winning the electoral college but losing the popular vote or Trump would be all over that and use it as ammunition to incite violence.

Oops, this below is wrong--there are a couple more races out there to go that favor Rs....forgot the total is 100, not 96! Duh. Sorry--math etc just not my area....
"OK, take this with a grain of salt as I'm not sure of this--
With Gary Peters (D) win in Michigan, that ties the Senate 48-48. Tie-break there would be up to VP, which means that if Joe and Kamala win, Kamala would be tie-breaker vote.......(am I right about that?)"

I love British Columbia, Canada.....so close but we are NOT ALLOWED to cross the boarder now, due to the USA Corona virus!!!!....
In 1971, when hubby and I were going to make British Columbia our home, my husband had a job up there and completed all his paper work and became a landed immigrant, I could not fulfill my paper work and required xray.....I was expecting and my OB said no xrays! (It now was my second pregnancy) and We did not want To risk another pregnancy loss.....so I stayed in our house we just bought, and moved in Jan. 71, now was alone in our 4 bedroom house growing our baby.
WHISTLER Canada was our go to place as our kids were growing up....lots of very reasonable codos, skiing and snowboarding on the glaciers in the SUMMER where many Olympic participants from all over the world were training.

I loved going to Vancouver for a weekend. There were galleries there that specialized in Canadian First Nation art. You never see any of that in WA. There were some really good artists. Not in my $$ range, but I love to look.

Brava, Ruth! Perfect touch!

I needed to see that, Ruth. Sometimes I think: "Oh, good. We're there. We're where we need to be." I forget it's a journey, never ending, on and on. We don't actually arrive at that final place. We just keep trudging along. One foot in front of the other.
Thank you. My heart is just a little bit lighter.
Go Joe.

I use to go to Amherstburg, Canada ( not sure of the spelling. My MIL was Canadian and we spent a lot of time there visiting her family We all lived in Detroit. I loved it there. It was very pretty there and I loved going to the hotel to have drinks. In this country you would go to a bar. Hmm, somehow going to the hotel made it seem a little classier.
Trill, glad you got some sleep. You woke up to something really exciting that way. I woke up to the same feeling of anxiousness that I went to bed with, but I did feel real joy later on. I think Biden has enough ways to make it through, but like Wren and others, hearing it in black and white and living color will give it a lot more permanent feeling. I think Nevada will announce tomorrow. Arizona does have big vote dumps coming. Next installment will be very early a.m. likely. Trump did get a nice sized batch of votes in the first dump -- and no one is quite sure what they are but it was said they could be early votes that were brought to the polling place. I hope the ones going to Trump slow down, but there are other states that it is thought will go for Biden ( like Pennsylvania and Nevada ) so if Arizona goes into Trump's column he will still be too far down. I do hope though Biden holds on.
Just thinking of having a president who actually knows something ( certainly enough to seek out experts and listen to them ) along with paying strict attention to the PDB's and actually reading and understanding them just spreads such a comfortable feeling all the way through me. On many days when Obama was President I could skip the news when super busy knowing good hands had the ball and I need not be worried. I long for being able to get through whole days without hearing my president's name or seeing a stupid tweet. I can't wait to know my future is resting with someone strong and capable -- and lastly to know that the First Lady will be outstanding as well. Maybe a hard road for sometime, but the leadership will be excellent.
