I hope that the Repugnican plan for voter suppression backfires on their constituency. In that they become so secure in their thinking they have the election sewn up for their party that Repugnicans do not feel the need to go to the poles but the Dems do in record numbers because they want them out. Wouldn't that be heaven? All in all, I do think we are wiser and less punitive.

If we can forgive everyone, regardless of what he or she may have done, we nourish the soul and allow our whole being to feel good. To hold a grudge against anyone is like carrying the devil on your shoulders. It is our willingness to forgive and forget that casts away such a burden and brings light into our hearts, freeing us from many ill feelings against our fellow human beings. Sydney Banks

I as well, am hoping all that voter suppression backfires greatly. As there was always more Democrats I think, the Reps. have always relied to some extent on suppressive measures, but they have really gotten 'in your face' about it lately or since this past election. I think the orange guy gave them a lot of permissions that they had a hesitancy about until he came along and just flaunted any authority he felt like. They ( the Reps. ) have patterned themselves so much after him that they are just hell bent to regain as much power as possible. I certainly feel they are very much going about it the wrong way, but I will admit that I do feel nervous about some possibilities.

I worry as much I think about all the extremist rt-wing judges McConnell got for the Reps. as well as too many leaning way right on the SC. Then again, I do hope that there are enough Reps. left ( since I think a fair number of them voted for Biden ) who may not agree with the do nothing for constituents who are a part of the GOP and who certainly don't see such overt suppression as the way to go. Liz Cheney ( as most of us likely read or already know ) is not a hero for standing up to Trump and her Reps. cohorts. She has her eye on a few yrs. from now although she is taking a risk doing it. Still you can't be sure. There may be a number of Reps. caught up in some of the Trump yrs. when a lot of make nice and cozy with the Russians were going on. So, who can say how much dirtier the Reps. could get between now and election '22. Usually the party in power doesn't always do well in the off yrs. but I would not bet on that holding since we are talking Trump and there is a whole lot more that will be un-covered by election time. Liz Cheney could know more than most how far to push the envelope, no matter how risky it seems.

I have trouble ( not saying it couldn't happen because it did once so far ) that a party that stands for nothing except suppression and doing little of nothing for their constituents and who continue to give the party as a whole a really bad name, can get very far. People did show that they didn't truly want the Reps. party to be in charge. I do think a lot of House seats got picked up because Reps. voted but I think they voted the down ballot. So that is my true worry. I just hope they fail so badly ( court cases from Jan 6th. as well as people like Greene and Gatz causing pressures ) with Trump getting hit by SDNY ( maybe an indictment or two ) and perhaps a lot of Reps. will give it a rest election '22. We can hope.

Bernie has annoyed me on several things but when he is right I'll be the first to cheer. If all things were reversed the Reps would be clawing to vote and make all these things possible for themselves w/o so much as the batting of an eyelash.

This is so true, and while for the most part I wouldn't be agreeing with her on much, her stance on Trump is what I expect from people with brain cells. There seems no longer many at all of Reps. with them and almost no one currently in the GOP.

I could say I'm sad about the Reps. party, but only to the extent that I really do think we need two viable parties. Sadly, the Reps. party didn't go to the dogs ( no dis-respect meant towards canine friends ) just since Trump as they have been well on their way for 30 yrs. or more. He was just the impetus to push them all the way over into great ruin.

Still getting a lot of the same media coverage which tends more to inspired viewership than complete honesty. So, I still get edgy when I think for the most part we ( Democrats ) are better of then the rt. Far as I can see Pres. Biden has a lot of ( 60 % or slightly more ) people behind him in agreement so he is definitely on the right track. The Reps. who stand for nothing but negative things then really are not but seem not to look on that as a problem. I guess they are betting everything on enough suppression and I did read on the way here there is some question about the possibility of the Ninja's ( accidentally of course should it be found out ) having already lost some of Biden's ballots.

Bill Barr and Rod Rosenstein are making negative news for the Reps. so one has to wonder how things will really be somewhere down the line. I can't believe all that is going on will be allowed to stand. Meaning mainly all the suppressive measures as well as the rah-rah's for a total loser. Read coming here that many of the orange thing's current advisors are upset because the orange thing is much more focused on his vindictive retribution to those he deems not having been 'with' him after the election with better help to overturn the election, and for saying anything negative after the events of Jan 6. Why would they expect anything else from him. He has been a loser long before he ended up in the WH, but it was ignored. No Reps. cared if he cheated, stiffed contractors and went bankrupt. They certainly didn't care that he was a playboy who cheated on wives with porn-types and paid 'dates'. After all their yrs. of trying to suppress and turn us into a really white U.S. they do not know how to win. If they want to know how to win all they'd need to do is look at the last four yrs. compared to the first 100 days of the current administration.

When a political party's focus is on a single person ( see L Graham's recent statement) instead of a platform, it seems obvious to me that the party is in deep trouble! Especially when that person is orange...

I have said that I think Orange thing is still in the news too much -- but he is desperate to be so just plops any thing he can out there. It gets scant play and then is pretty much over with. No one truly wants to hear from him. He hurts the party more than he helps despite the fact that he has some hard-line cheer-leaders like Gaetz and Greene.

I do think we are going to keep 'hearing' him more than we like until we get to the point that ( I hope we trounce the Reps. in '22 ) it is realized that the Reps have been throwing themselves over the cliff for someone who definitely is a total has been loser who can't cut the mustard, period.

We really do need to take note of the news while trying not to let it have a strong effect on us -- since a lot of it paints things worse for the Democrats while we know it really isn't that bad.

IT ONLY LOOKS LIKE REPUBLICAN PARTY FROM THE OUTSIDE. IT'S DEAD INSIDE TOO. BEING UBERAL BECAUSE REALITY HAS A LIBERAL BIAS'

I so hope this is true. There doesn't seem to be a lot left of this party. They stand for nothing and help no one but the richest among them, while being openly destructive to the needs and wants of the majority. They were voted out for a reason and a lg. part of that reason was they were out of touch with the needs of people and were not inclined to concern themselves anymore with anything but holding onto or getting more power. How far can you take yourself with something like that -- especially when the other side is doing the opposite. It is stark and I think despite the news making it often seem like the Reps are still very viable, I have trouble seeing it. They are holding onto a loser and they are losing for their efforts. May it be so thru '22 and '24.

Watching the "Vax Live" benefit concert tonight, I was struck by three things: first, the joy of watching musicians perform live in front of a packed stadium again (everyone in the audience was a masked & fully-vaccinated essential worker); second, the variety of genres represented except...; and third, that "except" was country. Shame on Nashville (the country music industry) for being full of right-wing COVID deniers & Trumpers...and pandering to millions more like-minded fans. (And shame on the sound crew for not boosting special guest AC/DC's Gary Johnson's mic--I normally can't stand him either, but with his volume so low and drowned out by Foo Fighters' otherwise excellent take on "Back in Black," all I could hear out of him was muffled raspy attempted screaming. I've seen him in concert before, and at least back then I could make out the lyrics).

I'm only dropping in a couple here from Politicus. When I see things like this it makes me quite ambivalent. The person they ( Reps. ) hold up as their 'standard' is a terrific loser and he lost all the way to and far past Jan 6th. They ( the Reps. ) have had I think sinister plots for a very long time, but could never get near far enough to hope for much fruition. Viola' Trump comes along. Even Lindsay Graham thought Trump was a huge mistake for the party but baby look at him now. He can't get Trump's pedestal high enough or gold enough. Trump has managed to turn Reps. brains to jelly. Here's hoping if we continue to work hard and smart we will get what we want in '22 and if that happens, '24 should be fine too.

To awaken each morning with a smile brightening my face; to greet the day with reverence for the opportunities it contains; to approach my work with a clean mind; to hold ever before me, even in the doing of little things, the Ultimate Purpose toward which I am working; to meet men and women with laughter on my lips and love in my heart; to be gentle, kind, and courteous through all the hours; to approach the night with weariness that ever woos sleep and the joy that comes from work well done--this is how I desire to waste wisely my days. -Thomas Dekker (c. 1570-c. 1641)

Divine all the memes are quite true. Now that things have become so much better for so many of us when I look back I'm amazed that we made it. That is held on so fiercely while trying to change things and having to wait until an election. Sadly, the Reps. are keeping us in a spot that includes them not being able to give up the other guy like we have.

Read just yesterday that many of them worry about the other guy bringing their party down and making difficulties for later elections. That may well be but they sure haven't figured out how to do something about that. I often read as well that we should be glad for all their stupidities ( and I am ) but it really means so much work for us. I doubt anyone minds the work so much, but we do need two parties who can find bi-partisanship and that is definitely not what the other side is thinking at all.
