What isn’t widely said is Goodyear also banned Biden gear.

Oh Chevy!! That’s so cool!! I remember you talking about him a long time ago!!!

Glennie, I saw John Lodge of the Moody Blues at the Lyric Theater in Stuart last February!!

Does anyone here want to do what I want to do: vote early and then go to bed? Just wish I was Rip Van Winkle and could sleep though the next two months.....wake up when it's all over.....

Hi Chevy! Hope you are well. Your brother's work is woven into the soundtrack of my life, heavily. He's an amazing percussionist, and his HOF induction is well deserved!

Chevy - good to see you. I remember you sharing clips of your brother in the past. Great news about his upcoming Hall of Fame induction. Thanks for posting this YouTube.

Chevy, that is wonderful news about your brother.
Ruth!! That is so awesome that you were there. I no longer live in that part of FL but have very fond memories of the different musicians that I saw at the Lyric.
Trill: Yes,,,, I would love to wake up in 2 months and have Biden be elected President. However,, since that isn't possible,,, time to roll up the sleeves and get busy.

Congratulations, Chevy!
Glennie, the friend that I visit has a condo on Jenson Beach. I fly in & out of West Palm Beach (where I went to a wonderful Downton Abbey Exhibit two years ago). Lots of fun things to do in that area.
I am settled in for tonight's Democratic Convention.

Ruth, if you visit that friend in West Palm, I’m pretty sure Glennie and I could be convinced to visit you.

That would be so fun! We'll see if she ever dares go back to Florida, and if I can ever leave North Dakota again!

I'm with you trill. Put me in a coma until voting time then again till it's final. Never been so stressed about an election! Voter suppression anxiety is killing me!

Chevy -- you know how I feel.
Trill -- in a way yes and another way no. I have hung on so tight and have so deeply experienced each up period and down period that while sleeping thru would be great and sooo less stressful I'm not sure I can let myself wimp out right before the final bell.
On another note: What a night at tonight's convention. I think it will be talked about for a long time. I think the Reps. ( the majority ) are remaining spineless and I do still have worries that the suppressive acts being generated may have an effect. I do wonder about those who MUST for a number of reasons vote through the mail and just how that will go. Even if one could assume that a large portion of those people will get their ballots in way early.
Still, I do not give up or in easily and I do so hope that people are listening to the convention messages and understanding the precariousness place we are in.
I so hope you are right Spookie -- that leaving on a jet plane will be easy some day soon.

I didn't know that --who would bother much even thinking about that ---- sooo it is why I'm not surprised in the least that orange guy opened his fat pie-hole and make that kind of gaffe. Very much just keeping up with himself in that department.

I was not aware they hacked any last time -- but then -- they have had four yrs. to get farther then they did before so I do take the idea seriously.
I think it could be just as much that things may have been planned to suppress the voting that is done in person and if enough ballots are mailed it, what is done at polling places may not have as much effect.

Thanks everyone....
Program was set up to a later date... after August... I just wish him so much luck & love... His wife Janie had breast cancer years ago... then kidney failure, been in long term care for a couple years... dialysis 3 times a week...
And he just got to SEE her yesterday.... finally! Been a few months, not allowed to be together... A port removal or something, and he could be there... I said how does she feel... He said she looks "beautiful".... Hah!

I do really like the way the convention is being presented. Much more interesting and personal. I am sure the Republicans are scrambling to figure out a way to make theirs more intimate. I loved the speeches by Obama and Kamala. You do feel as though there is a reason to look forward. Trump does not inspire anything. I will watch the Republican convention, but doubt I will enjoy any of it
I agree that it would be nice to vote early and just sleep until the election is over. It would be nice to wake to a different world.

You are goodness and mercy and compassion and understanding. You are peace and joy and light. You are forgiveness and patience, strength and courage, a helper in time of need, a comforter in time of sorrow, a healer in time of injury, a teacher in times of confusion. You are the deepest wisdom and the highest truth; the greatest peace and the grandest love. You are these things. And in moments of your life you have known yourself to be these things. Choose now to know yourself as these things always. Neale Donald Walsch

I think of that saying that tough times don't last, but tough people do. We have had a truly rocky and abysmal ride these last four yrs. but we are strong and resilient and we can learn and grow and get back I think to a far better version of what we had. May be hard to feel and see ( took 4 yrs. to get where we are ) but with Biden's and his VP and Cabinet's care, love and strong attention to restore and re-structure -- we can make our world a better place. What is old ( our former yrs. of doing well ) will become energized and new again.

Ruth, I used to live in Jupiter, and Hobe Sound. I worked in Stuart and West Palm Beach, so I know the area well. Or I did,, ,LOL. I moved away in '96. Geez that was a long time ago. It's a lovely area. If you have never been, on your next trip, go to Blowing Rocks Nature Preserve. It is owned by the Nature Conservancy. I remember when they took it over, and then removed all the invasive Australian Pine trees. People were so upset at losing all those trees, despite them being invasive. Last year, I went back for the first time since I moved away, and Wow,,, what a difference! It is beautiful, and wild. There are amazing rock formations there, that is very unusual for Florida beaches, and it is fun to see the waves crashing up thru the rocks. It would be fun to meet up with you. I haven't been down that way since Feb. when my Mom was in the hospital in Miami. I haven't been back to visit her or my brother's family since the virus started.
My mom is in an ALF and has to vote my mail. No choice at all. Must be sure she gets her ballot early, and in the mail early!
Great memes, everyone! I especially love the one about being such a loathsome POS that half of your party is at the DNC endorsing the other guy!

And this popped up in my email today. I will print the whole article here, as you need a log-in to access it.
Oleander Extract for COVID-19? That's a Hard 'No' Experts Say
Oleandrin, a toxic cardiac glycoside found in the poisonous oleander plant, is making headlines as a potential treatment for COVID-19, raising concerns that uninformed people may eat the leaves of the plant and become ill or die.
"Though renowned for its beauty and use in landscaping, this Mediterranean shrub is responsible for cases of accidental poisoning across the globe. All parts of the plant are poisonous," Cassandra Quave, PhD, ethnobotanist and herbarium curator at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia, cautioned in an article in The Conversation, an independent, not-for-profit publication.
Oleandrin has properties similar to digoxin; the onset of toxicity occurs several hours after consumption.
The first symptoms of oleandrin poisoning may be gastrointestinal, such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea (which may contain blood), and loss of appetite.
After these first symptoms, the heart may be affected by tachyarrhythmia, bradyarrhythmia, premature ventricular contractions, or atrioventricular blockage. Xanthopsia (yellow vision), a burning sensation in the eyes, paralysis of the gastrointestinal tract, and respiratory symptoms may also occur.
Oleandrin poisoning may affect the central nervous system, as evidenced by drowsiness, tremors, seizures, collapse, and coma leading to death. When applied to the skin, oleander sap can cause skin irritations and allergic reactions characterized by dermatitis.
Diagnosis of oleandrin poisoning is mainly made on the basis of a description of the plant, how much of it was ingested, how much time has elapsed since ingestion, and symptoms. Confirmation of oleandrin in blood involves fluorescence polarization immunoassay, digoxin immunoassay, or liquid chromatography-electrospray tandem mass spectrometry.
Neither oleander nor oleandrin is approved by regulatory agencies as a prescription drug or dietary supplement.
In Vitro Study
Oleandrin for COVID-19 made headlines after President Trump met in the Oval Office with Andrew Whitney, vice chairman and director of Phoenix Biotechnology, along with Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, MD, and MyPillow founder/CEO Mike Lindell, a strong supporter of Trump and an investor in the biotech company, to learn about oleandrin, which Whitney called a "cure" for COVID-19, Axios reported.
In an in vitro study, researchers from Phoenix Biotechnology and the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, tested oleandrin against SARS-CoV-2 in cultured Vero cells.
"When administered both before and after virus infection, nanogram doses of oleandrin significantly inhibited replication by 45 to 3000-fold," the researchers said in an article posted on bioRxiv, a free online archive and distribution service for unpublished preprints in the life sciences. The study has not been peer reviewed.
On the basis of these in vitro findings, the researchers said the plant extract has "potential to prevent disease and virus spread in persons recently exposed to SARS-CoV-2, as well as to prevent severe disease in persons at high risk."
But it's a far cry from test tube to human, one expert cautioned.
"This is an understatement: Care must be taken when inferring potential therapeutic benefits from in vitro antiviral effects," Harlan Krumholz, MD, cardiologist and director, Yale New Haven Hospital Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation, New Haven, Connecticut, told Medscape Medical News.
"There is a chasm between a single in vitro study and any use in humans outside of a protocol. People should be cautioned about that distance and the need [to] avoid such remedies unless part of a credible research project," said Krumholz.
Yet Lindell told Axios that, in the Oval Office meeting, Trump expressed enthusiasm for the US Food and Drug Administration to allow oleandrin to be marketed as a dietary supplement or approved for COVID-19.
"This is really just nonsense and a distraction," Jonathan Reiner, MD, of George Washington University Medical Center, Washington, DC, said on CNN.
