It actually seems to happen easier a lot of times just when you are at the center of your "No way can I lose I'm so omnipotent.'

I very sincerely hope these two go in a cloud of dust. They display such cold inhumane, heartless, attitudes and a complete un-willingness to see they are not on a scale that most of their fellow beings can even accept. I do think when you become that SURE of yourself that you just can't fail, that the stage is probably being set for a downfall. These two, though one said he despised the other, seemed to have reached their un-sustainable level (may it happen to all the errant Reps. right along with them) and will pay the price of their folly.๐Ÿคธโ€โ™€๏ธ

Another not so great Reps. and I hope he goes down in the same transparent way many of his other lying devious cronies are. It would be so richly deserved.

BREAKING: Jack Smith has zeroed in on Trumpโ€™s Save America PAC and an investigation into whether Trump committed wire fraud. Wire fraud typically carries a maximum prison sentence of up to 20 years in prison. Prosecutors are looking at the inner workings of Trumpโ€™s committee, Save America PAC, and at the Trump campaignโ€™s efforts to raise money on its baseless claims that Trump had been cheated out of victory. The PAC raised as much as $250 million by saying Trump needed the money to fight to reverse election fraud โ€” even though they were told repeatedly that there was no evidence to back up claims of fraud. It is crystal clear that Donald Trump raised money based on fraudulent claims and BROKE the law. If our laws or democracy are to have any meaning, Trump MUST be held accountable. LOCK HIM UP.

Maggie Haberman Sources Say Trump Prosecutors Are Digging Into Wire Fraud Charges On Top Of Everything Else

Multiple sources toldย New York Timesย correspondent and CNN analystย Maggie Habermanย that prosecutors are pursuing information that could lead to wire fraud charges on top of everything else ex-Presidentย Donald Trumpย faces.

Haberman โ€” an influential analyst to whom Trump pays a lot of attention โ€” has a network of Trumpworld sources, as well as contacts she has developed overย years of reportingย on Trump in New York.

On Friday, she and colleaguesย Alan Feuerย andย Jonathan Swanย published anย articleย entitled โ€œProsecutors in Jan. 6 Case Step up Inquiry Into Trump Fund-Raisingโ€ that details a new line of inquiry for the investigation that could open yet another can of worms for Trump:

As they investigate former President Donald J. Trumpโ€™s efforts to overturn the 2020 election, federal prosecutors have also been drilling down on whether Mr. Trump and a range of political aides knew that he had lost the race but still raised money off claims that they were fighting widespread fraud in the vote results, according to three people familiar with the matter.

Led by the special counsel Jack Smith, prosecutors are trying to determine whether Mr. Trump and his aides violated federal wire fraud statutes as they raised as much as $250 million through a political action committee by saying they needed the money to fight to reverse election fraud even though they had been told repeatedly that there was no evidence to back up those fraud claims.

The prosecutors are looking at the inner workings of the committee, Save America PAC, and at the Trump campaignโ€™s efforts to prove its baseless case that Mr. Trump had been cheated out of victory.

Haberman flagged one particular portion by quoting it on Twitter: โ€œAll three areas overlap, and could inform prosecutorsโ€™ thinking about whether to proceed with charges in an investigation in which witnesses are still being interviewed.โ€

That quote from the plugged-in Haberman carries a suggestion that wonโ€™t likely be of comfort to Trump.

Trump faces a raft of other investigations and potential indictments and charges โ€” theย Special Counselย Jack Smith-ledย Justice Department probes into Trumpโ€™sย mishandling of classifiedย information under the Espionage Act andย his conduct surroundingย the January 6 insurrection, as well as Fulton County District Attorneyย Fani Willisโ€™ย grand jury investigationย of hisย effort to overturnย election results in Georgia and New York Attorney Generalย Letitia Jamesโ€™sย civil caseย against Trump and his company, and ย his arrest and arraignmentย in a Manhattan courtroomย over an indictmentย on 34 felony counts forย crimes involving hush money payments to adult entertainment entrepreneurย Stormy Danielsย and others and theย E. Jean Carrollย rape lawsuit thatย went to trial this week.

Iโ€™m here, barely. Having a real hard time with this โ€œupgrade โ€œ Donโ€™t know when or if I can come back.

The conservative thread was called Mirror, and has gone quiet for many years.

DuhSantis has probably bitten off more than he can chew, Disney is sueing him for violating their First Amendment rights and experts think itโ€™s a good case. Donโ€™t mess with the Mouse.

I suppose I will get used to the new format....sigh....I do like having more emojis and the fact I can resize pictures if I want to. But actually getting to the forms and my favorites has been a matter of hit & miss; particularly on my phone. I am so disgusted with every going on both in my state and nationally that I don't even know what to say anyway

I think the new formatting is better than what we had but I wonder if there is any wiggle room for improvements. They did immediately get rid of the dislike button, a good move. I wish our signature lines were slightly smaller and italicized or in a different font; the current visual just feels kind of cluttery and itโ€™d be nice to tell at a glance the posts from the signature lines. ๐Ÿคท

But the emojis, yeah, they can be fun ๐Ÿ™ƒ

I saw a satirical headline that Tucker Carlson entered rehab after he was caught telling the truthโ€ฆโ€ฆ.๐Ÿ˜‘

I'm with you Divine. I'd like to be able to do some things differently and I sure wish the avatars were at least as big as they used to be.

Spookie and others, I do hope it gets easier for you โ€” and I say this after being sure yesterday that possibilities loomed large I would not be able to "learn" enough to stay on. I can't do much yet but I can make a post and am starting to figure out how to follow as new ones come in.

Hopefully we can suggest some changes that might be easy to "fix". I would like to size things a bit better.

I giggled over Carlson, rehab, and truth. I think he is not the only one affected either. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I also wish the emoji's were just a bit bigger. My eyes are okay, but far from what they used to be. It would help.

If you are wondering โ€” the one LOL is from me. I decided to try that out. ๐Ÿ‘€

spookie, I hope you can hang in there and hang around. I always love to hear your perspective on things, you have a good ear for whatโ€™s going down. I hope youโ€™re right about DuhSantis being in over his head. Iโ€™m so sick and tired of all the displays of toxic masculinity in Republican political officials.

Hereโ€™s a fun read for Sunday morning.

Top moments from the White House Correspondentsโ€™ dinner

    Kaanita Iyer

President Joe Biden joked about a range of topics at theย White House Correspondentsโ€™ dinnerย on Saturday but struck a serious tone as he called for the release of wrongfully detained Americans abroad.ย

The annual dinner, hosted inside the Washington Hilton, drew thousands of guests in support of freedom of the press, something Biden called โ€œthe pillar of a free society, not the enemy.โ€

Here are the top moments from this yearโ€™s dinner.ย

Biden calls for release of wrongfully detained Americansย

Biden used the opportunity to address a crowd gathered to support freedom of the press to send a clear message: โ€œJournalism is not a crime.โ€ย

He began his remarks on a serious note and immediately addressed the wrongful detentions of American journalists Evan Gershkovich in Russia and Austin Tice in Syria, reassuring the room full of journalists and the families of the detainees that his administration is committed to bringing them home.ย

โ€œI promise you, Iโ€™m working like hell to get them home,โ€ Biden said.ย

In attendance Saturday evening wasย Brittney Griner, the WNBA star who was freed from Russia late last year after being wrongfully detained. Biden and First Lady Jill Biden held a pull-aside meeting with Griner and her wife at the event, per the White House pool.

The president and First Lady also met privately with the family of Gershkovich, a Wall Street Journal reporter that the US State Department has deemed โ€œwrongfully detainedโ€ in Russia. Several journalists in attendance wore pins to urge his release.ย

The daughter of jailed Russian opposition figure Alexey Navanly, Dasha Navalnaya, told CNN earlier Saturday the White House Correspondentsโ€™ dinner represents an especially important event for those who are wrongfully detained because โ€œAmerica as a country represents freedom of speech, freedom of political expression.โ€

Roy Wood Jr. takes aim at Washington

Roy Wood Jr. pokes fun at President Biden's age

Comedian Roy Wood Jr., known for his role on Comedy Centralโ€™s โ€œThe Daily Show,โ€ did not hold back in his roast of Washington politics Saturday evening, saving jabs for both parties.ย

He immediately addressed the classified documents found in Bidenโ€™s Delaware home, telling the president as he stepped aside from the podium, โ€œReal quick, Mr. President. I think you left some of your classified documents up here.โ€ย

Wood also pointed to protests in France in response to the government raising the retirement age. โ€œMeanwhile in America, we have an 80-year-old man begging us for four more years of work,โ€ he quipped, alluding to Bidenโ€™s reelection bid.ย

But the comedian went on to dub former President Donald Trump the โ€œking of scandals.โ€ย

โ€œKeeping up with Trump scandals is like watching Star Wars movies,โ€ he said. โ€œYou got to watch the third one to understand the first one, then you got โ€“ you canโ€™t miss the second one because itโ€™s got Easter eggs for the fifth one.โ€

    Biden pokes fun at Trump

Bidenโ€™s jokes, meanwhile included a number of quips aimed at his predecessorโ€™s recent scandals.ย

He joked that he was offered $10 to keep his remarks under ten minutes. โ€œThatโ€™s a switch, a president being offered hush money,โ€ he joked in reference to Trumpโ€™s indictment in an alleged hush money scheme.

Biden also poked fun at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is likely to be top candidate for the GOP presidential nomination if he enters the 2024 race.ย

โ€œI had a lot of Ron DeSantis jokes ready, but Mickey Mouse beat the hell out of me, he got there first,โ€ Biden said.ย

Disneyย filed a lawsuitย against the governor and his oversight board earlier this week, accusing him of punishing the company for exercising its free speech rights with his political influence.ย

    Journalists celebrated and teased

The White House Correspondentsโ€™ dinner honored several journalists for their impactful work last year, including CNNโ€™s Phil Mattingly for his coverage of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyโ€™s visit to Washington and Politicoโ€™s publishing of the Supreme Court draft opinion that would later overturn Roe v. Wade.ย

While Biden also applauded the journalists for their work, he poked fun at their tough questioning.ย

โ€œI get that age is a completely reasonable issue, itโ€™s on everybodyโ€™s mind,โ€ he said, referring to his reelection bid. โ€œBy everyone I mean the New York Times.โ€ย

Biden also joked about how he dodges the mediaโ€™s questions. โ€œIn a lot of ways, this dinner sums up my first two years in office: Iโ€™ll talk for 10 minutes, take zero questions and cheerfully walk away.โ€

In recent weeks, the media industry has taken several hits โ€“ from high-profile terminations to layoffs, something Wood addressed head on.ย

โ€œThe untouchable Tucker Carlson is out of a job,โ€ Wood said, referring to the anchorโ€™s departure from Fox News, which prompted applause.ย

โ€œOkay, some people celebrate it,โ€ he responded. โ€œBut to Tuckerโ€™s staff, I want you to note that I know what youโ€™re feeling. I work at the Daily Show, so I too have been blindsided by the sudden departure of the host of a fake news program.โ€ย

    Celebrities show out

Saturdayโ€™s event saw a number of celebrities in attendance, including model and TV personality Chrissy Teigen and her husband, singer John Legend.

Actress Julia Fox posed with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer while actress Rosario Dawson and actors Liev Schreiber and Billy Eichner all took turns on the red carpet.

During the event, identical twin brothers Drew and Jonathan Scott, who host โ€œProperty Brothersโ€ on HGTV, drew big laughs as their sketch-style video showcased how they would renovate the White House.

โ€œWeโ€™ve been doing this a long time and we think we know how to turn the White House into the White Home,โ€ the pair said in video.

(i hope the Property Brothers video mentioned here is available for viewing somewhere. Good to know they are Democrats!)

I watched the dinner, which I always love. As a run-up to it, CSPAN showed some hilarious clips from past dinners. I had forgotten how clever Clinton was & even G.W. Bush did a good job of poking fun at himself (Trump has made every other president rise in my esteem no matter what I think of their political views!).

A good conscience is to the soul what health is to the body; it preserves constant ease and serenity within us, and more than countervails all the calamities and afflictions which can befall us without.

As well, didn't someone talk about the fact that we are losing tourism dollars because people who use to 'flock' to the U.S. for vacations and sight-seeing now are afraid to spend time in such a GUN loaded society.

Hi, everyone. It is great to see all the memes again. Trying to get used to this new format.

It's HARD living in FL right now,,, well, it has been for several years, but it has gotten dramatically worse.

And I want to barf when I see the DuhSantis for president commercials on TV.

I watched the dinner as well and do most years. Had some other things I had to do at the same time so couldn't give it the amt. of attention I do most years. Little did I know that back right before Obama was elected the first time, that I would be here today wondering what the heck happened.

Before then I had little time to eye politics, but I've always been a registered Democrat. So, in that sense waiting for what seems to me to be the downfall of the Reps. party is difficult. They do not seem to see that everything they are doing is geared toward things that people hate. Like being stuck it seems with the orange Loon, we have to continue with the cyclic process of the Reps. losses till the overwhelm point kicks in completely. A bad dream that just keeps going.

Along the way, all the weird personalities, some in high places like C. Thomas or DeSantis, or even Mark Meadows. They seem so mesmerized by what they believe that it is totally normal to them while being so transparently abnormal to us. Such a divide. It is hard to live with.
