Repugs are jumping all over Nancy Pelosi for getting her hair done at a SF neighborhood salon that was supposed to be closed but whose owner told her it was lawfully open. (Hair & nail salons and barbershops have been open here in IL, even relatively strict Chicago, since early June--with barriers, distancing between stations, disinfection, temperature checks, and masks--but services that can't be rendered while the patron is masked (shaves/beard trims, lip waxing, facials) are prohibited). Pelosi was definitely "set up" and is apologizing for having believed the salon owner.

Too bad they aren't as upset about 180,000 dead Americans as they are about one lousy haircut.....

yep. Dems need to be aware such setups are out there. Just follow the rules unless you can have proof. It's going to be a wild crazy ride until the winner is a lock.

This is flat out scarey. He can do it without Congress. Payments would stop in June.

I think it's terrifying and I don't know why the Dems haven't pounced on it. I remember the days when Grandma or Aunt Minnie had to live with family because they didn't have any income. I grew up with 3 generations, me, my Grandma who raised me and her mother who lived to be 94. People have had fewer children, so they could end up with 2 elders in the house. It can work if everyone can get along and there's room, but I don't think my children want me there if I can be independent.

I use Instagram to post political memes and try to keep my FB posts free of them. But I had to post your latest, Ruth, comparing the 17 year olds. I want to give people food for thought. Because I saw acquaintances on FB who were so mad that Bette Midler ridiculed Melania's accent, saying how their grandparents spoke with accents and it MADE them. Ok, seriously. You will go after Bette (yes, she was wrong) and not Don? I mean, talk about protecting the patriachy!

I also liked the meme of an elderly man in a hair weave, makeup and lifts bringing carnage to the US. Swear to god, many Trumpers act like they're rallying on _________( insert name of favorite NFL football quarterback) like this is only a sporting event. For some, I guess it is. Anyway, I saved this meme to post against Trumpers on social media.

ChiSandy, oh my gosh, I’m so sorry to learn of the eye situation you’re going through. I cannot even imagine what that is like. It does not sound pleasant at all. Though I must say, what a highly technical type of treatment. I pray that you are in good medical hands, that all the procedures involved go smoothly and that you are on your way to full recovery. Thinking of you and sending lots of good vibes your way.

Exclusive: Biden garners more Republican endorsements, this time from ex-governors

    Tim Reid

    https://mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUSKBN25U1AK

(Reuters) - Nearly 100 Republican and independent leaders will endorse Democrat Joe Biden for president on Thursday, including one-time 2020 Republican presidential candidate Bill Weld and the former Republican governors of Michigan and New Jersey, people involved in the effort told Reuters

The latest Republican-led effort to oppose the re-election of President Donald Trump also includes current and former Republicans in the key battleground state of Michigan that will help decide the outcome of the Nov. 3 election, the group's members said.

Called 'Republicans and Independents for Biden', the group is headed by Christine Todd Whitman, a former Republican governor of New Jersey who has become one of Trump's fiercest critics and who spoke at the recent Democratic National Convention in support of Biden.

"Biden is a decent man, he's a steady man," Whitman told Reuters. "Trump is trying to paint the world of Joe Biden as horrific - but that's Trump's America now."

Joe Biden shatters record with $364.5 million haul in August

    Updated on: September 2, 2020 / 12:06 PM

By Sarah Ewall-Wice, Bo Erickson CBS

Joe Biden's presidential campaign and joint fundraising committees raised an eye-popping $364.5 million in August, the campaign said Wednesday, setting a new monthly record for presidential fundraising.

The massive cash haul flooded in last month as Biden announced his vice presidential pick, California Senator Kamala Harris, and officially accepted his party's nomination in the first-ever virtual Democratic National Convention.

The campaign said online donations totaled $205 million, or 57%, representing "the best month of online fundraising in American political history." More than 4 million people have made contributions, with 1.5 million new donors in August, according to the campaign.

Seems we now will be getting the " explanation " for Trump advocating double voting. We all know he meant for people to do just what he said. He is losing the election for the Reps. I think he has always been the kind that is not going to go down alone. He will drag as many with him as he can. If he can't kill them he will just make them sorry they are alive. Harsh -- well, yes. Just like Trump.

More Than 10,000 Christians Call for Removal of Franklin Graham As Charity's CEO After Prayer Supporting Trump at RNC

BY JASON LEMON ON 9/2/20 AT 12:51 PM EDT

Faithful America, which describes itself as the largest online community of Christians working for social justice, launched the online petition following Graham's prayer during the Republican National Convention last Thursday.

"Unless and until you cut ties with Franklin Graham, his right-wing politics can only damage your credibility as a loving, Christian humanitarian organization. If the full Board will not vote to remove Graham as chairman, president, and CEO, then individual Board members can take a personal stand for the Gospel and offer their own resignations," the petition says.

....Although Graham, the son of the late evangelical leader Pastor Billy Graham, has supported Trump since 2016, Empsall said that the Republican president's policies are "getting worse" and can no longer be tolerated

Franklin is certainly nothing like his father, Billy. That will be interesting to see if he resigns.

I have to say that the rush on the vaccine is concerning to me. I am really worried that they will push it out before the election, and before they have completed the clinical trials.

and apparently Gerald Ford rushed a vaccine and that didn't work out so well.

And oh, my,, Facebook: The social network, in one of its most sweeping sets of election actions, said it planned to bar any new political ads on its site in the week before Election Day. It said it would also strengthen measures against posts that try to dissuade people from voting. Postelection, Facebook said it would quash any candidates' attempts at claiming false victories by redirecting users to accurate information on the results.

Will be honest and say I am not a FB member, have no desire to be on it, and really don't understand why it is so popular. Not a Zuckerburg fan either since I think he speaks with a forked tongue and is focused solely on his earnings. I am appalled that FB does permit false postings that contribute to inciting riots and property destruction such as the one that a 15 year old had been killed (false) and this led to property destruction and rioting. This feeds into dt's rantings and promotes civil more discord. He uses it to manipulate his base as well as other social media resources available to him to promote his conspiracy theories and outright lies. Not seeking to offend users of FB, just my MHO.

Donald Trump is the first president in 120 years not to have a dog, and one of only three presidents not to have a pet at all. If you are an animal lover, that in itself speaks volumnes.
