I guess that is exactly why Trump starting downing mail-in ballots immediately -- so he could set the stage to try and convince people early that he won and if he didn't someone was cheating -- and then find reasons to throw out ballots. I'm anxious about this while being disgusted. Then again, many have said ( even Mary, rump's niece ) that Trump will do anything over anyone to WIN. The level of chicanery means absolutely nothing to him. That is very true and I to a lot of those who are hoping he does win -- the demented, greedy and possibly in some cases nervous Reps who have enabled Trump and may be guilty of things ( like getting Putin money ) that they don't want known by anyone.

Also wanted to say that Rachel Maddow had Stephanie Wolcott on her show tonight. It was VERY interesting and had a great deal of discussion about all the money gathered for Trump's rather boring inaugural festivities. I had forgotten that Melania turned her back on her 'friend' Stephanie and Mrs. Wolcott was basically made the scapegoat for this missing money.
Ms. Wolcott said she did have some hope due to this friendship that Melania would choose to honor the friendship but she never did. Proves that she can be just as cold and calculating as anyone. I guess some of the WH legal people told Melania she would have to throw Ms. Wolcott under the bus and so w/0 a backward glance she did just that.
That said, Ms. Wolcott has , it sounds like , had to suffer in silence for a certain amt. of time before she could say anything because she to had to sign a non-disclosure agreement. She does have her own lawyer of course, but she has also testified to three different agencies investigating where the inaugural money ended up. She also stated that she wished she had never met Melania Trump and that she did record some conversations specifically due to finding herself under the bus. After all, I think one could assume it fair -- one of your best friends looks the other way while you get taken apart seam by seam so there is a scapegoat. Even worse I think since apparently Ms. Wolcott was use to being meticulous in detail and had raised questions any number of times about the cost of things that appeared to her very outlandish. Frankly, it sounds like their is a good possibility Trump and Melania made a mint off the people. Scam artists extraordinaire. !! Even though I looked on the book as being somewhat gossipy, I may have a long second think about a possible purchase.
A number of books here seem to be coming out in rather quick succession -- Michael Schmidt has one as well that sounds a mite interesting. He is the one who wrote about Trump's visit to Walter Reed late in 2019 -- and try to call it starting the yearly physical early. I'm pretty sure Trump won't be happy about ANY book he didn't direct be written and especially ones from people who were close enough to know the truth. I think Cohen's book may be coming soon too.

and:
Sen. Ed Markey defeated Rep. Joe Kennedy in Tuesday's Democratic Senate primary in Massachusetts, inflicting the Kennedy family's first-ever defeat in the state and notching a big win for progressives who made Markey's campaign a national cause this summer.
Kennedy called Markey on Tuesday night to concede, Kennedy's campaign said.
Kennedy, 39, was the early favorite when he decided to challenge Markey for the seat. But the 74-year-old Markey reestablished himself as a liberal powerhouse, and pre-election polls showed that the incumbent built a passionate base of support among younger voters, despite the age gap between the candidates.

((Sandy)) Thinking positive thoughts for you. Damn cancer.
I love that meme about how the scary people are white with a USA cap and a confederate flag sticker. Yup. Just how I feel
I always felt Jimmy Carter was a true Christian.
And that opinion piece from the evangelical Christians who were not going to vote for tRump unless he changes his way,, was interesting. It reminds me how much they are "one-issue" voters. Abortion. They will vote for the person who says they are going to outlaw it. I also find it interesting that they are "hopeful" that tRump will change his ways and get some promises kept,,, don't hold your breath, people. I just hope they will vote for Biden when the time comes. A non-vote doesn't help us.

Life is not a competition with others. In its truest sense it is rivalry with ourselves. We should each day seek to break the record of our yesterday. We should seek each day to live stronger, better, truer lives; each day to master some weakness of yesterday; each day to repair past follies; each day to surpass ourselves. This is, simply, progress. -C. Smith Sumner

And this NY Times weighs in on this subject: (As a Floridian, we were on pins and needles for days, hoping for Democratic victory)
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/09/02/us/politics/vot...
As returns came in on election night in Florida in 2018, the Republicans running for governor and the Senate took narrow leads in races that were too close to call.
Over the next days, their Democratic opponents began closing the gaps as mailed-in votes were counted. President Trump raised an alarm. Demanding that the races be called for the Republicans, Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis, he tweeted falsely that "large numbers of new ballots showed up out of nowhere," adding: "An honest vote count is no longer possible-ballots massively infected. Must go with Election Night!"
Nothing was fraudulent about the ballots tallied in the days after Election Day. And neither Democrat went on to win his race. Yet Mr. Trump has never let go of a baseless accusation that Democrats use mail voting to "steal" elections, a piece of disinformation he has promoted all year, including at the Republican National Convention.
Now, with the coronavirus pandemic driving an explosion in absentee voting, and polls suggesting that far more Democrats than Republicans plan to vote by mail, a nightmare scenario haunts Democratic strategists and elected officials.
What if early results in swing states on election night show the president in the lead because most Republicans voted in person, yet in the days afterward, as mail ballots that tilt heavily Democratic are tallied, states flip to Joseph R. Biden Jr.?
Would Mr. Trump claim premature victory — as he did on behalf of the two Florida Republicans and dangled as a possibility in a tweet in July: "Must know Election results on the night of the Election, not days, months, or even years later!"
Would the president, joined by allies in the G.O.P. and the news media, sow distrust in the election by arguing that mail ballots that shift states away from him are "rigged"?
Mr. Trump has been pushing denunciations of mailed-in votes for months, and his penchant for conspiracy theories is only intensifying, such as saying this week that people in "dark shadows" are behind Mr. Biden's campaign. The nightmare scenario in November is worth preparing for, many Democrats say.
"We've certainly seen candidates trying to get out in front of a narrative and declare victory when all the votes have not been counted," said Jocelyn Benson, Michigan's secretary of state, a Democrat whom Mr. Trump has attacked for promoting mail voting.

I had such trouble listening to the orange doofus when he talked about this, but beware -- there are so many other doofuses who believe every word this orange misfit says. Astounding !!! Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to the kitchen to hide my soup. I don't want anyone to burgle my soup. My go-to when I'm out of lunch-meat -- which for now seems to be safe.

A little proof that he doesn't know what he is saying or hear it in recognition after he does. This has DOOFUS written all over it.
