She was such a powerful mind and spirit......and I think it's a double tribute to her that I don't even have to name whom I mean.
Peace to you forevermore, good woman!

She worked hard I believe to stay with us. I truly want to cry but I want to watch some of the tributes to her and some of the ideas and thoughts coming from others. It is so hard to think our great RBG will be sitting on heaven's court now. She will be just as wonderful there.
Discussed with my cousin this afternoon some things. She says she watches CNN and Fox. I heard a lot more Fox out of her than CNN. So I told her, most Fox viewers minds can't be changed but I do want to share one thought with you. You say you don't want Trump but you can't stand Biden. It would be better then likely if you don't vote at all. If you write someone in you are definitely voting for Trump. That will be your gift to all the people you love and care about because if Trump gets in -- whatever you don't like happening now is going to happen tenfold or more. That is what you will be giving all the people you love.

Just read that her last wish was for a new president to name her replacement. My wish too!

I'm hoping Romney, Murkowski, Gardner, Collins (and all the GOP Sens. running for reelection in blue states) have the principled backbone to vote against confirmation--especially given Moscow Mitch's refusal to even let Garland's nomination reach the floor "because it was an election year and for the voters to decide." He's backtracking now, saying that Obama was a lame duck but Trump is running for a second term so there's the difference. (Trump is definitely going to announce his choice ASAP).
Even if this is not your faith's High Holy Day, pray like never before.

Someone in the sidebar chat during YouTube services suggested that God would let only a "tzaddiket" (righteous woman) pass away on Rosh Hashonah.
Not only is reproductive freedom hanging by a thread, but so is health care, civil rights and the environment. And whoever gets confirmed wields the scissors.

Dems can't block. I don't get why the senate has more important powers than the house. Prez gets impeached, senate doesn't remove. Seems between the 2 it's more important to have the senate.
RBG fought hard to stay alive for us. Damn cancer. But she overcame alot but unfortunately she could no more. Rip. There will be a far right in by the end of oct imo.

Think McConnell's gonna be his usual self and his minions right behind him...but I think it just also may arouse more Dems to get out and vote.......that's a hope.......
At least there won't be a Justice Cruz grinning down at us from up there on the bench.....(smiling usually makes folks look better...with him it's just the opposite...his smile is like italics: This here is one ugly mug.)

I'd rather have another conservative on the SC for a decade than rump for 4 more years. I think if they jam 1 in when back in feb 16 it was too late then more dems will vote these mfers out.

Okay, that's it. I'm totally and completely done with 2020. A Global Pandemic and social justice protests, I can deal with. My broken ankle in June sucked, but I got past that.. We had the hottest day ever recorded in September at 113 degrees two weeks ago and the Bobcat Fire is close enough that we haven't been able to go outside for ten days because of the smoke. My father in law's memorial service was today, and we couldn't go. We had to watch it on Facebook. We lost Ruth Bader Ginsburg today. And we just had a 4.6 earthquake with an epicenter less than ten miles from my house. I just want this horrible, horrible year to be over. Put a fork in me. I'm done.

Thoughts:
Seen on FB today: "Want to do something? Write up this quote on a postcard and send it to Lindsey Graham."If an opening comes in the last year of President Trump's term, and the primary process has started, we'll wait to the next election." - Lindsey Graham, 10/3/2018"
You can go to his website and email a response there. If anyone here lives in SC!!! Please do so. I did it, and my automatic response said he only personally responds to SC residents. However I think we should bombard him with this quote.
I'm going to follow up on this list myself after Rosh Hashannah:
Here's a list of GOP Senators who said the next justice should not be nominated in an election year.

Would that there were an award for people who come to understand the concept of enough. Good enough. Successful enough. Thin enough. Rich enough. Socially responsible enough. When you have self-respect, you have enough.

I just emailed my senator, who is on record as saying no confirming a judge during an election year. I said that I was waiting with baited breath to see if he was being hypocritical then or if he would actually preach what he then preached. I will be making another to a PAC called Ditch Mitch, also to Biden/Harris, and maybe another contribution to the Lincoln project as well.

Ruth You go!

I think either way it will fire up Dem base even more. If they push through a candidate before election, it will be the end of GOP in the WH, Congress and Senate. If they don't, Trump base will be motivated, but Dems' will still be stronger.

May she rest in power.

Does anyone remember the novel The Lovely Bones? In it, the dead couldn't perform big miracles, but they could do things like cause their loved one's flowers to bloom extra long, or in the case of the protagonist, cause an icicle to fall from a building right through the head of her murderer who happened to be standing under it. Maybe RBG could dislodge a gargoyle while Mitch McConnell is beneath it spouting off his treasonist nonsense.......just a suggestion.....

Ruth,
That is one of my favorite books. Beautifully written and a unique perspective on a family tragedy.

Make that double darn Spookie. Ruth, I think I remember having had some small discussions about your Senator and possibly a couple of other people back when Pres. Obama brought forth Merritt Garland and McConnell would not allow hearings for him. Makes the events that will un-fold now all the more raw. I do take heart ( though I've heard it both ways ) that perhaps it could happen for the chosen judge to be voted down. Even if waiting ( who knows at the moment ) until after the election, and in Trump's waning days could still be lousy for any of the Sens. who are in election jeopardy. Then again, I've looked at the whole Rep. party as having been on a slippery slope for some time and to me almost nothing right now could make it worse.
I wonder how it really feels to Trump and the party right now. I read something ?? maybe earlier today that in Oct. ( person making the statement which I didn't get to fully go over was Scaramucci ) that a high up person in the admin would resign and likely several more. Well, that would be reasonable to me somewhat. I recall hearing from time to time that people around Trump are not happy and they don't have good opinions of him. That is as awful long time to wait to register your disagreement. Still I'll be looking for it since I've heard more than once that many people don't agree with Trump at all.

How he really feels? As soon as I heard about RBG's death last night, I had an immediate image of the orange one capering around with glee like a gibbering idiot.

I believe that, and he had a recent tweet ( I saw it this morning ) that he is going to put up someone immediately. I doubt he used that last word. Likely too long for him -- but he isn't wasting time. I see it as a mistake but that is what he makes out of the presidency and the WH.

Ruth, I recall that book and really loved its unique perspective......I see it's available as a spoken book (from library)...may get that and listen this time...thanks for reminding me! And keep up your good deeds!
Well, maybe whoever sent that ricin to DT was only trying to give him a supplement to increase his brainpower.....it has nowhere to go but UP.....
I hope the Dems really rally at this nominating deal now that RBG has left a vacancy......
To the GOP and the ultra-conservative far right and all those who seek to take us back to the middle ages regarding a woman's right to choose what she does with her body--as opposed to what men want to do with it--PHOOEY on you! As the saying goes, nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come, and the time CAME for abortion legalization and other rights and freedoms....you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube.....all autocracies will come to see this...from China to Russia, where the citizens are clamped down.....it will not last....we may not see it in our own time but there will ALWAYS be revolts against repressive autocratic leadership......ALWAYS! ALWAYS! No way but UP! (Re Russia's poisoning of Navalny---> a power poisoning its enemies betokens an unhappy people. And we know what THAT leads to....)

What happen to the days where America voted and then Life went on. Dems are stuck in Limbo land and can't just pick up the ball and try again. Like a kid losing and taking his ball home. Get Over It. Americans will Vote and Life goes on. Prayers to the Family of Ruth Ginsburg I am sure they will miss her. She served her Nation and will not be forgotten. But President Donald J Trump has served us and kept to his promises. Somethings just happen and only God controls them. My Vote will go to TRUMP. You are Free to vote for who you wish. Thank God and America for that. God Bless America!!!

beep, you are in the wrong place, Trump supporters are not supposed to be here, this is a liberal-friendly zone. Please take your admonishing somewhere else, and we're not interested in who you will vote for either.
Another scenario that is scary is that he will push a new justice through just before election to have a solid majority and then will contest the election no matter how badly he loses on some stupid ground and then SC hands him the presidency. Can anyone think this happening?
