I expected to be sad at RBGs death and I plan to stay the course - but I didn't expect it would be such a gut punch. And a punch over & over all day yesterday whenever I thought about it. I don't remember being this weepy for my own parents. What a marvelous role model she was - and will continue to be.

So much above my last post is wonderful. Shout out to pupmom for Trump's true colors and Exbrnxgrl for a firm but caring reminder that we are specific in this thread, but do have an opposite one if one feels the need to post at this time. The mods have been quite fair in dealing with this very partisan issue that tends to haunt both sides. I hope your entry is taken to heart.

ej3 what you point out is a wonderful aspect. There were so many people I saw elsewhere that I truly thought were such fine people with a wonderful way of looking and speaking about life and was so surprised to start lurking ( in the beginning ) on this thread and find so many of those same people to be of the same persuasion as me in the area of politics. I'm so happy you pointed that out.

Lastly Trill I'm not forgetting you. You put in so much that I like and while every entry is fantastic I really cherish this one: the spiritual side of me can have great respect for those who have added much to our lives while they were here and since I've always believed souls/spirits work just as hard as they leave us it makes sense to me that they silently can intervene to help goodness and positive things stay in our existence. Because they cared so much while they were here.

So the drump is admitting to be a cheater as well as a liar. Why is this not news? If we will never see him again, I would like to suggest several venues like a prison in Moscow, his current wife's home country (even she didn't want to stay there), being a guest of North Korea or some other country with his favorite dictators as places to settle.

If Federal judges would be willing to assist him in stealing the election then they are violating their legal oaths of office and profession.

Spookie those snippets are wonderful as well. I sooo hope we are hearing a lot of bluster which "Trump is a whiz at but often I think he says things to get his people to move on something and it may be found out later that it just can't be EFFECTIVELY done making it a good bluff but of little use. Hopefully someone here will have that answer.

Trump has just denied reality ( there is the bluster ) because he says and does what he wants and in many cases someone with his mental imbalances gets away with it because no one can believe a person would come close to trying it. Anyone who is rational with a true conscience would not and he just walks right in and does it. Harder though when it is just vocal meanderings. Everyone around him knows to attempt as strongly as possibly to fulfill his 'orders' but for the most part it rarely works. May this end up the same way.

I think there will be such a broad range of things coming up. I've said before that I thought Biden and his people have tried to think of as much as possible that Trump and co. could attempt to do and found good work arounds for it. I so hope it is so, but because of changing circumstances ( like losing RBG ) much to come un-expected along the way. I still think there is plenty of opportunity for Trump to float down the tubes. Of course, the more time passes the better for our side. It is a gauntlet for sure.

glennie19: Thank you for posting the information on GOP senators words after the deaht of Justice Antonin Scalia. I just cut and pasted what Pat Toomey (pitiful Trumper) said and sent it to him regarding RBG. Doubt that he will remain a man of his word but he is up for re-election in '22 and some of us have long memories. He's an arrogant SOB who votes on the party line and never holds town halls, you get "canned" responses to emails or feels he has to represent his constituency. He needs to go as well but I do think he needs to be held responsible for upholding what he said in 2016. We'll see what happens.

RBG's passing is both very sad and scary. Such a fighter for justice, and a cancer survivor for years. With the Senate more concerned about retaining a Republican majority than about America, the Constitution, or you and me, voting is more important than ever. Trump's nominee if confirmed will NOT be a champion for justice, human rights, or equality. There are no pictures of Trump with a dog, fortunately. He does not deserve a dog. Humor is fun, but action is needed. I have always voted and occasionally written to representatives. 2 years ago was the first time I ever had lawn signs, and this year is the first year I have made political contributions. This year I participated in letter writing, encouraging people to vote and providing links where they could register and get mail-in-ballots. I just sent postcards to people in another state, encouraging the same. Both groups provided the script they wanted written in the letters/cards. This is where you can get a postcard kit which should include the postcards, a script, namne/ addresses, ane stamps. Please Act! https://www.bluewavepostcards.org/

I'm gonna make calls, urging people in crucial states to vote early in person (as distanced & protected as possible) so that their votes will be counted on Nov. 3.

Betrayal, slight correction: though Melania's spiritual home may be Moscow, her home country is Slovenia--which was, admittedly, behind the Iron Curtain until the 1990s. But it was never one of the USSR's "republics.

Sandy: Sorry, my punctuation caused the confusion because I know she is from Slovenia; I wanted him in a prison in Moscow. He seems to think things are better there than they are here. I've been to Slovenia and it had wonderful food. The area we visited was pretty but most people want to get out due to its economy.

This is something positive to read and since Trump is such a horrid downer with his insanities, dirty tricks, wild and likely undoable feats, I decided to drop it in here. It is not something I count on, but I don't mind holding out some hope. As I often mention....Biden with the help of many ( and I'm sure Obama was one of those people ) has had I think a great deal of help in his planning and strategies. This article sounds like it could easily be a part of a good plan. If so, for now it seems to be working well. Prayers that it will indeed continue. It does seem much pressure has been applied to Trump and co. and it also seems there has not been much of a let-up. I would keep the pressure on ALL of the people on that side as much as one could -- especially Moscow Mitch the snake. Others too need to have to deal with rather constant pressure -- thinking Lindsey Graham here.

Another great read: I have huge trust in Nancy Pelosi. Sometimes it seems like we are at the mercy of Trump because no one says no to him, but he has LOST on many of the things he has tried to do -- like his Muslim ban fiasco's and his border wall that Mexico would pay for and so much else. We don't always get to see some of the things in the background that are actually preventative measures -- so listening to Nancy has a feeling of some reassurance. I'd like to feel more and hopefully will as we get nearer election time. We just got our notice to request main-in ballots. We were going to go to our polling place, but I have some concerns as to whether it will be open for sure -- or safe for sure if it is. We plan to call in and get some of our questions answered, likely request the ballots and then turn them in. Our post ofc. here sends out our mail over to St. Louis, Mo and then it comes back here for distribution. Since it goes to another state for processing -- I'm thinking we'd want to take our ballots to the county seat which is not far away from us.

One can hope. I hate to say it because usually Democrats try to be more fair, but I think it is time we become about many things as ruthless as the Reps. have always been. Good faith, style, fairness and all those positive things are tossed out the window w/o so much of a backward glance from the Reps. on their way to their power and greed. It is time to use some of that to achieve what helps us get farther. In fact we need to toughen up because IF we get there on Nov 3 or shortly thereafter there is going to be a lot to do and so we need to keep the Reps. out of our way as much as possible. We can bee firm and get the job done w/o being disgusting and dirty. We need to get pushy and definite.

Ruth looks like a winner to me. Some of the above pictured ladies were really stunning in their time in the WH. Some made marvelous changes and none were of them were what I might call a total disgrace which is what we have now. I even enjoyed Nancy Reagan. She wore her clothes well, had non-slanted ( from too many lifts ) or squinty eyes and hair always wonderfully styled.

Jackie as first lady was gorgeous as well and had great style to her WH make-overs -- beautiful china as I recall.

Michelle Obama -- just wow. I'm sure I would fine great enjoyment as well as lots of new facts about these ladies time in the WH.

Jackie, dear heart, I thought of you when I saw that Maya Angelou poem. I just had to post the fine conclusion to it. I love your Washington Irving and Allan Watts pieces...they dovetail nicely with her theme, I think.

Month after month you silently--and to me somewhat mysteriously--find these wonderful quotes and snippets and one-liners and many-liners that I picture you digging out of a trunk you've got hidden away, full of stirring and thought-provoking selections that you've collected over time. Thanks so much for all you do here to enlighten, remind, and inspire with them. And for your own words that, very often, themselves take wing. . . .

I agree Trill.... I think I have "known" Jackie ever since I came on this blog... when I was 72... I thought I was too old to get Breast Cancer! And yet, now I am 83 and feeling better than ever!

Jackie is my dearest friend, being with me ever since I started here... I was so afraid, and she helped me through the tough times! I have never even met her! But we email all the time! She is the most honest, caring person I have ever known. I think of her as my little sister.

We can talk over ANYthing, from family stuff to politics, and our everyday life, and fears.

Yes, she cares, she has empathy, and I thank God everyday for my Jackie....Heart

Betrayal: Excellent on you for doing that. I posted his remark on FB and asked my PA friends to pass it on, and email/contact him to remind him of his remark. I did that with my FL people (Marco Rubio) too. I got an automatic response from little Marco, (also from Lindsey Graham) but since I am in his state, perhaps he might really answer me. I did remind him that I will remember this when he is up for re-election. Not that I voted for him in the first place,,, or would I ever.

BlueGirlRedState: I've been working with Blue Wave down here, and sending out postcards too. Just finishing up my 80th one. There are some people that have done over 500!! However I have nerve damage in my hand, and can only write so much. I figure anything is helpful. I just volunteered to take voting materials to nursing homes and ALF's. Not sure what all is involved, should find out today, but that is with the Supervisor of Elections, so it is non-partisan,,, but it is important to get the voting materials to those folks (like my Mom down in Miami!!) so that they can vote. We have our Democratic Womens club meeting today on Zoom, so I'll see what other good trouble I can get into.

Love the Fearless Girl statue with the lace collar. LOVE!

Thanks to everyone for all the photos and memes. I steal a few and post on FB!!

The Sufi poet Rumi wrote, "Your criticism polishes my mirror." If you understand who you are and respect yourself, you will not see criticism as a problem but as an opportunity to become a better person. When you feel inadequate or imperfect, the criticism is threatening and makes you feel that you have to defend yourself. When you are secure--not perfect, but secure--you can listen to the criticism and consider its value. You can say, "I'm sorry." And "thank you for polishing my mirror," and when it is appropriate you can learn from the criticism and improve your behavior. I say when it is appropriate because there are some people who love to find fault in others. That is their problem. -Bernie Siegel
