LI great job, it's hard sometimes to show up but you always feel better when you do. Dulci boo hiss what a pain, is there another brand of diuretic without that side effect? LB sounds like you had a nice relaxing/stretching kind of day. Ruth that is encouraging news.
Tonight did a great Body Jam class.

Nats: So sorry about your friend's daughter. I'm sure that was a long, sad day for you.
Ruth: Hope your friend's dh continues to hear better news.
Dulci: I feel your frustration.Dizziness is a terrible feeling. Hope it improves.
I mowed the yard for an hour and a half. It was hot but there was a nice breeze. Then I finished getting the garden beds ready and planted our garden. Just as I was finishing it started to rain. My plan was to let Mother Nature water the garden for me.

Thanks Ann and I looked up what to eat (and when) if you have a 10k run at night - everything can be Googled.
Cheryl, I'm a rubber band.
Wonderland, you are one mowing maven.Power Step and body balance at the gym this morning.

Ruth, glad to hear the news is improving on your friend. I hope they can reschedule the trip once he is doing better. Lilacblue, enjoy your 10k run. Hope you have sunshine and gentle breezes. Wonderland, I am putting in my garden this weekend too. So glad it is warmer so I can play in the dirt.....

Today's exercise was 30 minutes on the Elliptical plus weights. Boring but serves it's purpose....
Happy Saturday ladies.

Ran a training 5K this morning in miserable humidity. Driving to Dallas tomorrow to attend a banquet honoring our oldest granddaughter who's graduating from high school at the end of the month. Hoping that Sunday morning I'll get the chance to run the 5K route for the run which is next Saturday.
Dulci, so sorry about the set back with medication. I'll be thinking about you tomorrow. All that counts is to be upright when you finish! I still run very slowly, even when I feel fine.
Mary, I was sorry to hear about your friend's daughter, and Ruth, about your friend's husband.

5k run this evening, and got caught in a downpour. Rewarded with a rainbow a bit later.
I am off in the early AM to do a metric century. Hoping the downpours stay away. If really wet, I will downsize. I am FINALLY getting faster running. I think now the best I have been in my entire life. Notice, I did not say "good" at running.
Still need to do weights (which I do while dinner is cooking). - Claire

hi all, checking in after being absent the past week. Horrendously busy at work so lots of extra hours this week. Have managed to walk my 2.5 mile route each night (except Mon for DWTS and Tues for date night) so logged 7.5 miles Weds-Fri. Haircut this morning, which I will walk to, and a 5k glow run tonight.
Mary & Ruth, so sorry to read about your friends' loved ones.
Bluetail, WTG on bike trip around Lake Ontario in July.
Claire, good luck on metric century ride (100 k = 62 mi).
LB, good luck on today's 10k run.
Lisa, glad you had a good MO visit.
Ann, this SO made me think of you. A friend of mine was stuck in traffic for 15 minutes while a train rolled through Madison. She witnessed a woman get out of her car, go to the grassy median, and hoop while waiting. LOL!
Hope everyone has a good weekend! ♥

Not a moment of exercise for me yesterday.....I did my work stuff, then had to drive into the city for an errand and after that it was supper out (sweet potato fries were soooooo yummy) and opening night of Mary Poppins at the theatre. The actor who plays "Bert" is the son of my best friend and grew up with my son....he is so talented and did an amazing job in the role. Poured rain here yesterday....and I'm pooped, but will get a good long walk in today.

Off to a good start today. Slept in a bit, puttered around the house a bit, then went for a long brisk walk with the sunshine and my ipod. About 75 minutes worth. I think I'm typically around 3.5mph so today was a good 4 miles or perhaps a bit more. My heels are complaining now, though, so I'll be doing some ibuprofen and icing very soon, then more puttering and probably some errand running.
xoxoxo

Mowed the lawn today- about 55 minutes again. Also did a little weed and sculpt. I think I have my front and side beds under control for now. It may take more than this summer to get the back in shape. Working on getting this yard pretty but lower maintenance.

Nats - I am so sorry for your loss
LI - good job dragging yourself to the gym when it was really hard
lilac - I hope you kicked a** on your 10k

Dulci - I hope you are able to sort out the dizziness so you can run the 5k you have trained so hard for
Claire - Enjoy your metric century. 62 miles is a long trip on a bike set
SS - Glad you enjoyed your walk, I hope your heels aren't too sore from it.
It has been a busy week. I got a new road bike last Saturday and rejoined the YMCA on Tuesday. Biked 16 miles Sunday, biked 6 miles on Tues, swam 1100 yds in the pool and tran 3 miles on Wed, swam 1000 yds in the pool yesterday and ran a 5k in 30 mins and 21 secs today. Week 1 of my triathlon training was good. My skin were it was radiated held up to the 2 swim sessions this week, so I am feeling hopeful about the July 19 sprint triathlon

Great job StillRunning. LB hope all went well on your run today, I friend of mine posted some pics of herself running in London this morning and weather looked nice. Badger that is too funny.
No 'formal' exercise for me today but I've been up since 5am helped my neighbor move heave stuff out of her house for garage sale, those old tv's I swear were 150lbs each, it was hard work but we got them out and they sold cause I sure didn't want to have to get them back in. Also did yard work, weeding and feeding plants and I think I may have got a little sunburn on my neck, oh well!!!

wow, stillrunning! That's awesome....triathletes are a special class of people, in my book!
claire...wondering how your bike ride went...sounds like a great goal.
dulci...sheesh...hope it gets sorted soon. However, don't be thinking all your hard cto5k work was for naught....you've become a runner, and that is now a part of you.
Got in the 5k today....up to day 2 of week 3....had to back up a bit after not running for a few weeks, but...I'm happy with where I could restart at, without a real struggle.
Hubby and I also treated ourselves to new sets of golf clubs today....and.....it's currently snowing.....there are NO WORDS!!!!!!

Woohoo!!!!
We didn't break any records, but we did it! We ran more than we walked and finished in 35 minutes. Considering the size of the crowd, the week of health issues (including running with a kidney stone that started hurting yesterday) I am very, very proud of us! We had a great time together and finished with smiles. So here we are: DD on left and I'm on the right. We wore hats to try to keep our blonde heads from being pink for Mother's Day. Lol. Thanks SO MUCH, Voices, for your sympathy and encouragement.

Awesome Dulci! Congratulations!!!!!!! (And what a great picture, you need to get it framed and hang it on the wall!).
There's words for the snow, nihahi, but they'd probably get you banned
.Cute picture, Wonderland. You and TwoHobbies compete in a Mow-a-thon!
Our good friends whom we visit every year in Arizona are back in the state (6 months there & 6 here), so we drove over & spent last evening and today with them....which is always a nice, comfortable time. We took a little walk this morning & I did a little toning when we got home tonight.

Well, here I am just after taking the night finish with 10,000 other women! What a 10k and Cheryl, the conditions in the late afternoon and night sucked, as it was cold, strong winds with intermittent rain, typical London April weather, LOL, what was I thinking?
There were very few women my age (58 and saw no one visibly older) and DH remarked that the majority were under 30 years of age. I never stopped to walk once yet my tracked time was way off at 1:12 putting me at 6,126 place. Not at all what I was hoping for (insert limp biscuit look). Myself and fellow orange wristband runners went off 8:20pm as we stood in a huge, snaking wide queue waiting for our group to start.
The walk to the race from the tube was 1 mile and quarter, so when you arrived, you were already a bit tired, the waiting around difficult in the harsh conditions and getting back to said Mile End tube station, my gait was gimpy to say the least. I was endorphinly euphoric at the finish (as you can see) and really like the race Alex Monroe/Liberty London (London's equivalent to NYC Barneys) necklace, swag bag was filled with 3 different Vitacoco flavors (coconut water cafe latte reads as revolting) a few Kiehel's samples and a pass for a free glass of Freixenet at the bar tent afterwards, and being teetotal, it went unused. We got home at 11:40pm and that includes the highspeed train back to Kent.
My poor DH, he hung in there, yet the walking to and from, including waiting around for me was hard on him and thank goodness we both have today to, rest, relax and recover. ((((Voices/Everyone)))), thank for your support.
Happy Mother's Day!,
LB, x

Congrats Dulci & LB, you ladies look great - WTG!!
The 5k was fun! Storms went south of us so we had a beautiful night for it. The runners lined up first, then the cops and their families, then us walkers. Then they said, "Run from the cops, run fast!" and off we went. I finished in 47:16 which is a bit slower than my PB but still respectable considering the amount of socializing I did LOL.
Headed home and stopped at a convenience store to get a drink. A state trooper pulled in too and there I was in a shirt with I RAN FROM THE COPS emblazoned across the back. hmmmm how thirsty am I? Not so much!
I'm headed out for a walk then Sunday Brunch with family. Happy Mothers' Day to all the moms! ♥

Goodness...I can't seem to keep up with all the amazing race/run people.....Congrats to Lilacblue and badger!!!!!
Sunny but frosty morning here. Going out for a good long walk, and then to go play with the new golf clubs. Was hoping to bikeride, but, it's a wee bit too cold for that.
Happy Mother's Day, to one and all.

Great to hear the running success stories! Congrats Dulci, Lilac and Badger on your races!
Ran in the forest with DD and DH for Mother's Day.

Hi Lilac.... Jealous about the Liberty of London bling. I got a beer glass!!! A special design for this year, but a beer glass. Want to trade? Yes, I did the metric century which totaled 64 miles.
I don't quite agree about Liberty's being the equivalent of Barney's. I don't think there is any place like it anywhere else on the planet. Fascinating history and linked to the Arts and Crafts movement of 140 years ago. The current store dates from the 1920s. Highly worth a visit. One time, about 20 years ago, I really wanted a shawl from there. I had already bought a scarf so really didn't want to spend the earth. I ended up in the fabric department and bought a remnant of very lightweight wool. Fringed it when I got home. I still wear it to major complements. And THEN, I did find a beautiful Liberty shawl about 3 years ago at the resale shop for a song. I snatched it up immediately.
The best part of my ride was being chatted up by three young Asian men at the end (spaghetti feed). None of us had trained enough, so we were comparing notes. I walked the really challenging hill, and another one towards the end. This ride kicked by butt, and I had forgotten how challenging it is. Chipped rock road surface for about two thirds of the ride, which is much harder than regular back top.
I had my doubts driving up, as drizzling to pouring down buckets the entire journey. Just light drizzle when I started out, and it cleared as the day went on. It was chilly, even though I was dressed for it. Long day, as drove 80 miles each way.
I will post a picture in another post as need to get off my mobile. Just amazing scenery for much of the ride. Saw the Samish Bay mud flats (which is why it produces amazing shellfish) and later on farmland and fields. It would be fun to go up and just tool around on my bicycle. Skip things like the 2400' of climbing, and substitute the recreation trails along the water.
This coming week is the Yakima Canyon Ride and vineyard camping. Saturday will be a ride along the Naches River and Sunday the Canyon Ride. They close it to traffic, and the scenery is amazing. I am borrowing a tent, and will use my yoga mat and old comforter to sleep (until I get this gear). Life is good. - Claire

Great to read of everyone's amazing races and rides. Lilac and Dulci I love the pictures. They are inspiring.
Happy Mother's Day all. So far I spent it getting breakfast and lying out in the sun so its been a good morning.

Picture as promised. This is looking across Samish Bay to the San Juan Islands early in the ride. (It's even prettier when the sun is out.) Trying to figure out a low stress/low energy ride of about 20 miles. I am thinking the trail at the foot of the hill or along the East Sammamish Parkway, but the dirt trail which is a lot more scenic.
One day, I have to make the Mud Run and Bivale Bash. A place to use one of those T shirts I keep collecting. - Claire

Good job Badger & Claire!
I got up and the Body Combat 49 DVD Cheryl sent me. Great workout & I might 'forget' to bring it back to her!
I don't have as vigorous a picture as the runners do, but the other day a friend and I accidently wore matching outfits to Pilates, so we took a picture. We thought it turned out pretty good, particularly since neither of us was wearing makeup....must be the glow of health....or the skill of the photographer!

0 -
I think the "glow of health". This, because I will often come in from a run or spin on my bicycle looking 30 years younger than when I set out. Now THERE'S an incentive to get moving.
Off for a ride on my hybrid. You will notice that the seat hits my anatomy a bit differently. Or, at least that's my theory. The lady parts are a bit on the tender side today. - Claire

Ruth, nice pic! It's the glow of health combined with natural beauty.
Got out for my 2.5 mile route this morning, which is good because we have rain now. Brunch was lovely and the moms (my mom and MIL) appreciated the homemade treats - peanut butter balls, coconut macaroons and classic choc chip - in a pretty gift bag.
The lawn is carpeted with violets; I love this time of year. ♥

The 11mi Hike for Life was brutal! Not at all what I expected. I had to quit a few miles before the finish because I was both exhausted and experiencing serious foot pain. My app however registered that I did13 mi, so I'm not sure if that was off, or the hike people miscalculated. The group was too fast and I had hiking boots on which killed my feet at that speed. Additionally there was a lot of pavement walking. AND, I fell in the mud at one point - which was actually kind of fun, lol. I have two serious toe injuries and many blisters on my feet. Oh well. The first half was fun, so maybe next year I will stay with the 5mi hike, and definitely wear my Nikes instead of hiking boots. Unfortunately these toe injuries will probably sideline me this week. I guess I can just focus on abs and weights for the next few days
