Ruth - Thanks for posting the lovely photos of your vacay!
Martaj - Several years ago I spent a week in Manasota Key. Good times! Where I stayed was lovely VRBO - one block in one direction was the bay and a block in the other direction was the ocean. Yoga on Manasota Beach, fun boat trip with lots of dolphin sightings. Also made several drives to Siesta Key Beach and got great seafood at Big Water Fish Market for beach picnics. Would be fun to return.

Bitter cold here. Zero but feels like -15F. Snowing lightly. Will continue the same through Thursday. Single digits for high temperatures.
I think I'm ready for the professional development. I had planned to take the bus downtown but hubby thinks I'm this weather I best drive and pay the parking garage fee. Normally when I'm downtown all day I drive and park about a mile away where it is free. Not doing that today as that is a farther walk than the bus. I may still take the bus. It’s a 10 minute walk to bus and 8 minute when I get off. The unknown is the waiting.
Ruth- awesome photos. Sounds like you are having a wonderful time. Enjoy the rest of you vacation.
Everyone stay warm and safe.

I did one last beach walk this morning and spent the afternoon at a lovely Botanical Garden this afternoon. We're up early for a full day of travel. Hopefully the highway will be open so I can get from the airport to my house (another 100 miles).

GoKale, I hope you are feeling better. It’s so frustrating when you’re ready to exercise but the body doesn’t cooperate.
Stay safe, Karen. Those temps sound brutal. Hope the PD goes well.
Safe travels, Ruth. Your trip looked like a lot of fun.
I am currently in Georgia for a week. Drove 17 hours with both daughters (27 and 30) and DD dog. We are staying in a beautiful Airbnb house on a lake that is 40 minutes from civilization. Temps are in 80’s; tomorrow is supposed to be a record high. Lots of reading, relaxing, walks, and hanging out together-priceless. We are here until Saturday morning; then we head back to colder temperatures.

Another sub zero morning. It's been snowing lightly the past couple days but not much accumulation. Need to shovel the sidewalk and driveway Might do the sidewalk and top of driveway just to get some fresh air before work Yesterday I was inside and sitting all day co-facilitating a training I think I did okay, but it's exhausting
Ruth-safe travels
Ginger- enjoy the week Sounds lovely
Stay warm and happy Wed

Ruth, your trip looks like so much fun and the photos are beautiful. I am curious, did the ocean feel warm or cold to you? I was in Florida four years ago in February and I was surprised the ocean water felt slightly warm to my feet while I was beach walking. I remember as a kid the water felt so cold in February.

Walking along the shore, the waves didn't feel cold, but where we were the ocean is too wild for swimming.....rip tides etc. I have never seen anyone swimming in this area, although sometimes there are surfers. There is a public beach with lifeguards in a nearby cove but we've never checked out. (There's a lovely pool where my friend lives if we want to swim or lounge about. )
*Sitting in rainy Atlanta waiting to board Flight #2 of 4 flights today.

2nd of 4 flights, yikes! That would test my patience.
70's today, 40's tomorrow, 70's Thursday...here we go in our struggle to get to spring!
Tai Chi at lunch today. TT

Opps, 3 flights, 4 airports.....boarding the last flight now. We have been lucky, lucky with the weather and connections this trip!

Ruth - I'm guessing that you are finally home in ND. Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Warm S. FL weather sounds lovely right now with our below zero nights and single digit days. But by Monday we will be back to the 50s.
My manager called me this afternoon - she asked me if I would consider working Fridays or some Fridays for a while. The float team is over stretched with vacancies and FMLA. I told her I would get back to her. I still have plenty of comp time from last summer, so I'd only do it for pay - but I don't want to increase my FTE. I will probably say yes, but DH isn't too thrilled. My manager asked if I would help with assessments or even with interviews. I said I would do interviews as they are done via zoom and I can do them from home. I haven't worked 5 days/week since 2008. If I do Fridays, I would work 1/2 days in the morning.
Stay warm and stay safe.

I did make it home safe and sound with no delays or problems......which is pretty much a miracle now-days! It's 16 below here this morning & I am off to Pound in a few minutes, so back to 'normal' for me.
Karen, we teacher types have a hard time saying no!

Well that is better Ruth...I don't live at a major hub so two flight is standard, three if I am going somewhere weird (Victoria B.C. was my last trip with that make up Nov 2019). Glad you are home safe.
Yoga/pilates at lunch. A "lovely" 40's and cold rain here in SE Virginia. TT

Ruth - you are so right. I will be particular what I will agree to on Fridays and only 1/2 day. I'll talk to my manager tomorrow or Monday.
TT - Victoria BC is absolutely gorgeous.
Stay safe and stay warm

I did nothing at all yesterday (except buy groceries), today I went to Yoga & dog walked in the snow.

Ruth- yesterday I walked, red and watched Mrs.Maisel last night. We all need downtime.
Yesterday we got above freezing for first time since Monday. The news said first time in 119 hours😂. This week will see 50s and 60s with sun beginning of week then partly cloudy. As long as there is some sun I won’t complain.
Need to finish getting our taxes ready for the accountant today. I plan to do my online banking, a few long walks and sit outside and read. One book is for my work book study, only one long chapter and the other strictly for pleasure.
Have a great Sunday

good bye February!
192.4 miles biked, 10.3 miles walked, and 53.5 miles rowed.

I went to Pound, spent the rest of the morning running errands. This afternoon I had a dentist appointment after which I brought Bruno to the vet for his yearly checkup, shots etc. He weighs a whopping 85.9 pounds!!!!

Barre Sculpt today. Trying to figure out this new format; not impressed so far......

NOT impressed either, Ruth. It feels cold and uninviting. Also confusing.
Ds came home for the weekend. So good to see him. He even cooked dinner for us on Saturday. Haven't been doing too much lately but I have been regularly walking. Tonight dh and I met with dd to walk/run after she got off of work. We started doing this last month. The first few times we met we needed a flashlight. We walk on a lit walking trail but there are areas that I still needed a flashlight. Not anymore bc spring is coming and the days are slowly getting longer.

Yeah, I'm not liking the look and feel of this new design as well...maybe the moderators will read our threads and see our reviews!
Tai Chi and walking to church this evening to get ashes. It will be 64 for a high today and yes Wonderland, loving the longer days. TT

Geez, it took me 3 tries and many more minutes than I wanted to spend to even get here. Not good. Here's the Wednesday Walking Women picture, I'll go to Dance2fit tonight.

Ruth - great photo.
I don't think anyone is happy with these new changes. I'm thinking of messaging the moderators. I'm wondering if they get inundated with messages they will realize that it is so difficult.
74F today - record high. Will be in 70s the next couple days then cooling off and maybe snow.
I'm spitting bullets annoyed at the admin at the middle school I"m covering. Can't wait to be done there. I know that I'm ticking off the admin by a couple emails I have sent, more or less correcting them.
Going to start making dinner - then nice walk after dinner.

68 for a high today so went for a walk to city hall at lunch to pay my water bill instead of going to my yoga/pilates class.

Another nice day today but not as much sun. It's currently 69F. Our streak of warm weather is coming to an end. Snow is in the forecast for Saturday and Sunday.
I was beyond upset and frustrated with the school administration where I'm covering. Thankfully the powers to be are supportive of what I have done and know what a mess the school admin are. My manager as well as another higher up told me how to proceed and next steps. I was thanked for speaking up! I've never done anything like this before in over 30 years in the schools, but I've never been in a situation with such disregard for protocol and putting student's first. I'm feeling better as my manager confirmed what I thought is that I have done everything ethically that I need to do and not to worry. After spring break, I'm supposed to have another assignment and will be out of there. I was talking to the SW at the school and she said I'm just doing what they've been trying to do all year. I love my position as a float and generally the assignments are great, though some schools are harder than others. At least today is my Friday. Need to do some paperwork over the week-end, but that is to get caught up.
Have a great rest of the day.

At least you will be able to get out of that school soon, Karen. I am glad that you spoke up. I feel the most sorry for the teachers & kids stuck there. The administration sets the tone for the whole school.
I went to Barre Sculpt & walked a little. It's my birthday so I mostly did fun stuff and ate a lot!!

Not sure where to start catching everyone up. Anyway, the good news is that I passed my written driving test so now have my Idaho license. I also got up skiing last Saturday with the most glorious scenery ever. Most likely the last day of perfect skiing this season. This is overlooking Lake Pend Oreille in Idaho.
alt="">The last 3 days were in Seattle as had a dentist appointment on Wednesday. Thought the easiest thing to do as I am between insurance plans. I am covered as a traveler but need to hook up with local providers. I have that call next Wednesday. Today is an oil change at my new mechanic's place recommended to me by the neighbor who has 3 Subarus between himself and his two sons, one roughly the age of Rexxie. I knew who to ask! Today's exercise will be walking the mile or so there and back.
Had fun catching up with friends. One of whom will be visiting now that he (and new girlfriend) knows there is a place that is so serious about beer that they grow their own hops and grain. You can have beers on the lawn starting in April.
The soundness of my decision to leave Seattle/Redmond was confirmed in getting to the dentist, wine bar, and back. I bussed it into Seattle from the park and ride, and then had to change in the skeevy part of town (which used to be a bustling and lovely downtown). I really didn't like the look of the large crowd hanging out (think open drug bazaar) and was grateful that my bus came immediately. I texted my friend that I was staying with about how unsavory the crowd has become. Anyway, dentist was uneventful and I bussed it back to downtown to do some shopping at Nordstrom (where you are now greeted by a Black security guard...they have to do this). Restocked everything at the cosmetics using some of my gift certificates.
Then off to the wine bar where I caught up with people including my beer drinking friend. He escorted me to the bus stop and waited with me. Grateful for the company as there had been a fatal shooting one block over where I had changed buses earlier!!! The second in one week. Businesses are leaving that area as just too dangerous for employees and patrons.
That said, I am sorry that I won't be in Seattle to hear Cheryl Serio perform in two weeks. Love her. She does Rat Pack type music and has a voice that is a cross between Judy Garland and Eartha Kitt.
After the bus ride back to the park and ride, I was greeted by the song of frogs which always makes me happy. Made my way back to my friends for more wine and a general party. Great fun, and glad that we got to catch up.
Yesterday was the 5.5 hour drive back with rain on both ends. Today is a work day as have a small project due Monday. Glad for that as well. But wow on Downtown Seattle!! I would not want to live there, and by this, I don't mean the super-expensive apartment buildings. Or the homeless. This used to be a fun place to poke around. No longer. - Claire

Let's see.....just love the redo. However, takes forever to load (Microsoft Edge), locked up. Didn't post my picture and doesn't display properly. Why wouldn't I love the new website?
Here is the picture, hopefully. - Claire

Happy Birthday Ruth! and thanks for the update and picture Claire, I had been thinking about you. glad to hear you are well and your always fun stories...though really sad about Seattle.
Happy Friday everyone, TT

Beautiful picture, Claire. Glad things are starting to come together. Even a very happy move requires lots of adjustments! My next door neighbor is putting her house on the market and moving to Arizona. I am happy for her, but sad for me as she is a good neighbor and friend to me & our dogs are best playmates/friends. I told her that she can only sell to nice people who have a big nice dog!
I had a fun birthday, lots of eating for sure. Here is what Bruno gave me for a present. Oh yes, I went to Sift & Lift today.
