Beginagain - 90s is way too hot for my blood! remind me where you live. It is predicted to be 88-90 today. And high 70s to 80s for the for seeable future! I want 60s with sun in the spring!!

My department meeting is in person this morning for the 1st time since before Covid. They have all been zoom. It will be nice seeing everyone. We can also attend via zoom, but I want the chance to be social and meet people I haven't seen for a couple years plus the newbies that I haven't met. I have two mentees, that I've only seen through the computer screen!.

    Have a great Wednesday.

Walked with the Wednesday Women this morning, will walk the dog later & go to Dance2fit tonight. We have thunderstorms rolling in tonight & chances of hail/heavy rain etc. all tomorrow. Yikes!

    Ruth - great photo

Paperwork day for me as the student I was supposed to evaluate is going to be absent today. I was planning on working at home for a couple hours then go meet the student - now I might have to drive to our ad bldg - we no longer are supposed to work from home- and I don't want to work at Starbucks all day! I'll text my team lead and she was she says.

I need to post my hanging baskets and plant my son gave me, but I'll have to do i t from my phone as it doesn't work from my computer.

    Have a wonderful Thursday

    Hi All,

A little cooler in Central Kansas today. Good workout yesterday but I am struggling today. Seems like the Anastrozole SE’s may be catching up with me. Hoping they go away. I took the grand girls to Dairy Queen with the top down last night, they were suitably impressed, lol

    I would be impressed too!

Pound and dog walking this morning. Barre Sculpt and our last Obedience School class tonight. We had an inch of rain overnight and more expected later on today.

Hi Everyone! I came back home yesterday from my trip to the mountains with my friends. The weather was absolutely perfect. Walked around a lake on a 2 mile path. Also hiked 3.5 miles up to an old lodge that was built in the early 1900s. It burned in the 20s so there wasn't much to see but it was wonderful hike in the woods - straight up the mountain and back. My friends and I ate, drank, and laughed for 3 day. And we saw a mama bear and her 2 cubs right in the backyard of our rental house!

Wonder - sounds like a wonderful time in the mountains. Hope you were inside the house when mama bear and cubs were in the yard. But it would have been nice to see. Any photos?

Had a lovely dinner tonight with my son for his birthday - we shared a steak (he ate 3/4 and I ate 1/4) and I grilled it perfectly!! I' so full! I should have taken a photo of it!! Making him oatmeal walnut chocolate cookies - we used to make a large cookie (pizza pan size) for. birthdays but no one wants it anymore. It was so nice to be able to have time alone with him. DH has been in Vancouver all week.

    3 weeks and counting!!!

    Have a great night.

Wonderland, that sounds like a great girlfriend's get-together!

Karen, sounds like you & DS had a nice birthday dinner. Good luck with the all end-of-the-year excitement. The kids here have two weeks left so the countdown is on.

We were in a tornado warning last night with buckets of rain coming down so our last Obedience Class was cancelled. I guess we will just have to keep plugging away on our own. This morning the storms were gone but it has been uber-windy all day (gusts to 65mph!). I did an indoor walking DVD & Yoga DVD when I got up. We are babysitting DS & GF's combined 3 dogs tonight, tomorrow & part of Sunday as her twin brothers are graduating from high school on Sunday & they are going down to her hometown to help her parents set up/decorate etc. for the reception following the ceremony. With 4 dogs in tow, we will have a busy couple days!!!

Ruth - it was a nice dinner with DS - we chatted more than we normally do.

Gorgeous day out today - sunny, blue sky, not too windy nor too hot.

    Have a great Friday!

Well, is it okay if I post intent to exercise? Not sure where I've shared, but I ended up neutropenic this week. And had a mysterious infection. Had blood cultures done, so I may find out, or may never find out. But crap, I thought that my neulasta injection would keep that from happening on my first treatment. Nadir was freaking nadir. Headache, fatigue, and some weird kidney-ish pain. I got started on antibiotics and they gave me a bag of fluids.

Anyhow, I felt much better yesterday, but didn't try much movement. Today I plan to run to Home Depot to pick up just a few annuals and plant them outside the window where I have my telework office. Later, I'm going to try my 30 minute walk again. I plan to wear a mask and gloves while planting to avoid any further infection risk, though I suspect I'm better enough today.

Will get new labs on Tuesday. I'm hoping that I'll recover well and that I can get through my planned treatments because I really need that risk reduction with my ugly spawn of Norman Bates tumor cells...

Yuck, sarahmaude, that sounds awful. Glad you are feeling better today. I find that if I post what I plan to do for exercise, there is a better chance that I actually do it!

I just got done picking up fallen branches and digging out dandelions.

    SarahMaude,

You have been on my mind. I’m sorry to hear that you have been feeling crappy. I hate that you are dealing with neutropenia so early in the battle. Hopefully the cultures will turn something up so you will know what caused it, might give you a heads up on what to avoid. Planting flowers always makes me feel better!

Keep us posted on how you are doing, those chemo soldiers are obviously doing their job, just maybe a little to well.

    Feel better, hugs

Well, no exercise for me yesterday. Took bags of donations to the thrift store. Helped with loading and unloading. After that had my weird throbbing pains around my kidneys return. Still no results from the blood cultures. I do think I'm better. If nothing else I'll get new labs on Tuesday.

I think I'll shoot for really small today. Walk around our cul-de-sac and see how that goes.

Gosh, if you don't get the results by tomorrow, sarahmaude, call and start bugging them!

We are in the car coming back from the graduation party for DS's GF's twin brothers. Since I ate about 5 cupcakes, I better do something when I get home!

Ruthbru, 5 cupcakes! I look forward to being able to taste sweets again. I had a cup of green tea made with matcha and grapefruit flavor. Sweetened with agave syrup, it was actually a nice treat.

It sounds like an enjoyable graduation party! Nice the twins graduated together. My girls were split into different classes in 1st grade. They kept unfairly comparing themselves, so I’m glad we did. They’ve stayed very close and are confident in following their own paths. One twin graduated a couple of weeks ago. The other has two semesters left.

I’ll be watching the patient portal tomorrow morning and will check in the afternoon if nothing. I’m on cipro, so it covers a lot. My biggest urge is making sure I’m as well as possible so I don’t have to delay or reduce my treatment on the 25th.

Went to Pound & spent most of the rest of the day cleaning the house. It was a beautiful day so we did take Bruno for a hike......something we won't be doing again for awhile. Due to all the rain & the temps warming up, a HUGE crop of woodticks have emerged. Even though we people were covered with spray containing DEET & Bruno has taken his prescription anti-tick pill, I ended up with 6 ticks, DH 12, and Bruno (who ran through the tall grass) had 18!!!!! ShockedPlus I later found a couple in the house. One crawling across the front hallway and another climbing up the wall in the kitchen! I still can feel them crawling all over me....ShockedShocked

Re-injuried my knee in my distraction of seeing I had a positive covid test...

    Devil

My husband tested positive on Saturday...I had two negative test before now positive...ugh. I was walking in circles trying to sort out how to finish off items at work, we have our graduation this weekend, when I got distracted and there you go!

I have to isolate through Friday (given when symptoms started on Sunday)...so Saturday if my symptoms dissipate, I can wear a mask and be in public, so can certify folks to graduate. Fingers crossed.

Just this week the mychart portal for my Dr no longer said I was fully vaccinated...it was 3 of 3, now it is 3 of 4...so will get my second booster asap 10-15 days after last symptoms.

Oh for goodness sakes, TT, how discouraging! I had a Happy Haircut this morning, after which I went to the grocery store and tried to buy things that are gluten-free. One of my best friends from college, her DH, and 2 dogs are passing through town and will be eating dinner at our house. They don't eat gluten (allergies), so I am scrambling. I'm not sure if I will sneak any exercise in or not.

SarahMaude - hope you are feeling better

trmtab - sorry about your knee and testing positive. DH and I have one booster and we decided tonight that we are going to get the 2nd booster sooner than later. We had our first booster the end of August 2021. I just ordered the 8 free home antigen tests. The local station doctor who is a cardiologist said anyone over 65 should consider themselves high risk regardless of any other underlying conditions - to get 2nd booster, test at home before travel and as soon as have symptoms start the covid meds.

Ruth - I don't miss tick season - stay healthy

We booked our flights to see our girls. Had. to play around with dates to get a decent fare. We had travel vouchers from our cancelled trip in December - I tried to book our tickets together but it would only let us use one voucher - so I got on two computers to book them simultaneously.

Just over 2 weeks of school!! I bought my intern a gift on etsy and I hope it comes before Monday as we meet on Mondays and this coming Monday is our last Monday. If it doesn't come in time, I just bring to her at her school the end of next week as it should arrive by then.

Thursday it is supposed to be 88 and Friday 49!! Mountains and foothills might get snow. I hope we get rain as we need the moisture.

I’m getting better! Talked to MO nurse who said labs showed great recovery with white blood counts. I’ve got a productive cough, really strange since I skipped most normal early cold symptoms. Must have been a thing with the chemo nadir. They said to take mucinex DM and call if I have fever.

I may try walking around our circle tonight. Missing my walks, but don’t want to cough more than I already am.

Today the Wednesday Walking Women headed to the little, tiny town where one of our members was born. She gave us a walking tour, we ate a the local restaurant, checked out the enormous farming operation of one of her relatives, bought some meat/buns/cookies etc from a small local deli. Lots of fun. I went to Dance2fit tonight.

In the spirit of posting my daily exercise, my activities so far this week are:

    • Met up with an old cycling friend of mine and his lady for a cycle into Coeur d'Alene for lunch two days ago and then tea at my place. For entertainment, we decided to put up my dining table, but alas the glass top was completely shattered Shocked Wayfair is sending a new top, but what a bummer.
    • Lots of bending exercise cleaning up that unholy mess and getting it up the stairs to my car. Amazingly, we are still friends.
    • Yesterday was a dump run with guess what? and then a very windy walk. I also made a huge batch of Rillettes de Tours to take to the vineyard and which should be enough for everyone.
    • Today, I am off to the vineyard with Wine Club Party this evening. I will be helping set up. Hope to walk the vineyard too. No camping this year as they cut down the camping orchard. Glad as it's snowing in the Cascades today and still generally nippy out. (I am still wearing winter clothes.)
    • Tomorrow, I am doing some helping out but plan is to cycle the Naches River Valley and see the masses of yellow irises which bloom this year.
    • Saturday is a day of labor cleaning up and stocking wine. Much of the help is from Northwest U, students of osteopathic medicine. Very helpful and polite and a joy to work with. Though hope to hike the Cowiche Canyon in the AM.
    • Sunday is the Yakima Canyon ride. I must take a check to pay as no wifi in the Canyon.
    • Back home Monday as will need to rest up.
Feel tons better Sarah Maude! - Claire

Wow Claire, that is quite a catch up! ...and still wearing winter clothes, wow.

In SE Virginia we are heading into an unseasonably warm weekend...97 Fri/Sat...which are our graduation days. Academic regalia and 90's don't mix well. We can have more folks attend if outside, but fainting grandmothers is something I can live without! But moving inside doesn't seem to be in the cards yet.

Sunday is my mother's 87th birthday...she has been calling herself 87 since the turn of the year, now she can own it

    You are busy, Claire!

Happy Birthday to your mom, TT!

It is raining here again (sigh). I will go to Barre Sculpt tonight & maybe stay for part of Zumba. I am meeting some friends at the cinema to watch the new Downton Abby movie after that.

Snow in the forecast for Friday and Saturday. It got to 90 today and at 7:06 its still 84. By tomorrow it will be in the 40s. I will bring in my 2 petunia hanging baskets and the plant my son bought me for my birthday that I planted in a pot for the garden fountain. We generally wait till Memorial Day to plant. This year DH wants to plant ground cover in the fountain garden and petunias but just not as many flowers so in the winter there is something besides dirt.

Trntab - happy birthday to your mother. My late mother's birthday was in October. In January, she would start saying, I'm going to be X. It's a Canadian thing to say I'm going to be Y. My SIL does it all the time!!! Last week my DH was in Vancouver for work and one of his accounts asked how old DH is and DH said I'm going to be 67!!! The guy got a good laugh out of it, not knowing my DH has Canadian family through me and now our DD#1.

Claire - busy week - sounds like a lot of fun.

Two weeks - it is going to drag, yet go so quickly. I have so much work to finish before the end of the year. I have 2 comp days left and want to use them. I think I'll take the next 2 Thursdays off - DH gets annoyed when he thinks I'm not getting to use the time as how hard I worked last June parts of the rest of the summer.

DH and I are going to get our second booster. Pfizer for the 1st three, so going to get the Moderna. We keep hearing too many doctors on the news saying, over 60, over should get the second booster. Hoping for no side effects. DH had side effects with the others and each vaccine, the reaction was worse.

    Sweet dreams.
