My basement is now finished and I'm slowing bringing things back in. Getting rid of things as I go along.

    Walked/ran this afternoon.

Barre Sculpt and Zumba. My family room is done too and I'm putting some stick- on- tiles in the furnace/laundry room you get into through a door in the family room. One thing leads to another!

Hope this tread stays active. Hard to sometimes find it thanks to this ridiculous mess that BCO has created. I read the thread "Post your tech glitches, errors, etc" and it's very informative about all the issues that have occurred since the switchover to the so-called new and improved discussion board. No timeline when things will improve. Told we have to live with this until they have a new platform but don't say when that will be. I consider all of you friends and don't want to lose this form of communication. What a disappointing mess.

Homemom: 90 degrees is hot for Easter! We hit the 80s today and may reach 90 on Monday. Ugh!

    Ruth: I want your snow!

    Walked/ran this evening.

I agree that this whole 'upgrade' is a mess. It is very frustrating & sad as this is one of my happy places!

We had thunder, lightening & pouring rain most of the day. I spent most of the day laying tile in the laundry room. It certainly doesn't look perfect but better than seeing a cement floor when the door happens to be open. Tomorrow I need to go back and get things arranged again. During a short break in the rain, we went on a door walk. More rain, some heavy, tomorrow & Sunday it switches to snow. What a spring!

Perhaps BCO could poach a volunteer from Amazon who, for some reason, have figured out that you don't want to discourage consumers from parting with their money. My next purchase will be a window squeegee. One of the benefits of having a place on the ground floor is being able to easily clean your windows regularly.

We finally have glorious weather. Yesterday afternoon, I cycled 6.5 miles each way to a birthday celebration for the microbrewery that is celebrating its 6th Anniversary this weekend. They also have an amazing pizza food truck, supervised by the largest Labradoodle I have ever seen. A bit on the chubby side, but super friendly.

Today, I am cycling the Centennial Trail to its end point, about 12 miles from here. Most of the route is along the river and lake. I think I will stop off at Hudson's Hamburgers, a place that a friend informs me is a "must do" experience for a cheap lunch. I may stop off at the bike shop to try their "refreshments" area as well.

Because my right knee is still talking to me from last weekend's exploits, I am slathering up with Voltaren. The good news is that I am starting to look and feel a lot fitter. (There is hope.)

Yesterday, I got to use my new patio table as it was warm enough to have lunch outside. So fun. I can't wait to have my flowers and herbs going which will be in a couple of weeks. The French onion soup that I made from scratch was really good as well.

Right now, I think I will get my pea soup going. Funny story: I had to go to the bulk foods section of the supermarket as they were out of packaged green peas. Suspect that I wasn't the only one with the soup idea for using up the Easter ham!

Chop, chop, chop.....which I understand is a wonderful upper body workout Winking

    Happy weekend! - Claire

Sounds like you had a fun day planned, Claire!

I went to Yoga Stretch this morning & back to work with my house projects. Bruno & I went for a quick walk between the thunderstorms. Here is what my whole state is dealing with at the moment. Mother Nature has gone nuts

Only 2 page behind - will have to read later.

I saw I haven't been on since the 12th - day DD#2 arrived. DD#1 left this morning. We had fun girl time. DD#2 and I went to Garden of the Gods on Monday, DD#1 arrived Tuesday and we went shopping, Wednesday to a wildlife preserve near us and Thursday to the Botantical. Gardens. I had comp time so took 3.5 days off work - still have 2 more days comp time to use before the end of the year. DD#2 leaves tomorrow afternoon. The school I'm covering has a comp day tomorrow, so I'll get lots of much needed paperwork done at home and I get to take her to the airport Heart

Going for a walk with DH, then finish putting my Passover stuff away in the crawl space.

Have a great rest of the day.

Ruth: That weather map is NUTS! And scary. Yikes!

Karen: Good to read about the mother/daughters time you have had! I know they loved having their Mama time with you.

Hi All. Been working in the basement today. I painted a small and very old picnic table that was in the house when we moved here. It's in the laundry area to hold detergent, etc. I took off the cloth that covers it to replace it and decided to go ahead and paint the thing. When the paint dries I will cover it with a new clean cloth.

The basement work actually started in March 2021 when we had a drainage system installed because every time it rained hard the basement flooded. To do this, a wall had to be removed and the workshop area and a huge cabinet emptied. All that stuff was stored in the garage or pushed to the side in the basement. But we couldn't get anyone to come finish the other work that was needed until this March. So the stuff that was haphazardly placed in the garage has been there for a year......with all the other garage stuff. Needless to say, it's been a mess for a year!

I love the basement now. The wall is back up and as an added bonus we decided to have a new floor installed. This "putting away/getting rid of stuff" process is going to take a long time but will be worth it in the end!

Before and after pictures of the same corner. The blue worn out couch will be disposed of shortly.

Karen, so glad for your mom & daughter time!

Wonderland, what a difference! It doesn't look like the same space. I didn't do as much work as you, but LOVE the updated look of my family room area too. I finished up my tiling project in the laundry room & forced DH to organize his tools, so that area looks a lot better too. We also went through closets & I have 4 huge bags full of clothes to take over to a charity we support. I am taking advantage of the bad weather to get indoor things done! I went to Reset Yoga & danced around with Marshall Fitness in my living room yesterday. The winds were gusting to 50 mph & it was so raw that we skipped our dog training walk. We have to go out today no matter what. (The snow/rain has stopped for now but it is still cold & many places are dealing with flooding.) I am off to Pound in a few minutes.

I had a successful week last week walking. My Apple Watch says I had a 7 day streak. I listened to a Queen playlist a couple of days and relived my high school years. Then I found the Rotten Melons podcast and heard them talk all about pooping and menopause for a couple more sessions

I skipped yesterday and sulked after finding out I’ll need chemo. At the MO now. I’m starting next week. (Wednesday)

I’ll hit my sidewalk again today. Pre-habilitation is the name of my game for the next 7 days. Then I need to keep moving as much as I can through treatment (TCx4)

This seems like an encouraging place, and I need encouragement.

Welcome Sarahmaude, glad you found your way over here! Keeping moving during chemo is very, very helpful both to help you get through treatment and to help you bounce back faster once it's done!

I took my dog out for his training walk this morning (it was a not-very-springlike 28 degrees). We will go for a hike with our neighbor & her dog later this afternoon & then Barre Sculpt. I am now down to the basement to try to consolidate some old photo albums.

Well, I would like to report that daily walk as much as possible( Approx 5miles) helped me quite a bit after simple mastectomy last week. Less than two handfuls of Tylenol and Tramadol combined.. having a cabin fever so I walked about 10,000 steps. I got yelled at by nurses. Hubby got mad and demanded no walk. Guess I need to stay put until post op appt in two weeks.

Good for you, Castigame! Maybe walk, but closer to home (around & around the block might make DH less worried). Here's a now funny story (not funny then). After I had a hysterectomy, since I couldn't do any other exercise, I was walking like crazy. I was walking over a bridge in a park, not very near my home. Apparently some hornets had made a nest under that bridge because they swarmed out and were stinging me all around my ankles!! Well, I was jumping around screaming (a no-no after that surgery) and had to limp my way home (I must not have had my phone with me....another stupid move). That was the only time I took one of the prescribed pain pills. Yikes!!!

Big day today! Got my official OncoType Dx report. Scheduled my chemo treatments through June. Accidentally left the treatment center, remembered I still needed my Prolia injection, got that. (Extra steps!) Then I ran by the dry ice location to see about that. Found out just by going online and setting up an account, I can save about 40% off my 50 lbs per treatment. I came home, ordered my Penguin cold capping kit, and worked (telework) for the next 7 hours. Lunch was a handful of mixed nuts and yogurt.

Made some leftovers for my daughter and me. Then I walked 2 miles. I cringed when I read about RuthBru’s outdoor temperature. It was about 62 degrees when I left for my walk tonight. Cool enough for long sleeves, but really pleasant.

I don’t know how you guys are walking 5 miles a day during the week. Overall I’m at around 7000 steps for the day, and for me, right now, it’s good. Now to cool off and prep for tomorrow. I’m going to an in person meeting at my customer site where I have my office (government contractor) for the first time in 25 months! I’m excited. Now, if my big day and many accomplishments are just enough to help me sleep soon.

Welcome Sarahmaude and castigame. Glad you found us. I use my Cubii in the morning for an hour before work - I'm up early as I don't sleep well. Then I try to walk for at least 15-20 minutes during the work day. DH and I walk when I get home and after dinner. I strive for 15K/day. Today I went out after work with my teammates so just made 11K - about half of what I did last week when I took the week off to spend with my kids. The house is now quiet as the girls are back in their respective cities. DS lives by us. I don't enjoy the gym, exercise classes or equipment. I keep saying I need to do exercises for the core, but I never do. For a period of time, I was using 2-3# hand weights but stopped when I developed tennis elbow and never resumed.

I want to post pictures here, but for some reason, even when I back up my phone, most of the pictures don't show up to post here. Oh well.

    Have a good week.

Hi all, still rehabbing my knee from my unfortunate accident on April 3rd. After two weeks completely at home have returned to school 4-6 hrs a day...and have been told I am overdoing it!

Karen...I am intrigued (again) by your Cubii...there seem to be many styles, which is yours? It seems like half of my office is exercise equipment and given what I do at PT, having a cubii might be a good addition.

We are definitely in spring here in SE Virginia...we actually had a high of 90 on Sunday for a whole 15 minutes....but mainly bouncing from mid/high 60's to high 70's/low 80's.

1.5 more weeks of school before finals begin! TT

It was 28 degrees here this morning (with the windchill it felt like 16). Three of the bravest Wednesday Walking Women bundled up at walked outside, the rest of us walked around & around the track for what seems like the millionth week in a row. A dog training walk and Dance2fit are in my plans later today.

karen1956, I’d never heard of a cubii. I looked it up and it’s pretty interesting. I used to think that all offices should have devices like that to access the internet. It’s good that you are able to wake up and spend time pedaling! Great way to start the day.

Ruthbru, your scenery is beautiful. So different from here. We are in the full bloom of spring and it’s lush and green. Beautiful dogs.

sarahmaude: Welcome! Wishing you best during your chemo time. Moving during it really does help mentally and physically. Please keep us informed with your Penguin cap experience. I don't know anyone personally who used it and I'm fascinated by it.

castigame: Sorry you were yelled at for being active too soon after your surgery. Sounds like your surgery went so well you were itching to go!

TT: Goodness, you really did a number on your knee. Thankfully school will be over soon and give you more time for recuperating it.

Karen: I'm sure you're missing your dds.

Ruth: Great WWW picture. 28 degrees! Goodness. I know you'll miss your neighbor but I worry more for Bruno. His gf will be moving.

Went for my walk this afternoon. Had to quit with 1/2 mile more to go bc I started wheezing. Wasn't going to get any better so I stopped. Pretty sure it's from pollen. Very windy today and lots of it still in the air. We need a good soaking rain to help control it some.

Here's a picture from the trail we wandered around on yesterday. Yes, Wonderland, I feel sorry for Bruno as the first thing he does when he gets up in the morning is to look over to see if Ivy is out in her yard. I feel more sorry for her though; think of being a dog moving to Arizona in June! Boiling hot & where can you go to run free without worrying about cacti, scorpions, poisonous snakes etc.?

I am going to Pound this morning, Barre Sculpt, and we have another session of Doggie Obedience School tonight.

    good morning all,

I took Rocky for a 3 miler this morning. About a mile of it jogging. He’s tired out now.Running after the DMX is definitely a lot more comfortable, lol. Tornados last night not far away and a dust storm here at my house was an interesting evening. image

I thought we don’t talk about Bruno? Sorry, lol. Unless you have been tortured with the music from “Encanto” for the last couple of months, you might not get that. Beautiful trail

LOL! Yes, I get it. It is hard to not to talk about Bruno, when you have a Bruno! LoopyIt looks like Rocky is a Boxer. My son has a lovely Boxer/Husky mix (the result of an accidental pregnancy, a frisky make Husky jumped a fence!). She is a great dog!

Karen, another one of your 'Colorado Lows' is wreeking havoc here again. It poured down rain all yesterday, and is predicted to go through sometime tomorrow. It's in the 30s so it is a cold, nasty rain (accompanied by some overland flooding). What a spring! Yesterday Bruno & I went out for his training walk right away in the morning (which neither of us enjoyed as it had already started raining). I'm off to Pound in a few minutes. If the rain lets up, we will take a walk later.

Ruthbru, what is Pound? Is it exercise? An animal shelter? A sand box? A junkyard for all the weight we aren’t gaining?

And please feel free to talk about Bruno as much as your heart desires. My two dogs are boxer mixes Unknown origins. I’m also taking care of one of my daughter’s dogs who just had knee surgery. He is doing great. This boy is a warrior. Last September he almost died. Found out he was bleeding around his heart. High chance it was a hemangiosarcoma which would have been a very poor outcome. Turned out he had ectopic thyroid cancer. He has completely recovered. I only hope to stay as determined as he is. Right now he is sleeping on the couch near mine.

    image

All, I’ve kept up with my walking and remembered to wear my Apple Watch more which counts all my zooming around the house up and down stairs. It’s encouraging when I double my move goal without trying.

My pace dropped a little, and I realized that my second shingles shot was hitting me harder than the first. Arm hurts, joints a little achy. But moving helps.

We have our hometown arts festival this weekend. Music, dance performance, paintings, etc. It surrounds our Big Spring park and is a great way to get out and move. I think today is going to be a great day
