24 hours!! Of course DD#2 hasn't even left yet - her flight is in 5 hours. She should be getting the cab shortly. They are recommending getting to the airport 4 hours before the flight as lines are long for security, check-in etc. Can't wait for my hug!!!
Not getting as many steps at work as this elementary school is way smaller than a 1920s middle school.
Ruth - no snow!!! Stay safe

sarahmaude: Music is such a good motivator!
Ruth: Good grief! So much snow! Glad you got your errands done.
homemom: wtg with keeping your Realtor business going. It's definitely a sellers market now. Too many buyers and not enough houses for sale. People are paying way over the asking price.
Karen: I'm so excited for you! I feel your love overflowing.
Workers started putting down the new basement floor this afternoon. It's looking so nice!
Walked/ran late this evening.

Just a walk today in the very blustery weather with intermittent snow squalls. But no major snowfall.
Saturday was quite the adventure. I thought that a morning hike followed by the Wine Extravaganza would be the perfect balance between virtue and guilty pleasure. The hike was one close by in Post Falls, on the other side of the river from the dam. Glorious hiking trails, including rock climbing. That should have been a clue.
I had looked at the trail map and one learning is that circles and diamonds don't necessarily have the same meaning as they do with Nordic trails (circles being easy; squares being intermediate; diamonds being expert). Therefore, I assumed that the circles meant a nice stroll in the woods…… But no! I got to climb down ledges too, just a notch in the cliff and very steep trail. It was not pretty, but I made it!
I got back just in time to change for the Wine Extravaganza which featured shops in Downtown Coeur D'Alene, and which oddly enough, I hadn't really explored. Not that much great wine, but I did learn about a couple that I didn't know, and I got to scope out the shopping, not that I need additional ways to part with my money.
The big find was the olive oil place which I did know about but had never visited. All manner of reasonably priced, top-quality items and a host of flavored olive oils and vinegars many of which I got to taste. I am set for flavorings between this shop and the spices and tea shop down the road from where I live. (Though my first stop is WinCo who are very well stocked in their bulk foods section.) I also got to taste a sample of a divine macaroon at a pastry shop who have cannoli! I don't think I have had a good one since I left NY so I will definitely be back.
Chilly week ahead with more snow squalls and wind. And I must figure out the flowerpots so I can get them onto the patio and out of my dining area. My understanding is that the Easter Bunny will be arriving with a cordless drill in lieu of candy and flowers.
I will return to do more of the trails which I want to do before the trees leaf back out and they charge for parking!
And before a lot of people get to witness that less-than-elegant climb down the steep section of the trail. Happy almost Easter! - Claire

Claire: Yikes! Glad you made it down the cliff in one piece!
Saw my first butterfly today. Dh said he saw his first one 3 weeks ago.
Attended the monthly program at our library called Lunch Time True Crime. It's my 2nd time going. Today we discussed a murder that happened on the Outer Banks, NC in 1967. It's a cold case and most people involved are now deceased so the discussion was all speculation.
Walked/ran this afternoon.

Also glad you made it down the steep trail, Claire!
We are in Day One of a 3 day blizzard. If you have watched the news, you have probably seen the pictures.. I've shoveled 3 times so far & might put on a toning DVD. My exercise center is open for now, but all the classes have been canceled for tonight as well as the early ones tomorrow.....probably more cancellations to come. The interstate is closed to the Montana border 250 miles away. Fun, fun.

My goodness, Ruth! Stay safe and warm!

Our exercise center opened at 10:00 so those of us Wednesday Walking Women who could get shoveled out made our way over for our walk. (We walked inside despite the picture.) The storm system is wrapping around and returning tomorrow. We have about 8 inches so far.

Love the snowy Easter WWW photo Ruth!
I've been out of action since Monday with all 3 of us having Covid. Our 1st. time with this and today feeling a bit better. Today looks and feels like spring - grateful for that.

Holy, Moly, Ruth-stay safe!
Karen- hope your DD made it and you’re enjoying your time together.
Wonderland- I am so ready for that warmer weather!
LB- so sorry Covid caught you. I hope you all are feeling better soon. I also just got it for the first time. It hit me hard and 6 days later the fever and aches are dwindling only leaving me with congestion, loosening cough and feeling super weak. Since school break starts tomorrow I will have a chance to build strength back.

So sorry about your Covid news, Lilac. Hopefully you will all have mild cases. Glad you get a school break to rest up, Ginger.
I went to Dance2fit last night & am glad I did. As predicted by the meteorologists, the storm wrapped around and is hitting us again. Everything is shut down.....geez. I did a 45 minute indoor walking DVD & 30 minutes of pilates. I touched up another wall in the downstairs & am now cleaning my neglected main floor.

I am super stoked because my new sofa came this morning. Just perfect! Also attaching a few pictures from my recent adventures. Hoping to sneak in a run later as behind on the exercise quotient. - Claire
New sofa.

The infamous hike. I made it down that steep trail...notch in the cliffs.

The Spokane River with power plant in the distance. Part of the same hike.

Public swimming beach on Lake Coeur d'Alene.

Wetlands hike from 2 weeks ago. Still as much snow on those mountains.

From the top of Mineral Ridge. I live down the river at the far right end of the lake.

Very nice, Claire!
At least somebody around here is enjoying the snow!

A dog walk in the snow, cleaned the house, groceries, errands and a 15 minute ab workout.

LB: Oh no! Sorry you and your family have covid! Hoping it's mild for all of you.
Claire: Nice sofa and pretty pictures.
Ruth: Bruno is happy to have another snow day.
Hi All. Walked/ran this afternoon after grocery shopping for Sunday. Tomorrow dh and I are going to see Hamilton. Can't wait!
On a side note, we all know how horrible this site has become. Now my diagnosis has been wrongly changed from HER2- to HER2+ all by itself. It's happened to of many of us on this thread. What a mess BCO has become.
0 -
I hadn't even looked at my diagnosis, Alice, but it has me as HER2+ also. What the heck?! I am going over to the 'complain about glitches' thread and complain (if I can get there.....this is getting extremely frustrating
). I will do that right now. Then I head for PiYo and Zumba. We are babysitting DS & GF's three dogs the rest of the day so I am pretty sure I won't get anything else done after they show up!0 -
Claire, what a beautiful home you have. I love your new sofa. I looks so comfortable and is such a rich color. It really compliments your decor.
Lilac and Ginger, I hope you both recover from Covid without any lingering issues. This sure is a nasty virus that just won't let up. Ugh.

Today DH and I walked 3 miles and then I went down to Lake Eola Park for the farmer's market and the international food truck festival. Met with a friend to have lunch at a Hawaiian restaurant called 808 in Thornton Park. Overall I walked about 14,000 steps, 6.3 miles. And it was 90 here for the high, so that was killler.

Thank you everyone for the compliments on the sofa. Believe me, I have been testing it. Right now, I have a mini ham in the oven and just doctored some cranberries in port wine to be more like a Cumberland sauce. Vegetables galore.
Today, I went back to do the hike once again, this time forewarned. I used my ASSets to get down the steep parts and had a glorious time. Chilly as only in the low 40s so I wore a parka, hat and gloves. Stopped and had an IPA at the microbrewery across the river on the way back.
Sliding down on my backside also meant that my upper body got quite the workout. I looked up at the rock climbers and shook my head. No way!
I need to whip some cream to top the dessert experiment I am trying. I baked a couple of pieces of puff pastry that I will top with a good dollop of passionfruit curd that I have in the larder. Then, on the side, a dollop of chestnut cream that I need to use and some raspberries I have in the fridge. I think this will be divine, but there is always the chance that nowhere as good as I imagine.
If not, I can always move on to the Lindt chocolate truffles that the Easter Bunny brought me along with my cordless drill. So I am covered. (That is, if I survive the scent of the cooking ham.)
Happy Easter everyone! - Claire

We went to a very nice Easter Brunch, after shoveling 4 more inches of snow & creeping down the icy streets. This is getting discouraging. We did walk the dog yesterday afternoon & I danced around with Marshall Fitness on Utube. I plan on going to Pound today & doing errands. The family room touch up is nearly done. Now we are reorganizing what was a 'catch-all' room & I think I will put some stick-on tile down in the furance/laundry room. If it is rotten out, I might as well catch up on indoor projects.

My basement is now finished and I'm slowing bringing things back in. Getting rid of things as I go along.
Walked/ran this afternoon.

Barre Sculpt and Zumba. My family room is done too and I'm putting some stick- on- tiles in the furnace/laundry room you get into through a door in the family room. One thing leads to another!

Here's the Wednesday Walking Women. The weather is still keeping us inside. Dance2fit tonight. 0 -
It was 90 here on Easter. There was an International Food Truck Festival at the park, but we wimped out and didn't stay long. Back to the A/C!!
Tomorrow is Barre, this morning we did our 3 mile wallk

Pound this morning. Obedience School tonight. A three day rain/snow event is predicted for the weekend.....Argh!

Hope this tread stays active. Hard to sometimes find it thanks to this ridiculous mess that BCO has created. I read the thread "Post your tech glitches, errors, etc" and it's very informative about all the issues that have occurred since the switchover to the so-called new and improved discussion board. No timeline when things will improve. Told we have to live with this until they have a new platform but don't say when that will be. I consider all of you friends and don't want to lose this form of communication. What a disappointing mess.
Homemom: 90 degrees is hot for Easter! We hit the 80s today and may reach 90 on Monday. Ugh!
Ruth: I want your snow!
Walked/ran this evening.

I agree that this whole 'upgrade' is a mess. It is very frustrating & sad as this is one of my happy places!
We had thunder, lightening & pouring rain most of the day. I spent most of the day laying tile in the laundry room. It certainly doesn't look perfect but better than seeing a cement floor when the door happens to be open. Tomorrow I need to go back and get things arranged again. During a short break in the rain, we went on a door walk. More rain, some heavy, tomorrow & Sunday it switches to snow. What a spring!

Perhaps BCO could poach a volunteer from Amazon who, for some reason, have figured out that you don't want to discourage consumers from parting with their money. My next purchase will be a window squeegee. One of the benefits of having a place on the ground floor is being able to easily clean your windows regularly.
We finally have glorious weather. Yesterday afternoon, I cycled 6.5 miles each way to a birthday celebration for the microbrewery that is celebrating its 6th Anniversary this weekend. They also have an amazing pizza food truck, supervised by the largest Labradoodle I have ever seen. A bit on the chubby side, but super friendly.
Today, I am cycling the Centennial Trail to its end point, about 12 miles from here. Most of the route is along the river and lake. I think I will stop off at Hudson's Hamburgers, a place that a friend informs me is a "must do" experience for a cheap lunch. I may stop off at the bike shop to try their "refreshments" area as well.
Because my right knee is still talking to me from last weekend's exploits, I am slathering up with Voltaren. The good news is that I am starting to look and feel a lot fitter. (There is hope.)
Yesterday, I got to use my new patio table as it was warm enough to have lunch outside. So fun. I can't wait to have my flowers and herbs going which will be in a couple of weeks. The French onion soup that I made from scratch was really good as well.
Right now, I think I will get my pea soup going. Funny story: I had to go to the bulk foods section of the supermarket as they were out of packaged green peas. Suspect that I wasn't the only one with the soup idea for using up the Easter ham!
Chop, chop, chop.....which I understand is a wonderful upper body workout

Happy weekend! - Claire

Sounds like you had a fun day planned, Claire!
I went to Yoga Stretch this morning & back to work with my house projects. Bruno & I went for a quick walk between the thunderstorms. Here is what my whole state is dealing with at the moment. Mother Nature has gone nuts

Only 2 page behind - will have to read later.
I saw I haven't been on since the 12th - day DD#2 arrived. DD#1 left this morning. We had fun girl time. DD#2 and I went to Garden of the Gods on Monday, DD#1 arrived Tuesday and we went shopping, Wednesday to a wildlife preserve near us and Thursday to the Botantical. Gardens. I had comp time so took 3.5 days off work - still have 2 more days comp time to use before the end of the year. DD#2 leaves tomorrow afternoon. The school I'm covering has a comp day tomorrow, so I'll get lots of much needed paperwork done at home and I get to take her to the airport

Going for a walk with DH, then finish putting my Passover stuff away in the crawl space.
Have a great rest of the day.

Ruth: That weather map is NUTS! And scary. Yikes!
Karen: Good to read about the mother/daughters time you have had! I know they loved having their Mama time with you.
Hi All. Been working in the basement today. I painted a small and very old picnic table that was in the house when we moved here. It's in the laundry area to hold detergent, etc. I took off the cloth that covers it to replace it and decided to go ahead and paint the thing. When the paint dries I will cover it with a new clean cloth.
The basement work actually started in March 2021 when we had a drainage system installed because every time it rained hard the basement flooded. To do this, a wall had to be removed and the workshop area and a huge cabinet emptied. All that stuff was stored in the garage or pushed to the side in the basement. But we couldn't get anyone to come finish the other work that was needed until this March. So the stuff that was haphazardly placed in the garage has been there for a year......with all the other garage stuff. Needless to say, it's been a mess for a year!
I love the basement now. The wall is back up and as an added bonus we decided to have a new floor installed. This "putting away/getting rid of stuff" process is going to take a long time but will be worth it in the end!
Before and after pictures of the same corner. The blue worn out couch will be disposed of shortly.
