Ruth, what a gorgeous place to hike. Doesn't it feel great to walk in nature with such beauty all around you like that? What a great exercise day!

Dd and I went to the baker this morning to pick out desserts for her wedding on October 1 (almost a month away!). She only wanted a small cake for the 2 of them. We decided on apple cider cupcakes, cookies and cream cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies, brownies, and pumpkin gooey bars for the guests. I'm gaining weight just typing this!

Ruth: Planning a wedding is a lot of work! Lots of details. Have your ds and future dil started any planning?

Finally walked today. It felt so good!

Had my annual audiological this afternoon. Slight changes, but things are relatively stable. My hearing aids are 5 years old so I need to get new ones. I go to Costco and they do a thorough evaluation but because of the difference in my 2 ears, I have to be seen by a doctor to rule out any problems. I've had a hearing loss in right ear all my life (or at least since 5 or 6) but it has gotten worse and left ear has declined. I commented that my hearing as gotten worse with age and due to chemo and he confirmed the side effect of chemo. We talked about cochlear implants but he doesn't think I'm a candidate. Even with my HAs, I miss stuff or don't hear correctly - on the phone today, someone told me their name, - I thought she said "Missy" but it was "Nicky". So need to schedule appointment with ENT.

Wonder - my DD#1 was only engaged for 3 months, so not too long to plan the wedding but all turned out well - she was a beautiful bride and we all had a fun time. Those deserts sound yummy. My DD didn't want a wedding cake.

Long day at work today, even though it was my regular 8 hour day - spent at least half my day with a challenging kiddo.

    Ruth - pretty scenery.

    Sweet dreams.

Pretty scenery always makes a walk/hike even more fun, doesn't it?! And I am a believer that spending some time outside every day (unless the weather is too horrible) is good for one's mental health as well.

Karen, my aunt, who had cochlear implants, has very mixed feeling about them.

DS & fiance just want a small cake to cut & have the rest be cupcakes, so it must be the trend (Wonderland, save me an apple cider cupcake!). They are getting this & that in place. The bridesmaids dresses will be emerald green. I believe maybe peach will be one of the accent colors. Suit color (gray) & ties are picked out. A couple who are good friends of theirs just got married & have sold them a bunch of their decorations etc. Our spare room in the basement is turning into a Wedding Room! Since they have so much time, they are having fun with it (so far anyway).

Yesterday was busy! The Wednesday Walking Women had a nice walk in a wooded area. Then DH's cousin, who lives in Montana but was home for a class reunion, stopped by on his way through town for a visit. The second he left, we went car shopping. We have been looking to trade in my car for quite awhile (it's old & has so many problems that it's not worth putting any more money into it). We were looking for a sub-compact SUV (Dog Car). Four hours later & having driven several models, we ended up with a 2022 Buick Encore. We don't get a new car very often (try once a decade), so it is pretty exciting to us! I am off to Pound in a couple minutes, Dance2fit tonight.

    Hi Everyone!

Getting used to the new site. Today is my birthday, and started out with a nice row in beautiful weather on the Connecticut River with great people. So a nice way to start the day. A couple old friends are coming over for a casual supper on the deck, then perhaps a wee walk in the woods. DH made excuses not to row this morning so he could stay home and bake me a cake. Double chocolate, of course! One of the bald eagles was hunting the banks of the river this morning. Thursday evening a great blue heron did a nice loop around us showing off his beauty!

I broke a toe rather badly in June, and it still isn't quite healed. So much for keeping up my training after the Bolder Boulder on Memorial Day! Haven't been able to hike or even bike most of the summer, much less run. But think I can get back to some light hikes now (NotAsCalm: Does the hill up from the dock count as a hike??? Some days it sure feels like one!).

The week ahead looks potentially kind of wet, but given our drought (our pond is now down about 5 feet!) we sure need whatever we can get.

    Hope everyone is well!

Happy Birthday, yesiamadragon!!!! Making a birthday cake is definitely a good excuse to skip exercise! Sounds like a very fun day.

We took two dog hikes yesterday and another one this morning before heading to a college football game. (It was so warm that we left after the 3rd quarter and are watching the rest of it on TV from home.) I also did a 30 minute Yoga DVD.

Happy Birthday yesiamadragon! How sweet that your dh baked your favorite cake for you. Sorry about our toe.

Ruth: Your wedding room will get fuller and fuller of things with each passing month! The colors they are chosen are going to be pretty. Congratulations on your new car!

I mentioned that litte kitty Iris Ann will be staying with us until Tuesday. Not sure but it may be longer bc my friend, her dh, and dd came back from their trip with all of them testing positive for Covid. I feel bad for them.

Walked yesterday with a friend. Walked/ran this morning.

Dh and I mowed today. My part was a little over an hour. Luckily we finished before it started raining.

My friends are still run down with Covid so we still have Iris Ann. It's amazing how she gets around. I forget at times she's blind.

Dh and I have appointments at the health department to get the new booster shot. I'm ready!

    Ruth - thanks

We had a great time hiking. The weather wasn't too hot and beautiful CO blue sky. Friday hiked only a couple hours as we didn't get up there till lunch time and I was exhausted from the work week. Saturday and Sunday 3.5 hours each day - posted pictures on FB. Saturday and Sunday we got 24 or 25K steps. At home we average 12K. My weight is up a couple pounds and I thought with all the hiking, I might shed them but no such luck. Got to quit the snacking. I did pretty good at work today, but not so good tonight.

Wonder - you use a push mower, correct? That's a lot of work. You go girl!

Record high today 99F. My school district is either closing or early dismissal 20 schools W,TH, due to the high heat. High 90s till Friday. Cooler weather on Saturday, then heating up again next week.

Saw the endocrinologist today due to hyperparathyroid. She doesn't agree with my medical oncologist about only 3 years on Prolia (which I finished in April). She wants me on it for life!! She has ordered 24 hour urine which I will do Sunday as I can't do it on a work day. As long as those numbers are good, she doesn't think anything else at this time. She doesn't think Rx will work and only other option is surgery which thankfully she doesn't recommend. The office is on the other side of town from me, so DH participated by phone. She is going to see if PCP can order the Prolia and give it to me to save me going out to her twice a year. I'm going to message her through patient portal to see if that doesn't work, if she can contact my medical oncologist and share her thoughts and maybe I can continue to get it with him. My next appointment with medical oncologist is in October. Didn't know if I should laugh or cry when she commented that I have so much going on with me!!! So many things that I'm being followed for can cause high blood calcium and bone loss.

Sweet dreams and have a good Wednesday

Ruth - gorgeous sunrise. Bruno looks like he loves the water!

Record high again today 99F - yesterday was either 98 or 99 and same for tomorrow then a cool down for a couple days.

I didn't think I was that tired when I got home from work. DH and I went for a walk when I got home. After our walk we were watching the news and I fell asleep. I haven't done that in some time. He keeps telling me how much more tired I am this year, which is true. Last night I got into bed at 11pm and 45 minutes later I was still awake so got up and went to the living room - of course eating junk. Eventually fell asleep and woke up at 3:30am, crawled into bed until it was time to get up at 4:45am.

    Wishing everyone a good Thursday.

The beginning of the school year is always exhausting & when you add the extreme heat......a double whammy.....whew! Makes me tired just reading about it!

I am going to try a new class this morning; Yoga Pilates Fusion & go to Dance2fit tonight.

Another record high today, 99! Thankfully tomorrow it will be in the 73 and Saturday 59 then warming up again to high 80s next week.

Left work absolutely mentally exhausted. Came home and took a nap for almost 1.5 hours. Now at 9 I have my second wind and wide awake. At least I don't work Fridays. I have 3 or 4 kiddos that take up a large part of my day. I think the heat today made the kids more wound up than usual.

Sweet dreams and have a great Friday

The heat makes everyone crazy. Hope you can have a restful weekend, Karen.

Bruno and I have a date at the Dog Park this morning with a friend & her grand-dog. Later we will probably go for a walk and I have to clean the house this weekend, or bulldoze it down!

lol Ruth! Sometimes I want to bulldoze down my house instead of clean it.

Karen: Heat is so exhausting. Glad it's cooling down for a few days at least. Stay safe.

Iris Ann was picked up today. I miss her cuteness and spunk. My male cat loved to play with her but my female cat only hissed at her and one time actually growled at her. Had to keep them separated.

Walked/ran this afternoon. I've been sitting too much lately which is NOT GOOD!

3 more weeks until dd gets married! Today she had her final fitting. Here's a sneak preview. (I have to make another post and do it from my phone instead of my computer.)

Wonder - how exciting - the dress is beautiful. Look forward to seeing photos after the wedding.

The above photo is from FB - too lazy to scroll through all my pictures on my phone to find the original photos. I also have them in an album, but again too lazy to look.

My brother is in the hospital with Covid and biggest issue is with breathing. The doctors have him on 3 antibiotics and the covid me - he said he started treatment at home on Wednesday. Not sure when he was admitted and he said doctors don't have a time on recovery. We aren't so close, but I worry about him. In 2018, he was in the hospital for a month fighting the flu and almost died. Thankfully he recovered.

Nice gray rainy day today and last night - today only in the 50s - such a nice break from the extreme heat. Tomorrow will be 75 and then heating up to high 80s.

    Sweet dreams

Karen, what an awesome memento to have of your father and Queen Elizabeth! On the local news there was just an interview with a local 96 year old lady who shared a birthday with Elizabeth. Many decades ago she wrote to the Queen and they became pen pals. Among other things, they bonded over their shared love of orange marmalade! I am so sorry your brother is in the hospital. I hope that the meds kick in and he can turn the corner to recovery. Covid is so much with us that I think we forget how serious it can be.

I went to yoga, finished cleaning the house, and then we went to a farm about an hour from here. The wife of the young couple who own it and her parents, who are dairy farmers, moved here from the Netherlands and brought their cheese making skills with them. They open up every so often and people can go watch the cheese making, aging process, buy cheese, gelato, and other dairy based products (you can also place orders which they deliver to towns in the area on a regular basis). We came home with a big wheel of Gouda and ordered several yummy gelatos to be delivered later in the month. More yoga and a dog walk today.

Karen: That is so cool about your father meeting Queen Elizabeth! Sorry about your brother being sick and hospitalized. I hope he is improving daily.

Ruth: I bet the Gouda is delicious. I would have ordered every flavor of gelato!

This weekend was a special 2 day program for adults at our Girl Scout camp. You get to camp both nights, go to fun sessions during the days, and all meals are cooked for you (and they're good!) It's been cancelled the last 2 years and I was really looking forward to going this year. Unfortunately it rained almost non stop so I decided to not spend the night in the wet, damp woods and only went for the day on Saturday. It was still good to be back. When the rain slacked up I was able to walk around so got in 3 miles or more. Also learned how to do needle felting!

Walked/kinda ran today. Need to lose 2 pounds before the wedding for my dress to fit me better.

dd and I have been working on her sitting chart for the wedding. It's not that easy but we're getting it done. Too many possible combinations of people. Plus you can't place certain relatives together at the same table and expect everyone to have a good time Lol!

    Walked/ran this afternoon.
