The heat makes everyone crazy. Hope you can have a restful weekend, Karen.
Bruno and I have a date at the Dog Park this morning with a friend & her grand-dog. Later we will probably go for a walk and I have to clean the house this weekend, or bulldoze it down!
0 -
lol Ruth! Sometimes I want to bulldoze down my house instead of clean it.
Karen: Heat is so exhausting. Glad it's cooling down for a few days at least. Stay safe.
Iris Ann was picked up today. I miss her cuteness and spunk. My male cat loved to play with her but my female cat only hissed at her and one time actually growled at her. Had to keep them separated.
Walked/ran this afternoon. I've been sitting too much lately which is NOT GOOD!
3 more weeks until dd gets married! Today she had her final fitting. Here's a sneak preview. (I have to make another post and do it from my phone instead of my computer.)

Wonder - how exciting - the dress is beautiful. Look forward to seeing photos after the wedding.
The above photo is from FB - too lazy to scroll through all my pictures on my phone to find the original photos. I also have them in an album, but again too lazy to look.
My brother is in the hospital with Covid and biggest issue is with breathing. The doctors have him on 3 antibiotics and the covid me - he said he started treatment at home on Wednesday. Not sure when he was admitted and he said doctors don't have a time on recovery. We aren't so close, but I worry about him. In 2018, he was in the hospital for a month fighting the flu and almost died. Thankfully he recovered.
Nice gray rainy day today and last night - today only in the 50s - such a nice break from the extreme heat. Tomorrow will be 75 and then heating up to high 80s.
Sweet dreams

Karen, what an awesome memento to have of your father and Queen Elizabeth! On the local news there was just an interview with a local 96 year old lady who shared a birthday with Elizabeth. Many decades ago she wrote to the Queen and they became pen pals. Among other things, they bonded over their shared love of orange marmalade! I am so sorry your brother is in the hospital. I hope that the meds kick in and he can turn the corner to recovery. Covid is so much with us that I think we forget how serious it can be.
I went to yoga, finished cleaning the house, and then we went to a farm about an hour from here. The wife of the young couple who own it and her parents, who are dairy farmers, moved here from the Netherlands and brought their cheese making skills with them. They open up every so often and people can go watch the cheese making, aging process, buy cheese, gelato, and other dairy based products (you can also place orders which they deliver to towns in the area on a regular basis). We came home with a big wheel of Gouda and ordered several yummy gelatos to be delivered later in the month. More yoga and a dog walk today.

Karen: That is so cool about your father meeting Queen Elizabeth! Sorry about your brother being sick and hospitalized. I hope he is improving daily.
Ruth: I bet the Gouda is delicious. I would have ordered every flavor of gelato!
This weekend was a special 2 day program for adults at our Girl Scout camp. You get to camp both nights, go to fun sessions during the days, and all meals are cooked for you (and they're good!) It's been cancelled the last 2 years and I was really looking forward to going this year. Unfortunately it rained almost non stop so I decided to not spend the night in the wet, damp woods and only went for the day on Saturday. It was still good to be back. When the rain slacked up I was able to walk around so got in 3 miles or more. Also learned how to do needle felting!
Walked/kinda ran today. Need to lose 2 pounds before the wedding for my dress to fit me better.

dd and I have been working on her sitting chart for the wedding. It's not that easy but we're getting it done. Too many possible combinations of people. Plus you can't place certain relatives together at the same table and expect everyone to have a good time Lol!
Walked/ran this afternoon.

Pound and started changing out the closet from summer to fall clothes.

I went in for my annual eye exam this morning and am waiting for my eyes to un-dilate so I can go outside. They are so sensitive to the sun that I feel like a vampire! Barre Sculpt & Dance2fit tonight.

Wonderland your daughter (and her dress) are absolutely stunning. What a beautiful bride. So happy for you and your family.

Ruth, I too started to change out my summer clothes for the winter ones. The cooler air feels refreshing but I will miss the summer days so much. I love the heat and long, sunny days.
0 -
I don't mind it being cooler, but I do miss the long, long days!

I think Colorado is staying on daylight savings time. It is going to be dark in the morning during winter months till probably 8am but won't get dark till 5ish. I think I would have preferred to stay on standard time year round, but I don't get paid to make the big decisions!!!
My brother is still in isolation. No visitors allowed. Update today from his wife that they changed some Rx and he slowly is moving in the right direction. He sat up in a chair today and brushed his teeth. They anticipate another week in the hospital. Hope this is accurate estimate as he then could be home for his birthday on the 23rd.
DD#2 arrives in one week!! Can't wait. It hasn't been that long since we saw her, but I love when I get to spend time with my kids. I don't think my older DD and SIL will be coming for any of the holidays
Sweet dreams and have a great Wednesday

Glad your brother is doing a little better, Karen. Sounds like it will be a long recovery. Glad DD#2 is coming home!
Here's the Wednesday Walking Women picture. We are all retired educators and it's Homecoming Week at the local high school. You may be able to guess that their school colors are blue and white!

Karen: May your brother continue to improve daily. Sorry he is so sick. Glad your dd is coming home for a visit.
Ruth: Great picture. I can almost feel the cool air in it.
Speaking of cool air, today has been pleasant. Still in the 80s but the dew point was in the mid 50s. Walked with a friend on a walking trail.

Thanks all for the good wishes for my brother.
Cooler weather today and rain this evening. It did stop long enough for us to get a walk in after dinner.
Wonder - the count down is on for you daughter's wedding. You must be so excited.
Ruth - the WWW group seems to keep growing. Did you all teach together?
I'm looking forward to DD#2's arrival. She is going to NY/NJ to see a couple very close friends in the middle of her visit here. She hasn't seen on friend she was bridesmaid in her wedding going on 3 years ago. The first week-end she is here, I thought she might want to go to the mountains, but one of her other girlfriends who is from Denver will be here for Rosh Hashana and she doesn't want to miss seeing her. She grew up with her Denver friend and her NY/NJ girls, one she has been friends with since middle school! I'm not sure who the other friend is as I didn't ask her. She made some long time friends when she first went to sleep away camp at age 11. My son stopped by this evening to say hi and borrow a couple tools to fix his windshield washer sprayer (or whatever it is called).
I am spent tonight. Hard couple weeks at work and today it hit me. I had tears in my eyes! I've been a School Psychologist for well over 30 years and this is the first time I've been so mentally exhausted and I'm only on week 4 with kids and week 5 for the school year. I have one kiddo that is taking up way too much of my time that I'm not seeing many of my kiddos. Also behind on paperwork. I've tried to set boundaries by not doing work at home, but I'm going to have to start doing a little at home, but right now I don't have the mental energy. No one is giving me any grief, its me being hard on myself. I was telling DD#2 about it and she goes "imposter syndrome". Since 1991, the only time I've taken off work that was for my religious holidays and death of my parents was the birth of my kids and BC. But tomorrow, I'm calling in sick. My son came over and I was telling him about my day and how I never take off and he remembers that I never took off. I just can't face another day. I need to take care of my mental health and physical health. I don't work Fridays and Monday is my colonoscopy so I won't be back in the building till Tuesday. The secretary texted me earlier say she was tired so I must be even more tired. I wrote her back and said beyond tired plus a headache. She wrote back and said get some rest as I only have one more day. I'm not saying anything till morning. I'm sure I'll be up early, so will email the school as well as my manager.
Sweet dreams.

Oh Karen, I feel so bad. A good friend of mine was over for several hours last night. She is also taking a mental health day today (which she has never done before either). She is in our age group and is a PA in a hospital that provides psychiatric and substance use disorder treatment services in a residential care setting. She is absolutely burned out and wanted to talk to us about retirement (DH worked in purchasing & contracting at that facility, which is run by the state of North Dakota). Since she can afford to retire, I very much encouraged her to do so, and you might very much want to explore that option yourself. It will make the rest of this school year go much better. You will appreciate the parts of the job you enjoy so much and, for the parts you don't enjoy, you can think "I will never have to do this again!". Something to consider, anyway.
We have WWW who taught at all levels; members have invited friends, who invite friends etc. etc. We also have a school secretary, and really if you ever taught anybody anything (which would be everyone), you could join the group if you wanted to.
I'm going to a yoga/pilates fusion class this morning. I am doing something different this evening. When a teacher friend of mine retired, she took up painting quite seriously, Some of her work is being displayed at the local Arts Center; with the opening reception being tonight. She invited me & another friend to be her invited guests, so I will be hobnobbing with the fancy people!

Karen, I read your post about an hour ago. Thought about it, came back to respond, and I see Ruth already has. To me, you're the Energizer Bunny. Up early, exercising, working. Going for long walks, hikes, cooking. Always on the go. But since school started, undiagnosed fatigue has set in. I bet cooking is even mentally and physically tiring for you. And that's not you, Karen. Sometimes it takes people like Ruth and me miles away from you to say it's time to find out what's causing this fatigue. You have good relationships with your doctors. Make an appointment with one of them. We are worried about you.
0 -
Karen: Hope you have been able to rest today. Be sure to read what Ruth and I have already posted. We are concerned for you.
Ruth: How nice that your friend's art work is being displayed and that you get to be around fancy people! (You're pretty fancy yourself)
Walked/ran this afternoon. Decided to start mowing this evening and then finish it tomorrow. Push mowed for 35 minutes.

Karen: Hope your fatigue is getting better. Be sure to read what Ruth and I have posted earlier.
Pushed mowed over an hour. Pruned bushes for an hour.

Hi all, I am just catching on the posts. Karen, I couldn't agree with Wonderland more. Undiagnosed onset of fatigue is something we breast cancer warriors need to run by the doctors who are watching over us and know our history. Like Ruth said, it could be burnout but better to be sure all is ok.

Hope you are having a refreshing weekend, Karen.
I took a new class on Thursday (which I will probably never do again). We spent most of the class doing planks & ended up with a painful, swollen elbow.....ouch! I iced it & didn't do any exercises involving the arms yesterday & it feels a lot better. I will treat it gingerly for a couple more days. I did walk yesterday & today, and did some standing leg work.

Thanks for your care and concern. I'm not ready to retire. I want to go out when I'm feeling good, not defeated. This year and one more year. Of course I will see how the years progresses and maybe this will be my last, but I really hope I can do one more year after this year.I am just so far behind because of one student and not seeing part of my caseload. Don't know what they are doing with me out till Tuesday, but I'm a little concerned that it will all fall back on me on Tuesday. My department meeting is this week and in person (or zoom), but I don't think I will go - will watch the zoom in between other work. I like the in person meetings but part of my self care if to try to manage my stress and going in person would add to my stress level as more time away. I have to do paperwork tomorrow and maybe Monday afternoon. The next month will be hard with all the holidays with the time I take off. I think the fatigue is so much on my plate. I see my medical oncologist in a month. I had CMP in June as well. Saw endocrinologist 10 days ago and have my colonoscopy on Monday - so lots of doctors are seeing me. I have so many things going on, but they are all "watch and see". No treatment for most of the issues.
The endocrinologist wants me on Prolia for life. It's turning into a big pain in the you know where as I have to get the Rx at the pharmacy and bring to the doctor. My PCP called it into the pharmacy that I usually use but it is $60 more than mail order so I need to contact PCP and have her fax Rx to mail order Rx. Local pharmacy won't do it and mail order would contact doctor but not pharmacy. When I got it at oncologist, I never had to pay and they would have the shot.I really needed Thursday off. There was no way I could have gone to work. I hope it helped.
My colonoscopy is Monday and my husband is not allowed to be with me. It makes me uncomfortable to not have with me when the GI doctor tells me what happened during the test - like if there were polyps etc. I'm not looking forward to tomorrow liquid diet or the prep tomorrow night and Monday morning
3 more days till DD#2 arrives!
My brother is now in the MICU. His heart rate was elevated and he was having trouble breathing. He said after dinner his heart rate was better. He is just not getting better. Last Tuesday they thought another week in the hospital, but I don't see him getting out in the next few days. I'm really worried about him. Please keep him in your thoughts/prayers.
Have a good Sunday

Karen, Is there any way that you can get more help/services for that student? He/She seems to be a root of your school stress. Might an institutional setting or specialized school be more appropriate for him/her? (I know we hate to think of that and school districts hate to pay for it, but sometimes it is an option that needs to be explored. Both for the student, and for the other students whose needs aren't being met because so much time is being concentrated on the one). Anyway, that is my 'armchair' analysis.
I am not envying you the colonoscope prep, although it is not at all as bad as it used to be! I can't remember if my next one is next year or the year after. They are a good thing to have behind you (pun intended). Ha!
Your procuring of Prolia sounds awful. When it comes to medical run-a-rounds, I really feel sorry for people who can't figure out how to navigate the system. I am sure many just give up.
I am worried about your brother too. Hoping his body can hang in there and start turning things around.
Wonderland, report in on your Wedding Week Schedule so we can celebrate vicariously with you!
I will walk today & maybe go to yoga. My elbow is still a little sore so I'd skip the downward dogs etc.
* Too bad that we don't all live in the same town so we could all go out for some of coffeelatte's coffee and have a proper gab session!!!!!!

Ruth, I would love to get together with the group on this board to have coffee, cakes (we deserve it) and a long gab session. It would be wonderful.
0 -
Cakes, for sure!!
We are in beautiful full fall mode here. The trail we just walked.

Just a quick note.
Karen: I'm glad that you took Friday off. Hope it was a restful weekend. Good luck with your prep. I think in December it will be my turn. I really hope your brother starts improving. How scary for him.
Ruth: Sorry about your elbow. Love your colorful walking trail.
The wedding is October 1 so not too busy this week. It's all coming together!
Having coffee, cake, and gabbing with all of you would be so much fun!
Walked/ran this afternoon. It was hot but it's done.

I'm a history geek so I got up early & watched all the coverage of the Queens funeral ceremonies. A dog walk & Pound this afternoon. My elbow isn't swollen anymore but still hurts, so definitely didn't go hard during class.
