Absolutely Hilarious, Ruth.

We have made progress. We now control the Senate. While it could go either way I am hopeful that when the time comes, we will get the Georgia seat as well. Cortez-Masto won her race so I'm hopeful for sure that Kari Lake is sent home as well.

I am so thrilled that I think I will contribute a little money to the Warnock campaign. I would really like Hershal Walker to NOT be in the Senate!

Yay! I was in bed watching Dateline last night on NBC when their news division cut into the program with a “special announcement" to say they were declaring Cortez Mastos the winner and that the Democrats held control of the Senate. It was great news to hear before I went to sleep!
It has been a relief to have elections that were not contested like Donald's and The Big Lie. I wonder if this registers with the average person in the U.S. that our nation is not in turmoil. Those who lost are accepting the results. I'm not sure if it's on this thread where I read that now Trump has delivered the Republicans its third losing election, beginning with the 2018 mid-terms. If anything, I do believe the Republicans will, at least behind closed doors, start to distance from him and look for other ways to cheat themselves into winning elections. I'm glad that even tho I'm in a solid red state (and county) now, I don't see the Trump flags flying. Hopefully that wave is over.

ruthbru,
I sent Warnock a small contribution. I’m hoping lots of people do that!

The following article is a lot longer but its most valid points are made in the first part I'm posting here. It's a reassuring read and makes me realize the number of significant victories by the Dems. I am so proud to be a Democrat and value the support we give each other on this thread!!
*Election deniers lose races for key state offices in every 2020 battlegroundThe candidates could have gained power over election administration. Voters rejected them in the six most pivotal states.
Amy Gardner/ Washington Post
Voters in the six major battlegrounds where Donald Trump tried to reverse his defeat in 2020 rejected election-denying candidates seeking to control their states' election systems this year, a resounding signal that Americans have grown weary of the former president's unfounded claims of widespread fraud.
Candidates for secretary of state in Michigan, Arizona and Nevada who had echoed Trump's false accusations lost their contests on Tuesday, with the latter race called Saturday night. A fourth candidate never made it out of his May primary in Georgia. In Pennsylvania, one of the nation's most prominent election deniers lost his bid for governor, a job that would have given him the power to appoint the secretary of state. And in Wisconsin, an election-denying contender's loss in the governor's race effectively blocked a move to put election administration under partisan control.
Trump-allied Republicans mounted a concerted push this year to win a range of state and federal offices, including the once obscure office of secretary of state, which in many instances is a state's top election official.
Some pledged to "decertify" the 2020 results, although election law experts said that is not possible. Others promised to decommission electronic voting machines, require hand-counting of ballots or block all mail voting. Their platforms were rooted in Trump's disproven claims that the 2020 race was rigged, and their bids for public office raised grave concerns about whether the popular will could be subverted, and free and fair elections undermined, in 2024 and beyond.
Election administrators and voting rights advocates said the rebuke of election deniers seeking state-level office was a refreshing course correction by U.S. voters, whose choice of more seasoned and less extreme candidates reflected a desire for stability and a belief that the nation's elections are in fact largely secure.
"This was a vote for normalcy," said Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R), who prevailed against a Democratic opponent Tuesday after defeating U.S. Rep. Jody Hice in the spring primary. Hice, who was endorsed by Trump, spent the campaign attacking Raffensperger for refusing to block Joe Biden's 2020 win in Georgia.
Voters "were looking for and rewarded character," Raffensperger said. "They were looking for people who could get the job done. They rewarded competence."
Elsewhere, the losers included Doug Mastriano for governor in Pennsylvania, as well as three candidates for secretary of state — Mark Finchem of Arizona, Jim Marchant in Nevada and Kristina Karamo of Michigan — all of whom sought to overturn the 2020 result. Losing gubernatorial contender Tim Michels in Wisconsin would have had the power to push a Republican plan to eliminate the bipartisan Wisconsin Elections Commission and transfer election administration to the secretary of state or another partisan office.
Of the five who were defeated in the general election, only Michels, who lost to Gov. Tony Evers (D), had conceded as of Saturday afternoon. But most of the others have, so far, stopped short of claiming that fraud had tainted their races. Their muted reaction to Tuesday's outcomes suggested that attacking the integrity of American elections is not a winning formula, at least for state office, voting rights advocates said.
"Republicans are tired," said Democrat Cisco Aguilar, who was projected late Saturday to have defeated Marchant in Nevada. "They're seeing that it's not a winning path. I think they're hearing the voters."

Something else mentioned in the article: “The Democratic Association of Secretaries of State and affiliated groups spent historic sums — more than $24 million — on races in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota and Nevada, said Griswold, who leads the political committee. Four years ago, the group spent less than $3 million.“
So good on the Democrats

I truly hope Pelosi and the DNC finally start listening to what the youth voters want. The way Dem leadership has treated progressives and Millennials in the past, "Thank you for your votes, children, now sit down and be quiet," was incredibly patronizing. It's no wonder they're so disillusioned with the two-parties and are going Independent. In Colorado, registered Dems have a slight lead over the GOP, but Independents far outnumber them both.

Just wow the memes are great. Divine, I'm glad to see and read your article. I have been and remain proud of the Democrats and their hard work
And from Divines article:
Voters "were looking for and rewarded character," Raffensperger said. "They were looking for people who could get the job done. They rewarded competence."
I do think in many cases while it was hard work that the democrats put forward, that many, many people no matter what party they were a part of saw how in-compatible the no ideas, no platform Reps. were with the quieter stability that was wanted and very much needed. Whether they admit it or not chaos takes a toll, and everyone is I feel, tired of it. So, they really did go for more law and ORDER and not less. Sadly, we did get a lot of Reps. that are not truly suitable, but I do think they will be weeded out.
The other thing I'm thinking is whether or not the Reps. party can get the guts to renounce the Loon soundly. Some have, but others stay one the just in case shelf. That will make many keep trying to use Trumpism which should come to little avail, just as it did this time. People really did seem to make a choice and in so many cases a great one about what they really wanted.
Now I'm awaiting hopefully more good news for us, but also what the Loon will come up with on Tuesday. If he announces, (though he is quite the blatant thief) it will tend to stop his raking in money and being able to keep almost all of it. That would be pain for someone who equates money as somehow adding to your character as a man for all people. I keep thinking he will come up with some clever way to say he is running w/o making it really official just yet. As some have said, he is not going to run at all in 2024. Well, I've thought it may be the most un-feasible thing he could ever do since he has so many lawsuits coming to a head. I continue to think his ego would truly shatter if he ran and lost again. He will really have to think about that now since all those he put forward were losers.
He has lost for the better part of the two yrs. he has been out of office. He lost in 18' and he lost big time during the insurrection. Now he has lost the in 22'. At some point people will either ignore him totally or make their point by alluding to his losses all the time. I just can't see him allowing things like that to happen. His loyal people have dwindled. He is and will remain on shaky ground. Tuesday will be interesting.
