And it would be just fine if he continued to look like a derelict there alone.

I so hope this is how it pans out, but it is going to be a long time to wait. I do think Warnock can make it now w/o the third party candidate in the way.

Haha, Jackie! Love the meme reference to Fatal Attraction! Seems to have that perfect ring of truth!

So they now wish to raise the voting age because 18 yr. old brains are not fully formed and rational, except in the case of 10 yr. old rape victims who are to be seen as ready, willing and able mentally to deal with pregnancy The idiots continue to be so dreadfully tiresome and dangerous. Anyway to cheat is good enough for them..

And this is what hooking up with the Loon can be worth to you. EVERYTHING.
The rational part of this is that Oz never truly deserved a lot of what he had before he was stupid enough to hook up with the Loon.

Jackie, I have always had a crush on Bradley Whitford. And I would love to see an end to Lauren Boebert in office. I'm a big DWTS fan, tho and don't want to see her there, either!
The Oz meme is well stated. Oz joins a long, very long list of people who've gambled away their careers by supporting/endorsing/aligning themselves with Donald Trump. I remember Oz's comments during the pandemic (before his Senate run):
** When Sean Hannity wondered what would it take to reopen the country amid the pandemic, he turned to Dr. Oz who suggested that some things could be opened "without getting into a lot of trouble," such as schools.
"I tell you, schools are a very appetizing opportunity," he said, adding that resuming classes, according to his reading of a new medical journal analysis, "may only cost us 2 to 3 percent in terms of total mortality."
That death rate, he concluded, "might be a trade-off some folks would consider." **
I couldn't believe he used the word “appetizing", and his comments on 2 to 3 percent mortality caused an uproar on social media. I never cared for the dude but that truly sealed the deal for me back then.

And losing by doing all the crap they accuse others of having preformed. They are evil.

If true, great.
Rather surprising coming from the rt. who shut down Biden's student forgiveness program.

Which is exactly why Herschel Waler ended up in a run-off. The Evangelicals voted for him because he was a Reps. rather than a Democratic preacher

This is a little piece from Jason Easely and Sarah Jones.
They feel the mid-terms has detonated the self-destruction of the Reps. party.
After 2016, Trump convinced the Republicans that remained in the party that MAGA was the way forward. They believed that he owned the Republican base so the only that they could stay in power was to yield to Trump.
Then the losses started.
Republicans lost the 2018 midterm, which they blamed on usual midterm outcomes for a first-term president. The GOP then lost the 2020 presidential election out of fear of Trump, they adopted his big lie that the election was stolen. 2022 was the straw that broke the camel's back. Trump lorded over the party and they lost an election that they were expecting to win handily.
MAGA wasn't the way, and MAGA candidates did worse with voters than regular Republicans.
People forget where the Republican Party was before Trump in 2016.
Seven or eight years ago, the only thing that Republicans agreed on was their contempt for Obama.
The party was on the verge of a civil war. It is the reason why roughly 316 Republicans ran for the presidential nomination in 2016.
Trump came along took over the party and was able to rule it with cruelty and an iron fist. Republicans still disagreed, but they didn't say it out loud.
The civil war is back in the Republican Party. There is already talk of Kevin McCarthy getting thrown overboard. A few Senate Republicans are suggesting that they won't vote for Mitch McConnell as the leader, and Trump is completely out of control and attacking anyone who might run for president in 2024.
Republicans are a dumpster fire because your votes broke the Republican Party.

Just heard that Mark Kelly is the projected winner of the Senate seat in Az. Katie Hobbs numbers have increased so that Kari Lake at this point in falling farther behind. Naturally my fingers are crossed really hard that things continue just that way. I don't feel a lot of concern since they have actually called for Mark Kelly, but Hobbs and Lake were a lot closer.
Same goes for Nevada and Cortez-Masto. She is behind but has continued to gain ground so it would not be impossible for her to overtake Laxalt. I hope and pray she does. It is bothersome at this point that the races seem so close. Either way there could be some dissent although I would think it more likely to happen from the Reps. side. I think more votes will still come tonight, but it sounds like it may not be all of them. Sure would be nice if it were enough to get a projected winner.
Here's hoping.

IllinoisLady - I think the twitter post about student loans is a joke on Elon Musk, a "verified" - blue checked supposedly DEPT OF EDUCATION, paid $8 imposter tweet! similar to the one by Eli Lilly which announced that their insulin henceforth would be free - causing their stock to plummet. I guess there is no one left at Twitter to actually do any verification!!! Hmmm, I have a lot of wishes that are worth $8!!!

It'd be nice to think the Republican party is fractured, but I'm not buying it. We had too many important races with very narrow margins of victory for either party. That tells me plenty of people are still too willing to vote Republican and often a straight Republican ticket regardless of what a piece of shit the Republican candidate is. Even in cases where a Democrat wins, the Rep. candidate often gets too many votes to think the party is going bust. Take Dr. Oz for example. It's ridiculous how many people voted for him. And look how many voted for Hershel. Then you have horrible people like MG Taylor and Gym Jordan still getting voted back into office. Yes, a right wing extremist like Mastreano in PA was defeated but this just tells me Republicans will modify their campaign talking points next time to appeal to more voters. Once they get into office, they can pull the bait and switch, like recent Supreme Court Justices did.
And in my home county, despite so much money pouring in from the American Rescue Plan that is helping this depressed area, it overwhelming voted in every single Republican candidate. No Dems won at all.
That said, Democrats learned a lot in this midterm election to help them with their game plan going forward which makes me cautiously hopeful for our country's future,

Because true belonging only happens when we present our authentic,
imperfect selves to the world, our sense of belonging can never
be greater than our level of self-acceptance.

illinoislady,
The Dept. Of Education did not issue a blanket statement on student loan forgiveness. What you posted was part of an “attack" on Twitter where many accounts were falsely created, as part of Twitter's verified account program, which were completely false identities!

Jelson, you are quite right. It sounds like Musk is learning the hard way that you don't just buy something because you have the funds. Time to wonder just what will be left of Twitter. Hate to say it, but why would the Loon want to have anything to do with what looks to be on its way to a massive failure.
I do think the Reps. party is going odd-wise now. Everything I've read suggests so many really thought they would have the red wave and defeat the Democrats soundly. That did not happen. It's quite true that we lost seats, and some of the people we most wanted gone are still there., but we got most of the governorships that would have cancelled the votes if they didn't go for Reps. so our democracy is going to hold.
Also in question yet is Senate control. Could well still be ours, but we may have to wait for the run-off vote in Georgia. I'm not going to count us as defeated when we held back what was to be a massive red wave. McCarthy's place as well as McConnell's seems to be in some jeopardy right now. In the end, who knows for sure. They want to blame the Loon but many of them still don't have the intestinal fortitude to do it. They are in a bad place and they are not at all sure of themselves since they fizzled so badly. Thank God for Nancy Pelosi. Kept things together and with her and Pres. Biden -- we kept the light on.
I'm sad that we still have many people such as Jim Jordan, and Ron Johnson as well as Marjorie Taylor Greene but they are not in charge. I do hope they will be busier fighting each other than getting things done which they threatened. Then again, that has been their issue all along. They have stopped doing THINGS for people and only suiting themselves. Big on threats but you have to be able to actually produce. At some point that can no longer pay off and if they can't even agree with each other should come sooner rather than later. My hope remains that we will keep the Senate. I'm trying to do what Rachel Maddow has always said -- don't pay attention to what they say (threat talk) pay attention to what they do.
exbronxgrl, so true. I hoped Musk was trying for some redemption but it was a fake out.

You made some good points, Jackie. Many Repugs don't have the guts to go against Trump. I'd love to see McCarthy and McConnell get their just dues. All Republican in fighting to do themselves in would be fine by me. And glad of the many Dem governorships.
Speaking of which, I'm so impressed with Gretchen Whitmer and her strong stance on….well, on everything! It is women in office like her, and of course the amazing Pelosi, that I am grateful for. Whitmer won by a good majority, too, which I love. She's been through so much with shit from Trump and the kidnap attempt and she stays the course.

I read an article some time ago about Joe McCarthy, McCarthyism, and the damage he did to the Republican Party in the late 1950s into the 1960s. Time will tell whether or Trump and Trumpism has the same impact to the Republican Party or not. We didn’t have Fox News and other media back then. It’ll be an interesting couple of weeks for the leadership of the GOP in the house and the senate.

I'm now wondering what is going to happen cardplayer with Fox News. Seems like they are dumping the Loon for the moment, but they have backed away from him before only to return. They really don't want to back real losers since it makes the spin much harder and after the WAVE fiasco, I'm thinking they see the Loon as well as the Reps. party in sad shape. Wonder if that will continue until the Reps. are able to pull themselves together and get some sort of plan.
How odd because having some sort of platform other than to steal votes and punish Democrats would have given them a lot more to go on than what they have mainly ended up with which is mainly nothing. Divine, I'm impressed with G. Whitmer very much as well. She was in addition to sticking to her stance all the way, seemingly not very intimidated over the thugs who attempted to come after her.
The suspense over what some of the big races will reveal first of the week just still has the power to make me cringe a bit. I'm hopeful but learned not to assume that just because our side is sane doesn't mean we will get all the seats we deserve. I just hate that Tim Ryan (who really did seem to have things well in control) didn't make it. He worked so hard and had so much to give. I hope people who voted for J.D. Vance find out sooner rather than later what they have in that guy which is, in my opinion, mainly hot air. One of the Loon's losers who won't be producing anything viable for the people of Ohio likely.
