What's wrong with vitamin C? I take it daily to help with my daily iron pill absorption.

@crossh are you still undergoing active chemotherapy? Which link is broken?
- Vitamin C from food is safe according to most studiess (ask your doctor though!), but high-dose supplements could act as antioxidants and may interfere with some chemo drugs. Evidence is mixed, but many oncologists urge caution with supplements during treatment. Since you’re also taking iron, which vitamin C boosts absorption of, it’s worth checking with your care team!
- Some good questions you may want to ask your doctor:
- Is my current vitamin C dose safe with my chemo drugs?
- Should I change the timing or stop during treatment?
- How much iron do I actually need and are my iron levels being monitored?
- Are there any known interactions between my supplements and my specific chemo regimen?
- They can personalize the advice based on your labs and treatment plan.

I have not started yet. Surgery Friday then will start 2-3 weeks after. Many links are broken.

Great Information! My first chemo treatment was 12/18/25. Surgery date was 10/24/25.
I did have an immediate reaction when the Taxol drip started. Immediate back pain, difference in chest tightness, my body felt TOTALLY different 1-2 minutes into that drip. Yes, I started with Benadryl and steroids and the herceptin drip first. I was totally fine during the first portion of treatment. Nurse stopped Taxol, contacted Oncologist. I was given more Benadryl and steroids, waited 20 minutes, lowered drip dosage then gradually increased. I was able to make it through the entire treatment.
