Recently got diagnosed with DCIS at 24 years old
Hi everyone, I’m really glad I came across this space. I’m 24 years old and was recently diagnosed with low-grade ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), estrogen-positive. It started when I noticed a lump in my left breast, which I honestly didn’t think much of at first. I think I was influenced by people around me—some of my…

12 Years of multiple callbacks
Twelve years ago I had spontaneous nipple discharge from my right breast. Following a mammogram, ultrasound, and biopsy, I ended up having a lumpectomy to remove an intraductal papilloma. All was good until 6 month after the surgery and the spontaneous discharge started again and continues still now, 12 years later. No…

Seroma non infection
Hello everyone. It has been a while since I was on here. But I have questions and need your help and I know this entire community is amazing. I was here everyday during chemo and all my treatments. I had to have an implant removed last year due to infection. Fast forward to now and I had another tissue expander exchange on…

Thinking About Skipping Radiation – Anyone Else?
Hi everyone, I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I’m curious if anyone here has ever skipped radiation. I had chemo and got a complete response—no cancer—and I ended up having both breasts amputated. My right breast was healthy, and my left had a fast-growing 7 cm tumor. I was Stage III. I went with a…

Lymph node removed but pathology says no evidence of lymphatic tissue found!
Has anybody had masectomy with sentinel lymph node removed but pathology says no lymphatic tissue found? I’m seeing breast surgeon tomorrow and oncologist next week. Will I need another procedure? I’m not sure I’m comfortable not having lymph node tested as this is my second time having breast cancer!

Suffocating in the waiting...
For the last 6 months I have been experiencing a strange shooting pain sensation on my left side, right between my armpit and my breast and it would radiate through my breast. I ended up going to the ER because I thought that I was having a heart attack. I am almost 37 years old. The ER told me I had inflammation in my…

I'm looking for advice re: my lumpectomy on Monday next week
I'll try to keep the background as short as possible—unfortunately, it is a bit of a twisted tale. I had a screening breast MRI in Sept. last year. It came back BI-RADS 5 (greater than 95% likely cancer). The targeted US showed a rather benign-looking nodule that was presumed to be the one seen on the MRI. An US-guided…

Radiation & tamoxifen - necessary...?
Hi everyone, I’d really appreciate hearing from others in a similar situation. I’m in my early 40s, no kids, not close to menopause, and recently had a lumpectomy for a 12 mm, grade 1, ER+/PR+ HER2- IDC (plus a small area of DCIS). Margins were clear, and there was no lymph node involvement. My Ki-67 is low (10%), and I’ve…

Lung Nodule Incidental Finding
UPDATE - most likely benign - see below for details and cautions of how one scan leads to another…to another…to… Had a cardiac CT due to elevated LDL cholesterol. All clear so no statin - 0 calcium score. BUT a pulmonary nodule, partly solid, "measuring up to 9 mm" was found on the lower lobe of my right lung. No…

Radial Scar
Hi All, Just looking to connect with people who may have had similar experiences or diagnosis. I went for my first breast check, age 32 due to a concern on my right side. This was clear on imaging, however the ultrasound found architectual distortion on the left. This lead to a mammogram, mri, core biopsy and lumpectomy.…

Asymmetry on first screening mammogram. Scared. Please help.
I'm 40 and got my first screening mammogram (3D) a few days ago. They found a "small lateral asymmetry best seen on CC tomosynthesis" on my left breast. They didn't see any microcalcifications. They captured a few extra images, so I'm guessing they saw it on multiple ones. The BIRADS score is 0, which means they need…

US Biopsy Complete, Made to Delay Skin Biopsy
I’m 37, had a mammogram & ultrasound earlier this month due to changes in my right breast not responding to dermatological treatment (persistent itching, raised bump/rash, discharge). The 2 findings were Birads 4 (no letter): a small mass in the upper outer quadrant (10:00, U.S. biopsy), and the other a skin-related lump…

SSDI review with metastatic breast cancer - lose benefits?
I just got a packet of mail from my state disability determination services office, saying that they are reviewing my disability status. I was diagnosed with unnumberable bone-only mets in Feb 2020.
