Good morning, Loungettes! And welcome to the new little Prince, and congrats to royal couple.
Juliet--LOL! What images to start the ayem with!
Cammy-- I had a great weekend, thanks, and I'm taking my pills right now.
Goldie--Been taking me time when I get home from work, and loving it! Thanks for keeping me on track.
Wahine--I cannot imagine the stress of working 2 jobs with a baby and toddler to take care of. Even if working as a nurse isn't for you the training is a benefit to you and everyone around you. It's so much better when someone realized a job isn't for them and moves on rather than staying put and suffering through. Not sure if something showing up on DH's monitor is a good thing or not. At least you know the monitor will catch the problem. Now to pray that it's an easily fixable problem. Praying for all the appointments today, too.
Karen--a friend with a pool is a wonderful thing this time of year! How did your talk go? I bet it went great, can't imagine it not going well.
Cammy--get copies of your test results when you see your Onc tomorrow and we'll help you translate the terminology and jargon. Pain meds are a wonderful thing, but they can make the mind work kinda weird and goofy. Do you take someone with you to your appointments, someone who can take notes or just listen and help remember the details? I did get home at a good time last night, spent a lovely hour or two on the deck listening to an audio book and playing fetch with Sadie.
Wahine--Wow, you have done just about everything! I'm assuming DH just doesn't remember the brain surgery you've done on him?
Cammy--thanks for checking in with Adey, and glad to hear she's doing good!
Cammy-- a lump pushing your liver into your ribs? Sounds painful, indeed. Well, if the pain hasn't changed then likely nothing else is changing. Like Wahine said, pay attention to your body and what it's telling you. Like Julie said, if your breathing starts being affected, go to the ER ASAP. And let us know what you find out.

LOL NM, do you mean the lobotomy I performed on my DH??? J/K. Well I don't remember much of the nursing training...except for keeping a "sterile field" above the site....which I rarely see anyone do. Knew going in that I didn't want to be a nurse, but the extra training would advance me in the NG, pllus be more of a help to the NG unit. We were a "mash" type of unit, so the field medic training was the most useful. BUT the "half" LPN training was OVER 30 yrs ago, so not much retained, since I had a lot of major things happen since then. So I still rely heavily on advice and help from you and Julie, for sure!!!! OH I love the DOTD, sooooo smart of you to have LONDON Gin!
Oh yeah Julie, did NOT do the world's oldest profession!!! ALthough then maybe I would not have had to work TWO jobs at the same time??? I love the old joke about the woman who bragged about bringing home $20.05 for the night. Then someone asked who the nickel came from, and it turns out that EVERYONE just paid her a nickel. Forgot exactly how that went, but that is the jist of it. Funny you mentioned The Chew, as when I was looking at the online obits for the day (our printed newspaper cut back to 3xwk), there was an ad for The Chew, so I went to it and they showed how to make Sweet Potato Chips. We make the SW fries a lot,but now I need a mandolin to cut them thin for chips! Looked good.
Shannon, Thanks for keeping us with something to dwink and to drool over! Would be awesome to hike to the Hollywood Sign! Didn't know that was allowed; now I need another trip to LA! I sure enjoyed the times we hiked to the top of Diamond Head, and the Hollywood Sign would be amazing too!!! Hope you get to do it, but have you done it before? Prolly, huh.
How is our dear Camille (see I'm still worried bout ya) doing today??? And your onc appt isn't till tomorrow, right? DO take care of yourself, ok!!!
Becks, Dotty, Lori (who I may end up bumping here!), Karen, Sue, Lara, Cyndie, Alli, HOPE everyone has a great TWOS-DEY! We can have an HRH dwink in ea hand, foah shuah! And all you MIA's, come on back here!!!!!
Hugssssssssssssssssssssssss,
Katheeeeeeeeeeeeee

OMG I didn't bump into Lori...NOW where are you, girlfriend??? You usually get to post quite eurly.....

I'm here Kat, was reading and replying and refreshed before posting, so no bumpsies. Hope you hear from your DD soon.
Kathy, you are so right about Cami and her complaining, which really, you don’t really complain Cami and you do do it with such humor. Great attitude to have Cami. Funny about your DH and the monitor going off, but not because of boom chickie or self boom chickie! But in all seriousness, wishing him well, glad he got the monitor. Also praying that your world is NOT turned upside down, still praying for your sweet DD.
Cami, for sure, breaking even is just as good as winning. Glad to know Adey is ok, wish the two of you could meet up. Oh my, a petrified being? If they can’t tell what it is from the PET, would they do a biopsy?
Way to go Julie on the water aerobics, and love the hot flash cook book. Maybe because so many woman get breast cancer, that is the reason for all of this hot weather across the country!
LOL Beckers, telling Cami that maybe she just has to poop! We call that “dropping the kids off at the pool”! My mom had two Maltese that did their duties in the house.
Sounds like a fun day Karen and a great way to support your friend. Good for you, on the talk with the Komen group.
Ha ha, I did know MILF, I had been called that back in the day.
Shannon, glad you stopped by. Also glad that you had a wonderful birthday. Heading to Hollywood eh? Have fun and happy birthday to your sister, who is the younger one?
NM, glad you are taking that ME time, good girl. And I’m sure Sadie loves it too. Ha ha on Kat’s DH not remembering the brain surgery she performed, goot one! What does the HRH stand for?
Well, I got lots of tomatoes and peppers out of the garden yesterday, so I am working in the house today so I can do some canning……………woo hoo!

HRH= "His Royal Highness", but it could have worked for a girl too, with "her".....

Good Morning all my ladies--a bit late but I slept. no other excuse.
NM good choice for DOTD All the news is stsrting happy news about the future King after all that's before him. And NM I like that u'r relaxing with Sadie--it's what u need.
Lori all the work with the veggies, I never learned anything like that, I remember watching it being done, but good that u have the patience for it. And it is ymmy in the middle of winter.
Undie what fun and now the Hollywood sign--I thought too that was off limits or is that the whole point Hmmmm like what u left for us thos that's a gift in itself. Have fun.
Kat keep us up to date.
OK this is hysterical to me and I can't be the only one--Kat is a trained killer--I haven't stopped laughing at that. I'm not trying to make u mad Kat remember that at all times. Everything u mentioned was kind of normal and fine u really didn't like it and I loved the way oh I think it was NM or Julie zeroes in on the nurse part of this--BUT A TRAINED KILLER is hysterical--I know I'm wacky but who would have guessed that one. LOL I love this story.

Just got home and I am cwacking up about how Cami is cwacking up about my military training!!! It iz whut it iz.....lol. I love that I made you laff, cuz it is hard to think of something you haven't done yourself. But I tell you this, if war had broken out I would have taken my 2 babies and become a Canadian citizen quicker than you could say "awol"!!!! Wuz not in it for fighting, but I do admire those women that can go off to fight and leave their family at home. Wow, that is dedication. We used to have to take apart our "weapon" which is what they made us call the M-16...I mean take it apart to every last spring, clean it, and put it back together in record time. I would have no idea how to do that now!
Well, spent $200 on my running/walking shoes, but WELL WORTH IT...the guy spent over an hour getting the fit right, and that is not just the shoes, but the orthodics, socks, etc. They even have a treadmill there with a camera aimed at your feet, so you can see the video of how you really walk, and problems, etc. Awesome. There were so many runners in there getting new running shoes....me and my mom were the old ladies of the group! The actual shoe was the same price at Dick's Sporting Goods, and no service there. Had a bad thunderstorm while we were in that running store, so we timed it perfect. What was funny is that then my mom thought she needed to get fit too and get a pair, but she is comfy in her regular walmart jogging shoes, so why bother. This MAY save me from toenail surgery.....we'll see. That dr was right on the money....I never had worn the right size shoe before! But of course the probs flying are a different story, but I got that under control a few months ago. WooHoo!!!!! I am one happy camper, I mean one happy walker!
No news on my DD's yet, but glad my DD1 went to B'ham as those drs are really good and are going to look at the Pathology Slides, etc, and read it themselves, before making a recommendation. Thanks for all the continued prayers!
Is it Happy Hour yet?? Somewhere? In Ireland??/ Speaking of Ireland, BERNIE I am putting out an APB for you, so you need to come back into the HTL pronto!!! Wese all misses ya!
Chug-A-Lug! (Three tenders in a tub...), okay you can go on from there....let your imaginations run WILD!

Hello Ladies,
Well, the exciting part of this summer is officially over..Getting back into a routine hasnt been easy..too many changes from how things were before the summer.
Wahine, you had me cracking up looking up the definition of MILF..lmao.. you are and have been a lot of things...and I also hear professional Killer, are we talking killer for hire or serial killer??
Does Beckers have a new furbaby??? Tell me about it. My Reece does his bidness inside too...he is very good about going on his potty pads tho and unless its piddling from excitement never have to clean up a mess...Good luck with the training. Have you been able to visit much with your DH this summer? Have you been spending much time with Annie?
Happy Belated Birthday to Shannon...thanks for supplying those yummy looking rainbow drinks and the strawberry drinks too...Loook so good...glad you had fun with your family. Hiking up to the Hollywood sign...sounds like fun..and sounds exactly like something Katrinkatheexplorer would do..Im sure she apreciates the tip.
NM..how have you been doing in the heat up there this summer? Sounds like you have had a lot of Sadie time...thats awesome! I hope YOU time too.
Cami...good luck at your onc appt...I will be thinking of you and praying for favorable results. How is Joey? What has he been up to this summer?
Lorilu...I jelous of your veggie gardens and your ability to do canning and such. Do you vaccume seal and freeze any of your veggies? What do you grow besides Maters?
So HRH has arrived. ..we were hoping he would come while we were there.
Julie, You are still working in the gift shop and have expanded to the Cafe? Do you like it? Still want to work out a time to connect with you. Maybe once the dust settles here.
Mema...howz things? And DorKie, Allie, Bernie?? Lara,... ChrissyB??? Must be getting close to wedding time for Chrissy..when was that happening? Anywho...If I forgots anyone I Apologize ...Whats everyone drinking?
Attached a recent photo of Reece.

Awwwwwww your Reese is such a cutie-patootie....sooooo teeny and sooo precious!!! Thanks for the updated pic. How could you EVER get mad at him?? LOL...I know, I know. Also LOL, just the phrase when the Army trains you in all those weapons, so you become a "trained killer"....would never be able to do it though. I like that...."KatrinkaTheExplorer"....that name fits me to a "T". Geez, does that mean all T's should fit??? I would love to hike up to the Hollywood Sign, and we could all go, and have a drink up there to celebrate!!! What a view too, huh. Nice to have you back here posting, CyndieLouWhoWorksTooMuch! But I know it is smart to get all that work and overtime in when you can. You are very dedicated, and they are lucky to have you working for them. Will this shift last for a long time? Hope you get back to a shift you like, soonliest. C Ya Latah Gatah

OMG welcome home Cyndie--we all missed u--well I did LOL But u had a great time and that's what u need. It;s wonderful to come home, but u want to continue the vacatin. And u'r furbaby is so so cute, just the right size for me. and to come home to the news that---------------------
Kat is a trained killer has to be a shocking discovery--so we have to be very nice to her-I'm still cracking up honest. I don't know why that's so funny--so many women have been trained for that but our sweet Kat hahahaha a Natural born Killer wow hahaha--Kat I'd be right with u going to Canada and know I'll be safe with u. LOL Sorry I'll get over this funny thing that goes thru my mind.

Yesterday, I "spoke" at a golf tournament luncheon on behalf on Komen....probably less than 5 minutes.....they just really wanted me to stress the good that Komen does and that 75% of the money raised stays locally to serve underinsured and uninsured women. Today I worked a health fair table for Komen at the airport....SW airlines had a health faire for their employees. I will "man" the education table for the TRI for the Cure....an all women triathelon here in Denver. Also got invited to a survivor luncheon that is co-sponsored CTCA and Komen....I think I'll take mom with me. Just got to "check" the date with her, but I know her calendar is free that day....luckily its a day I don't work as the school year will have aready started again!!! I only have 4 weeks of summer left!!!! Okay...for those of you that work year round, don't feel sorry for me, but the summer is going by all too quickly.....I haven't accomplished as much as I hoped to. still some friends that I want to connect with....it seems that half my days are taken up with doing things with or for mom!!! I can't complain, but I do enjoy those days that are just me!!!! Today is the 2nd day in a row that I'm not going to mom's, unless I go after dinner....and tomorrow mom is going to the mountain casino with her apt so won't see her, but we are busy Thursday and Friday. Had fun with my gf last night....she originally called to cancel saying she was having bad day, but when i called her back she was up for company...her pool is above ground and small...perfect for floating or standing and chatting....and just fun for us girls to be together...She asked me when I was going through my stuff, did I have time for people with drama!!!! I told her I didn't then and I don't know!!!!! She laughed....told me husband and he said the same thing!!!! So past people with drama at this point in my life.....like that one "friend" I told you about after Dad's funeral....Neither DH or I have heard from her since...DH said, she used us!!!! I know who my true friends are...there are there regardless and don't make excuses....and if they can't be there, they don't make excuses, just honest...sorry that I wasn't there!! This gf I saw yesterday didn't say much or contact me when I told her Dad died....but she was going through her own grief...turns out she served her husband with divorce papers the same day Dad died......but the thing is, when I talked to her some time after that, she didn't make excuses, just said she wasn't there!!! I get it....and my heart hurts for her....she is really hurting over this divorce stuff....38 years of marriage!!! We laughed together yesterday and gave each other a great big hug when we said bye for the evening.....Thinking I'm rambling so will say see you later!!!

Where did you go Orange and what did your X friend do?? What IV are you having? Where is the nerve damage? My bra sets off my nerve damage. Mine is shoulder blade, back of arm and arm pit. When I scratch my shoulder blade, I feel it in my boob and when I drink, I feel the coldness in that boob. That's some crazy chit huh?
Where IZ Bernie and Mema?? Was it something we said? Or did? Maybe at the Last jello shot lampshade party??? Hope they are OK.
Julie, I would be in such trouble if they put me in cafe.

Oh Lara, that sounds like so much pain. Sheesh you've been thru a lot since that surgery. But yes, glad that someone understood that you REALLY have all that pain, and now they can take care of it. Sounds like quite an ordeal though.

Orange...glad you found a doctor that you like and understands you and your needs...Lyrica is used for neuropathy...it is similar to gabapentin (Neurontin) which I took for joint pain when I was on the AI's...hope you get some relief....WHere did you go on vacation?
DD#2 got to Toronto tonight from camp.....I missed her like crazy today knowing that camp ended...but I talked to her when DD#1 picked her up and then have "talked" to her a bit on fb.....she is in Toronto till Monday morning.
Getting a bit of "me time" again tomorrow....having lunch with a gf tomorrow...she retired at the end of the school year....we worked together for 4 years (though only 1 day/week)....then on Sunday meeting anotherg for bagels in the morning....
DH cooked dinner tonight cuz a friend of his came over...the friend asked DH to meet at a local brew pub....DH said why not come to my house, the beer is better...so friend brought over chicken breasts and DH grilled them with some italian sausage...I made roast potatoes and cut up veggies (no real work as far as cooking).....we had a good time laughing.....MY DH and his guy are so much alike...they've really hit it off and like hanging out together and if we had been teen-age parents, he could be our son!!!
Beckers...what is a mud 5K?
Cyndie...hope all is okay at the homestead!!!
Sweet dreams....

A MESSAGE FROM THE QUEEN
To the citizens of the United States of America from Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
In light of your failure in recent y...ears to nominate competent candidates for President of the USA and thus to govern yourselves, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your independence, effective immediately. (You should look up 'revocation' in the Oxford English Dictionary.)
Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will resume monarchical duties over all states, commonwealths, and territories (except North Dakota, which she does not fancy).
Your new Prime Minister, David Cameron, will appoint a Governor for America without the need for further elections.
Congress and the Senate will be disbanded. A questionnaire may be circulated next year to determine whether any of you noticed.
To aid in the transition to a British Crown dependency, the following rules are introduced with immediate effect:
-----------------------
1. The letter 'U' will be reinstated in words such as 'colour,' 'favour,' 'labour' and 'neighbour.' Likewise, you will learn to spell 'doughnut' without skipping half the letters, and the suffix '-ize' will be replaced by the suffix '-ise.' Generally, you will be expected to raise your vocabulary to acceptable levels. (look up 'vocabulary').
------------------------
2. Using the same twenty-seven words interspersed with filler noises such as ''like' and 'you know' is an unacceptable and inefficient form of communication. There is no such thing as U.S. English. We will let Microsoft know on your behalf. The Microsoft spell-checker will be adjusted to take into account the reinstated letter 'u'' and the elimination of '-ize.'
-------------------
3. July 4th will no longer be celebrated as a holiday.
-----------------
4. You will learn to resolve personal issues without using guns, lawyers, or therapists. The fact that you need so many lawyers and therapists shows that you're not quite ready to be independent. Guns should only be used for shooting grouse. If you can't sort things out without suing someone or speaking to a therapist, then you're not ready to shoot grouse.
----------------------
5. Therefore, you will no longer be allowed to own or carry anything more dangerous than a vegetable peeler. Although a permit will be required if you wish to carry a vegetable peeler in public.
----------------------
6. All intersections will be replaced with roundabouts, and you will start driving on the left side with immediate effect. At the same time, you will go metric with immediate effect and without the benefit of conversion tables. Both roundabouts and metrication will help you understand the British sense of humour.
--------------------
7. The former USA will adopt UK prices on petrol (which you have been calling gasoline) of roughly $10/US gallon. Get used to it.
-------------------
8. You will learn to make real chips. Those things you call French fries are not real chips, and those things you insist on calling potato chips are properly called crisps. Real chips are thick cut, fried in animal fat, and dressed not with catsup but with vinegar.
-------------------
9. The cold, tasteless stuff you insist on calling beer is not actually beer at all. Henceforth, only proper British Bitter will be referred to as beer, and European brews of known and accepted provenance will be referred to as Lager. South African beer is also acceptable, as they are pound for pound the greatest sporting nation on earth and it can only be due to the beer. They are also part of the British Commonwealth - see what it did for them. American brands will be referred to as Near-Frozen Gnat's Urine, so that all can be sold without risk of further confusion.
---------------------
10. Hollywood will be required occasionally to cast English actors as good guys. Hollywood will also be required to cast English actors to play English characters. Watching Andie Macdowell attempt English dialect in Four Weddings and a Funeral was an experience akin to having one's ears removed with a cheese grater.
---------------------
11. You will cease playing American football. There is only one kind of proper football; you call it soccer. Those of you brave enough will, in time, be allowed to play rugby (which has some similarities to American football, but does not involve stopping for a rest every twenty seconds or wearing full kevlar body armour like a bunch of nancies).
---------------------
12. Further, you will stop playing baseball. It is not reasonable to host an event called the World Series for a game which is not played outside of America. Since only 2.1% of you are aware there is a world beyond your borders, your error is understandable. You will learn cricket, and we will let you face the South Africans first to take the sting out of their deliveries.
--------------------
13.. You must tell us who killed JFK. It's been driving us mad.
-----------------
14. An internal revenue agent (i.e. tax collector) from Her Majesty's Government will be with you shortly to ensure the acquisition of all monies due (backdated to 1776).
---------------
15. Daily Tea Time begins promptly at 4 p.m. with proper cups, with saucers, and never mugs, with high quality biscuits (cookies) and cakes; plus strawberries (with cream) when in season.
God Save the Queen!0 -
The beer thing about South Africa is soooo true.... We have some of the best in the world. So nice to know that I speak, spell and write the "Queens English"

Good morning, Loungettes!
Hey, Undie, didn't mean to bump you into the pool but I was distracte3d by those hunks over there--drool, drool, oogle oogle , oh, boy do I need one of those dwinkies!
Wahine--you may think you don't remember much, but when there's a crisis I bet it comes back quickly! A lot of stuff has changed in 30 years, but the basics are still the same. I found that drink on the web, it seemed right for us for yesterday!
Goldie--HRH stands for His Royal Highness in this case. It would be for Her Royal Highness if the baby had been a girl. Sadie has already gotten used to having play time when I get home from work. She even comes over to me and nudges the laptop off my lap if I forget!
Juliet--have a good day at work. Didn't go swimming, got drenched in the rain and that was enough for me yesterday!
Cammy--I think there is a bit of killer in every female, Kat just got hers trained! But that's a good asset for the lounge to have!
Wahine--well fitting shoes are a blessing indeed, aren't they? And if they save you from toenail surgery, so much the better! Sounds like that store has all the tools to do a really good job fitting shoes. And it must be happy hour SOMEWHERE!
CunCyn!!!!!! So good to see you back! Sadie and I are doing better now that the heat and humidity have backed off a bit. And Sadie time IS me time, too! I loves playing with my Silly Sadie. Aw, Reece is still handsome!
Karen--So good you and your friend could reconnect! And not having time for drama, that is so true all the way around. Now if I could get some of the drama out of the office. . . .
ORLA--Well, knowing it's nerve pain is a good start. Lyrica is a relatively new medication that is one of the only ones cleared by the FDA for use on nerve pain. The creams that can be concocted often work surprisingly well. The 4 hours in the hospital getting an IV doesn't sound like fun but it if works it may be worth it. But it is good that you have a doc that understands what is going on and has an idea how to help!
BBBBernie--Great letter from the Queen! And great to hear from you!
