CALLING DORA....ATTTENTION DORA....COME IN DORA....NOW READ THIS..... Such good advice from all the girls...please listen to them, your healing is mucho importento right now, REALLY. I mean, come on, you have done so much for your dad, and right now you need to take care of YOU, and only you. This is just too much. OMG what if you hadn't gotten up and found him like that. You really should have called 911, but you did what you thought you could do, and saved him again, but I hope it didn't make your healing take longer. Like the others said, can someone else take him in for a week or two? Just so you can rest more and heal???? I am so sorry for all the chit you are going through, I really am. This is just awful. I do hope your belly button is healing correctly, but if you have all those concerns, can you see the dr again? Just to be on the safe side?

Becks, I love cockatiels, used to hand raise them and sell the tame babies, who were usually talking by then. Hope you can keep it, or find its home. Can you put up a flyer or look in the paper and see if anyone lost it? We have a new website for our neighborhood....actually any neighborhood or subdivision can join, and then you just see your local info. We had someone come soliciting after dark the other night so after telling him to leave, I was able to post on that site and then the other neighbors knew to lookout for him. Also helps for lost pets, things for sale or free, or other announcements. Its called Nextdoor.com.

Dora, please let us know how your dad is doing, ok? We will be gone this ayem taking our furbabies to a new vet. They have an online site too and I noticed they registered Maverick as "Mavzik" and the site won't let me change it! LOL. Then I'll finally get to see DD1 again....its been a week and a half since I visited, trying to let her heal.

WOWSA, just got back from our furbabies new vet. GEEZ LOUISE!!!! Over $600 for the visit today, without buying meds, as we still had heartworm tabs at home. BUT Molly has heartworms....which is so serious, and will be another $1000 or so for treatment, which we won't start till the end of the month. And then to hope it takes care of them. THEN they want to do their teeth, put them out, do xrays, blood workups etc, which will be another over $700 for that. WOW. But they ARE closer than the vet we had gone to for years (who is retiring), and I think it would be that much anywhere. Who said something about dentists and car repair bills being so high, earlier? Lets add vet bills to that list!!!
Thanks for thinking of all of us who are caring for elder parents, Lori. We have a really big Senior Center that also has all sorts of info when that time comes. I am sure my parents could use some help, but getting my dad to admit that would be an act of congress. Actually, our Senior Center is amazing....lots of classes in oil painting, ceramics, chair caning, etc., plus a big exercize studio, they serve meals, have concerts, etc. We used to go to some concerts and actually can take advantage of any classes, as long as you are 55+. Just too busy to go there! The one thats closer to us is very small and doesn't offer much.
OH yes, Lara, there ARE lurkers here. Sometimes girls admit to lurking, before joining our drinking group. But I imagine a lot of people lurk on all the threads without ever joining. So it is good to be careful on what is posted, since it is a public forum. Thats why I asked Cami to remove her phone number when she posted it for you!!!
OK, now to go and see my DD1 and grandkids...haven't cried today....thats a plus!

Hi girls, have t opost quickly as I need to join my dad for our time together at 8pm. Things are looking up today, at least for now. What a difference a day makes.

My dad had an appt that was sheduled months ago with a diabetes specialist. My sister took him and also help me a little with laundry and the dishwasher. The appt went really well and we are very hopeful that things will get better with the ups and down on sugar. First, to back up to Myrtle Beach. His diabetic specialist pretty much told my Dad that he was wasting his time as Dad was not being honest nor eating what he should. At the time, we accepted that. So Dad was getting his insulin from his family doctor and since he has been here, he can get it ovet the counter. Well we were clueless as to the advancements in insulins. It could be the difference in that in SC things are not as advanced or that his specialist was just not up to speed. THe new doctor is a goil, oh that is it, big difference. She switched his insulin around, he will be taking three times a day instead of twice. He only took it in the AM and at dinner before. Then he was supposed to test before bed and take only if needed. This new doctor said it really was not Dad's fault that this is happening. She changes the type of insulin and added a long acting extra shot at dinner to help him prevent the lows that often happen late at night or early morning such as the day I came home for lunch and found him on the bedroom floor passed out. We are so hopeful that things will get better. She was empathetic over his sweets/donut addiction and told him to just add a few cc's more when he eats a lot of sweets. this sound too good to be true but again, we are all hopeful. He does not remember much about last night but it was torturous to me. It has happened so many times. He is a different person when his sugar is so high. The specialist also said this could help with the memory issues. My nephew tol dus that when our primary care doctor did the memory test, that my Dad was joking around and laughing. And this behavior is common when his sugar is low, he acts like a drunk. He was so pathetic last night and I pray that I never have to see him like that again. My sister does not want to accept that he has severe dimensia. I do have a glimmer of hope with that, it can't hurt.
I am also feeling better today. I thought I had taken a dose of pain meds when I woke up and found my dad on the toilet. Turns out that I took the pill out but left it on my counter top and never took it which explains the pain. I have an appt with my PS on Wed morning to folllow up but I feel alot better today. Of course, the worst pain comes at night. But I had a nice shower and also washed my hair today and it was not that bad. As for the infections, it just might be normal to have the puss and such. It looks good in the AM but seems that the shower makes the black scabs open and the pussy stuff is under them. The redness is a little better today to. Well I gotta fly but am hopeful to address you all later this evening at Karen's lampshade partay. I am so there.
But FYI Karen, this is a voycheryl partay so you have mese JD and diet in de house and you has ebery brand of likker we want, kk? I love you all berry much. Here is my lampshade. HOpe to see you all dere!

Becks, glad your sister wants to keep the cockatiel. What do you mean though, that it has a flat face? Hope its ok! And I used to have my birds wings clipped at the avian vet. Was too chicken to do it myself. BUT always kept "styptic powder" on hand for anytime they might break a blood feather. They don't have much blood (as you prolly know) and can't afford to lose much, so that powder stops it. I love cockatiels but don't miss the messy cages! We used to have 4 BIG cages in the house and that was a job to clean them.
Party time.....and omg I am smelling some cookies baking now.....yummmmmmmmmmm!
