Dara, so sorry about your dad’s passing. May his memory be for a blessing.

Nancy, I’m kinda partial to that last dress--the bolero makes it very versatile.

Jazzy, the Greek Islands to which Cami (an Illinois gal) and I were referring is a famous restaurant in the heart of Chicago’s Greektown neighborhood near the U of I’s Chicago campus (and nearby medical district).

And I am a retired (I prefer to say “recovering”) lawyer. When asked if there’s a 12-step program for that, I tell people “Yes, but by the time you get my bill it’s 47 steps.” Before my husband’s Spring-Summer Surgical Adventures and then my bc dx, I was a touring performing singer-songwriter (solo and in a duo called Andina & Rich). Now that my surgery & rads are behind me, I’m slowly getting back to touring. PM me for a link to my website, which has my gig schedule. (If I list it here I might be violating BCO rules).

I was thinking about Dara today. That she had not been here much since the big cruise. That is such sad news to hear about her dad.

Dara, my deepest sympathy on the loss of your father. Hugs from across the miles.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Twofer Tuesday!Good day at work yesterday, if a long one.Pretty day, though.Nice one for driving around.

Cammy--you better get your taxes done ASAP, don't want you away from the Lounge very long!

Goldie--yes, I know the knee can get worse.Yes, I will get it looked at this week. And it has been awfully quiet in here recently.

Jazzy--here's hoping for a productive but not crazy week!

Collett--$65 a head?Yikes!Tickets would have to be pretty high to make any profit on that one.Pretty dresses!I'd be hard put to pick just one.

    Dara--Oh my dear, I am so praying for you and your Daddy.So hard to lose your Dad, I know.{{{{{hugs}}}}}

    Chi--a "recovering" lawyer--what a way to describe it!And you aresinger/performer?Multitalented!

Nancy, the dresses are gorgeous. I think you should try each one on, take a pic and post for us to vote! Gladyour DD is coming around. Now you know you must fuss equally between the two girls.

Sandi, I had a dress with a bolero for my step daughters wedding. It did make it nice, on for being a bit cooler and off when the hot flashes came! I don't think listing your website would be against any rules. I have put mine on here. No problem. You just can't promote products. I did that once, we were selling organic/open pollinated seeds, and the mods took it down.

NM, glad you had a good day and pretty one at that. As we know, mud season is just around the corner for you. I hope that DOTD will bring Dara in. After all, it has some Jack in it.

    Julie, how's your arm doll?

Going out today to our hygienist's house. She got a new laptop and needs help with it. Actually wish I didn't have to go, as I have so much here to do. We leave on Thursday. My DD actually got her summons sent. Used DHL and is just sending it to the DHL in Cambodia with the GF to pick it up there. Fingers crossed that this works.

Hi girls, I read a little, too far behind to catch up. No real reason for my absence, just haven't been picking up my computer much. DH has been home and I've been working more hours and I joined the fitness center again and have been swimming. My foot is messed up from tendonitis and the doctor suggested it. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. DH out of town this morning and I'm sitting in bed drinking my coffee and have the day off. Pooches are starting to get restless tho, sleeping in is not in their make-up. We had Nora last weekend, she is talking up a storm, you can have an actual conversation with her now. We took her to a trampoline place on Sunday for "toddler time". She was all excited when I told her where we were going and she said "Papa dress me". So I gave DH her clothes and he got her all dressed and put her shoes on and she announced "I am so cute!" Ha! We cracked up! And every time I tell her "NO" she gets this big pout and says, "but why Yaya?" We've had some nice weather here, snow is melted, DH even golfed on Sunday.

Nancy, sounds like weddings and racing are going to keep you plenty busy. Did you ever get approved for disability? Dresses are pretty!

Lori, glad to hear your labs work was ok. And the occasional 2 week break sounds good. Looking forward to getting together again during your next visit with your mom. Hopefully we'll get to. Ugh, so sorry about your daughter and the divorce, it seems if your DH is in a Cambodian jail for murder, or any jail for murder that a divorce should just be granted. Sure hope the GF cooperates, seems she'd want that divorce to go thru.

Cami, snuggling time and scary movies with Joey sounds nice. So sorry about you D, just sucks that you have to live your life around it.

NM, SO sorry about your knee, hope you can get the swelling down and it's nothing serious. I didn't read all the way back but looks like maybe you were having car problems? Anyway, hope work is going ok and altho I know I don't have to tell you, ice, elevate, ibuprofen. Hope you get it healed up, so hard to put up with this joint stuff when we have to be on our feet.

hsant, weather has been pretty good, is the snow all melted your way? Sounds like we may get another round in a few days but spring is around the corner... I've seen several mallards around, a good sign! Will you be going back to CA in the spring?

So sad about Dara's dad, hope she's coping alright.

Would love to address everyone but have to get these pooches out, hi to everyone I missed, I'll try to be better about popping in to the lounge. Hope everyone has a good day, love to all!!

Happy Hump Day, Loungettes! The snow has started here, supposed to "improve" and change over to rain.Personally, I'd rather it stayed all one type of precipitation, that's easier to deal with.

Goldie--yup, mud season is coming.Soon, it's already soft in a lot of places.I really think mud season is worse than winter sometimes! Praying the DHL thing works out for DD.

Cammy-- at least you have something to keep in touch with us with! Now do your taxes! How'd Leslie do on the exam?I'm betting she did just fine.

Genny--good reasons to be away, life going on.Nora is so funny! Sounds like she started the "Why?" stage, which can be crazy and fun.One of the wheels almost came off my car one day, but now it's all fixed and running fine. The way I figure it there isn't much more that can happen to Jeep, so now I can concentrate on paying it off.

    Cammy--Yeah to Leslie!

Good morning friends- I hope everyone is doing well. Busy as always, but not as crazed as I have been the past few weeks.

Cami- congrats on finishing the taxes. I love that you still use a fax.......

NM- how is the knee doing?

Genny- Miss Nora is truly adorable, or Anorable as you say (love that spin on words). Are those some mardi gras beads she is wearing in the top photo?

Goldie- I hope you were able to help your friend with her laptop. Because I work with IT systems, I get asked by people all the time why their computer is not working? I do the "big systems work" and not a PC specialist, but have helped a few people to trouble shoot their connectivity issues. I have a computer store in town and home office networking guy I use for the things I cannot do.

Dara- thinking of you this week and praying everything goes well with the services. Just nothing easy about loosing a beloved parent

We had a blast of winter return here yesterday with a storm that blew in and brought snow to NM. Going to be warming up again towards the weekend.

Will pop in again this weekend. Until then, lubs you all!

OMG Mary, I just want to steal her. And oh she is right, she is cute. Too cute. She has to be so much fun. And I love the name Ya Ya.

Cami, your DD just doesn't give herself credit. Good job on the test. Hopefully getting a job will come easy. Also hoping your "boss" turned in your test (taxes)!

NM, I too hope sending the papers DHL works as well. My DD was told that as long asshe gets a receipt that they were delivered, that is all she needs. Of course it would be nice if they would just sign and send them back. We'll see. How is office baby's mom doing? Altho I forget what happened.

Jazzy, we got her email set up, but not positive it's working. Setting her up with something to sell on Ebay, and taught her a few things. One thing that gets in the way, is she's used to working on a Mac. The snow missed us. Just got a tad chilly than the 70's we have been having. So not complaining. It's the darn wind we get that I hate. But even that hasn't been too bad. Thank goodness, as I sneeze up a storm when it does. The juniper trees are loaded with pollen right now.

Be leaving tomorrow. First stop Laughlin, spend the night and then leave Friday morning for CA. Stay one night there, leave Sat. morning for Vegas. Leave Sun. with Sue for the night and back to hotel on Mon. And home Tuesday. I'll check in when I can. I have internet on my phone. But I'm not posting it from it! I may read tho.

    Hump Hump Hump!

This is what a Juniper tree looks like in a gust of wind. That is pollen you see, not smoke!

    Good (almost) afternoon!

Goldie, thank you for filling me in to all the amazing ladies on this thread. Your irrigation business is so interesting. I would think being in Arizona, it would be very lucrative. I would also think you get a lot of business in CA. How nice that you work with your husband! My husband and I would kill each other if we worked together.

Also, thanks for the FU pill education. In my sick and twisted head, I thought it was slang for f**k you pills, because of the harsh side effects. It's great to know that there are chemo options that didn't exist ten years ago.

Ok, with respect to your beautiful, amazing daughter, she can't acquire an address to deliver divorce papers to her (soon to be ex) husband? It sounds very complicated. Getting divorced in the states sucks, but it seems like this is unnecessarily complicated for your daughter.

Cami, how wonderful that you not only have a great husband, but a fantastic daughter and grandson. I bet he loves snuggling with his grandma. How is your husband's leg? It sounds very painful. Btw, my job is pretty boring and uneventful. I loved my career, but it's notexciting.

Jazzy, Sisters are THE BEST! You are obviously very proud of yours. What is your sis's specialty with respect to medicine? Mmm.... The Waldorf. I'm picturing robes and room service☺️. I think we may have posted at the same time. I'm not familiar with No Curfew, but I love me some red blends. Sounds like a perfect wine to serve at a party/social gathering.

At the risk of sounding stupid, are you responsible for setting up the Hospital portals? I love being able to log in and get information regarding surgery, path reports, etc.

NM, How is your leg? Have you seen the doctor? Loved your divorce drink! However, I think if I were going thru a divorce, I would nix the ginger ale and just swig out of the wild berry Schnapps bottle.:) My father does not have dementia. Thank God! His short term memory is better than mine, and he still has his brilliant, analytical mind. However, he thinks he's cognitely impaired. It's complicated, but he practiced internal medicine for almost fifty years, and he's very caught up in being 87. Sometimes I think knowledge isn't power and ignorance is bliss.

Genny, the weather on the east side has been beautiful the past few days. No snow! But we have rain that's supposed to turn into snow later today. Nora is so darling! Is she your niece

    Another ginger recipe:

    5 INGREDIENT GINGER BEER MARGARITAS

    image

    PRINT FRIENDLY VERSIONPrep time

    5 mins

    Total time

    5 mins

5-Ingredient margaritas made with ginger beer and fresh lime juice! Simple, flavorful and so delicious. The only margarita recipe you'll ever need.

    Author: Minimalist Baker

    Recipe type: Beverage

    Cuisine: Mexican

    Serves: 1

    Ingredients
    • 1.5 ounces (3 Tablespoons) 100% agave tequila (such as Altos)
    • 1 ounce (2 Tbsp) fresh lime juice
    • 3 ounces (6 Tbsp) ginger beer
    • .5 ounce (1 Tbsp) simple syrup
    • Coarse salt for lining rim
    Instructions
    1. Line a small serving glass with fresh lime juice and dip in coarse salt (optional).
    2. Add tequila, simple syrup, ginger beer and lime juice to a large glass or cocktail shaker with 1/2 cup ice and stir vigorously. Don't shake with a lid on or it will erupt from the ginger beer carbonation (lesson learned).
    3. Pour liquid (reserving ice) into serving glass with a few ice cubes (we just ordered this oversized ice cube moldand LOVE it). Garnish with a lime wedge and serve immediately. Repeat for more drinks, or double/triple the amounts for more people.

Hsant, Cami is not married, that is her SIL (son in law) DD (dear daughter) and her GS (grandson) that she lives with. Unfortunately, my DD's husband is in prison in Cambodia. He has a girlfriend with him there, and she has a daughter. She has told my DD that she is staying out of it, and letting "the husband" take care of it. Soooooo, my DD was told if she serves him, and gets confirmation of the delivery of the summons, would be enough, and divorce will be granted on abandonment. She has sent the papers, they were in Germany this morning. I just hope it's all true, and that it can happen this way. So she can be free and he can move on with his life as well. As for the pills, they ARE called FU pills, but I prefer that they mean exactly what you thought and the reason I call them FU pills. It's like FU cancer! They are actually called Xeloda or Capecitabine.

Jazzy, I always thought the snow helped tame things a bit and keep the pollen from just floating around. Same with the rain. So far I have been too terribly bad. Have not had to get the turkey baster out, and my face doesn't hurt!

    Morning DahhhhLinks!!

Dara - I am so so sorry for the loss of you dad. Although he's gone you will hold many, many fond memories of him and the times you had together.. ((((Dara))))

Lowee this is the biggest size using the cntr +. It looks normal to me. But I'll try enlarging thru settings before I post. Sounds like you and I having basically the same weather. I used to tether my cell phone but know I'm sharing time/minutes with DH so can't use it. Getting tooo furcited to see you in a few days. Holy Moly, that pollen would jake up everyones sinuses…ggeeezzzz no wonder u suffer from allergens.

Drove into StGeorge yest and got the taxes done and sent electronically. Return monies will be automatically into our savings account. My son did show up, 1st time he's met his tax lady in 4 or 5 years. But we left him to do it himself and we headed home. DS came by on his way back to CA, nice visit and relieved all this is done.

Julie - good news on the mammo and the pt, so glad its working. I've got to do more pt on my left shoulder that I blew in water-aerobics. You'd think u couldn't hurt urself in da pewl, but trust me you can.

Cami - YAY Les passed her tests, I know how stressful it can be, tell her Congrats for me!! Sorry that D is being a pita, I pray for ya a lot that somehow you find a remedy. ((Cami))

Jazzy - that hotel sounds familiar, like in a lot of movies n such. Yes, I am retired from LV's Metro (police & sheriff deps) I was a dispatcher/911 call taker, 1-1 trainer, academy instructor and retired as a supervisor after 20 yrs. Then we moved to MT and I was a bartender/food server for 4 years. Next move was to Elko, NV were I worked 3 yrs as Asst Director in their 911 center. Back to LV where I worked for a countrywide 911 instruction company. Traveled all over the states teaching vital 911 subjects. Now we're in Mesq, NV where I worked as a bartender until bc got me. Also been working for my son, keeping his books etc. Too much stress on me now so he is going to take it over….thank goodness.

NM - I echo the advice from the other gals. But I also don't want any tests on my shoulder cuz then I might have to do something about and I don't wanna….

Nancy - I'll say some prayers that the house hunting goes well. YIKES $65 a head….I'd keep looking at other venues. Those are beautiful dresses, hope u find a nice one in navy. And I like the idea of u in the dresses, so we can help with ur decision.

Sandy - I think it's so cool you are so musically inclined. I am not. Tried the violin in grade school. Hated it. And I can't sing either. LOL on being a recovering lawyer, LOL. If you ever get a performance in line somewhere in LV, be sure to let me know, I will come see u.

Mary - LOL'd on little aNorable, she is a doll that for sure. I kno they can where you out, but in a fun way usually.

    lubslubslubslubs all my gals!!

Hi girls, it's Monday here cause I work Wed-Sat so my hump day is Friday morning. Pouring like crazy this morning so pooches went to doggie daycare, first time in ages. So nice to get home and not have to walk them tonight.

NM, mud season here all week, I've had to give the dogs daily baths, almost makes me wish the ground would freeze. Glad the car problems seem to be behind you, knocking on wood that it stays that way. I'm for 1 kind of weather too, we are having rain now, freezing tonight then snow by morning, then 40's this weekend...all in all we've had a heck of a nice winter, remember all the snow you had last winter?

Cami, woohoo for Marty! Hope she finds her dream job soon, I always thought it would be nice to be the esthetician in a plastic surgeon or dermatologist office, then I could get discount botox and stuff. Hope no headache tonight and hope you got that tax chit outta the way.

hsant, the weather has been pretty incredible, DH golfed again last weekend. Glad to hear your dad is in such great shape, sounds like he is way ahead of the curve for his age even if he's not able to really appreciate it. I've never had much of a memory, short or long term, prolly would take awhile for people to notice if I got dementia. Nora is my granddaughter, my son's daughter. She was born 1 month before my dx, makes her extra special to me because I just want to watch her grow up, gave me a lot of motivation in those early months.

Lori, that pic of the juniper and pollen is amazing! Hope the sob sil signs the papers and your DD can get this divorse w/o too much grief. Have fun with SuxieQ in Vegas.

Jazzy, Nora is wearing St Patrick Day beads and mardi gras beads, also 2 bracelets and my earrings that I looped on the top of her ear.

OK girls, I started this a few hours ago, now I'm so tired I can't see my typing. Love to all and hi to everyone I missed

Hsant- I have not ever worked on a patient portal, although I did work on a project that was involved with setting up a payment portal for paying outstanding statements on line. I tend to work on the money side of healthcare vs. patient care, although my current project does impact providers. I had four doctors on my project call last week, lucky me!

My sister is focused on internal medicine and is a number of years older than me and going to retire next year. Although I think she may pick up something on a PT basis because she likes working. She has also done a lot of work in infectious disease too.

So we are developing out the Waldorf "splurge" trip and now working on airfare. I think we are all going to be able to score some plane tix using FF points, which is good. My birthday is in about a month and told my sister to skip the gift (or usually cash) I get, and that I want to go to the Blue Note in the village for a birthday celebration this fall. Cami will know of the Blue Note, place of some of the best jazz in the city and in some respects, the whole US. I went once for a jazz brunch and it was so awesome!

A trip challenge we are working through is around some expectations of others when we go back east. Not sure if this happens to any of you, but we have people in our sphere who think just because you are in the greater area (northeast for us), you will go visit them even if you are states away. Usually includes people who either don't or can't travel for any number of reasons, but expect you will make the effort to visit them. I told my sister I have taken two trips to family events in the past two years, but want a "real vacation" to NYC, which means not being expected to go visit people when we are back there. She agrees and said the way to avoid this is to not tell people in advance we are going. So I have to be super careful to just not spill the beans in casual conversation with folks back there!

Work has been crazy this week and today was super nuts. I am hoping I will survive this week. I am ready for that vacation NOW!

Cami, you must be in the far south ‘burbs or even SE of that--I’m here in the city, on the N. lakefront about 2 mi. s. of the border with Evanston. We got two waves of snow. The first, around noon, stuck on the deck, trees and grass and then melted by 1 pm. We got some more about 4 pm, but it stuck only on the grass and looked pretty It’s gone too.

MemaSue, we actually have a timeshare in the HGV property on the n. end of the Strip--we use the points to stay at the Elara (much nicer) and this coming summer, to spend 3 days at a villa in rural Tuscany. There’s not much of a folk music scene in the Las Vegas area--the club I played once, the Mermaid Lounge out east along Durango, went under years ago. I’m always open to doing house concerts, though!

Bob didn’t have to stay overnight in Oak Lawn--but his Cooper’s Hawk Winery dinner was canceled by the drug company, whose featured speaker couldn’t fly in because of snow further south. So he stopped at our neighborhood Italian restaurant and brought home linguine frutta di mare (clams, mussels, scallops, shrimp, calamari). He wanted to open the Etna Rosso we brought home from Sicily, but it would have clashed violently. I promised to make pappardelle alla Bolognese (meat sauce) next week to go with it. So tonight I chilled a bottle of Mumm Cuvee Napa Brut Rose Reserve, which went very well with the seafood.

Good morning girls, light snow on the ground, supposed to get more later but as usual I think hsant is going to get the brunt of it. I have to take the pooches for their morning walk and I don't want to do it, ah well, they do keep me moving.

Jazzy, your vacay sounds nice, hope your plans fall together. I have a sister-in-law that lives in Jacksonville and thinks anytime we are south of SC we should get together. I even heard about it when I went down for the cruise, she thought I should have let her know so we could meet for lunch since I was in Orlando. I try never to let her know anything about us going south until we get back home.

Sandy, last nights dinner sound yummy! Tuscany is on my bucket list, please share pics when you go next.

DH and I are taking a vacay in April, we are gong to Sedona AZ for 6 days, staying in a condo on a golf course. Never been there, can't wait. Gotta run now, habe to tend to the pooches, have a good day everybody!

Good Morning, Loungettes!Woke up to thunder and lightning this ayem.Started as snow yesterday, changed to rain, and is supposed to rain heavily at times today.Gonna be a wet day!

Jazzy--knee is still swollen and sore but not as bad, hoping to get done work at a reasonable time so I can hit a walk in care center today or tomorrow.

Goldie-- Office Baby's Mom is back to work on light duty--minimal driving, no lifting. We're keeping her in the office for now with a very occasional local visit. She gets tired pretty quickly still, has gone home early a couple of times.I'm really surprised how fast she came back to work.Wow, that Juniper is putting out some serious pollen! That would make a snake sneeze!

Cammy--the only reason we seem to know so much is that we learn from each other!Together we are an expert in just about anything!Sadie says "Woof" as she tries to climb into my lap to tell me there is more thunder and lightning going on.

Hsant--The schnapps and ginger ale sounds really good!I'm trying to make sure the DOTDs have some Jack for Dara this week. That's her fav and my way of showing support. The rule here in the Lounge is that you can alter any drink any way you want--no ever has to drink something they don't like or not drink something they do! I've had a trainee with me this week, so no down time and some long days.Hoping for a day getting off "on time" before the walk in care closes today or tomorrow. Your Dad sounds a bit like my Mom, who is absolutely obsessed about not having Alzheimer's Disease, or "Old Timer's" as she calls it.

    Hsant--Yummy Margarita recipe!

Mema--Hooray for taxes being done, I need to do that this weekend.I think I don't' want to really know what's going on with the knee, either, but it's time to find out before it becomes a major problem.

Cammy--Hooray for taxes info being sent in!Boo, hiss on the problems. No wonder you write them!

Genny--I do remember all the snow last year, this year has been much better that way, and not as cold overall. It's a real roller coaster ride this year.

Jazzy--I can see why it would be good not to tell too many, or certain people about the trip ahead of time. It's really heard when people do not understand the travel time and distances involved when they don't travel themselves.

Chi--Too bad the dinner had to be cancelled.Sounds like a really nice meal anyway!

    Princess Leia of Maine's DOTD:

    Flaming Huscroft Drink

    2 oz Jack Daniels

    1 oz Beer

    1 oz Vodka

    1/4 oz Everclear

    1/2 oz Spiced Rum

    24 Ice

    4 oz Soda Water

    1 oz Mountain Dew

    Directions

Throw all in a glass and ignite. When flame goes down, chug but make sure you have a chaser, or you're in trouble.

Best served in a Beer Mug.

Sue, the enlarging is just on your screen. So the user can see his or her screen larger. I don'tknow how to change the font for our thread. Be seeing you in just a few days….whoot whoot!

Cami, how horrible that you have been dealing with this tax issue for long. But glad they aren'tcalling your DD anymore. How much snow did you get? Maybe a day home with Joey???

Mary, crazy weather everyone is having. Your son needs to have another baby. They make such cute ones! I know MI is got a ton of snow, did it reach you? The first time I saw the trees do that, it looked like there was fire. It took me a bit to figure out what the heck was going on! Sedona is pretty, and be sure to check out Jerome. Will you have a car? You will be about 4 hours from me!!!!

Jazzy, I hope you get to make it to the Blue Note. Can't blame you for not wanting to take time to visit others. Can you just keep it a total secret? I know that happened with Mary and a family member when she went on the cruise.

I see she already explained that! I hadn't gone to the next page. I read on person's post and reply, go to the next and so on.

Oh Cami, I see you and Joey don't get a snow day.

NM, good news on your co-worker being back to work. I did not take that picture of the tree. But no joke, it gets like that here. And there are a ton of Junipers around me! I hope you will be able to make it to the clinic.

Talked with my DD this morning, the papers arrived in Cambodia. It's evening there now, so the GF will pick them up tomorrow. Hopefully she can get them signed and returned to my DD. I guess the GF is afraid if she tries to mail it back, that it will get lost in Cambodian mail. Maybe if she takes a picture of it first and makes a copy to keep for herself. I hope this works for my DD. She has done so much running, and she works so much. She was cleaning one of her villa's the other day, and the dad was outside going through a childs hair for lice!!!! She picked up a new villa to clean, check it out! http://www.mareastjohn.com/They don't have their rates posted, but my DD says she thinks it's like $50,000. 00 a week. YES I said 50 thousand!
