Hi everyone, Just wanted to share a post that CasinoGirl (Donna) started, about ordering a pink rose for $10 to be put into a huge rose bouquet for AlaskaDeb! There are already over 160 pink roses ordered from ladies here, and also Channel 2 News in Anchorage is coming tomorrow to interview the florist (who also went to school with AlaskaDeb), and talk about Deb and this tribute from the bc.org gals! They also will have a big card with names of everyone who bought a rose, and where they are from. Here is the post that Donna started (hope you don't mind me quoting you here!)...

"I saw earlier today that Deb's service will be Sat Jan 31 at the Soldotna Bible Chapel.

I am sending a single pink rose vase and thought perhaps others might like to do so as well.

I just ordered one from Tammy's Flower's & Gifts (in Soldotna AK)  and was assisted by Rachel.

I "warned" Rachel that she may get lots of calls ordering single pink rose vases for Deborah Clonan's service.  Rachel already knew the service is Sat at the Soldotna Bible Chapel.

The cost of the rose, vase & delivery is $26.  BUT - Traci called after I did, and found out that for $10 you can buy a single rose that will be added to a huge bouquet (probably several bouquets, I understand there are over 100 single roses so far).  Thanks Traci for finding out about the $10 rose so more can participate if they want to.

If anyone else is interested, the florist phone number is 907-260-5355.

I will also post this info on the Circle thread.

    Donna "

Donna, thanks sooooo much for thinking of this great tribute!!! Just added my rose too.

Thanks so much Wahine for sharing that.  I haven't been on the board regularly for a while and was stunned to hear of Deb's passing.  A flower tribute is beautiful.  It will show her whole town how deeply she touched complete strangers.

Cheers, Deb.  This one is for you.

The video on AlaskaDeb is amazing....channel 2 in Anchorage did a great story...will bring tears to your eyes. I propose we have a toast in honor of Deb and all the lives she touched. In fact, I will buy a round for everyone, and we can all toast at once! So, belly up to bar and lets celebrate the amazing example that Deb showed in her wit, courage, and inspiration.

I hope everyone that lost power is ok, and that power was restored. Junie, hope you are doing ok, and you are not cold, but your ML is nice and chilled!

Kathy - I agree channel 2 did an awesome tribute to Deb.

I think Deb would be honored for us to all toast to her.  She probably has a blue drink in her hand right now, just waiting  LOL.

She was one tough cookie, that's for sure, but still managed to find wit and humor in the midst of it all.

Junie - you stay warm, you hear?  I'm sure you have a good supply of ML to help you get through the storm.

    Cheers,

    Donna

trying to post from yet another strange computer!   We turned tail and fled after freezing for almost 3 days.   Last thing I did before we lost power was get Deb's pink rose ordered.   Was so glad!   Per calls back home, power is now restored, but we decided to stay in Kansas City and visit family and catch a couple Super Bowl parties--plan to head home Monday--Bob drained pipes and shut off water--hopefully, no burst pipes are waiting for us.   I am too old for all this weather-related stress!  Hmmmmm--gotta go rescue some beer from the car in a few minutes and get it chilling down.

Have been able to follow some of the wonderful tributes to Deb--sure wish I was home on my own 'puter!!!

Big HUGGGSSSSSS to all...what a great community we have here!

     Bottoms UP!!!

    On a lighter note - I am drinking a Cab - Leese-Fitch I think it's a CA cab.  It's a good bottle o' wine for $12.

Back home--finally!!   So nice to have lights and heat.  But, what a mess!   Front yard covered with downed limbs--have call in to our tree guy--he'll get here when he can!   One burst pipe--plumber was coming today, but called and said, tomorrow!  Ask me how I like living in the boonies!!!  s i g h !!!  BUT, tomorrow getting suitcases out of storage locker and start packing for Jamaica, come hell or high water or ice or snow!!!   ..hey, Mon, I'm outta here!!!

Sat in on a wine-tasting at a super bowl party--5 whites, 5 reds--cannot give you one name I drank, but was totally trashed by the end of the game!   Even had on my 3-D specs for the commercial--I couldn't see the TV!!!!   Thank you, I'll stick with my ML!!!

Donna, gentle hugs to you!   It is always so hard to lose one of our cyber sisters, and especially hard when we've gone to a get-together and met them...you had the privilege to meet Deb and I remember our getting choked up when you and I met in Tulsa and were talking about her...

bone crushing or gentle hugs to all who need one--and, next round's on me!!!!

Yes junie....Have a GREAT time! You'll be saying "We Be Jammin" and "Yah Mon" before long! Enjoy all that all-inclusive alcohol for all of us....like I had to encourage you...lol. The first time we went to Jamaica, and got t-shirts (about 12-13 yrs ago), is when my DH started calling me "WeBe", from all the "We Be Jammin"....and he STILL calls me that, all the time. I am used to it, except when he calls me from across a store...then I cringe...lol. But its when he calls me "Kathy" that I know he is upset about something. We'll be thinking of you having lots of fun!

    Bottoms Up,

    Kathy

    Hey Buds!!!

I've been on the wagon due to being sick (a sinus infection gone wrong!) but soon will make up for lost time I'm sure! Tongue out

My current fave is Highland Park scotch, 18 years. It can be found in the States but can be obtained in Scotland for much less, so I'm stocking up on it the next time I'm there!

Thinking of all of you and hope your weather is as nice as mine is - we've gone from frozen tundra to spring, seemingly overnight!

    Cheers!

Hi Stormy, Hope you are doing okay! Maybe when junie gets back she can let us know what drinks were available at her resort in Jamaica. Sounds like you need a strong drink right now...so....here's one for you!

Hi jaybird, yikes---sorry to hear about that sinus infection, but glad you are among us again! I am not a scotch drinker but sounds like you found something good. Yeah, our weather was around 10 degrees a few days ago, and was 72 today--go figure! But we may get severe weather tomorrow--not good to get these warm temps in February, here. Sure enjoyed the weather today....boy was it nice!

I almost started drinking this morning---had a certified letter that a lien would be put on our house, and we would be sued----WTH!!! Turns out that the 38 yr old roofing company that did our roof in November, failed to pay for the materials! Glad we had kept all of our records of having pd for it in full, but DH had to make several phone calls to straighten it out. They wanted several thousand dollars---but now will send us a letter saying they were in error. So, girls, be sure to save ALL your receipts, checks, charges, when you pay for a service that is done on your house. Seems like everyone is "sue crazy" these days....guess the bad economy is making it worse. But it sure was a scare. We are working on our condo since the tenant moved out, and having to redo every room...so usually have a couple of beers before we leave, after a long day. Today the installers were putting down hardwood floors, so we had a "break" and I could be home with my beloved Seagrams/Diet Coke....yummmmmmm!!!

What is everyone's drink of choice??? I know junie's is Miller Lite, and jaybird loves discovering great wines all over the world, and other liquors. I also love mango margaritas, pina coladas, beer and wine....besides my seagrams/diet...not much I don't like!

Wanted to buy everyone a drink, but can't find that bartender....where did he go? lol. Hope everyone is doing well....Cheers!!!

Jaybird - I hope by now you are feeling better and can join us at the bar.

Kathy - That had to put a huge knot in your stomach when you got that letter. Glad everything worked out. I couldn't find the bartender either, so I sent noticed that we fired him. Got us a new one! And is he CUTE, check out those abs.

Junie - I hope you are having the time of your life. We want to see pictures when you get back.

Donna - Get the bar set up, I'll be there Monday evening. Might be my last trip there, so we HAVE to get together. I'll have to make sure I have your number in my phone.

Hope all of you ladies have a wonderful Valentines Day. I am enjoying the dozen of bright pink roses that I received and the "new" bartender is buying us all a drink, sooooooo.....belly up ladies!

Lori, Thanks for finding us that new, CUTE bartender! Boy, is he attentive...lol. And for him to buy us all drinks too...well that sure does make it a wonderful Valentines Day!!! I asked DH not to get me flowers, as we are leaving on Wednesday to spend 2 wks in Hawaii and I wouldn't be able to enjoy them...so took him shopping yesterday and picked out several pieces of portuguese pottery that I am collecting, and just said that he could get all of those for me for Valentines Day! Of course he couldn't say no..that was sneaky, huh! Funny thing is that we were just in Portugal a few days ago, and those same pieces are much more expensive there. Go figure.

I hope everyone here at the bar has a very special Valentines Day. Enjoy those beautiful pink roses for us, Lori!

    Hugs,

    Kathy

Well I'm new to this forum, but not to drinking LOL Nice to meet all of you. They say one glass of red wine is good for you but 2 or 3 glasses are really really bad for you and can contribute to recurrence......that's why I stick with 5 servings a day

Welcome to the bar Ann, its truely the best virtual bar you will ever attend. The patrons are the BEST!

Hunky, I'm not much of wine drinker, but if I do drink it, I like white. Pretty much a beer drinker. Will have a rum and coke once in awhile. When visiting my family in MI a year and a half ago, my brother made me a Mimosa (?) That was really good!

"Underpants", set me up with one of those new special drinks. What's in it? Does it cure cancer? Ooooooh, how nice would that be? And don't forget the butter on the popcorn.

Leaving tomorrow for OK, sure hoping to hook up with Casino Girl while I am there. Hoping to be back towards the end of the week with good news (no mor cancer)

    Cheers Girls

    Hi drinkin'  buds~

Welcome Ann!  Love your "5 servings a day" theory!

Junie - you still in Jamaica mon?

Lori - so you'll be here tonight?  Be sure and call me or I'll call you.  Tonight isn't good for me, but tomorrow is - let's get together and have a drink or two or so....maybe we can even have dinner.

I loves my wine.  And vodka.  And rum.  Like you said Kathy, not much I don't like.  Not an ameretto fan....don't like anything very sweet, oh - and don't like gin....but I make up for it with with all the other stuff I DO like LOL.

    Cheers,

    Donna

    Hi everyone!

Having "Happy Hour" right now, so the bar is really busy! "Underpants" (does his name mean that he only wears underpants???) has been running back and forth trying to refill all our drinks....guess thats how he keeps in shape...LOL. Oh and that popcorn...so yummy and the entire bar smells like popcorn, so how can we resist?

Lori and Donna....hope you both have a great time getting together...remember to think of us when you are enjoying your drink(s)!

Yeah Donna, I am not really a gin drinker either, although I did consume plenty of it in my younger years...and also sloe gin...remember that? Wonder if its even around anymore. But I do like sweet drinks.

Stormy, that mixed drink that underpants made was so delicious...but so potent too!

Hope junie is having a ball in Jamaica...should be home soon...and then I'll be in Hawaii on Wednesday.

    Cheers everyone!

hey, mon!   Greetings to all--landed late last night at local airport just ahead of big storm--landed during really scary flashes of lightening--managed to deplane before the big winds hit--I will remember that landing; the subsequent torrential downpour, wind, hail, and being scared out of my mind more than the wonderful vacation we had......Donna, hope you didn't blow away!!!!

We had a lovely vacation.   I don't much like champagne, but did get real used to having a couple of Mimosas each morning with breakfast....and did get real used to finishing breakfast about the time one of the bars opened up so would go there for a couple Bloody Mary's......then, find room, put on swim suit and go to nearest pool and drink Real Rock beer until it was time to go eat lunch--then have more beer and wine--then to room for Bob's nap and I'd sit on patio gazing at the ocean and drinking what was in the mini-fridge.......then, off to bar for pre-dinner drinks, on to dinner with more drinks, back to bar after dinner.................

.........and, yes--I thought about you all every time I ordered a drink--except one time.........found out later the pretty, multi-colored shot was a "Bob Marley"   Full of rums and other stuff and knocked me right out of the universe!!!!

Anyways, glad to be back home and glad the bar here is open--pulling up my chair and think I'll stay for a good long while!!!!

Don't look now, but I think Underpants is pitching a tent. I said don't look! OK, OK, drop your car keys then lean over to pick them off the floor, but don't be obvious. Now, peek thru the side of your hair (or wig) with your left eye while you're on your way back up to the stool. Did you see it? I think we have some serious wood for the fire tonight. Who's got a match?

ROTFLMFAO! Too funny Ann! Laughing so hard, I missed "IT". *dropping my keys again* OH YEAH, there it is.............WOOOOOO HOOOOOO! Now that's worth a toast!

Junie, sounds like you had a wonderful time, I am so glad and welcome back.

Kathy, Have a wonderful time in Hawaii. I will be heading there in the fall to get married.

Donna, I so had a wonderful a time with you, thank you. I sure wish we lived closer. Definetly be hitting up those biker bars, or any bar for that matter. I did end up staying a little longer. They ran some tests on my kidney. Ultra sound and pet scan. Suppose to have a phone consult with my doctor tomorrow. Got the results from my mamo with clean results, NED! So who wants to crawl in that tent and get "Underpants" up so he can fix us all a drink, as I feel a great need to celebrate! Oh yeah, got my port out too.

I came home to another dozen of roses and an ice cold one waiting on the porch for me. Needlessw to say I had 3 more with that one!

I met a gal there at the center who likes to drink and she told all her doctors that she did. She asked all of them if it was ok and they all told her that it was. She even had one doctor tell her that as long as she didn't drink more than a six pack a day, there was no harm. Now you gotta love that doc! Had I met her earlier, I am sure she would have joined us Donna.

Lori - was so great to see you!  I had a blast, and I do wish we lived closer. Congrats on your NED results Cool

Six beers a day huh?  Maybe I need to change doctors LOL!

June - mon, that Jamaica trip sounds like it totally sucked hahaha!  So glad you got away and had so much fun.  It's a tough job, but SOMEBODY has to do it! If you need a chaperone next time, just call me, and I'll be there for you!

Hope everyone is doing well.  I'm gonna have to call our friend Christine and find out if she's still kicking.  Probably just working her ass off, but that's no excuse not to check in LOL!

Kathy - have fun in Hawaii - I have always wanted to go there! Do you think you'll get a lei?  (couldn't help it)

I am going SCUBA diving next month in Cozumel.  Looking forward to it, but I'm a novice diver and I hear the currents can be pretty strong so wish me luck!

Need to  refill my wine glass...where's Underpants?

    Cheers,

    Hi everyone,

I haven't been here in ages.  Donna.... how are you?  I haven't heard from Christine since Christmas.  I was in your area, but we were delayed late and I knew your friends were in town.  I'll call you soon and head your way again.  I need a good "girls" weekend.

I'll have to come back and get to know everyone here.

    Have a great evening..

hey, drinking buds--I think I lied--said I was so glad to be home--but, I'm ready to go again!!!

Lori--where in Hawaii are you getting married?   It is such a lovely place--Kathy can certainly have more input than I--we loved our vaca to Hawaii a couple years ago....I have to find that dr who is okay with a 6-pack a day!!!!

Donna--make sure you dive with a reputable dive shop from Cozumel...I'm not a diver, but have many friends who are...Cozumel is a diver's delight, but can be dangerous.  On a snorkeling trip there several years ago, our boat picked up a diver and her guide who had surfaced and couldn't find the boat the guide had taken out...it was pretty scary for them--they'd been floating in the water for several hours before our boat saw them--take care!!!    Are you staying on Cozumel?  It is a fun place!!  Have fun!!!   Donna, am looking at a trip to the Dom Republic in April--come along and take care of me!!!  Not sure our travel budget will stretch that far but giving it a close look!!!

ok--I'm off to find this Unerpants Guy!!!!

    big huggggsssss to all!!!
