I really enjoy a good single malt scotch on occasion.  My favorites tend to be from Speyside (aberlour, glenfiddich, glenmorangie, macallan).  I'm not big on the in-your-face peaty ones.

Our boy Pants doesn't seem much older than a well aged scotch.  I'm down with that.  Bring me another, my good man.

There's nothing like having a bad afternoon and walking in and seeing Pants. This afternoon I broke my leg and he somehow made me smile.

Stormy, I am so so sorry you broke your leg. How in the world did you do that? I hope you are not in too much pain.

Pants picks up Stormy and carries her over to one one of the comfy chairs by the fire place, and gently sets her down. "Let me go fix you something strong to help with the pain. Is there anything in particular you would like?"

Hope you feel better soon and heal quickly. Knock on wood, I have never broken anything. But I have had my share of surgeries!

    Cheers

Wicked pain until "Dr. Pants" helped me out.

My beautiful chestnut horse had a beautiful case of spring fever. We were trotting along the edge of the woods- he felt so good he may have been floating. Then he decided to have a bucking fitt. I can usually stay with him but he was to good for me yesterday. So now I have a cast from my toes to my thigh.

OUCH!!! Sorry to hear about your fall, Stormy. CryMust have been a gorgeous day for a ride...unfortunately looks like you might have to stay out of the saddle for awhile. Hope you heal real soon!!! Glad to hear that "Pants" is taking care of you. WinkI miss our horses...we had 2 beautiful quarter horses...one very gentle and one that might have done what your horse did! I kept them for a year after my husband died, till I found just the right person to sell them to. In fact he spoiled them so much...built an a/c barn for them and rarely rode them...just loved them. I had not had horses before we had those two, so wasn't too comfortable taking care of all their needs...and hauling all that alfalfa and sweet feed. But it was fun riding them...I hope you get to give your horse lots of hugs while you recover! Take care!

    Next round is on me....

Thanks. I stopped on the way into the house from the dr.'s and gave everyone a kiss. We're lucky that the weather is so nice right now that they can live out for a week or so.Its sounds like your horses were some real friends.

Hello Kathys, and UPants.  Is the fire going?  Cold, windy and rainy here.  It is turning my tamoxifen fed body full of dull aches.  Maybe a drink will help.  Maybe some more ladies will show. Save room for my friend Stormy1 with the full leg cast...she is going to need a nice comfy spot and a place to prop her leg.  HunkyD

gee--it got so quiet in here I fell asleep behind the bar--thanks for waking me up!!!  Do I ever need a drink!   Packing for a road trip to Kansas City to visit kids/grandkids/tax atty (nothing like waiting 'til the last minute...) and my dau calls tonight and asks if I've heard their weather forecast--they could possibly get up to a foot of snow over the week-end!  Duh--we're into shorts, t-shirts here.   Guess we'd better pack up heavy coats, gloves, etc etc, just in case!  grrrrr!!!   And, extra ML for me!!!

Hope everyone is well and that winter will soon be behind us all!

Hi gals, SO glad the bar is filling up! Junie we'll have to have a toast to your upcoming trip--and that the weather won't derail your plans. We actually got our taxes to our tax guy early this year--first time ever! But we leave on the 5th and will be gone a couple of weeks, so sure didn't want to forget and send it in late. Been really rainy here, but no snow, and not cold, so its tolerable. Yeah, the bar is so cozy with the fireplace going...but I may have to move to the other end of the bar, cause my hot flashes are going crazy with the heat in here! And of course, "pants" keeps it pretty hot in here all the time anyway. My parents are going with us on our almost 2 wk cruise, and my dad  is so funny....does not want to be without his bourbon for "happy hour" and couldn't figure out how to smuggle some onboard in his suitcase....so he is putting in in a prune juice bottle (cause bottle is dark anyway!). My mom can just put her vodka in a water bottle....they will be prepared! Wouldn't be so bad if the darn drinks weren't sooooo $$$ on the ship.

Take care everyone! HunkyD make sure Stormy gets home ok from the bar...or else pants can help her get home safely...hmmmm......

Kathy, we'll both just have to answer when someone calls our name...LOL.

    Cheers!

What a great night for a chair and a good drink. This leg never seems to stop aching.  You'all can stop laughing at me on the crutches (It's more fun to have Pants carry me around anyways.)

Do you think Aredia will help the break heal faster?

Safe travels everyone, we'll be here waiting for you.

Stormy, sorry to hear your leg is still hurting. Hope it will ease up soon! I have not heard of Aredia, so can't answer that question. BUT...I notice "pants" is so occupied with taking care of you, that he is ignoring the rest of us!!! Just kidding!!! Hope the drinks he is mixing for you are helping to ease the pain. Nice to have everyone back in the bar....it was empty for several days. Hope everyone is doing well!

Running in to stand by the fireplace. 9 degrees here this morning in Arizona and we got snow last night!

Underpants dear, could you bring me a coffee with some Baileys in it, please.

Stormy, you just hog Pants all you want. Remember, there are two of em! But you can only do it while you are in a cast! Which, by the way, how much longer? It has been over 10 days so far, but I am sure you know that. I don't know how long a break takes to heal.

I heard from Donna (CasinoGirl) she is back from Cozemel. The drug cartels didnt' get her. Thank goodness!

Ooooohhhh look! I see them working on a garden bar outside. Won't that be nice?

    Cheers ladies

9 degrees?!!! You just keep up with the Bailey's honey.

Someone said that they are going to put in a pool outside. On Opening Day we all get leis.

At least two more weeks with the cast, please ladies. I can't hog Underpants for that long.I've got to send him  around the room so we can have a happy bunch of beautiful smiles.

Someone should keep an eye on Hunkyd, she'll probably try to jump line a couple of times.

    Hugs, Stormy

Well...guess I had better buy a round and defend myself.  I promise I won't take cuts. Wink  A pool with a swim up bar?  Boy, ya know I have never been in one of those.   Sheltered life I guess.  One thing about it..."Pants" probably doesn't have a lot of cleanup on spilled drinks.  Goldie..or someone....you better come up with a name for this virtual bar!  Later all!  HunkyD

    Hi

I'm Nets from Scotland, and from what I've gleaned, some of you seem partial tp one of our well known products .......

I am halfway through chemo and have really missed my social life, I love wine but couldn'y bear to drink it just now, but ... Guiness tastes just fine! And a wee glass of icy cold cider.

I just feel so grim just now, though my tumour has shrunk so dramatically that I daren't complain! Had 2 infections in the one week, one upper resp and the other seemed ashma related, so this week has been hellish. On antibiotics just now as I go through my next chemo on Friday

Nice to know that I will able to enjoy myself sometimes soon, a nice meal and a good drink (not only am I Scottish but my dad and my maternal grandparents were Irish, so we do like to 'tip the bottle'. Going out now, I feel like a sickly partypooper, so I havenet for the past few months. So nice to find this fun site!

BTW, I spent a year in Aviemore as a break from college. I was a student teacher. That is in the heart of the Spey Valley in the Cairngorm mountains. Quite breathtaking. So I have done all the tours of the Speyside distilleries, and more that a wee bit of tasting!!!!!!!

If I am having a 'dram', I occasionally do, I like The Tallisker. It's very peaty and from Skye. but yo hold a sip in your mouth and almost let it dissolve. A wee treat if yo can get a hold of it. It's very dark, but lovely and to be savoured.

Cheers m'dears - glad I stumbled into you, to coin a phrase.

    Nettie xx

Welcome to the bar Nettie...I think you will be quite comfy here.  Sorry you are in the midst of chemo.  It can contort ones palate for sure.  It's great your tumor has shrunk in response to the chemo.  Sorry about the respiratory infections though.  I was on antibiotics throughout chemo just as precaution.  Hang in there!  You will find the service in here more than suitable.  Wonder what "Underpants" would look like in a kilt?  HunkyD

Hi Nettie! Welcome to our bar--nice to have some international flavor in here! I am very glad your tumor has shrunk, but sorry about the infections. Like hunkyd said, the service in here is more than suitable; in fact it is awesome! I'll never forget once when I was flying and sat next to a scottish man....who started talking to me about wearing kilts during celebrations, etc. And of course I could not resist asking the inevitable question...."What is worn under your kilt?" He promptly put me in my place by responding..."My dear, nothing is "worn" under my kilt. It is all in perfect working order"! Boy did I blush after that! Jaybird likes her scotch now, and has some favorites. My DH loves guinness...but hasn't tried it with a glass of cider...interesting combo!

Maybe you can help us name our bar...esp the new garden area complete with pool that has a swim-up bar. Those are fun...we have had those in some of our travels. But NEVER with two hunks as bartenders like we have here! Speaking of which....."pants" please bring our nettie a HUGE welcome drink! Boy, are we blessed!!!

    Cheers everyone!

What a lovely evening for a drink with the gals.  Hi Nettie, I'm the one with the affection for Speyside scotch, although I don't have the gills for the peaty stuff.  I'm glad you've traveled so far to be with us.  I hope you and Ann have uneventful chemo in your future.

Hey Kathy, we could call the swim up bar "Trunks".  What else would pants wear?

Good evening ladies.  I have to get back to my hoppy beer (Sierra Nevada Torpedo) and my hockey game.

Hi and welcome Nets. You don't have to be drinking alcohol to sit in our bar. Pants can get you what ever you like.

Kathy, what can I say? You asked for it!  ...."What is worn under your kilt?"

Ann, be as bad as you want! As for hair, I would be willing to bet that most of us, either don't have any or don't have much. For me, I don't have much! Maybe 2" and damn curly! Pants likes running his fingers through it! LOL

As for names. I am not one for much imagination. "Trunks" is good for the pool area. All I could come up with was "Girlies" or "Sisters". See..........I told ya!

Hi dee...."Pants" please bring our gal Dee a drink, and make it a good one!!! Since it is still early in the day, maybe a nice (and strong) irish coffee??It is fun reading the names that have been proposed for our swim-up pool bar...maybe we all should just keep thinking of names and then decide??? I haven't thought of one yet, but will try to this evening. After all, we plan on keeping this bar for a LONG time! Good ideas gals, keep em coming...maybe if pants keeps serving us some strong drinks the names will get funnier...lol. Oh, one idea that is Hawaiian, is "pau hana" which means you are through working, or end of the day, etc...we use it a lot there for after work get-togethers..but I would prob be the only one that would enjoy that one (also "okole hau" which translates roughly into "bottoms up"...okole means your butt)! Don't worry...I am not submitting those as ideas....Maybe we can come up with a real sexy name??? That would be fun.

    Cheers,

    Kathy
