how about drinking?

Hi gals! I've been on the other side of the island, at my dad's condo on the beach, with no internet access (awwww...). Just got back to his house (a block from a private beach...awwww...)..j/k...its been a great trip so far. We saw soooo many whales...right from the lanai...they were breaching, and one today threw his whole body up in the air...spectacular. Just saw one spinner dolphin though. Funny...this was the condo I grew up in at our beach vacations, and I never remember seeing either dolphins or whales. And they came in soooo close...we had paddled out in the kayak at the same spot the whales were at. Anyway, I grew up in Hawaii, and think that is so great that you will have your wedding there! Where will it be?
Boy, underpants sure is giving us a show!!! Oops...I think I dropped my keys again (accidentally...sure!)...had to sneak another glance. These tropical drinks he is making sure are good!!!
Take care everyone...Okole Hau!

Kosh, can you join? (silly question)
Can you pull up a barstool? Of course you can join, there's always room for another sister.
UNDERPANTS, GET THIS GIRL A MARTINI !
Junie, I am not sure where we are getting married. My sweetie loves Elvis and would like to get married like Elvis did in Blue Hawaii, on a gondola. They have a wedding package like that somewhere, I just don't remember where. I will have to ask him.
Cheers,
Lori

Lori, When Elvis was on the gondola, he was in the Polynesian Cultural Center, in Laie, on Oahu. There was a movie long ago, (maybe the same one) that also was filmed at a hotel in Kauai (Coconut Grove?)...not sure if that hotel is still around. People also get married at the beach here in Kailua, either at Kailua Beach, or Lanikai (near my dad's house). It is a beautiful backdrop, as there are 2 islands in the background, but you are really at the whim of the weather! No charge to get married on the beach, but of course lots of $$$ to have it arranged for you (minister, flowers, etc). I wonder how much it is to get married as Elvis did in the movie? Let us know when you have more plans...and of course we will be in our cyber bar drinking to your happiness!!

Hi ladies (and I use that loosely) and underpants wherever you are,
I had a recent incident at a conference in Vegas. If any one asks me if alcohol has ever had an adverse effect on my life I'll have to say,"Yes. I had a box of wine in my suitcase and tore a muscle in my chest hoisting it off the baggage carousel." I had to have a 250cc (1/3 of a wine bottle) seroma surgically drained this morning and the pocket tightened where it stretched.
I'm normally not a box wine gal, but after all the smoke I like to curl up in the tub with multiple glasses of wine.
Cheers all

Carol, OUCH! Hope you're feeling ok now...or have enough wine to numb the pain. Yes, that is quite an adverse effect that you had! Ummmmm....."underpants" where are you? Looks like Carol needs a stiff one (ok now, you know that means a drink, right????).
Got some beer chilling in the freezer so it will be super cold for happy hour...hope no one else has any alcohol related injuries!
Kosh, glad to have you join us! There is always a party going on here....somewhere.
Well, its pau hana time here, so.... CHEERS!

Hey Kathy,
While the post-op discharge instructions say no alcohol for 24 hours, I think that is in tea-totaler time. I'm sure for those of us with a regular alcohol regimen that is more like 2.4 hours, so bring it on "underpants."
I'm telling those that are nosy enough to ask that it was a pole dancing injury.
I'm feeling much better this evening. It was like having my expander filled 250cc all at once. I was such a wimp during the filling phase that I couldn't get more than 60cc at a time, so the seroma made me nauseated and achy all over. What a relief to have it gone.
Have a good night and remember, let's be careful out there.

oh, Wow, Carol(AZ) !!! Box wine in checked luggage--what a great idea!!! I'll certainly file that away in the back of my head for future trips! Back in the day when liquids weren't a problem with carry-on, I always had beer stashed in the back pack. I'd buy the first one from the flight attendant and then work out of my bag. One time, when we landed, hubby who was sitting beside me asked how I got half-crocked when I'd only had one beer??? I was so sneaky that even he didn't know I was replacing beer from my back pack!!!! Ahhhhh, fun memories!!! (LOL--the sneaking part sounds like a real alcohol problem, but I just hated paying for beers on the airplane!!!) But, if I do put wine in my suitcase, I'll be sure to find one of those guys with a cart to get it off the carousel for me!!!
Lori--a poor substitute for an Elvis wedding in Hawaii----we got married at the Elvis Chapel in Las Vegas! Didn't pay the extra, but could have had an Elvis impersonator come in and sing to us. Actually, I wanted to do the drive-through wedding!!! Anyways, it was a nice chapel and tasteful and we had a lot of friends who went with us to help celebrate.

Carol, I too am sorry you hurt yourself, we must be careful. Also had a good laugh at your concept of no drinking for 2.4 hours. And LOVE the pole dance story!
Kathy, I think you should let Carol decide on the "stiff one"........LOL
As for the wedding, it is not so much an "Elvis" wedding. Just the same setting. It is on Kauai. There will not be any Elvis impersonators or Elvis music.
Just a little thanks to all you gals for starting my day off with a smile.

Ok gals, your post caught my eye. You have my cracking up! Carol from AZ - I love the pole incident. Will have to remember that next time I have an injury! And bringing a box of wine in your suitcase is awesome! I'm not normally a box wine person either, but sure seems better than carrying a glass bottle in there. We are actually going on a cruise in April and we're trying to figure out how many bottles we can smuggle in our suitcases.....those drinks are expensive!
Hope all of you are doing well! My girlfriend is having a party on Thursday for heart disease awareness. We are dressing up in a "little black number and red shoes" and will be drinking red wine. I'll toast to you all and I'm sure in October, we'll be doing a pink celebration for breast cancer awareness.

Can someone pass me a margarita please?

In my past life when I could successfully negotiate a box of wine through an airport, I'd remove the inner bladder from the box as soon as I got to the hotel and put it in the ice bucket (if it was a white wine). It stayed well chilled if I changed the ice everyday. I always put the do not disturb sign up so I don't have to share.
Hey Dee,
salt or no salt?
Carol(AZ)

no salt, trying to watch the sodium...thanks!

Dee, I love your avatar.......so cute! Hope underpants brought you that margarita--he sure makes a wild one (or is he the wild one....I forget!).
Laura, When is your cruise? We are going from April 6-17....any chance you are going on the same one? Have fun at your party tomorrow night...a good cause thats for sure!
junie, Love how you used to smuggle your beer and drink it on the plane...with your DH not even noticing!
Carol, So funny about the "pole dancing" incident!
Laura, Got it--thanks for letting us know it is on Kauai--wonder if it is at the old Coconut Grove Hotel? I know he did a movie there, but not sure if the same hotel is there or a different one.
Hope everyone is doing well! It was really windy and cool in Hawaii today, but those cold beers still tasted great! The next round is on me.....
Cheers,
Kathy

Well, I'm off to Scotland tonight and will definitely be bringing back some Scotch! The duty free at the airport has the BEST prices and they always give you a discount for buying two bottles at a time! Lately scotch has been my drink of choice so I think I'll be bringing back more than one bottle!
Cheers!

LOL..thanks Wahine, your baby is cute too!
Who is underpants?0 -
Hi Dee...I can sure understand the confusion!!! Back on page 169 (hmm.....might be a meaning there) Lori found us a new cute bartender, and then Hunkydory named him "underpants". Then all h#ll broke loose...LOL. We sure are enjoying our new bartender! Is that a pic of your "baby"? Sure is a cute pose. My "babies" always come right up to the camera and it is hard to get a decent pic, but I did get one of Maverick...we had rescued him and his smaller sis, Molly, about 5 yrs ago---sure love them! Miss them now, while we are away.
Jaybird, enjoy your time in Scotland!!! I haven't been there, but hope to someday. Would like to go to Ireland first; I don't know why but it has always interested me. What should we see in Scotland if we go? Good that you discovered that you like scotch--what a good deal!
Hated that new study that found out that women should not have ANY alcohol---boy is that unfair! They think even just one drink a day (or even less) can cause cancer...that SUCKS!!! Guess we'll have to prove them wrong...
Cheers,
Kathy

There are so many horrible drugs that we must take, so many unbearable SE's; isn't alcohol just a way to make the scales tip even?

I totally agree!!!

Hello fellow bar-buddies. Glad the bar stools have backs on them. Oh sure....handy to hang a purse on all right, but I am tired and feel the need to "saturate my system" and my back is tired. My original shout to "Underpants" came as a line from National Lampoons Vacation, where the family stops at the western bar at the amusement park. Chevy yells, "Hey Underpants, how about a drink" to the ornery bartender. Bartender pulls the shotgun out and shoots! However, I like the way this group has adopted "Underpants" as our very own wonderful, pleasant to the eye-bartender!!! Let's not forget to tip!!! Damn...my purse just fell off the chair onto the floor! Hehe! Have a good evening all! HunkyD

Wahine, no not my baby, just a cute pic.
I have to mean~ass kitties named Bubba and callie.
Send underpants over with that margarita already!! LOL0 -
Underpants honey, I'd like a bottle of our good Maryland White to share with everyone. I've gotta thank these girls for letting me kick back and smile with them. As long as no one is allergic to dogs this short legged one is my corgi "Timmy". He perceives himself as official popcorn tester.
0 -
Stormy, that wine is soooooooo good! Thanks for sharing it with us. I can't see your dog "Timmy".....maybe that wine is far too potent...LOL.
Junie, how are you doing? Still have the ML truck parked outside?
I still have this sore throat (over a week now)...underpants can you fix up a good "hot toddy" for me? Gals, do we ever give him a day off??? NAH...we need him too much.
Okole Hau,
Kathy

Hey Stormy....so glad you brought Timmy. I frequently miss my mouth eating popcorn. He will be really happy. I know I shouldn't be drinking as the news once again declared its deadly connection with breast cancer but since I am already there....cheers. Wonderful wine too Stormy. Wahine...hope you got the toddy and your throat is better. I am a little concerned that Underpants will be seeking new employment if we all restrict ourselves from the evil libations we love. All you guys seem so easy going it....Happy Friday...HunkyD

Oh Timmy and I are so happy that it it Friday. I imagine Underpants Man more of a family member than hired help, alwayss welcome to be one of us. I also imagine this huge roaring fireplace surrounded by the lot of us in beat uo comfortable old leather armchairs. Alot goes on behind these walls.

TGIF!!! Next rounds on me! Wahine--hope you start feeling better soon! Will send that ML truck all the way to Hawaii with hot toddys for you if need be!!! And, yes--it is a permanent fixture at our house!
Has anyone had a "Bushwhacker"?? I was supposed to order one on vaca but forgot until we got back home...no problem, will have to make a trip back! or, maybe just as well--can drink beer all day long and be pretty much fine, but get a little hard liquor in me and I apologize in advance for anything I say or do!!!
Have a great week-end all!!!!
0 -
If you like coffee, coconut and vanilla you will like the Bushwacker.
Have a nice day0 -
Dee, that Bushwacker sounds yummy! In case "underpants" has the day off, do you know what else is in it....like would it be Kahlua...or what type of liquor?
Junie, my sore throat seems better today....finally. I have been so exhausted with this cold but still kept on going till yesterday when I mostly rested. Hawaii has been unusually cold and very windy which is great for me as my hot flashes can be miserable...and I haven't had as many lately...yay! My dad (at 92) was always an avid fisherman...caught the huge fish. He has been a member of the local fishing club for years, and we got to go to their party last night, when I found out it is mostly a "social club"...LOL. Boy, there was unlimited margaritas and beer and korean bbq, etc. The unlimited margaritas were the best!!!!! Thought of you all at the bar. Hope underpants took good care of everyone here.
Okole Hau,
Kathy

Well, I thought we all should have a visual on "Underpants" and yes Kathy, he should have a day off on occasion, so we need a replacement.
"Underpants 1 & 2, what do you ladies think? Keep or not?
