    Hi Guys

Thank you for your warm welcome! Such fun! Spotted your bartenders. They would look goooood in kilts. In fact, it's strange, every man does. Wee fat men, tall skinny men - they should look insane but for some old reason ... they all look kinda cool! But back to your chappies, I'll have nice dreams tonight! 'Hot Tatties' = hot potatoes in Scotland, so ... appropriate. I actually AM having a Green Ginger Wine with Ginger Ale at the moment with my antibiotic. It's 14 percent, so not too shameful in a long drink. BTW, Green Ginger with equal amount of whisky (blends, not malts - we are not savages!!!) is called a Whisky Mac - good for colds ... and even better for prevention!!!

Looking so forward to the banter girlies ......

Dee, I just spotted, I have been verbally told that I am HER2 +, - I am ER and PR-, could you advise me, sorry for breaking the mood girls. Oh and who has NOT tried Guiness, straight from the fridge??? Mind you, my Irish Da liked his from the radiator!!!!!!! Traditionally, the Irish liked their Black Stuff warm. But take Nets advice, take it cold, pour it with reverance, trace a shamrock on the thick, creamy head, thank god for small pleasures and enjoy!!!!

    With love and lollipops

Greetings to Nettie and cheers to all!

I read, I drink, but don't post here all that often anymore.

I'm watching my funds so you'd think scotch would be a bad choice but I'm really picky about my red wine and don't like the 'cheap' stuff so I get 'bargains' when I buy duty-free scotch when I fly.

Tonight I'm enjoying the bottle I had banished to the basement but have decided I do like. It's Auchentoshan, Three Wood (oooohhhhh, sounds sexy!!!). Nicely balanced, not smoky, not peaty.

While I've gotten snobby about 'single malts' I do like Johnnie Walker Blue Label and bought some duty-free in Moscow and paid a lot less than the going price of $200 in the U.S. It will be saved for special occasions because it's so dang expensive but it is SO good, almost as good as sex. Or maybe better if you aren't getting any or if what you're getting is not good! Surprised

As for Guinness, I'm not a fan. It's too....thick? rich? dark? More for everyone else I guess!

Nettie, if you're anywhere near Edinburgh we should meet up!

    Cheers!

Dee, So far I like "Hot Tatties" the best. But will welcome more ideas too...I sure can't think of anything, but was trying to think of something ethereal, a place to escape, a zanadu kind of place...but cannot think of a word to describe that. Or just something sexy. So really, "hot tatties" would work..what does everyone else think? When "underpants" and his buddy were added to the bar, that was such a great idea, and things have just expanded (oops! no pun intended) from there. I sure like all the new gals joining us here, with all the new ideas. So stormy, hunkyd, goldie...any more ideas???

Nettie, my DH adores his guiness...its really his favorite. I like their smithwicks, and that other one they make (it is harp?I forget). Much milder than guiness. We went to Nashville a few yrs ago for a party where they were introducing the smithwicks to the US...it was fun.

Jaybird, I love hearing about the drinks you discover! Nice that you can pick up liquor and wine through duty free. Glad you joined in today...I had missed hearing from you.

Hope everyone is doing well. Sorry to hear about all the treatments...I was "lucky" to have missed out on that...just had to have a bilat mast...no chemo or rads, so didn't lose any hair. Hope it all goes smoothly.

    Jaybird, my sweet!

I used to go to Teachers Training College in Edinburgh! Now Napiers University.

I'm in 'purdah' just now, which is why I am glued to my laptop. Feeling weak and crap and no desire to leave the house.

Mid chemo, I have had 2 infections, on antibiotics, lost my voice through coughing, lost my hair through FEC - my Chemo, you dirty minded bisom, my eyelashes (boo hoo, they were my one vanity - over half an inch long, black and strong. Hope they  come back!) Lost my taste, my appitite and sense of smell. But not my sense of humour!

And losing the sense of smell is better that a fortnight ago, when all I could smell were farts and smelly socks - even in the great outdoors! I kept giving people dirty looks as though they had filled their nappies (diapers). All part of the great gift that is chemo!!!

Anyoldhow, once chemo is over and out my system (Mid May) I would love to meet up, better still would love to show you Glasgow (only an hour away by bus).Keep in touch!

Kathy, you could have knocked me over with a feather when you mentioned Smithwicks - in America. I love it! Ditto Kilkenny, Caffreys - the Irish DO know how to make fine beers!

Actually the last time I was out, for a night out - 10 days ago now, I had 2 half pints of cold Smithwicks in Glasgow. (Glasgow is a pretty Scottish irish city, lots of Irish live there)

    Lordy, it's a small world.

    Love this site, what fun.

Would be great to join in a virtual girls night out, better still a real one!

My God though! Malts sounds uber expensive in the US. Glenfiddoch/Glenmorangie costs about £20/$30 here! Upmarket chains like Oddbins have their own lable versions (from the major distilleries) for less and they do free tasting at the weekend.

    Cheers m'dears

Nettie, I hope you feel better soon and I'll let you know when I'll be in Edinburgh again.

Scotch here in the U.S. isn't expensive but the good stuff is! There are many fine ones that aren't even imported here so I try to bring those back, as a special treat. But still it's chaper to buy duty free usually.

    Cheers!

My we have been a chatty group lately! Busy bar!

Cathy, as for names. You did come up with one. ZANADU'S. That would work too. I like Pau Hana's, but I am affraid I wouldn't remember it!

Hot Tatties or Hot Ta Tas

As for "Jocks", I think that should be the name of our other bar tender. "Pants" and "Jocks" what do you think?

You ladies with your scotches and wines, way above my head. But love listening to you all. Just give me a simple beer or a rum and coke, and I'm happy!

Nette, hang in there. May is not that far away. You can do it, I know you can! And you have lots of support here.

    Bottoms Up

Goldie, Yeah I like "Zanadu" too, but wondered it it is too outdated a name for the younger gals. But maybe so far we can decide on...."Hot Tatties", "Hot Ta Ta's", or "Zanadu"...unless more names come up! Whad'ya think gals? ANd yeah, "Jocks" sounds great for "Pants" fellow bartender. I like that! ANyone second that?

Dee, my dog "Maverick" we believe is border collie/english springer spaniel. His sis "Molly" looks like cocker spaniel/english springer spaniel. (So you were so right about the border collie!).They are soooo precious....we rescued them over 4 yrs ago (they were 1 1/2-2 yrs old). At first Molly was so shy and let Maverick bully her and take over her food, etc. She could walk right under his belly! Well now she has filled out and she is still much smaller than him, but cannot walk under him anymore. Now Maverick just sits (after he inhales his food in 2 sec) and watches and waits till Molly leaves her dish...THEN he is allowed to lick her bowl. They are outside dogs, but just are totally there for us...and so quiet. I think they know they were rescued...don't know how ANYONE could have left them...and we saw them after they were already kept past the normal time...so fortunate for all of us. Luckily I started looking, as we had just lost our beloved "Max" (MaxWorthAMillion) who also was rescued and looked similar. DH didn't want to be hurt again, but I knew we had more room in our hearts to love. Have to ask the neighbors to feed again, as we leave on the 5th for 2 wks for our cruise. And then we miss the "babies" terribly!

Nettie, what is "purdah"??? Yes, a good cold Smithwicks can't be beat! I have always wanted to go to Ireland, and now you have me interested in Scotland. Didn't realize so many Irish lived there. Will have to plan a trip someday. What a bummer about all the probs with chemo. ANd smelling all those horrible smells...yuck! Glad you found us here, as you are a fun addition to our group!

Love that this bar has had more activity lately! Well...I have to go and work more on the condo and see if the tiles I put in and grouted yesterday are still up! Must remember to take more beer as it is nice to take a break and sit outside and listen to the birds and the creek...very warm lately and all the baby birdies are out and about. Take care everyone!!!

Not very good at naming places myself.  There are just so many "Joes Bar and Grill" out there.  Our bar would instead be "Tighty Whities"  somethin or other.  Ya, stupid I know...you guys are doing much better.  I'll go along with what everyone else wants.  I'm pretty easy to please as long as the beer is cold and the wine is fine!  Well, it's "pau hana" for me, I'm done working and going to relax.  HunkyD

But gals, any name is fine with me. Getting some interesting ones..."tighty whities"..."Hot Tatties"...those are original!!! Trying to think of stuff, and then "Mermaids" or Chillin' came to mind. Anyone else?

There was a bar around here for a while called Group Therapy.  Ha, still makes me laugh.

Nettie: sorry to hear of all your chemo trouble.  I hope everything grows back even more glamorous than before.  I'm a Guinness fan, too.  It's a beverage and a show all in one.

Dee, I didn't even know what "Banana Hammock" meant....lol...thanks for clearing that up! We definately are not having a mans gay bar!

Stormy, I don't know how to do a ballot. Everyone just want to list their favorites? So far I like Group Therapy, Hot Tatties, Hot Ta-Tas, Chill Zone, Mermaids, and Zanadu. Maybe we should let "Pants and "Jocks" decide?

Two more: Splash, or Making Waves

    Almost pau hana time....cheers!

Probably easier to just give our favorite one name like Kathy said and give a few days for all the "votes" to be in say, maybe by Sunday? Then announce the new name of the bar when everyone has voted. What do y'all think?

So, my vote is for Hot Totties

Dee, I was going to vote, but noticed you voted for Hot Totties, but earlier had submitted "Hot Tatties" (which I thought stood for Ta-Tas or boobs). I thought that was cute, but not sure which one it is supposed to be! So, if I can vote for three (cause I can't decide on one!)....then my vote would be for "Hot Tatties" (or "Hot Totties"), and either "Zanadu" or "Mermaids". Terrible I know, not to pick just one, but at least I got it narrowed down a bit...lol. WHATEVER is decided upon is fine with me though!!! We leave on Sunday for a couple of weeks, so Dee this balloting is left up to you to tally...okay? I just think it is such fun that we now have an outdoor garden and pool, with a swim up bar...awesome!!! Hope pants and jocks continue to take good care of us! Well, its happy hour here, but the bar isn't full. Where is everyone???

    Take care,

    Kathy

Whoa..."Pants" set us all up.  I need some refreshements.  Spent yesterday at onc checkup and now comes my decision on prophylactic mx and recon.  Would it be considered un-lady-like to empty surgery drains in the ladies room of this bar?  I like all your submitted bar names....seriously.  Hard to pick one but bearing in mind what disease brought us all together...Hot Tatties does fit.  "Pants"...please don't ever put my debit card down your levis again.  The magnetic strip was ruined last time and I had to replace it.  Love to all my buddies here...HunkyD

Banana Hammock is funny and I kinda like it. Keep curiosity up!

    Also like Zanadu.

And....just a thought.........maybe we should call it a "lounge" instead of a bar.

lordie!  gone for a few days and have so much to catch up with here...naming our bar?  how fun--don't vote just yet--give me 'til tomorrow to toss my recommendation into the hat--pleeeze!!!!

So glad to be back home and able to visit my favorite bar (or lounge...if it's a lounge, do I have to wear shoes????)   So glad to have taxes done and out of the way; sent nasty payment check off this afternoon...but getting refund from state, so it was basically a wash.   The foot of snow turned into moderate icing and 4 inches of snow--we were only "stuck" for two fun days with kids and 3 lab dogs.

Casino Girl--wanting a Cozumel trip report!!!  Hope you had a fabulous, relaxing vaca, and some wonderful dive experiences!

Jaybird--hubby is BIG Scotch drinker...mentioned the Johnny Walker Blue to him and he almost fainted with longing and told me it was sooooooooo expensive.......so, my next goal is to round up a bottle of it for his next birthday!!!  Thanks for mentioning it!!!!

Wahine!!!  I get home--you leave..you get home...I leave!!!   Thankfully, we can keep up here at the yet-to-be-named bar/lounge!!!  Have a great time on your cruise!

Nettie--welcome!!!  Look forward to getting to know you better and check out some of the drinks you've mentioned--might need to take a trip across the pond to really appreciate them!!!

Dee/Lori/Stormy/Carol/and all I've missed--what a great group of drinking buddies!!!  Big HUGGGSSSS to all!!!!

junie, So glad to have you back at the bar (oops, I mean lounge)! Yup, you sure had tons to catch up on. Just to make it clear though, we are naming the new outside garden area/swim up pool bar which has just been installed (I think...correct me gals if I am wrong on this). I don't think we ever came up with a name for the main lounge. Or will the new name be for both areas??? How about the name for the other bartender..."jocks"...isn't that cute! Since they are so hot and cute, they needed cool names.

hunkyd, you just empty your drains wherever you need to...this is your lounge too!!! When will your surgery be? Drains were the worst part, for me...had a couple of them in for 5 wks. Today is actually when I got my dx, a year ago...boy I will never forget THAT phone call...trying to ask all the questions, with the tears flowing...and DH in the room looking terrified. Let us know what you decide and when it will be. You know we're here for you, right? You mean "pants" has been charging you for your drinks? I thought they were all "on the house"...at least in my ideal lounge it would be..j/k.

NIghty night...its after 2 am...must leave the bar...

Hunkydory, we must have posted at the same time, as I missed yours. Of course you can use the ladies room for draining, just don't use the pool please!

Junie, glad to have you back. I did get a PM from Casinogirl (Donna) said she had a wonderful time and scuba diving was spectacular and she can't wait to go back. I don't mind if you don't wear your shoes, in fact I hate wearing shoes. It's our bar/lounge and we can do what we want!

Kathy, wow, up at 2 am? There is no way I could stay up that late. I am usually in bed by 8! But then I am up at 4 or 5 too. I agree with you, drinks on the house. I think hunky just wanted in "Pants" pants! Tongue out

Jaybird, grab a drink and meet me over by the fireplace, we can watch Survivor on that big screen tv.

Ok, here is my thought, until Junie puts her suggestions in. Can't wait to hear your ideas!

We can call the establishment Hot Tatties Lounge and the pool/garden area we can call the Banana Hammock. (for some reason I just like that)  Bartenders "Pants" & "Jocks"

    CHEERS and HUGS

    Hi,

I really like the idea of "Hot Tatties". Lori's suggestion of the outdoor lounge being refered to as "the Banana Hammock"" in honor of Pants and Jocks is good too.

Pretty early in the morning to be hanging around the lounge but the sun felt so good and I didn't know whether to fall asleep or read my paper until the guys showed up with lattes and bacon, egg, and cheese biscuits (with hash browns). They sure know how to spoil a girl. We've been discussing a deep sea fishing trip, Pants would really like a chance to get at the rockfish.
