    Hi Goldie,

Your casino sounds excellent. I can get a walker with big pockets full of quarters, no wait...cup holders! I am so up for this.

The whole story is that I've already had a radical mastectomy and the boob that I have for sale is my prosthesis from that. The chemo interruptus doesn't bother me, I'm one of those lucky people who has a date with the red devil every other week for the rest of my life.

Those darn boobs are so expensive that I'll probably pass it on via our local woman's place, although e-bay would be a hoot.

    Hugs to all!

Oh crap, I have gotten an infection in my tissue expander :(

Keep your fingers crossed it clears up with this Cipro antibiotic that the doc gave me. I won't be able to drink for awhile so keep my seat at the bar ready for me when I get back.

    Take care ladies!

Dee.....hope your infection clears.  We'll hold your seat.  With all you drank the other day I'm not sure how an infection could survive in your body.  Keeping my fingers crossed for ya.

Stormy!, lol, I can just picture you walking around our lounge using a walker with cup holders mounted on it.  Remember....no running by the pool!!

Can't wait for the slot machines to come in.  I prefer to play 21, so I would just sit at a machine and pretend I'm playing for the free drinks that come along with that.  No olives for me...I might chuck them in the pool unless someone else wan'ts them.  Laurie...welcome to the bar.  Goldie...haven't been to Laughlin but have been to Mesquite about a dozen times.  Just thought I'd check in and see who's here tonight.  HunkyD

Well girls, I am leaving in the morning. First stop in Flagstaff, seeing an acupuncturist for these damn hot flashes. I'm willing to try anything. Then to Laughlin for the nite. Friday morning heading to San Diego to see the grandkids, and head home Sunday morning.

Grabbing a drink to go! Oh, and while in Laughlin, I might try a "Duck Fart"! Heard of it yesterday. Baileys and Crown Royal. Sounds good!

HunkyD, where is Mesquite? Never heard of it.

Pardon me for laughing *Stormy walking around our lounge using a walker with cup holders mounted on it* Don't fall girlfriend! Maybe you can sit and Jocks can just push you around!

Belly up girls, and I will see you when I get back.

    Hugs, Lori

Lori--have a safe trip and--hope you hit a jackpot in Laughlin.   We've been there once and enjoyed it--but we enjoy Vegas, Tahoe, and Reno, too--as well as every other gaming place we've ever been!  Although years ago, in a little casino in France, I got the crapola scared out of me.   It was a rather small place with slots in one room and cards in another.  DH gave me a bucket with some coins for the slots and he went to the card room.    I was happily minding my own business on a slot machine when all of a sudden the machine started making loud screaming noises and everyone in the room looked over at me.   I'd hit whatever was THE big jackpot!   Everyone swarmed over to me and were congratulating me, clapping, and rubbing me for good luck and really crowding my space.  Someone punched the cash out button and all these coins started dropping down and out and on the floor and people were grabbing them.  Keep in mind that I don't speak French other than hello, thank you, and good night!!!   Two ladies managed to chase everyone away and they got another bucket for the coins and helped me fill them....THEN, they each grabbed me by an arm and made me move to another machine and THEY started dipping into MY buckets and playing slots with MY money!    I totally freaked out!  Indicated I was finished and gathered up my cups and left to find where a cashier was.   Made the mistake of pausing by another slot at the back of the room and dropped a few more coins in--damn, THAT machine went off!   First and only time I tired of winning--I just wanted the hell out of that place.  Managed to find the card room and told DH we had to go--NOW!   Think I cashed in the equiv of @$400 US--a small fortune in that small town.   (Actually went back to that casino several years later--that time I think I gave them back most of the money I'd won previously!!)

Dee--you sure that infection isn't sun poisoning from your burn???  LOL

Stormy--we'll have a motorized scooter in our casino!  If someone else is using it, Pants or Jocks will just carry you around!!!

Had the BEST Bloody Mary at the Indian casino--big fat olives and all!   Wish I didn't like so many different drinks!!!   That's why I try to stick with my ML--don't get in as much trouble with it!!!

The Dogwoods and Redbuds are blooming in our area; think my spring is finally here!  So, always something to celebrate!!!  Popping another ML !!

    bug hugggsssss to all!!!

Yes Junie, motorized bar stools.  That's the ticket.

Ironic story: a few years ago at an annual conference in Vegas (3-4 yr before surgery) I was having a grand time at a blackjack table.  The dealer asked me, "what was your name again?"  I replied, "before the breast reduction it was Candy."  Since my PBM is the mother of all breast reductions, I guess that's karma giving me a goose in the a$$.

Dee, I am so very sorry about your implant.  I know how disappointing any setbacks can be.  I'll save a frosty one of your preference for you.

Goldie, have a splendid time in Laughlin.  I bet Flagstaff is COLD tonight since it is in the 50's here in the valley.  You'd better grab a brew at Beaver Street.

    Health and happiness to all.

A motorized scooter would be great. The ones at the grocery store are very helpful except I keep geeting the urge to plow into a bread display.

Sometime I'll have to join you ladies at a casino. I love racetracks so a racinoo would probably be a good idea. We could go to Saratoga and never come back.(Oh, I forgot, I already did that once.)

My diet lately has mostly been white wine and water. Is that in the chemo handbook? Is there any drink that has cacium added?

Let's see Stormy,  I'll have Pants mix you a frozen Colorado Bulldog (basically a white russian made with vanilla ice cream and a shot of coke).   That has to be good for the bones unless you drink too many and break another.  Sorry about your perpetual chemo.

It's shaping up to be our last brisk day here.  Next week we're in the 90's.  At least the snowbirds won't be crowding the boxed wine isle for a few months.

    Take care all.

    Hi Dee,

I enjoy pomegranate juice in mineral water with a twist of lime when I have to go virgin.  I hope you find something satisfying and your antibiotics do a bang up job.

Those cipro pills, are they the ones that are an inch long and 1/2 inch thick? You need something pretty smooth to wash those down. A yogurt smoothie perhaps.

Your idea about the orange juice is a good one however I think that my "sensitive" stomach would revolt right now. I guess that I'll need to supplement.

    How boring.

Going to a church retreat this weekend with some really nice ladies. I'm betting when we pull out the alcohol around 9 pm that some are going to come right unwound.  Yee haw.

Happy weekend, lounge ladies!!!  Popping another ML--we've been rockin' and rollin' to spring T-storms today...sounds like another one is ready to roll through...As long as no tornado warnings are in effect, I love the thunder as it bounces and booms through our Ozark mountains (big hills if compared to the Rockies!!)   Wanted to fix a fish recipe for dinner that called for 1/4 cup white wine...not a problem, but if I'd opened that bottle, I'd drink the rest of it tonight--recipes that use wine, we need to have company!!!   We buy a lot of wine at our local grocery.   Merlot and a white.  Think the name is Aux-Arc (for Ozarks...) it is really good for about $12 a bottle.   Otherwise, we have to drive almost an hour each way to nearest big booze store--and, can't tell you how many times I go in and inquire about something I've read here...and, no clue what I'm talking about!  good thing I'm basically a beer drinker!!

    hugggsssss to all!!!

Hi gals!!! Sooooo nice to be here again, but hard to catch up with all the fun messages! Thanks for saving some chocolate easter bunnies filled with kahlua for me....the baileys ones are good too! They had an easter egg hunt on the cruise, and in the buffet there were large ice carvings of easter bunnies with ice baskets, holding colored eggs. Large choc bunnies and foot high bunny cookies too...was cute. Of course I ate waaaaay toooooo much....and it followed me home...darn it...but the cruise was awesome...best one we have been on...might stick with Celebrity from now on. Loved reading about all the fun you all were having....and thanks Junie for adding the casino area...I love the blackjack (started to abbreviate that but it didn't look right...lol) tables with the shirtless dealers.

Laurie, A big WELCOME to you...pants please bring Laurie her "usual", and give her that welcome massage too....a long relaxing one.

Stormy, Hope you leg is healing better now that the dr cut off half the cast....so sorry it is still painful. I cracked up over you mentioning you are going to have a "simple" mast....I guess with what we have all been through, it would be simple compared to other surgeries....but it still is surgery, so let us know when that is scheduled....and we will be thinking of you and praying for an easy recovery.

Oh....jocks just brought me one of those huge bloody mary's....with the large green olives, and wedge of lime...seasoned just right too!

Lori, this is soooo weird....I had never had acupuncture before this cruise, but I had 3 treatments on the ship as they thought it would help my hot flashes. And then you went to Flagstaff for the same thing...what a small world!!! And my last one might have been on the same day as yours. I hope yours worked...mine didn't... I even had 40 needles in me on the 2nd treatment. Nice that they don't hurt...not even in the scalp! I even went to the hypnotist on the ship....but also got her cd's and will see if I can self hypnotize to get rid of them. Weird the lengths we will go to...but it sure impairs the quality of life. I couldn't sign up for any boat excursions because it was too hot and I knew I would be miserable. But I got a book the acupuncturist recommended, to eat differently to get rid of inflammation (and lose weight!), so maybe that might help too. Your "duck fart" sounds yummy...believe it or not...lol...what a funny name! Have a safe trip back home!

junie, What an experience you had in that french casino! Imagine winning and not wanting to...funny! This is the first time we didn't gamble much on the ship...had to do some....duh...but the shows were so great that I preferred to be there instead of leaving my money in the casino. Oh, Dh was tickled to find Guinness in cans (in Panama or Costa Rica) for just 64 cents each!!! We actually bought so much beer in the ports that it was hard to drink it all b4 the end of the cruise. OH, it was soooo nice having a drink on the balcony...way above the water...heavenly.

Dee, So sorry to hear about your infection. Hope the antibiotics have done their stuff and it is now gone. Was that causing the pain, or are the fills causing the pain? IF its the fills, you can request having a lesser amount put in and that should help. It is hard for me to believe that less than a yr ago I had my bilat mast...I know you will be glad to be finished with all the surgeries. I will have another drink....just for you....and hope soon you will be joining us for drinks again at HTL.

Jaybird, It is so neat that you can buy liquor in those countries you fly into....and get to try so many different types of wines, etc.! Yes, please send us a new pic of your daughter....she is so cute. Hope she had a fun easter!

Hope I got caught up. Sorry this is soooo long. Oh, good....bar is filling up now...getting noisy....lots of laughter....oops, looks like pants is chasing someone around the pool. OK now, fess up....who is that he's chasing???? Love and hugs to all, Kathy

Thanks for mentioning that--sounds like it has worked for you? I mentioned it to my dr before our trip, and will be seeing him Monday....will have to wean off wellbutrin first and then try it. But I was so hoping to be able to get rid of them w/o drugs.

And welcome to the HTL!!!! Been catching up with your posts on the thread you started about Olivia....isn't that great that they finally found out what the problem is and can treat it.

Yummy...a bloody mary sounds great! Nice when hubby's are good bartenders as well (although pants and jocks do a good job too!). I think I will have mine make an irish coffee....he makes yummy ones...very potent though. I start on a "diet" tomorrow....actually a healthy way of eating...so sugars and alcohol will be out of the question for a few weeks....might as well over indulge today...lol. So I will have to be a "tee totaler" (sp?) at HTL for a while, but I think just looking at our "eye candy" bartenders will be just fine. And you all can drink extra, since they won't be taking all that time fixing drinks for me. Although, I may indulge in extra massages, so might be  monopolizing their time for awhile...sorry gals! Anyway, hope everyone has a GREAT Sunday!!!! Got to go now and get hubby working on that irish coffee...

    Cheers,

    Kathy

    Good morning loungers,

Had a great time on a pub crawl with friends yesterday. Seventeen of us hit 4 different bars along the new light rail system here in PHX.  It was a blast.

Wahine, welcome home.  Glad you had a good time, but sorry about the flashes.  Maybe you're just thinking too much about our hunky bartenders.  I don't look forward to hot flashes in AZ.  Talk about spontaneous combustion.

Laurie, a bloody Mary would hit the spot about now.  I think I'll join you.

    Good day,

    Hello,

Wahine your cruise sounded wonderful. I'm sorry about the hot flashes but glad that you enjoyed yourself so much. Did you pack all of those 64 cent cans of Guiness home in your bags orr were you packing the buzz?

    Lori did your accupunture work?

Hunkyd I bet you have never seen so much alcohol at a church retreat before. What a bunch of happy ladies and great stories. Yes I behaved. It was just so neat to sit there and listen to how these different people had lived and some of the things that their ancestors had done. Okay so i'm guilty of being a geek for a weekend. Pants! It's my turn to be the sandwich filling, remember?

    Dear Caz,

May I ask what Singulair is? Ive just been told that I had severe capsular contraction. My surgeon is probably going to change my implants for ones that are less prone to Capsular contraction.(done anybody know what these could possibly be?) Love, Sandyb x

    Hey Sandy,

Singulair is a leukotriene inhibitor used for asthma.  Leukotrienes are part of a cascade that leads to inflammation and possible scarring.  My PS just swapped for a new identical implant.  She said that powder from surgical gloves or lint from gauze sponges can also be to blame, so she is especially careful.  Good luck.

Jaybird, what's with all the deletes?  Have you been drinking?  Good, I'll join you.

HA! Nope, wasn't drinking this afternoon (should have been, though!) and tonight it's camomile tea as I have to get up early and to my onc's office by 9 a.m. tomorrow. Hopefully he'll tell me I'm fine but if he doesn't do tumor markers how would I know if I'm not??? I'll 'celebrate' with some scotch tomorrow night. I crossed my 4-year cancerversary early last month - yea!

Hello to all my friends here! Had a wonderful time in Laughlin and San Diego. I did have "Duck Farts" very yummy! The waitress brought me one and told me that the bar tender (they didn't have tattie tenders there) also put a little vodka in it. Other than that it was Baileys and Crown Royal. Seeing my grandkids was soooooo wonderful. Melody is 11 months and a little doll. Jimmy is 4 and huge handful. His parents do not disipline him and try to sugar coat everything when he is bad. Trying to please him so he won't act out. But he too is a doll.

I did have the acupuncture, and was given some drops to take at the onset of a flash. 3-4 drops. Bottle says sulfur on it. I don't think that is helping. While in CA I would have said, no acupuncture didn't work. But now that I am home, I noticed yesterday that during the day I didn't have a flash until about 3 in the afternoon. At night I think I am getting 3-4 hours of sleep at a time instead of 1-2 hours. I am going to keep track tonight and write down the times I flash.

So many posts since I got back! Jaybird, congrats on the 4 years and good luck at the docs. Dee, hope your infection is clearing up. Stormy, hope your leg is healing. Carol, I can't even imagine how you handle flashes now that you are hitting triple digits down there!

Attaching a pic of my S.O., his daughter and the kids.

Talk to ya all soon, take care and CHEERS!
