how about drinking?

Grusin is one of my favorite jazz pianists & movie/TV composers. Glad you got to enjoy him (and all the other jazz music) this weekend.
We got home late Sat. night. Fri. we had our timeshare sales pitch--but after Bob stood firm about not trading back up, they backed off and gave us our freebies (restaurant & hotel gift certificates and 15% discount card) anyway. Afterwards, we went to Petrossian and had (along with our lunch) Andre Delorme Brut, from the Loire. That night, we took Bob's BFF (and our best man) to Bistro 8-1/2, which was sort of unimpressive. Nice Oregon Pinot Noir (2016 Sharecroppers'), though.
Sat. we walked down to the theater district, picked up our tix to "A Bronx Tale," and ate next door at Hurley's (of "The Late Show With David Letterman" fame). The show was pretty good, but by then we were spoiled by "Come From Away." Still had lots of time to kill after the show, so we hung out on B'way (closed to traffic for the weekend street market, food trucks & all). Just before continuing north, I noticed a food truck with some familiar foliage painted on it--and realized recreational weed is legal in NYC. All they had left were gummies and two bizarre flavors of lollipops--both THC! So I bought a 5-pack of gummies. Bob freaked out and said if it were up to him, he'd discard them before going through security, lest we be outed by the drug-sniffing dogs. I replied no way--the dogs are there to sniff out explosives and the worst that could happen would be that the gummies would be confiscated. Besides, if he insisted, I would just get royally stoned eating at least one before boarding--as the airport is w/in NYC limits. So I put them in my purse, and nothing happened. (No longer in my purse, though, at least not till I get an MMJ permit--no legal recreational weed anywhere in IL).
Then we walked up into Central Park, rode the carousel, and visited the Chess (now "Chess & Checkers") Pavilion, where my late FIL used to play chess and took Bob when he was little. Got to the 7th Circle of Hell (aka Terminal B in LaGuardia) in plenty of time--only to discover that despite our being TSA Pre again, there was nobody manning that podium--so the only concession we got was getting to keep our shoes on. Of course, I lit up the scanner. They asked if I could remove my cast-brace, but I told them I wasn't supposed to and besides, that arm was full of hardware. So they gave up and wanded & swabbed me. We took off just as the thunderstorm started. Had another Cruset sparkling wine (southern France). My watch buzzed at me: almost 12,000 steps, all my activity rings closed. First time ever!
Yesterday was my gig--went well other than a couple of sr. moments on my own lyrics (hadn't expected to do two a cappella songs I hadn't done in two years). and my singing partner farbling as to which song we had to lower in order to accommodate an AM harmonica and which one we could still do in B flat. Those were songs on which I usually play guitar & dulcimer solos. (The latter song ended up way down in my lower register--and my intro on Bb harp while my partner was playing guitar in G was, uh, "interesting." Was able to grab the G harp just in time for the solo).
Today I was able to drive (very gingerly) to Skokie Hospital to get my brace re-molded. I can finally touch thumb & forefinger again, so I can pull up actual jeans, not just elastic-waist Grandma pants. Still having bra woes, though--got two new front-hook ones I could step into, but they give no lift whatsoever. Bob has trouble hooking and unhooking my bra because he needs more reading correction in his progessives. And I get crosseyed trying to find the groove into which to insert the "pin" half of my front-clip underwire bras (though pinching the clip to remove them is easy). Just got a front-snap one, but I suspect it might not be all that supportive. I can use a couple of extenders to be able to step into my normal bras and (finally) turn them around--though the side wires stick me in the armpits.
New problem, though--front incisors (upper & lower) on L side are sensitive, and the hard palate abutting the gum of my slightly loose second incisor is boggy and painful if I forget and chew on it. Been smearing on Sensodyne a few times today (between brushings); have a bottle of Peridex rinse I never opened--will e-mail my dentist and see if he thinks I should come in now instead of at my next cleaning in Sept. After one Zometa I.V. and three Prolia shots, I'm terrified of ONJ.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Twofer Tuesday! Not too bad a day at work yesterday. Lots of mileage, though. So glad for AC in the car, the humidity is horrendous. Fortunately, I'm doing well with the fans in the house just now, haven't needed the AC. But keeping hydrated is taking work. Even Sadie is moving pretty slowly these days.
Goldie--that corn decobber gizmo is pretty sweet! I had wondered about the parsley when it came, but decided to go ahead and plant it anyway and see what happened. I think someone is trying to tell me that I shouldn't be trying to grow peppers! Phones out for 2 days at the nursing home? Ah, they are supposed to have a back up plan for that. My office's back up plan for when the phones aren't working (which happens periodically) is to use certain people's cell phones. When there is phone trouble each patient (or facility where we are seeing patients) has to be called and notified of the problems and the alternate phone number to use. You or your brother should have gotten a phone call (or e-mail, or some communication) from the nursing home with alternative contact info. Not that it makes the situation any better, but at least families would know what's going on.
Cammy--Amazing how much stuff we use every day that we have to think about when we are going away, isn't it? Hmm, not sure I like that the doc wants you to come in. Maybe she is going to make a mountain out of a mole hill, but please be sure to take someone with you who will be able to catch all the details that you don't like to bother with. Just so that you cansatisfy our curiosity here in the lounge, ok?
Jazzy--Your weekend sounds lovely! We are getting some rain, will be getting some more through this week. The kayak hasn't gotten wet yet, but I'm looking doing that next weekend. Mom and Dick are doing pretty well. Mom threatened to move out recently cuz the bedroom isn't completely finished, told Dick she's not living the rest of her life in an unfinished house. I remember growing up there was always a project going on to finish the house, until they moved into a trailer, and even then she always wanted something done to the place.I'm not sure she'll ever find a "finished" place that will meet her standards. Anyway, Dick agreed to let someone come in and put up the finish work in the bedroom, so she's going to stay for now. Dick built the house they are in over the years, it started out as a camp and he has weatherized it and upgraded over time. It did take him several years to get the ceilings painted, though!Mom's been living with him now for more than 10 years. The Fl trip is in October, still working on saving enough money for the conference, hotel, airfare and boarding for Sadie.
Chi--OMG re: recreational MMJ!I think I would be worried like Bob about taking that into an airport, but it sounds like you were right and there was no issue. What a way to get you steps in! And the ongoing bra saga, you just cannot seem to catch a break! Glad you can at least get jeans on. Worried about the tooth sensitivity and palate bogginess. I hope the dentist can see you sooner rather than later.Even if not ONJ, it sounds like trouble.

LOL Cami, telling Sandy to get another man with more experience with bras! Hoping your visit with the doc is an easy one. With no bad news. Yes, I made some sauce, but don't you guys call it gravy?
Jazzy, you have been on a roll, and really enjoying the summer. More heat today, and I will get more garden stuff to make more sauce. The maters are really coming on. In fact, I will need to make more in a day or so.
Sandy, that was a risky move, taking the gummies on the plane with you. Have you tried them yet? And now problems with your teeth? Good gravy!
NM, that corn thing is pretty cool, of course you don't get nice clean kernels, so lots of juice too. But still yummy. The phones had done this before, so I knew everything was ok. Funny about your mom threatening to leave, I remember this from before, that she wanted a finished house.
Yesterday I called mom, she sounded GREAT, but was crying, happy tears. Says everything is coming together, somehow she thought she was going to heaven at 6, well 6:05 and we are still talking, I told her she was late. Then later she said she didn't think things were right up in heaven and the big Man had fixing up to do, or something. Where oh where does she come up with this stuff! She goes back and forth between good days and bad days.

Goldie- Santa Fe got a huge storm last night with 3 inches of rain in less than an hour (and in the place that gets 8 inches of rain total, as we often do here in the desert). Lots of videos of gushing arroyos and trapped cars.

Oh, my, Jazzy--be careful with flash flooding! My singing partner & I once played a church-coffehouse concert in Shepherdstown, WV, and we were headed out afterward to Dulles to drop him off for a flight to Tuscon and me to Arlington to visit my sis. It was pouring cats & dogs (and gerbils & ferrets) and we had twisty hilly country roads, in pitch darkness, to navigate. The minister warned us as we were loading out to be super-careful and turn around whenever we'd see a puddle up ahead--his teenage son didn't, and drowned because there was an unseen dip in the road. We crawled all the way to the Interstate--in fact, we were stopped twice by state patrolmen who made us detour because the route our GPS calculated had all sorts of flood hazards. (One turned out to be a sinkhole caused by rains weakening the soil beneath the pavement).
We've given up on growing full-size 'maters--our heirloom plants, despite the little placards promising 6-oz. tomatoes on a 5-6' stalk, are definitely cherry-cluster. But boy, are they sweet; and those two plants are bearing lots of them. Two others have started to blossom, and I hope they produce normal-size fruit. Our black raspberries dried up while we were away, before we could pick our share. Oh, well.
Teeth are better--per DDS' instructions, am brushing 3X/day with Sensodyne and rinsing at bedtime with both Listerine and diluted hydrogen peroxide. If that doesn't clear up the bogginess (and today is a bit better) in a couple of days, then he'll make time to see me. He doubts it's ONJ, but may install a reinforcing wire to keep my top incisor from loosening. I also discontinued the Symbicort, per my PCP's instructions, now that my lungs are OK. I wonder if, despite assiduously rinsing after each puff, I might have had a little fungal overgrowth. (Hope I don't have to take--yeccch--Flagyl: not only does it cause things to taste awful, I'd have to teetotal during the course and for at least 4 days after).
Major milestone today. My snap-front bra arrived today, and like the front-multi-hook leisure ones it provides no support--just makes the girls look sort of equally droopy. So I took one of my 40G underwire bras (ThirdLove brand), hooked it up sans extender and was able to step into it and stuff the girls in. "Thelma" is so big that she's skewing my cleavage severely right, so I padded "Louise"'s cup with a removable pad from an old Genie bra. My cups still runneth over, but you can't tell unless I'm wearing something really low-cut. So I ordered three in 42G (the cups of which are the same size of those of a 40H, which ThirdLove doesn't offer). I figure it'll be quite some time before I can otherwise don & doff a bra w/o assistance, so it'll be worth it. Meanwhile, I will shorten the straps on the leisure bras (not adjustable, so will have to sew or use safety pins) to give me a bit more lift.
Didn't drink last night (just didn't feel like it--there was nothing alcoholic I liked that worked with a bunless Kobe beef hot dog, fries and salad. Not gonna waste my booze allowance on beer). DOTD so far is an iced almond-milk latte topped with cold milk froth. Grilling a steak tonight, so will Coravin a little of that Fleurie.

Chi- your posts about the bras crack me up. I am a 40DD and can appreciate the comment about finding something that has them looking equally droopy. You sound like you are handling all of this in great stride.
I got caught in some bad rains a couple years ago during a business trip to Denver (drove up for it, then went over to the San Luis Valley after to visit some friends). I have a Subaru Outback (think you do as well) and you know how great they are in bad weather, but I was worried a couple times on a drive back to my hotel one night that I was going to get in trouble. I know underpasses are the deadliest zones for this, and just stay out of those in heavy rain fall. People hang out in the arroyos here too and that never ends well either.
Best video I have seen today, also up in Santa Fe last night

Good Morning, Loungettes! We're back in a hot, hazy, humid weather rut again. It's supposed to break tomorrow with some t-storms, which would be nice since I'll be home to just sit and watch them roll through, if they do. With Sadie on my lap getting her ears scratched.
Goldie--If the nursing home's phones have been out before then why haven't they tracked down the problem and fixed it? Having phone communication is pretty integral to everyday and emergency functioning, after all! So your Mom had a date and time to meet the Big Man? Who stood who up? Funny the things people will get into their heads.
Jazzy--Scary video! It amazes me how fast water can rise with heavy rain in some areas. Not sure I'd want to be in that water with all that lightening, but those guys do what needs doing regardless of circumstances.
Chi--Glad to hear the bogginess is better. Good thought about the Symbicort andyeast overgrowth. Flagyl is nasty to take. I am still shaking my head at all you are going through with one handed bra donning and associated issues. Just crazy! Glad you found something that works!
Jazzy--is anyone insane enough to try to white water raft those standing waves? One after another after another, makes me think of a dragon or a muddy Nessie.

Heading back to the ortho clinic to pick up a few microfiber knit cast liners--now that the EXOS has been molded more closely, I was getting some friction along the side of my hand; I removed the brace for showering and nearly freaked out when I saw all the dead skin and sweat that had collected on the liner--and the side of my hand was reddening, about to become a pre-blister hot spot. So I put on a "cool & soothe" bandage and cut an old sock to use as a temporary liner while the original air-dried after I washed it. Nice to have one liner to wear, one to wash, one almost dried. I blister at the drop of a shoe. Speaking of which, today a new pair of insoles arrived for my Finn Comfort sandals--which had started to give the balls of my feet hot spots while I was in NY. What a difference--feels like I have new shoes.
Last night Bob brought home a Bota Box of Old Vine Zin--which went surprisingly well with my grass-fed ribeye. Think I'll do fish tonight--maybe pick up a fileted branzino and nuke it in parchment with veggies & fresh herbs, in which case I will drink either an Aperol spritz or rose prosecco.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Thursday! Slept in a bit this ayem, so relaxing to lie there listening to the rain, still kind of struggling to wake up all the way. Glad I've got today off work. Might be a good day to load Sadie in the Jeep and run a bunch of errands that have been building up. My current after work bottle of vino is an Evangelos Bagias California Rose of Pinot Noir that is so yummy, light and lively.
Chi--Glad you are able to catch the friction spot before the skin was badly damaged and can protect it. Nothing so sore as blisters under pressure.

Jazzy, there was a family of 10 that were all killed in a flash flood, here last year. I believe they were celebrating someone's birthday.
NM, I too was wondering how the facility could operate without a phone system. Not sure who stood who up with my mom and the Man upstairs!
Went yesterday to do a little work on the toy hauler, heading out camping on Monday, be back sometime on Friday. Also made another batch of spaghetti sauce, and more maters on the counter to do even more!

Went to RPM Italian on Wed. night--their Aperol spritz was made with a little of their housemade mandarin-cello. WIth our (mostly) seafood we had a Vermentino from Tuscany.
No alc. tonight--didn't go with leftovers.

My maters are really coming on!
Town today, need groceries and finally got a zucchini big enough to make my zucchini boats. Hummingbird festival tomorrow, leaving at 6:30 am. Trying to talk DH into leaving for camping on Sunday, instead of Monday! Only going about an hour and a half from home, but in a much higher elevation, so it will be nice and cool. It's been so hot, I have not been sleeping good at all.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Sadie and I got a good chunk of the errands list done yesterday. We even tried out one of the self-service dog wash booths that are around. It's actually a pretty nice set up, with a couple choices of doggy shampoo, an option for conditioner, and an option for desmelling, vacuuming and drying. When I bought the tokens the man even gave me a towel and a treat for Sadie! We discovered that the washing and rinsing and vacuuming are ok, but the blow dryer was not to Miss Sadie's liking, at all. We also discovered that she can sneak in shakes and get me quite thoroughly wet! It was easier for me to have her up a bit in the raised tub, and less cramped than washing her in the shower here at home, but ultimately not worth the money to go back, unless she needs to be seriously dried off afterwards. Washing her at home has the added benefit of getting the bathroom a deep cleaning when we're done as I wipe up all the shaken off water on the walls, cabinets, mirror, floor, etc!
Goldie--Have a good camping trip!
Chi--you are so good to forgo the wine if it doesn't go with the food!I'm still very much in the stage of "I like the taste of this wine, and I'm drinking it no matter what I'm eating" of pairing. Actually, my afternoon wine glass has become more of a wind down at the end of the day of work or later in the evening, almost a nightcap rather than with meals. I've been thirsty for water with meals with the current humidity. Probably better for me anyway.
Goldie--what are you going to fill your zucchini boats with? The hummingbird festival sounds fantastic! It is hard to sleep well in the heat.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Saturday! The sun is coming out this ayem after a cloudy and sprinkley Friday. Had a couple thunder bumpers roll through, not much rain, didn't see any lightening. Maybe this evening there will be a better storm to watch come through. Not sure what project to work on today, maybe starting in on the sewing room. Plenty of room in the dumpster sodecluttered items can go right out of the room, the house, the basement and my life!
Wow, no activity in the Lounge for 24 hours! What is the world coming to????0 -
Good morning friends- we have been having big storms and soaking rain this week, which is good and bad. The moisture is OH SO GOOD, but sometimes too much at once. There has been flooding around the state but fortunately, did not have any evening events this week that had me out and caught in the deluges.
The night before last, we had so much lightening and heard at one point there were something like 215 lightening strikes in the city. I saw this on FB today (not my picture, credit to Brent Hall as noted) and it sort of speaks to that. Picture that speaks a thousand words?

NM, I’m working on a cleaning/clearing project this weekend too 😀
Jazzy, that photo is just amazing! It’s been dry lately in TX but we get some crazy big storms here.
Tuesday I’ll be having some drinks with a few friends to celebrate my last day of work EVER. Scans are all stable but it’s time to leave the stress behind and move on to better care and SE management. A bittersweet celebration for sure.
Hi Cami, Goldie, Mema, Dara, ChiSandy and anyone I may have missed.

Congrats on retirement, Ilona--make the most of it!
Last night with my Chilean salmon, I had a glass of the Lili Falanghina white wine (from Campania, near Naples) Bob had opened & chilled. Hit the spot. Less-known white varietal but perfect for summer.

NM, in my zucchini boats is Italian sausage, panko bread crumbs, garlic, cheese, walnuts, mushrooms, onions, dill, parsley…..I think that's it! Soooooo yummy. Thanks for the zucchini tini.
Jazzy, I hear ya on too much rain at once and the flooding. Cool lightning shot. I think I have a shot on my phone of my yard during a hard rain.
Illimae, congrats on retiring, just sorry for the reason. And a huge congrats on stable scans. I'm so afraid to get mine in Dec, as I'm pretty sure there is more. Oh well, nothing more I can do about it.
Janky, just jump in, don't worry about catching up, that can sometimes just put you further behind! Hope you enjoyed the g'kids.
Doing more maters today and packing up to leave for camping. Hummingbird festival was fun, also stopped at a little local museum, had lunch at Subway and took our own maters! Drove by where we will be camping, mainly to see if we got a cell signal….that's a big no!

Good morning friends- my fuller weekly check in here today. After a week of rain Mon-Fri, it is a bit drier this weekend. I think my part of the city got about five inches of rain this week from what I have heard, other places got more. Lots of flooding around, but the moisture is oh so needed. We do have one wildfire up in the mountains to the NE of here but have not heard the rains have helped to get it contained yet. Meanwhile, CA has more than its share of problems right now on that front. Another bad year of fires for the west coast.....
Been busy getting more plans in place for my trip back east and 40th reunion that is a month away now. I had made my travel reservations back in June and let a few others know I was coming, but wanted to be sure I got through all my yearly check ups before I committed more fully to event with the reunion RSVP and making plans with others. I put my RSVP in the mail this week to the planning committee, and have my other time there fully allocated (except for one evening I hope to just have some time to myself to do my own things). Otherwise, I will be going day and night for the 4/12 days I am on the ground. Suit case is open and thinking through my packing now.
The reunion page on FB posted this week about the list of people from our class (around 500 students) who had passed since graduation. Some I had heard about, some I did not. I knew this would be coming (figured we would be seeing something on this at the reunion), but glad they shared this in advanced. I think of people I might like to see this time, and feel it would be hard to get there and find out they are no longer with us. But beyond that, they are sharing this list, so they can make a "in memory" board and gathering some memories from fellow classmates that want to share. I have two people on that list I knew better than others, and will send in some nice things about them (including the first boy I ever kissed, funny story I will share next time). I think my dominant feeling coming away from seeing that list is how fortunate I feel to be alive, all things considered.
Besides the reunion, I am very excited to see my nephew who was in the Army for 9 years and came out last year and whom is living back home. He did one tour of duty in Iraq, as well as was living in Germany and a few other military stations. He has been out about a year plus now, and wanted him to be settled before I tried to see him back there, so this summer was the perfect time. When I saw him last, he was a 19 year old boy who was leaving boot camp and heading off to his new life in the Army. He is now going to be 29 this fall, eek! He is my one and only nephew. I stopped yesterday and bought him a couple things at REI yesterday to bring him to give to him for an early b-day present. More meaningful to do in person I think?
Goldie- sounds like you are getting some of the monsoons too. I have a colleague whom just moved to PHX and he said they have been bypassing that area (temps up to 118 F over there). I know you are further north, but down there a lot. Your garden veggies and cooking sound great! I went to the mid week farmers market this week and got a few things. I have a recipe for an heirloom tomato tart I want to do next but need some more tomatoes. If it is good, I will share as I think you have plenty of tomatoes? I pray there is no progression for you friend.
Cami- are you back from Jodie's yet? I know you will be heading in for your test results this week. In your pocket for good results sister.
Janky- you crack me up with the surfing and turfing in the garage. I always say the garage is the "final frontier." How is it going?
Ill- I am glad to hear retirement time has come! I know it will be hard to say goodbye to long time friends, always the hard thing about leaving jobs or places we like to work (I have some of those in my contract work, but not all.....) You have that beautiful cabin to enjoy. May you continue to have good health and clear scans friend.
NM- what are you working on this weekend at the house. A sewing room? I can't sew for the life of me. As a matter of fact, I am going to pick up a bunch of stuff I had repaired by a local seamstress here in town tomorrow. I gave up trying to always do even the simplest repairs as most of the sewing stores here are gone. I don't have the myriad of thread colors, but can replace buttons or mend a simple hole. The items I dropped off needed more help that I could provide. The woman I found has one of those old fashioned seamstress shops I used to see growing up. Pretty cool!
Is Sadie getting her swimming in this summer? How about that kayakity?
Chi- your recovery sounds like it is coming along. There is a wine recommendation I wanted to share with you from my last run to the store up north with the amazing. It is called Picpoul du Pinet and is from an older french grape from Languedoc in France. When I was at the store in May, the woman told me it is often included with other white french wines but rarer to see on it's own. It is a great summer wine, sort of like a pinot grigio but better. Very affordable too, like $12-$14 per bottle. I think you would like it!
http://www.picpoul-de-pinet.com/en/the-wine
Where are the Karen's?
Dara- are you going to your reunion too? Inquiring minds want to know.
Mistyeyes- how are you doing this weekend?
Teka- always enjoy hearing about what is shaking in north country......
Who else has some summer vacations to do?
Wishing everyone a good week.

Well here it is, Sunday evening, 7:30, just had a wonderful picnic with close friends and family - so exhausting on a hot, sunny day, but such awesome memories being made too!
Jazzy - I don't know what happened, but I was froze out of the keyboard so had to restart computer! My hubby is losing patience with My Final Frontier garage I can assure you;) I have a bedroom in the house which is even more disorganzied, so until that is cleared out into the garage I will be 'surfing and turfing'...
I have bought and sold treasures (IMO) for years, and now it has caught up to me and it takes soooooo long to rehome my fabulous finds, which is how the back room and garage have deteriorated (my family's thoughts, I don't feel that way at all), my stuff is amazing.
I need a 'cold' one for sure - cheers! J

Janky- are you on the decluttering thread? NM is there, Ill now too. It's a constant process to purge, just keep chipping away at it.....

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Monday Monkey day! Made pan seared duck breast for dinner last night, this morning the big fry pan I used is missing!Actually, I heard a bang in the middle of the night, and I suspect the pan is in Sadie's crate, just haven't looked yet. My curiosity got the better of me, looked in the crate, no fry pan! Took a quick look around the house and I don't see it!Will have to go on a search after work today. Never a dull moment with Silly Sadie!
Jazzy--Wow, that is some picture of the lightening!
Illi--how did the project go? I didn't get as far as I wanted, but I did make quite a dent and can actually begin to see that an end is in sight! Congrats on the retirement party! Bittersweet, I'm sure. But good for you for taking care of yourself. And HOORAY for stable scans.
Janky--love the surfing and turfing phrase! Progress is progress, so celebrate that! The turfing can be difficult. Keep plugging away, you'll get there!
Chi--that white sounds yummy!
Goldie--that is one yummy sounding recipe! I would never have thought of walnuts. Is that a pic of where you will be camping? It looks like there's some wind damage to the solar panels in the upper left corner, and lots of mud, not my idea of fun camping!
Jazzy--the reunion trips sounds like a lot of fun. Yes, we are at the age where the list of those no longer with us gets longer every year. Great idea to send out the list ahead of time. Your nephew sounds like quite the young man! I bet you'll have a great visit with him.Yes, I started in on the sewing room this weekend, big time. I used to sew all the time, and really want to start sewing again. Little things, mostly, but I have some nice linen material that I want to make some PJs out of for summer. Haven't gotten swimming yet, was getting in the car yesterday when the thunder started in. Haven't had the kayak out, either, and must do that this summer. Not sure why I'm dragging my feet on that other than I need to get a whole stash of bottles out of the Jeep before I can get the kayak in.
Janky--things do have a way of sneaking up on you, don't they?

Jazzy and NM - I am on the decluttering thread, as a 'watcher', I am not sure if I have commented on it yet or not (me memory is so short sometimes ;( ) Oh well at least it is still functioning! It looks like my DOTD will add to my Surfing and Turfing time much more pleasurably than the actual act! Thanks NM xoxoxo
Off to the Doctor for a Shingrix prescription as I really don't want to end up with Shingles, enjoy these summer days all - cheers! janky

The series of 2 Shingrix shots 2-6 mos. apart is >95% effective against shingles. Its predecessor, Zostavax, originally thought to be 65% effective turned out to be 30%, and antibodies were not present at 3 yrs. Anyone who hasn't should get Shingrix. Though Zostavax was recommended for >age 60, and Shingrix originally for >50, it's now recommended at age 40 or 45. (Everyone I know--except my mom--who got shingles was in their 40s or early 50s). Even if you never had chicken pox, Shingrix will prevent that too (in adults--kids should get the chicken pox shot).
I'm gonna drink what I want tonight--my dentist diagnosed a deep-root abscess and I'm off to the perio on Wed.

Oh I'm trying to catch up and taking notes, now I can't read my handwriting. So I'm winging it.
Illi retiring??? Sounds good and bad for u in a way. I get the part of kind of being forced and maybe not quite ready, but more adventures for u now and wishing u luck.
Miss busy Jazzy, wow I can't keep up with u ever. U manage to fit everything in a short time and it's great. The videos were OMG and great to hear. And yrs. ago I never understood the flash flood thing, til lately, there is so much of it now everywhere I get it. It's scary.
Lori <altho ur not here> yes we do call it gravy, not sauce but I try to fit in. But i did notice u said good gravy not good sauce so u see it's not easy. Camping again, well I hope u enjoy it. And I know it's time to start vegging ur ass off for the winter months so u end up enjoying ur work for months to come. Jodie has so many Zucchini, she made 4 loaves of zucchini bread and sent ome 2 huge ones for Leslie. They are beautiful
Jeez I just took 3 calls now I'm all confused.
Kim being gone this last week I've been talking to people I don't get a chance to see this often, well I did talk about u living in Maine, but honestly I talked about Sadie much more and her crate and all had some good laughs o and other things she does. We all enjoyed her antics.
He Janky, misty eyes, Dara <who said she would drop in more often, ahem>Teka and I know I'm missing someone.
Sandy glad to hear u have ur bra thing in better control I think u have. This wole kabobble hasn't stopped u much, I'd be moaning and groning this whole time, ur a tough lady. Sounds like ur voice is doing good, so that's a plus or did I misread or disremember something??? Oh u know I mean well. And as far as wine goes, I'm like NM if u can hold the glass it goes with anything, wine was always my favorite. I sound like I am in AA, but over the yrs. I've just lost my taste for it, and now I think I take to much meds <mostly the pain ones> to start over, but all that u gals talk about sounds so so good to me, I want to try everything.
OK I can't call him FF anymore, he was great to me and I think Jodie has trained him or something. He even asked me if I want to come and stay with them anytime they will fix up the bedroom on that floor to make it comfortable for me to be alone or with people.WOW and Jod said he really meant it cuz now he thinks I'm so smart and we talk about a lot f things and he really cares about me. WTF happened??? But I have to say it was really nice there the whole time I did have my privacy cuz they watched TV in another room and did there own thing and finally my granddaughter and I had some really good talks and met her boyfriend <so cute> and she would be out and call me to see if I wanted anything before she came home. We all got along very well. So what I dreaded turned out great for me, anyway.
LUBS U ALL

Hey Cami - good to hear from you!!
ChiSandy - I have low neutrophils, grade 2 Neutropenia, therefore those vaccines (supposedly) may not be as effective as someone with better neuts, but I will take what I can get!! Just finished cycle 5 of Ibrance so will see near the end of the week to get the first shot...
I giggle so much as Sadie's antics - what a tonic she is!!
Off to dentist - hope I don't get news I don't want to hear - cheers! janky

Well, I just learned that although personal possession of weed in NYC is prosecuted as an "offense" (like jaywalking, littering or doing a "California roll" at stop signs) and punishable by a $25 fine, it's not "legal," at least not for recreational use. Therefore, the gummies I bought from the Weed World truck in Times Sq. last week don't have THC, just CBD (despite what the sales clerk said). Should have realized that if it was the real deal, they wouldn't have taken credit cards. In other words, instead of being paranoid all the way home, from the TSA line at LGA to my flight, I could have just walked across the street from my neighborhood CVS to the "Kratom-Vape-CBD" shop (and maybe have paid a buck apiece less, maybe not). Wonder if there's enough CBD in them do do anything for pain. And I wonder if my hand surgeon would sign an IL MMJ card application--as an alternative to writing more Norco (which I hesitate to request--the "Bonesmart Cocktail" of 1000mg. of Tylenol & 800mg. of ibuprofen seems to be working as well as codeine, at least for dental pain...so long as it doesn't burn a hole in my gut).
OTOH, I could just wait till we use our annual timeshare week in Vegas this fall and buy recreational THC and therapeutic-level CBD edibles perfectly lawfully...but have to use them up before crossing state lines to head home (yeah, right).
Janice, what did your dentist say? Hope it was better news than I got.
And Ilona, good call ditching the shades in your new avatar pic--we can see your eyes and they're lovely!
