ChiSandy- I am giving up the french door style fridge myself next go around. I also am not going for the fridges that have water dispensers and ice makers, because I have repeatedly had part of those breaking on me. A water filter housing break in 2014 flooded my kitchen but fortunately was here to catch it before it flooded my house. I had just come home from vacation and so grateful it did not happen while I was gone (even though I have someone checking in on things periodically, it still could have flooded). I had a problem with the water dispenser leak this year and finally turned off the water in to the fridge this spring and back to ice cube trays. A hassle yes, but too many moving parts that break in these high feature systems.

I like the vintage looking fridges and want one of these!

    Mornin' Ladies,

Wow another Monday already, way to fast.

Lori glad u had a good time camping. And whoa those maters never saw so many u had Beautiful and lots of work tho. But knowing u it will all be done. And winter will have all homemade food....♪♪♫ OK I knew I'd be helped Thank you.

Kim I hope u got some blueberries, personally don't like them or raisons---my sister., cousin and I are all on the same page on that one. And ur always busy girl, sadie alone keeps u busy and she is the perfect furbaby for u or anyone actually. Not so easy to find tho. But I do love how happy u always sound now.

Karen I'm glad u pooped in, we miss u.

Misty good to hear from u too and as far as men go I don't have enough LOL The young ones just feel bad for me that's all, again LOL.

Janky to bad we all couldn't get on ur real beach and just have a good time.

Sandy I knew u'd chime in to give me some educated info for my GF. I think I understand most of it and shared it with her too. well she decided to stay out here.. But I think the big reason as I reminded her was rads will mean driving downtown every day her mom will hate and so will she, plus all the other stuff they might do tests etc. I do hope ur healing is going well. Wow u have way to much going on right now. Personally not a big fan of any kind of pain.

Jazzy I knew ud have plans for the weekend, but when u said Las Vegas I got confused---can u imagine that???---- So there is one in NM??? When did that happen. And the history is amazing. Pics are great and what they're about. U have so many interests, it's wonderful. I love how u just go and do things and each time u wooo it up.

I wish I could drive even if just for running errands. I hate to ASK but I have to, oh they're good about it but I would just like some independence sometimes, my legs just don't work right anymore. OK I'm complaining again.

Well let's hope this week brings some good stuff.

    LUBS U ALL

Hi Karen, some schools here started back in July!

Jazzy, sounds like you had a nice time over in Las Vegas. Love the history.Glad you were home when your ice maker went out. I had never had one prior to coming to AZ. I see your point about having more things to break. Cute vintage fridges, what color are you choosing? My mom is about the same, still repeating the same things and sometimes very confused. My DD is doing ok, she just lost another friend and they had a celebration of life for him on Saturday that she helped manage.

Sandy, I don't bother anymore with cherry tomatoes, just use the larger ones. I'm hoping I won't need to can next year, but I have a tendancy to give stuff away! Sorry about the broken fridge, and only 7 years old? Were you not home at the time? My fridge is about 12-13 yrs old, and it's just a cheapy Maytag.

NM, yes only 100 maters done, 250 more to go, but they are much smaller. I will make the spaghetti sauce today and then my pans of lasagna tomorrow. Is there anything Sadie doesn't eat??? Hmmmmm, a beer margarita!

Cami, good answer on not enough men! And I'm certain your family doesn't mind doing for you.

I don't know if any of you watch America's Got Talent, but there were these 3 sibilings that did an original song that they wrote in dedication to their mom, whom they lost to cancer. Here it is if anyone wants to listen. I'll edit this post later with a picture of my 100 tomatoes canned.

Goldie- I want an aqua one for the kitchen. Remember when they used to make appliances in all those funky colors? We had a mustard colored and olive green ones in my home growing up in the 60s and 70s. I hated those! These colors are more 50s retro.

Cami- we always have to preface when we are going to Las Vegas NM with "I am going to the Las Vegas here, not in NV". This place has an interesting history since the railroad years but also before too with a lot of the well known desperados spending time there. It is one of the few places here that retains the charm of the old wild west of the 1800s. Here is a read you will like!

My downstairs fridge is a super-cheapo top-freezer Kenmore, sans ice maker or even freezer shelves, just a big gaping maw--it's easily 15 yrs. old. At the time, I had a Kenmore in the kitchen too, with an icemaker in the top freezer and interior water dispenser (got really tired of filling Brita dispensers)--but it barely made it 8 yrs before the fridge door broke off and the compressor motor croaked. Kenmore's (Sears') service techs were slow and really snotty. My first fridge (in this house--before we moved here, we lived in apts. and took whatever the landlord had installed ) was a top-freezer KitchenAid, which made it 15 yrs before it began falling apart bit by bit (the icemaker never failed, though). These days, though, nothing is really built to last even 10 yrs, not even the simplest models (except for those Big Chill models Jazzy linked to--and they're only warranted for a year, w/no extensions available; half again as expensive as anything in the stores, and I'd have to wait till after Labor Day for delivery (and all they'd do is bring it inside, plug it in and maybe take the old one away).

I went to Abt today and told the salesman my ideal would be a bottom-freezer (they tend to be bigger than top freezers) with interior water dispenser and an icemaker in the freezer. Well, the closest they had to those were either French doors or top-freezers--and way too small a capacity. (I've gotten spoiled by 30 cu. in.--don't judge). So what I did was keep the repair appt. for Fri.--and if a condenser-cleaning (by a young strong repairman who can move the thing and shut off the waterline) doesn't do the trick (or it'd cost too much and take too long to get parts), I ordered a newer LG--same size, improved ice dispenser, door-in-door (to avoid having to expose the whole fridge to room air just to see what's inside or get a glass of milk or wine), three-drawer freezer to be delivered Sat. morning, with half the cost of the service call applied to the purchase price. Same price and capacity as the one I already have. Only this time, I'd take better care of it--not overfill or block vents, and have someone in to vacuum the coils and do maintenance at least annually.

CR advises that if an appliance needs a major repair more than halfway through its life expectancy, to buy a new one. Their estimate of 13 yrs. is for all fridges, including even the simplest (and that's for ones built w/in the past 5 yrs). So at 7 yrs., I'm doing the right thing--and if the service call does the trick I can always cancel the delivery of the new one. Meanwhile, I will be super-attentive towards the basement cheapie and pray it holds on longer.

DOTD: a Boylan diet root beer, 4 yrs old. (I was looking for stuff to discard from the downstairs fridge to make room, and thought diet sodas would certainly spoil by now...but Boylan doesn't use aspartame). I do think I'll ditch the old Clausthalers, since they're probably quite skunky by now. My housekeeper put some ice into an ice bucket and stuck it in the downstairs freezer, and though it's starting to melt & congeal, it's still breakable so I can chill the soda or make myself an iced coffee.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Day two of heat advisories with added air quality warnings added in for fun today. Another interesting little event at work yesterday. Clinical Manager #4 started out complaining (as usual) thatshe didn't know that CM#1 was not working yesterday, so she didn't know I was working (CM#4 is on the list of people who get the e-mail every week, and who has gotten several copies of the e-mail with my schedule for August). Later she is asking if I can get out of working for the other office because they are going to need me in the main office, asanother nurse is leaving and the 2 newest nurses are still in orientation. I reminded her that Augusta was already scheduled out, she asked why so much time in the other office, I told her "They asked me to help cover while a nurse is out on medical leave." Her response--"We need you now, and you belong to us." I just shrugged, but I "belong" to the main office? I don't think so! A little later Ms Manipulative nurse (who wants to be management) asked me what I like to do when I work for the main office.I said "I don't really care, what I really want is to know for sure if I am working or not on any given day." A few minutes later CM#4 is asking me (again) when I am available this month so she can "pre-schedule" me, and maybe CM#4 should take over my scheduling so there is only one person doing the scheduling.Yeah, right. ALL the CM's do scheduling. I see a showdown coming up in the near future. One that I think I shall enjoy!

    Sadie says "Woofies" to everyone!

Jazzy--those old style fridges look great, love the colors!

Cammy--You don't like blueberries? How can someone not like blueberries? Oh, well, I'll eat your share, OK? And don't tell anyone, but I was halfway through Jazzy's post before I realized that she was talking about Las Vegas in New Mexico! Not being independent must be really hard. I can't imagine not being able to drive. Someday I will have to face that, won't I?

Goldie--Sadie doesn't eat celery, but she will play with it. I've never had a dog that like veggies as much as she does.

Chi--sounds like you've got the whole fridge thing under control.Regular cleaning does make a difference, I've found.

Jazzy yes, on the green and yellow fridges. We had a pink one at our up north trailer, in Michigan. The turquois is pretty and a southwest color.

Sandy, hope you can get the fridge fixed.

NM, I don't think office 1 will ever get chit in order. Guess it makes for a nice little giggle for you tho. Sadie likes her veggies, eh?

Hears my pic from canning. I have a large roaster full of sketti sauce, hoping I can get 3 pans of lasagna from it.

    image

The 6 quarts in the back are from the other day, it's tomatoes, onions and green peppers, I can use those for a several recipes. 13 pints of plain maters and 7 half pints, hoping to share those with my mom. She loves eating my tomatoes cold and right of the jar. One of my brothers would have to keep them at their house, afraid they might disappear if I leave them at the nursing home. And then I also have 6 quarts of sketti sauce frozen in freezer bags.

    Mornin' Ladies

Lori ur a wonder, that is so much work and yet u always do it and seem to enjoy ur garden more than most people. Were u always like that??? But I am sorry to hear ur DD lost a friend. So sad.

Wow Sandy u are a shopper for real. I never was, I do more on line now that I've ever done But u really know what u want and why. That alone would keep me busy, but u enjoy that too. And Yep I was thinking about Gordy too, How is everything going for him, I hope well.

Kim I enjoy hearing about "ur office" now, before it was so difficult ffor u and u had no control. Now all has shifted and ur finally happy, but it took a while, now it all worth it. And u've made sadie so much happier on top of that. Ad shes worth it.

Jazzy reunion coming YAHOO, it's going to be fun, for sure.

Wishing hello to everyone else, this takes me so long to write, between the phones and my brain, I forget so much.

Those Big Chill fridges are cool, but none of the colors would go with my kitchen (remember when Harvest Gold, Avocado, and Tomato were the color schemes du jour back in the '60s & '70s?). They're about $500 more and smaller than the LG door-in-door I bought (probably--highly unlikely the repair guy can stick around long enough to determine whether a coil-cleaning will have done the trick; and after a couple days of going up & down the stairs carrying food in my good hand and using the bad arm to steady myself on the one banister we have is getting kinda old, especially since we had a little flooding today due to massive storms). If money were no object, I'd want a Hestan (if it's good enough for chef-restaurateur Thomas Keller...)--but at $10K for the most barebones model with no icemaker, money is definitely an object.

So this morning my housekeeper & I ferried the last of the still-good stuff--washed the beginnings of the faint dead-fridge smell off the bottles and jars as best we could--down to the basement fridge (to make room, had to toss ancient beers, diet sodas with aspartame, and de-refrigerate other sodas since Gordy is no longer here to drink them). Discarded everything else and hope the garbage collector comes tomorrow.

Headed out to see Dr. Bark ("the Pot Lady") just as the heavens opened up--my cell phone kept beeping flash flood warnings all the way up to Evanston. Pouring so hard I couldn't see the house numbers after I parked (despite GPS), so walked up & down the block getting soaked till I found the house. I was positively dripping wet--had to take off my cast-brace & liner, and my sandals were squeaking & squooshing. The appt. went well (she did ask if I was willing to try "the keto lifestyle," and tsk-tsked about my taking Prolia shots, but backed off when I said no, thanks. "Had to at least ask," she admitted). Have one more appt. in Sept. then 3-4 mos. (current state backlog) before the card comes in. Meanwhile, she suggested I start with CBD oil (oral & cream--my primary's P.A. suggested I ask for her recommendations as to brands). So I got a small bottle of the oil and a small jar of cream, and per her suggestion will take a few drops at bedtime instead of Xanax & my Tylenol/ibuprofen "cocktail." She said to use the cream for joint pain. "Receptra" is the brand she sells. She says once I get my card I can switch from the oil to the edibles from the dispensary, whose bud-tender knows which strains to suggest. She agrees with my primary's P.A. that you can't trust the purity or potency of the stuff in the vape/kratom/CBD shops or health food stores--and confirms that the gummies from the Weed World trucks are basically flavored sugar with just enough terpenes to smell like pot.

After waiting out the worst of the storm (and stuffing tissues into my cast liner to dry it out somewhat), I treated myself to some gelato at an Argentinian gelateria (apparently Argentine gelato is a thing), and bought a boatload of boxes of baking soda and a couple of air fresheners for the dead fridge & freezer to keep them from stinking up the house (that musty smell is perceptible) till the new fridge arrives. Get to my alley, pull up to my garage, hit the remote, and.....nada. Can't hit my flashers, open the gate & side door and reset the breaker because there are cars honking behind me, so I go all the way up and out of the alley and down my block--only to find someone backing into the space in front of my house. So I had to park several houses away, hauling two bags of groceries & my umbrella. Got into the house, back out to the garage, and on the third try was able to get the GFCI button to stay depressed long enough to open the garage door. Dashed back down the gangway and down the block to my car, and made it into the garage before anyone could steal stuff. Hope it holds for when Bob gets home. (Whenever it storms, water gets in and trips the GFCI in the garage). Go down to the basement to put fresh eggs into the fridge--and there's a puddle in front of the washer & dryer (gonna have to get that drain rodded). Then back upstairs to change cast liners and take a hairdryer to the cast to dry the foam interior.

DOTD? Well, if Bob is willing to haul a bottle of rosé or cava up from the basement fridge & back down again...Meanwhile, after a stressful day, I made myself a latte. Here's the drill: take Aeroccino frother pitcher down in right hand, gingerly step downstairs one stair at a time, gently steadying myself with my L hand on the banister. Put pitcher atop the dryer next to the fridge. Open fridge, retrieve & open milk (put cap next to pitcher). Take lid off pitcher (need the lid to get it back upstairs w/o spilling), hold its handle in L hand, use R hand to pour milk from bottle. Put pitcher back on dryer, put lid back on it. Re-cap milk & put it back in fridge. Go back upstairs, carrying pitcher in L hand, holding banister w/R. Froth the milk, pull a couple of Nespresso capsule shots into it, clean pitcher, drink latte. Not going for seconds.

    Mornin' Ladies.

Oh wow sandy what an adventure just leaving the house and coming home. to bad u couldn't have called the app't in, jeez u ad to feel like a drowned kitten. <<but doesn't die> And 10K for a fridge sounds insane to me, even if I had the money, just so I had one that works I'd be happy, I would go for an ice-maker tho, that I like. OK then u HAD to have a latte, jeez another adventure, after going thru all that either ur an addict or ur mashugana. I always loved that word LOL. Ur day sounds exhausting to me tho.

I talked to my cousin yesterday she sounded not bad we talked about 20 mins. and did some laughing, I always like that. As soon as I hung up my BFF from Florida called and we talked for about an hr. Of course she's still grieving and it's hard to help anyone who has lost a Dgtr., but we talked a lot about it and I hate when people tell her she has to get thru this. It hasn't even been 1 yr. and I believe everyone is different and there is no time limit and told her so and not listen to anyone but me. So we just talked about anything she wanted to talk about.

Then my GF called I think I told u she decided to keep her mom around here and she's already happy about that decision, that was hard---her family made her feel like she was doing all the wrong things, which is bull chit, So now she's all set with her mom doing everything just minutes away. I felt relief about that.

It dawned on me hw really late in the summer it is. I haven't even been swimming at Jodie's. She installed stairs with a railing for me too, everything just seemed to go so fast. Joey starts school soon and u all know how I feel about that, no more late nite talks and scary movies.

My cousins grandson just opened up his second restaurant in Elmhurst, not so far from us and my GD started working there with the opening. I'm anxious t see what it's like. It went over huge in Oak Lawn further from us but every area is different but I hope it does just as well. And my GD likes working there.

Oh my cousins GS has a cat he has to give away now, so I looked into it. It's a teacup cat, but I read it tends to have spine problems and other things and I know we cant afford those types of bills so I have to pass. But it's so cute. His wife has developed allergies to the poor cat and it's 2 yrs old and cost them a fortune <to me> Oh well I'll keep waiting for the right one.

OK I hope everyone has a great day.

Good Morning, Loungettes!I had an exciting evening last night. The Jeep broke down on the way home from work, probably the alternator according to the people I've talked to so far, but won't know for sure until tomorrow afternoon. Of course, I had to be stranded on the side of the road during a lovely to watch thunder and lightning storm. Got lucky and the tow truck driver could give me a ride home. Got home and the power was our--not a surprise given that I was watching the power company trucks looking for the problem while I was waiting for the tow truck. Fortunately, power came back on before my phone battery died totally.I've got a rental car reserved, and am working on a ride to pick it up.Already swapped working today for working Friday, so I can take my time. Sadie is still confused how I got home without the Jeep last night!

Goldie--I don't think office 1 will get it's act together either, not while certain people are working there. But the second office is a working on getting me to come work for them. There's a Clinical Manager position open and the Director is going to talk to the higher ups about making it a part time position. I've applied, and am interested to see what happens.Worst that can happen is they won't consider making it a part time position and nothing changes for me. Best that could happen would be a very good deal for me!So, we shall see. Love the cans of sauce, they would look really good in my pantry!

Cammy--Yes, things are much better now, and Sadie approves!

Chi--Wow, for $10K of fridge you'd think it would have an icemaker!!Talk about water, water everywhere! And a lot of work for the latte. Not to mention all the work of just getting home!

Cammy--Congrats to your grandson on the second restaurant opening! Poor kitty, hope it finds a good home soon. You are so right, there is no time limit on grieving.

Goodness, gracious Sandy. What a day! And then to be afraid that someone will steal out of your garage in the just the time it took you to grab your car and head for the garage.....yowsa!

Cami, I am so very sorry that so many around you are having health issues, or other problems. I know you hate to see Joey go back to school. He will have his little vacations, and you can have your late nights/movies/talks them. And OMG, how cute is that kitty. Never heard of a tea cup cat. But ya, you don't need a fur baby that could end up costing you a ton of money you don't have.

NM, I hope the car doesn't cost you much and good luck on CM position. Poor confused Sadie!

Got my 3 pans of lasagna made, and enough sauce left over to have sketti for dinner. Canning is on a hold for the time being. Going to defrost my upright freezer today and reorganize the stuff in the freezers, as they tend to get thrown around over time, and becoming unorganized.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Thirsty Thursday! Should hear what's wrong with the Jeep this afternoon. Got a rental and got it picked up yesterday. Then vegged for the rest of the day in the AC in the living room. This heat and humidity is totally draining me out, even with the AC in the house and car! The rental car has great AC, but I don't think it has cruise control. Ah,well, it will get me from point A to point B.

Goldie--ah, yes, the freezer defrost/reorganization process, what fun! I'll have to do that this fall. 3 pans of lasagna, WOW!Nice to have on hand.

NM, cleaning the freezer in the summer and when it's hot, has it's advantages! And having 3 pans of lasagna definitely comes in handy during the course of the year. Are you working today? Good luck with Pearl.

Nice to take a break from the canning! Still need to do some salsa and then some zucchini relish.

Ugh. Woke at 9:30 to raging headache--realized I hadn't taken my Tylenol & ibuprofen since 11pm. Stumbled downstairs to take it (forgot to bring the little baggie with my nighttime doses upstairs when I went to bed), checked the weather report and found today is a "mold action alert day:" the spore count is so high that people with allergies are advised to stay indoors with A/C running. Ragweed & weeds "moderate" (so those with hay fever will also feel lousy).

Went back upstairs, sat down, and my lower back went out on me. I guess I was due for it--been over a year since the last episode. So much for going downstairs for food, ice packs, etc--have to raid my emergency stash of single-use ice packs. Was so proud of being able to ratchet down the ibuprofen to 2 pills, but had to take the other 2, plus Baclofen. Hadn't planned to go anywhere today anyway. May not even get out of my nightgown...certainly not putting on a bra. Looks like a caftan day...

DOTD: coffee plus whatever I'm taking my meds with. No alcohol with a muscle relaxer & this much ibuprofen in me.

    OMG it's quiet in here.

Kim as I was reading ur post I'm sorry I did start to laugh, t was like a snowball heading to an igloo. It wasn't going to stop. By now u know what the problem is and hopefully it didnt cost to much. I know how that can get out of hand. And as long as u have A/C be happy, that to me in this weather is horrendous.

Sandy ur whole body is betraying u at one time. But ur back has to be horrible. Not being able to get around is a PITA literally. Uve got to many things going on right now, I hope u get thru this quickly, someway something has to stop hurting so bad. And now with allergies I'm sure that doesn't help, but just stay where u r and maybe u can get whatever u really need brought upstairs to u, so u dont have to think about that.

Lori where are u getting all this energy??? Especially in the heat. I know this winter u'll be happy but it's so much. And u have more veggies too. U didn't show us that yet. I luv hw u organize every vegetable on the table and take pics. It's so cute.♪ ♫♪ see.

Jazzy I know it's hot where u r too.How are u holding up in NM. I think everyone is getting this heat at one point. I haven't left my house since I was at Jodie's so I haven't been bothered by it. But Jazzy u've been out a lot and keep going. Ahh ur young that's why.

Cami, I have been alternating ice packs with heating pads (a warm shower helped) and painkillers. Still hurts like hell, though I can get around (my mantra is "it's only pain"). I fear that a night of sleep will make it "rust out" again.

But I did allow myself some cava with dinner tonight (the bottle is in the ice chest). First drink I've had in days.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy TGIF day! The humidity has broken here, and boy the rain that came down with those thunder bumpers yesterday was amazing!Could have put shampoo onmy head, stood on the deck and gotten a shower massage! Poor Sadie didn't get in quite quick enough when one of them started and got her back and ears all wet and was looking very sorry for herself at one point. Then she (deliberately) came over next to me and shook off. Then looked at me and I swear she smiled! Gotta love the mutt's antics.

Goldie--yup, advantages to defrosting in the summer, alright!

Chi--talk about when it rains it pours! You poor thing! Glad you have an emergency stash of comfort stuff upstairs. Sounds like a good idea to stay in the nighty, or a caftan. Be comfy and don't move around too much.

Cammy--I was expecting to hear from the mechanic yesterday but haven't heard yet, hopefully will hear today. And looking back on the whole thing it is kind of funny, so laugh away!

Chi--I have this mental picture of a metal spinal cord with rust spots all over it now! Hope yours doesn't "rust out" while you sleep.

    Countess Bunty Rothschild's DOTD:

    Kingdom of Rust

    Ingredients

    • 1 1/2 ounces Amaro Montenegro
    • 3/4 ounce orgeat (almond-flavored syrup)
    • 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
    • Ice
    • 1/2 ounce single-malt whiskey
    • 1 lime twist, for garnish

    How to Make It

    Step

In a mixing glass, combine the amaro, orgeat and lime juice. Fill the glass with ice and stir for 10 seconds. Strain into a chilled, ice-filled rocks glass and float the whiskey on top, slowly pouring it over the back of a bar spoon near the drink's surface. Pinch the lime twist over the drink and add to the glass.

    Mornin ladies,

Uuhh Kim I don't like that u didn't hear from the mechanic when he said he should get back to u. OK just settle with the rented car for a little bit. They must really be busy to many peeps have car trouble right now and most of it is probably AC in the cars. And crazy Sadie I so enjoy that pooch, u should write a children's book about her antics and stashnand how she visits sick people It's got all life lessons right there when u think about it.

Damn Sandy u reminded me of what my dad would say.. Do whatever u want but if u don't drink wine it'll never work, so just drink the wine. He certainly had no training as u see, except many many yrs. ago one of his best friends was a Dr. and they used to do home visits then. He;d call my dad and ask him to go with and the Dr. would just say he was his assistant. Boy they got away with so many things those days. It was stupid tho, I mean my dad helped deliver babies and gave shots etc. Crazy old days. and crazy people.

OK weather is supposed to being reasonable this week all of a sudden. See to me that's way to fast, now fall will rush thru than winter will stay a while I hope not but for some reason it goes like that.

Have a good day ladies, and Lori expect to see more pics. Can't help myself.

Cami, the other things in the garden aren't flourishing like the maters have. I also have beans that are not ready yet, yellow squash, zucchini, green peppers, pablano peppers, cukes and watermelon that isn't doing anything yet. As for the heat, I just stay inside. Ha ha, what is it you want more pictures of??? LOL. How is Leslie doing?

NM dang, what could be taking so long to at least look at Pearl to determine the problem. LOL at Sadie coming over to you shaking and then smirking. That was a smirk, not a smile.

Heading out today. Need to go to Holbrook to get the new truck it's annual oil change. Much more expensive on a diesel vehicle, than gas ones. Will stop and get all you can eat fish at this little dive place, but the fish is really good.

Took a whole Xanax (.5 mg) and a 10 mg Baclofen, plus 2 ea. Tylenol & Advil at bedtime--and 1/2 a dropperful of CBD oil--slept like a baby, was able to roll over during the night with some pain but not agony. This a.m., repeated the Tyl + Advil and Baclofen but not Xanax. Sitting around in a caftan (distressingly, you can still see the outline of my boobal asymmetry--poor Thelma is hanging down to my waist while Louise looks like she'd had plastic surgery instead of a lumpectomy. I patched up my poor peeling "no-chip" (hahahaha) manicure rather than drive or take an Uber over to the nail salon for a repair, as I have a full mani coming up on Wed.

And now a moment of silence. The repair tech came over, took one look/listen/and feel, and pronounced the compressor on my fridge dead. It would take $1000 plus labor to replace, with an estimated 2-week wait for the part and at least another week for the service appt. to install it. (And nobody wants to work on the sealed LG compressor-condenser system). So here's the obit:

LG French Door Bottom-Freezer Fridge--Aug. 6, 2011-Aug. 10 (went into an irreversible coma Aug. 6), 2018. May it rest in pieces (I am keeping both the icemaker collection and the ice-storage bin from the freezer compartment. Maybe the waterline filter too, as it's still got 3 mos. left on it, but not if keeping the H2O at room temp has caused bacteria to grow). Gone too soon at age 7.

Been drinking tapwater--still tastes ok because the annual Aug. Lake Michigan zebra-mussel-die-off has yet to occur (makes the water smell like bleach and taste like dead fish); if it happens before the new fridge's waterline is up & running, we'll just drink the bottled spring water we use for our coffee machines.

Since I was able to actually fasten my bra behind me yesterday (albeit with an extender) I will do so now and swap my caftan for a nice dress or pants ensemble. DOTD is whatever wine goes with what we order at RPM Steak tonight.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Saturday! The mechanic called first thing yesterday ayem, it is the alternator, got the part coming and the Jeep is going in Monday afternoon, should be able to get it back by the end of the day. Gonna cost me a bit under $700.Could be worse, I suppose. I will be glad to get Pearl back, though. I'm driving a little compact car and feel totally invisible on the road. Really don't like it, BUT, it's doing what I need it to do and for that I am grateful. Sadie will be, too, cuz then I can take her swimming.

Cammy--the mechanic did call first thing Friday ayem, so I'm not upset. It is amazing what doctors used to be able to do and get away with by our standards. I'm not so sure all the changes are for the better. I'm looking forward to the improved weather, and working hard to pretend that fall and winter aren't coming at all!

Goldie--I don't think it took that long to get the Jeep looked at, I had it towed after hours Tuesday, it got looked at Thursday, will get it back on Monday. Last time I needed unexpected work the dealer had the Jeep for amonth! It's a small dealership/mechanic shop but close to home and reliable, so I like to use them. Diesel engines only need oil changes once a year? That's pretty good! I'm taking Pearl in for one almost every month. Enjoy the fish, good fish is a very good meal!

Chi--Glad you found a combo that lets you sleep in comfort.I can see where the boobal asymmetry would be annoying. Poor LF French Door fridge, to die so young, so tragical!Hooray for being able to hook the bra, too!

    Mornin' Ladies.

Sandy R.I.P. ur fridge and taking parts out is like a fridge's way of being a donor to u. How honorable this appliance is, yes way to soon but again there is no way of knowing when bad things will happen---it's just a way of life. But knowing what u need ur grieving period will be short and the end result will be u getting a new one. Wow u really knocked urself out last nite, hey whatever it takes, but getting a goodnite's sleep helps ur body heal. Sounds like ur doing better, BTW my condolences to all of ur other appliances in ur home. I usually take 2 .05 Xanax before bed, but for some strange reason I wait about 2 hrs after I take my morphine and codeine < like that makes a big difference> But in my head it does. LOL

Well another get well soon for Pearl and it sounds like she'll be as good as new, but I can understand u not liking another type of car to drive. Kim we had a hard summer but it WILL be over soon so u'd better get ur swimming in and whatever else u and Sadie like to do. But Sadie seems wonderful to me to get to be with on snowy nites so either way ur nites are good.

Oh Lori u know I like the pics of all ur veggies and fruits spread out so we can see them all, but as long as I member I never saw so many maters. So u do have ur hands full for sure.

Some good news. My cousin saw her rads dr. and said that they can do rads and a 95% chance of getting it in time. Te cancer looked pretty new and it was small and this was all good. Oh I was so relieved and we were both so happy. But then her husband told the Dr. that she's been getting dizzy so now she first has to have an MRI on her head <she was so mad at him> but she might as well get everything checked, we did LOL cuz the 3 of us always get dizzy and fall, but we figure it's just as u get older and tke so many meds. Chit it better not be anything. This will just delay the rads about a week so the Dr. said that's no big thing. She just wants to make sure. So such a turn around in one day.

OK one of my men came over last nite, left about 3AM. These young people ohhhh I don't have energy for, but they are fun. And since I have a back door right by my room no one is bothered by any opening or closing. But my kids do think they are all crazy. But I really enjoy this job for this reason, during the day I had talked to another one of the guys and he so cutely says I love u kiddo when he says goodbye and they make me LOL, even when it's crazy.

Well that's about it and it's good.

ChiSandy, glad you slept like a baby. I'm doing okay with sleep but would like to have better!

I have a pair like Thelma and Louise, but I won't steal their names. Hmmm. Blondie and Tootsie? Betty and Veronica? Ellie Mae and Granny? <-- Easy to decide which is which.

Bah ha ha, obit for your fridge, too funny Sandy.

NM, I don't know if a diesel only needs an oil change once a year, altho that is what I said. It's just that the truck only goes out when we go camping. So only a couple times a year. Hopefully you will have Pearl back tomorrow.

Cami, glad to hear good news, re your cousin. Lol at "one of your men".

Heading out to the toy hauler, DH needs to do some work on it, and I'll do some cleaning inside.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Sunday Funday! Cloudy here this ayem, but pleasantly warm and dry. Planning on a nice quiet day of puttering around with Sadie.

Cammy--Yes, Sadie and I are going to get our summer swimming in VERY soon and get the kayak out at least once! And Sadie is great to cuddle up to on cold nights. These warm nights she prefers to sleep on the floor. Can't say as I blame her! But she does come up on the bed for our nightly cuddle, pet and belly rub routine. Sounds like overall good news for your cousin, glad to hear that. Praying the MRI of the head just shows that you are related and ditzy-headed females. And entertaining male company until the wee hours of the morning??? You are such a loose woman! But I'm glad you are enjoying yourself!!

MuddlingThrough--I like Ellie Mae and Granny, it gives me this amazing mental picture! Or maybe Upstairs and Downstairs?

Jazzy--now I'm going to have a bouncy song in my head all day!I love it!

Goldie--Super low mileage would explain yearly oil changes! I'm hoping to get Pearl back tomorrow, too!
