Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Twofer Tuesday! It's becoming an interesting week at work. I'm working for the main office this week, Clinical Manager #4 is pretty much running the show, CM #1 and office director are out of the office/out of state at various functions, CM #5 is still pretty quiet. CM #4 is still going on and on about how CM #1 usually takes care of scheduling the per diem staff, so CM #4 doesn't think to look at that when CM #1 is off. How many times have I heard that now? SMH. She must have gone off on that for 5 minutes after I came in asked if she had work for me yesterday, I wasn't sure cuz I never heard anything from the main office after I sent out my availability for the week. I was taught growing up to always acknowledge communications regarding important items (like scheduling). I remember my Mom telling me over and over again that "good manners" are important. But now I wonder if that upbringing has led me to expect too much from other people, especially in the work setting! Sadie, on the other hand, ALWAYS says hello when I come home!Bye the way, where ever she had the big fry pan hidden she took it out of hiding and put it on the deck while I was at work yesterday. Don't know what to think about some of her shenanigans!
Goldie--better the yard than the campsite, that looked wet and muddy! Have a good time camping.
Janky--YW!
Chi--OUCH!!!
Cammy--You know the rules, you don't have to ketchup, you can jump in where you are!I am so glad that Sadie could entertain you and the others! She love attention in just about any form, and long distance is as good as any other! So glad your visit went so well. Funny how people can change for the better. So happy you had quality time with the granddaughter. That relationship is very special.
Chi--The "bone smart cocktail" has been getting a lot of air time in the medical world recently. Supposed to give better pain relief than most narcotics, to the point of some talk about using it for post-operative pain control instead of narcotics to help with the addiction crisis. I've had a few patients who swore by the CBD oil for pain, anxiety, appetite, sleep, and general feeling good. I've talked with some who say it does nothing. I suppose it's like any other chemical, works for some, not for others, and a lot depends on the quality of the product.

Another warm, sunny day here, love it!!!
Chi - My teeth are showing no major issues, so I am scheduled for October, just ahead of my Australia trip. I lose my dental coverage January 1 as I turn 65 December 24, so I am hoping any thing that comes up between now and then will be dealt with with a bit of help from insurance. How are you feeling? Recreational marijuana use will be legalized in Canada October 17, so on our return from Australia we can imbibe should we choose...Medical marijuana has been legal for quite a while though i have not yet felt the need.
There sure is not much activity on the boards the last couple of days, maybe everyone is too 'overheated' with heat waves or on vacation. Cheers!

Morning DahhhhLinKs,
I'm jes poopin in here, no time to read to ketchup.
Saw the BS yest….FINALLY have a date for the surgery - SEP 7. Doing a happy dance!!!
Have 3 or 4 other appts tween now and then so praying for no glitches and I can get this overwith.
I have to call the PS and see if he is avail for that date also. BS won' do the surgery unless PS is there. I get that. So more calls for me to make today. Sss'ok tho.
Been so ungodly HOT around here the last few weeks. Walk outside and the heat takes my breath away. Windy every day tho….ugh.
Janky - YAY on legal MMJ. I have been using it for sev years now. The edibles, not smokables. I'm sure that is why other meds are working so well. Yes, my PET and Bone scan were 'very good' and I'm sure the maryjane contributed to the good scans.
Will try and get another post in later….Missin all mese goils.

My local MMJ dispensary gave me the names of three docs who specialize in assisting patients with qualifying conditions to apply for a medical cannabis card (as the IL statute calls it), whose treating physicians have been unwilling to approve. I'm wondering how they can do so without seeing medical records--the request for which would tip off the recalcitrant physicians. I figure printouts from my patient portals of my After Visit Summaries that mention breast cancer might be sufficient. I'll find out tomorrow night (day is taken up with perio and ortho surgeon appts--w/in 1/4 mi. of ea. other with a good 2-3 hrs. between them...will spend the interim at nearby Old Orchard mall doing some retail therapy--and maybe Shake Shack (not the burgers) if my mouth is too sore for sushi or Mexican (Rick Bayless has a fast-food joint at Macy's).
Meanwhile, I found that in the interim between taking the Bonesmart Cocktail and its kicking in, putting some dilute food-grade clove oil on a Q-tip and applying it to the achy teeth helps immensely. (10 drops in a T. of grapeseed or other neutral oil). And oregano oil (undiluted--it's meant for direct ingestion) on a Q-tip helps soothe the boggy palate blob--it has antiseptic properties.
DOTD with planked salmon was Zardetto rosé prosecco.

chisandy - I hope your mouth settles soon and heals quickly, glad you found something that helps! Cheers😴

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Hump Day! Another nice day at work for the main office yesterday, got to spend some nice quality time with 2 patients and their family members. Clinical Manager #1 is back in the office and now she and the director of the second office are fighting over my August schedule! The director asked for 3 days a week for 6 weeks or so while a staff member is out on medical leave, I sent out an e-mail (goes to both office directors and all the CM's) proposing a schedule of alternating 3 days a week and 4 days a week, with one day at the main office on the 4 day week, all days at the second office on the 3 day weeks. Second office director and CM both e-mailed me the same day I sent that e-mail out with an ok, never heard from the main office. Now the main office CM #1 is saying she would have like to have been involved in the scheduling process.DUH. And now, all of a sudden, I'm getting calls or e-mails or texts every afternoon saying if I am going to be working the next day at the main office or not. Hmm, do you think someone has realized I have some value to the office after all??? I am sitting here smirking. Sadie is sitting here doggy smirking with me. Not to mention saying "I told you so!"
Janky--I didn't know that Canada had legalized recreational marijuana! I hope the US follows suit eventually. So much time andmoney wasted on monitoring and enforcement and such of something that seems relatively harmless. At least as harmless as alcohol.
Mema--HOORAY for having a surgery date! I've heard that it's been really, really hot in NV lately. I'm sure the MJ helps with the scans and general feeling of well-being. And that's a good thing.
Chi--Good question about the medical records requests and MMJ card. Around here most offices have people who deal with medical records requests, and the doctor never even knows about them. Even so, the patient has the right to copies of the medical records and to have them sent to anyone they want. Lots of people probably just get a copy for personal records and give copies of that to other practitioners. It's really funky, the doctor's office owns the medical records, but the patient owns the medical information. Glad the oils are helping the achy teeth and boggy palate. Amazing what that stuff can do!

Hi Mema- good to hear from you and glad you hear you have a surgery date. Thanks for sharing so we can be in your pocket on that day. I know usually the BS and PS are in the surgical room together if there is recon to be done (happened for my sister that way after her MX).
Cami- think you are getting your test results today and in your pocket friend
On the run today but waving hi to everyone else!

So I went to the periodontist, who took a panoramic X-ray and found that there were no external irregularities along the root of the tooth that my dentist said was abscessed--but that there was definitely an infection between that tooth and the one next to it. Only he couldn't tell which of the two teeth--or both--it was. No signs of ONJ, thank goodness--but said that Prolia can make healing much slower (even my arm fractures). So he sent me across the mall to the endodontist for a root canal.
She took 3-D X-rays of my two front incisors and the adjacent canine, et voilà: the canine's nerve channel wasn't visible but there was a big blob of indeterminate yuck at the base of the root. She posited that the nerve might be dead, which was why that tooth itself wasn't very sensitive. She wasn't able to squeeze out much from the palate swelling, but numbed me up and dug into the tooth--and she was able to ream out the abscessed part of the root--there was so much yuck (not gonna use the proper medical term lest you lose your appetites for your DOTD) and calcification that she couldn't visualize the nerve till she actually got in there. She packed the canal with antibiotic-laced paste and covered it up with cement. I go back next week to finish the job. If this root canal doesn't do the trick, then she'll do the adjacent incisor (the sensitive, loose-ish one). Medicare Part B supplements are nice, but I sure miss the dental coverage that came with my old insurance. At least we can afford it.
And after that, it was back to the hospital for my wrist surgery followup. More X-rays (I might glow in the dark by now). Surgeon says the scaphoid hasn't fully knit yet, but it's been only 3 weeks. But the ulna is knitting like a grandma expecting multiple grandkids any day now. I am to remove the cast-brace several times a day to gently rotate & flex my wrist & thumb joint as tolerated. Starting to play my smallest dulcimer (notes & chords, but no suspensions yet). Might be able to play guitar by next gig, Sep. 14. And surgeon says definitely by Oct. or Nov.--when I will have not only the Bar Show but also a solo musical improv gig at i.o. (formerly Improv Olympic, hatchery of many SNL cast members). Their music director was our server at RPM Italian last week, is friends with Gordy, and saw me perform last year at "pHusion."
DOTD: a huge double-shot latte. My Aeroccino 3 frother went belly-up, so as "retail therapy" I got an Aeroccino 4--more settings, dishwasher-safe, larger capacity, and will froth a much wider variety of milks (dairy or not). As I hadn't had anything to eat or drink--except the water for my meds--till I got home. Can you say "caffeine withdrawal?" The frother made so much dense foam it took two shots of espresso to be able to taste the coffee. Later I will nuke leftover BBQ and probably drink something red. (Or seltzer, haven't decided which).

Oh Kim how do u keep things straight, but u always do, Thank God there are nurses like u and I think spending more quality time with less patients is better than more patients less time, personally. And now I have another Sadie story, I luv it.
Sandy u are right on top of things always. Glad ur getting things done and sounds like ur healing pretty good, it really hasn't been that long.
Janky good to hear ur doing OK, but me too thinking about medical Mj. Girls I did get that CB whatever in a drop oil. Actually my SIL took it for his upper back and head, he's been to the Dr. < if any of u member, he;s the one who gets all these crazy things that the Drs. just stick their fingers in there noses> They just keep on giving him stuff and I gave him mine and he used it and said it helped, but didn't take the full dose <u know how taking something odd u tend to be cautious> So who knows if it works on everybody.
Jazzy my tests were fine. The only thing she has a problem with was my thyroid and she wants another test in 2 months, she didn't like what was seen and if it continues I have to see my Onc. She thought it might e just a spike. And something to do with my airways---whatever s I'm really not concerned, but she figures that's why I'm extra tired. She said she will keep an eye on it and I told her fine I'll keep my eye on TV so we both have a job to do. Everything else was fine, but I really thAnd my thyroid has been a problem for about 3 yrs. now so no biggy.
One of the guys that I work with had to stop by last nite < the really really handsome one> when he left I asked Les so what do u think, of course she totally agreed with me, it's so nice to see him, I've known him before he started working tho, he's so darn charming to kisses me goodby and always says I love you and I tell him how adorable he is. hahaha, but when they talk to me about their relationships I do tell them they are so stupid, cuz they are. Of course I tell them how to fix it. they're so dumb.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Whoo has it come off hot and sticky here this morning. Temp is 77 degrees, dew point is 75 degrees, humidity 92%. Last night's rain is just sitting on the ground and on the leaves and not evaporating much at all.Sun peeking out from time to time. If it weren't for the 4 mph breeze it would be totally unbearable outside. I'm going to have to turn on the AC in the house today. The fans alone are just not cutting it. It was so comfortable last night, however, that Sadie and I slept till almost 8 ayem! Poor Sadie is lying around moving from cool spot to cool spot on the floor and panting. I hope the new bathing suit I bought comes today, we really need to get to the lake later and swim. Probably going to go even if I have to wear the old suit that really doesn't fit!Got to find Sadie's collar with her ID tag on it first, just in case she runs off and I can't get her back. She as a bit of an independent streak that way.
Chi--I just cringed my way through the whole dental experience description! With so many x-rays it is a wonder you don't glow in the dark! Sounds like good news for the wrist, though. The new coffee machine sounds complicated and fun!
Cammy--Some days I really wish I could take Sadie to work with me. She can be such a comical character! It is really nice to be in a spot where I can take the time to make long visits when needed. Makes me feel like I am really makinga difference. So nice to get a visit from a cute guy and be able to straighten out his life!

Kim our weather is getting hot too, but I know u must be horrible cuz u don't use A/C as much as we do. I know u enjoy taking Sadie with u to work, cuz she loves it and so do patients. Sandy I think it's called Northwestern group <my brain is crooked> so I asked her if ur Mom gets all rads u'll have to take her downtown everyday---same action used just goofy driving. Makes no sense to me. Again I just don't like when people make u feel like ur not doing the best u can for ur own mother. And of course I asked if she goes downtown and gets rads is there a special magic ray that only they use and no other hospital has privvy to. I know I'm bad. Damn cancer.
Well one of my boyfriends came over the other night we had a nice time. Stayed a couple of hrs. I think they think they're cheering me up but I told them all that they're doing is keeping me up. I'm so nice, right???

I too use MMJ and CBD. There are things you want to know when buying these. Ask what part of the plant is used, stem, leaves or bud. You want bud. Is it organic and the extraction process, you want ethanol, or any other alcohol extraction, NOT CO2 extraction. Had a good time camping. No sooner did we get there, I heard a hummingbird. I keep a feeder in the toy hauler and take sugar with me. I set the feeder out and right away got 3 hummers and eventually a swarm of them, 2-3 dozen at least. Went for a ride one afternoon, got about an hour from our campsite and it starts to rain and hail. Had to haul ass back to our site, lots of thunder and close lightning, I was a bit skeered. DH was soaked and freezing, I happened to have a jacket on, so I opened it and leaned on him, to try and keep at least his back dry and maybe some warmth. But all in all, a good relaxing time. Cami, the "Northwestern Group" you and your GF's mom are in is Northwestern Medicine (Central DuPage Hosp. in your neck of the woods). If she were to "go downtown" it'd be to Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Center...in Northwestern Memorial--and their oncologists would probably prescribe exactly the same treatment as hers recommend. Heck, they might even be some of the same oncologists, as within a given hospital system specialists rotate between several hospital. (F'rinstance, my North Shore MO sees patients at both Kelllogg Cancer Centers at Evanston and Glenbrook Hospitals; my hand surgeon sees patients at Skokie & Glenbrook and operates at Highland Park Hosp. and Ravineway Surgicenter). In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if there was one centralized tumor board for the Northwestern Medicine system, and your friend's mom's treatment recommendations were made at Northwestern Memorial. Northwestern is one of the top regional university-affiliated (Northwestern U., duh) teaching hospital systems in the nation and Lynn Sage one of the very top breast centers.

Hi ladies- hope everyone has had a good week! We had some major rains here this week and many hail storms. Nothing bad where I live (although I have not always been that lucky), but the east side of town got really nailed. I was at the Subaru dealer getting some service this week and saw a guy with a very banged up Subie. The rains have been great and was up north yesterday and saw varying bands of where things have greened up with the rains and where some areas are still parched. A big improvement since my last trip up north a few weeks ago.
Cami wanted to know what kind of fun I was having this weekend, and yesterday, I went up to one of my favorite communities Las Vegas, which is a historic community that was bustling during the railroad era of the late 1880s. A lot of settlement occurred out here in the west then, and Teddy Roosevelt was also a visitor (along with Truman and a few others as I learned yesterday). They had about 40 spots that have historic buildings that are being used for various things including businesses, colleges, etc. The big thing for me yesterday was to see the Harvey House hotel that is being restored called the Castaneda. Got to see that yesterday and really coming along. There are other historic places being renovated too, including the home where the Harvey Girls who worked at the hotels lived. Really interesting day and some pics to follow later today. It was a long day (4 hours RT) plus six hours there. But the weather was good and a good day to do it. It was a bucket list thing I have been wanting to do and was super fun!
Goldie- welcome back and girl, you got some SERIOUS tomatoes this year. Man, I wish I were there to enjoy some of those. You going to make some sauce? I have some fresh maters from the farmers market and going to make a caprese sandwich with smoked bacon for lunch today. Glad you have such a bountiful crop.
How is your mom doing and also your daughter in the VI doing? Been almost a year since the big hurricane but know recovery is slow?
NM- you are bringing back fond memories of blueberry picking with my family on summer vacations in Maine. We used to go to a cabin on a lake somewhere far up north, but could not tell you where that was now. We would stay at a relative's of my mom's and would usually be there to pick wild blueberries in August. I hope you can get some fresh things and love all things blueberry-pie, cobbler, muffins, etc. Sadie probably likes blueberries too?
Janky- I love Shepards pie! I make a lot of soups in the crock pots in the winter time. Too hot right now but fall is coming. How are you feeling sister?
Cami- too many of us in this bc club, right? While I was at my last stop yesterday on the tour, I was sitting on the porch of this really cool place taking some photos of the hummingbirds around the feeders and the women next to me was talking to her friend about having had Stage O breast cancer (which I know is DCIS, in the ducts but not moving yet). All the details of treatment and could tell she still felt very traumatized by the whole experience. But we know that feeling for awhile after treatment.
I hope your cousin does okay with rads and that older woman will get some treatment, but they don't do chemo on older people in general. I have known several whom have had cancer in their 80s and the most they will get is a bit of surgery and maybe rads. I know too many people are who don't do the cancer thing very well and no longer share anything about follow ups or even my recent scare with the biopsy. It's sort of shocking when you hear people just saying a lot of stuff they have no idea about. Armchair oncologists....
And just one question, exactly how many boyfriends do you have?
Chi- is your wrist continuing to heal and the dental issues better? Lots for you to deal with this summer. I hope you and Bob have a nice trip for the fall. How is Gordy doing?
Ill- a tropical beach sounds like right about now too. I plan to spend some time by the water on the east coast in a couple weeks when I go back for da reunion. Need to dip my toes in the Sound......
What happened to Genny?
MemaSue and Mistyeyes- you doing okay?
Calling all the Karens....
DARA, DARA DARA- what about your reunion?
Will post some pics in awhile of the tour yesterday. Have a good Funday Sunday!

Photos from the tour yesterday. For those of you on FB with me, you will see a lot more in my earlier post there today.
The old Rawlins building where the Harvey girls used to live, three to a room and with only one bathroom for all 14 girls who all worked at the same place. Rooms were the size of stud to stud. This is being renovated for apartments upstairs and a gallery downstairs.
Women dresses up like the Harvey girls
This hotel had some very famous visitors as well as was used for several films and TV series. LVNM has had a long history of being used for old western films
Front of the Harvey Hotel Castaneda currently being restored
Historic train station. Las Vegas NM was big during the early rail years in the late 1800s
One of the Sears prefab houses you used to be able to order and have installed (Sears did everything back in the day!)
Trolley building at NM Highlands University
Historic Plaza Hotel. If any of you are a fan of the series Longmire (ended a few years ago), it was mostly filmed in this town. When I was staying there a few years ago, I saw some of the actors (hubba hubba)

Lori, that's about five years' harvest for me--but I have only 7 plants and they're in containers on the deck. Can barely harvest the ripe cherry tomatoes before they split (still edible & delish If I cut away ths split part and gobble them down). Finally getting a few normal-size ones, but nowhere near fully grown nor ripe.
DOTD? Whatever's still cold. (Leftover prosecco). Freezer & icemaker died today, fridge dying. (LG French-door, 7 yrs old, 3 yrs post-extended warranty). Bob had to buy ice on the way home. Thank goodness we have a cheapo top-freezer model down in the basement, so I could salvage the meats & fish. Lotsa dead ice cream--the most heartbreaking were unopened pints of espresso gelato, Cherry Garcia, and Chocolate Sludge Brownie. (Yeah, "sludge"). God's way of telling me to lay off sweets. About to bring the milk, eggs, cheese, butter & juice downstairs before they, too, "turn."
Wrist still very stiff & sore when I do my exercises. And tooth still hurts, though not as much as the first few days after the root canal (about the same as before, though). Round 2 is on Wed. Hope she got it all--can't imagine having to go through this with another tooth...or two. I see my PCP's NP tomorrow for my Medicare "wellness visit" and CBC/lipid profile blood draws; Tues. I see the MMJ certifying doc; and Fri. is the fridge repair--first appt. they had. If I need a new one, I may rethink both the in-door dispenser and even the French doors & bottom freezer--not giving up an icemaker, though. I spent 20 years dealing with filling & emptying ice trays. Never again. Consumer Reports still top-rates my fridge, though it and its other top-rated brethren get miserable reviews from actual consumers. Supposedly, fridges should last on average about 10-13 years. (My Kitchen Aid lived for 15). But all the rotten reviews came from people who'd barely made it 6 mos-3 yrs.

Good Morning, Loungettes!

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Monday Monkey day! Another day with a heat advisory coming up, going to be glad of the AC in the car I'm thinking. Definitely gladd of the AC in the bedroom last night and the living room most of yesterday! Never thought I would use AC so much!Even Sadie seemed to appreciate it!The heat and humidity really drains me.
Goldie--I could have gone blueberrying by myself, but I don't know exactly where the place is we were going to, and don't see much point in driving for an hour or more for blueberries by myself. Going with my friend is different, but she wasn't feeling well. Look at them Maters!Nice haul!
ONLY 100 blanched??? Sounds like a lot to me!
Hey, Karen, glad you had a great time! Welcome home!
Jazzy--Historic communities are fun and fascinating! Glad you got to see this one. Sadie does like blueberries, fixed any way, or straight out of the carton. Sometimes we fight over the last handful!
Chi--NOT the time of year to lose the fridge, especially the ice maker part! Funny how actual user reports and published reports of the same item can be so different. Glad you have a back up and can save the important stuff.
